i've been coming here several times a year for the past few years. while it's a bit on the pricey side, twins is a consistently solid spot for a haircut. i usually go to sam, who has been around for a while and does a great job. it's easy to walk in on a weekday morning without a reservation, and the space itself is clean and modern. parking is metered on the street or available in the municipal lot out back, so it's usually manageable. one thing to note is that there is a bit of turnover with barbers, so i would not get too attached to any one person. without naming names, there are a couple of barbers i try to avoid after noticing uneven sideburns a few times. overall this is a no frills and dependable barbershop. nothing fancy but it gets the job done. they recently changed to only cash. which i wish they had a notice or a transition period or something because i spent the better part of a half hour attempting to get cash from an atm earlier this morning.. not super fun.. read more

The haircuts are ok, albeit a bit overpriced. Customer service is horrendous though. I'm sitting there waiting with two other guys, a cute girl walks in with her son and they let her cut us. We all kind of give a stank-eye and the guy tells us she mad an appointment. Judging by the body language, I kind of doubted it, but fine. Now it's coming up to my turn, a guy walks in off the street and starts talking to the now available barber. He starts pointing to the chair and sayin "can I?", barber looks around and says "sure." I feel really bad giving a bad review about this shop. This has nothing to do with a majority of the barbers who are all excellent....just this one barber who cut my hair and completely screwed up my side tape and shape. And that's where my review, and anger, are directed. I really didn't want to write this but it's the second or third time this same barber has done this and I've said in multiple occasions to not do it again. This is the last time (I have photos attached). For the record....STEVE AND SAL are great and I've had Sal before. Those two guys have never given me or anyone I know a bad haircut. Just the past few times I have stopped by here I had the barber with the glasses who is in the back....avoid him like a plague. He used the liner instead of a taping clipper and basically chopped and left this stupid line on both side burns which are ice picked. Then when he was using the clippers, instead of blending with a taper clipper, he was poking with the non-taper clipper and nicked me on both sides of the side burn....making it look like I have uneven bald spots on both sides. Completely botched my haircut. I've wanted to give him a chance but it'll be the last time he cuts my hair ever again. I usually visit my barber of 18 years in Queens but the shop was closed and I needed a haircut. Was too late to book an appt. Now I have to go spend another $20 to have my hair fixed because this guy can't blend or tape hair properly. This has to be one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. Was a last second decision to come otherwise I would have booked an appointment with Sal. If you do go here only use Steve or Sal. read more

He took his time to make sure everything was on point, even coming back to some areas multiple times. I have been going to Twins Barber Shop since it first opened up 12 years ago, and what has me coming back every time is the professional service that is offered by the men that work here. A few months ago, they started taking appointments for those who do not have the patience to wait as it gets busy here. I have been bringing my son here since he was born, and all the guys are great with kids. There has been many instances where I would be patiently waiting my turn and a customer would sit down for a haircut and whether it was their first time there or they were trying something new, Sal and Steve along with the other guys would always know what the customer wants. Was looking for a haircut. Saw this place was nearby and had good reviews so I decided to go check it out. Went inside and was NOT acknowledged by either owners. Two older gentleman asked if They could cut my hair I said no, I'll wait for them aka the twins. So I'm sitting there for over an hour and it is clear I'm waiting for them. Over an hour later one of the twins comes up to me and says you waiting for us. I'm like yeah. He goes like we only go by appointments. I said, I've been sitting here for over an hour and you decide to tell me this now. Mind you this is my first time here so any decent businessman would've realized I'm new and said something. He then told me to go to one of the older guys in the back. Guy if I wanted to go to one of the older guys I would've done that. At that point I wanted to teach him business 101 but I decided to leave. Not wasting my money at this sort of business. I've been going to Sal for my cut back when he was at Manny's barber shop... Now at Twins, Sal and Steve both do a great job every time without fail. I now bring my son there for his monthly haircuts because they are pretty good with kids. I used to go here all the time. What really upset me was that I was coming from another borough to get my cut, so I would call and make sure my barber joe was there. I called and they say come in he's here, now this was a Wednesday and Joe worked Wednesday thru Sunday. Needless to say they lied. I waited and waited and waited, finally I ask steve what's up and he tells me I got you. You got me, what's that mean ? He tells me joes on vacation. So I walked out , really annoyed. I come back a week later , same thing happens. I can't wait anymore and I go to steve, he has the nerve to ask me why I walked out. Oh I said because I was given false information and drove all the way from the bronx to get a haircut. These guys used to be great. Sal is stand up guy, but his brother is a bit too cocky. Be upfront and tell me the guy's not there, I'll respect you more. They finally tell me joe works in manhanttan which is not true either. This place is absolute trash. Besides the main owners, the rest of the barbers give little attention to detail and want to get you out as quickly as possible. My haircut elsewhere usually takes 30 minutes and at this establishment, I was finished in 10 minutes. Worst haircut of my life would never recommend to anybody. read more

Ive been to most of the barbers in the area and can easily say Twins is the best. The twins who run the shop ( first 2 chairs ) are on point every time its ridic. Like they robots or something. The other barbers from what Ive heard are real solid too. I was a regular customer for the past 10 years. The service is deteriorated. I do see new barbers almost every month. After the recent renovation the price for regular cut is $20.00. With Steve you have to get an appointment and it will cost you $25.00 . For a simple hair cut you pay $25.00 . I think it is too much.. R............U................N. read more

I have been going there since they opened, I was one of their first customers. They were really nice and very welcoming at first. I used to go to Sal or Steve until Joe showed up, then I went to Joe religiously. Once a week, maybe even twice. I put all my friends on and everyone i knew started coming there. Joe always took care of me even if they were about to close. Over time i started losing hair and started needing less haircuts less often. After losing all my hair I started shaving my head on my own and didnt need a barber. I was going to a wedding recently and figured Id stop in and let Joe line up my beard, to my surprise Joe was no longer there. When I asked where he went they wouldn't give me a straight answer. THEY ALL KNOW ME! BEEN COMING THERE FOR MANY MANY MANY YEARS, and because my main barber left they gave me the run around?? I would have gone back to sal or steve but not after the way they treated me. I sent them a lot of business and not these fist pumping tan muscle heads i always see there. and for them to give me attitude because i asked where joe went and gave me a hard time about it was uncalled for. I found out Joe bought his own barber shop and the twins weren't too happy for him. He is right down the road about 3 blocks down. He is still as nice as ever.
