It's only once when your kid turns an age and you want that birthday to be amazing...I get it. And there are a lot of option out there. I had reached out to many entertainers in the San Mateo area (At least 6, and 3 of them I spoke with over the phone at length). Nina, aka "Miss TwinkieDeeStar" was the only person who spent the few extra minutes over the phone to help understand our children's ages (and our guests' ages), the number of attendees, what we were looking for, and customized the entertainment for our kids based on their development level. She also helped me to think through the logistics for an outdoor Covid-friendly gathering. The median age for our outdoor covid birthday party was 2 with limited attention span, so we wanted to keep things simple. We ultimately decided to do a story (with a puppet), bubbles, and balloons. It turned out AMAZING. I honestly did not know what to expect and Nina surpassed any expectation I had. Her rate was also very reasonable compared to other entertainers in the area. I felt like other entertainers had a "package" and you either fit into their package or not. Nina customized her rate based on what we were looking for...and I am immensely grateful. One note about the balloons...WOW. These were not simple balloon animals...no no no. They are elaborate...and they were special for the kids. Our kids loved them. Overall our kids LOVED her. We hired Twinkie for my daughters 6th birthday party, and I was totally impressed and felt as though we got a great value. She did ballons and magic and face painting and they were all extraordinary. The ballons she had premade so when the kids got in line there was less wait time unless they had a special request which she was happy to oblidge. The face painting was also way above my expectations as she added glitter and made artist quality face painting. Last and probly my favorite was the magic show which she had my daughter (the birthday girl) come up and assist her. My daughter held the wand and said the magic words and abra Kadabra, it became a birthday she will never forget. As she left she gave the kids a gift. She does good face painting. However, at a birthday party, my 4-year-old daughter wanted a Spider Man face painting like her older brother. TwinkieDeeStar asked her incredulously if she really wanted a full-face Spider Man, or a small Spider Man on her cheek, to which my daughter nodded because she does not speak English. I asked her again and confirmed she wanted a full Spider Man. TwinkieDee still did not believe me (a girl wants SpiderMan? how shocking!) and insisted on asking my daughter again, "a big one or a small one?", to which my daughter nodded again, and TwinkieDee drew a tiny Spider Man on her cheek. Having looked in the mirror, my shy daughter came running to me and started crying. I told her we'd ask the lady to redo the painting and we sat patiently waiting until all the other kids had had their faces painted. When TwinkieDee was done painting all the other kids' faces, I came up and told her my daughter was unhappy because she wanted the full Spider Man mask.
