I'm 68 years old and had my ears pierced when I was 12 years old. I haven't Worn earrings for the last 10+ years because one of the holes in my earlobes closed up and I couldn't get an earring in. So I decided to have my ears repierced. My appointment with Tori was a lovely experience. As I turned out, she was able to reopen my piercings from the backside of my earlobes and insert titanium earrings with a flat backs that are removed or changed from the front. I had done some research on helix piercings, trying to find the best business to get my piercing done and how long recovery would take. I had read review after review of how amazing Amy was and when I went to book with her, I noticed she was booked a month or two out. While it took me about 4 years to get up the nerve to get my helix pierced, I am really glad Amy was my piercer. My sister and I decided to get our left ears pierced at the helix. Because my ears are significantly smaller than hers, I chose an 18K white gold star. She chose a much bigger earring with a beautiful 18k white gold butterfly. She loves the butterfly but has stated that she wished she got a smaller earring initially. She wears glasses and states that sometimes the stem of the glasses hits her earring and causes some discomfort for awhile. And we noticed that when we took our masks off, the ear loops caught on the back of the earring, so just be cautious of that. Amy explained everything thoroughly to us and answered all of my millions of questions. She used an 18 gauge needle and showed us how she sanitized the needle and the earring. Honestly, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. While it did hurt, I can honestly state that I preferred a needle over the piercing guns. To make sure that we were satisfied with the location of the helix piercing, she marked on our ears to show us what it would look like. We were able to look in a mirror and she adjusted it accordingly, as we saw fit. Before piercing our helixes, she used a light behind our helix area to make sure there were no blood vessels along that area. She stated that that can be the difference of bleeding a lot or bleeding very little. She thoroughly cleansed the area and allowed it to air dry completely. I am much more comfortable if I can exhale when someone sticks me; and not only did she state that that's what she does with everyone, she also allowed me to hold the mirror to watch as she stuck me. She shared detailed instructions on how to properly care for our ears and that it will probably take a year to completely heal. We didn't need to twist the earring around; but after a shower, spray the wound care on the front and back of the earring, to remove any residue. The very first day, our ears were a little red and swollen; but by the second day, the swelling had gone down tremendously and it hardly bothered us. 10 days later and our piercings are still doing fabulous!! I 100% recommend Amy!! I was willing to drive from Lexington KY to Louisville KY to get this done. And I am so happy that I drove the distance. One thing I would like to add, parking is behind the building and it isn't really marked very well. But I was able to match the street number to their address. Park and walk around to the front of the building and call the number on the door to let them know you are there. They have masks if you forget to bring your mask and want everyone to wear one. read more

I came in knowing I likely didn't have anatomy for an eyebrow piercing, but he still said if I really want it, we can, but it would only be there 4-6 months rather than a few years. Poor communication, no attempt on Amy's part to help me reschedule the appointment they dropped the ball on, and an indifferent communication style on the part of Amy while navigating the Twisted's scheduling process. As a customer, I want to walk into a store and feel like I matter at least a little bit. I felt none of that here and my rating reflects this. Note: I specifically requested Amy to do my septum piercing reading on Twisted's website that this was her favorite piercing to do and that she is a Grateful Dead fan. I even wore a vintage Dead shirt to my appointment! Silly me. read more

Amy showed a pattern of prioritizing money over the wellness of the piercing clients. She performed piercings that were not suited for the anatomy of a client against their wishes (the person repeatedly stated they would rather not get the piercing if the anatomy was not ideal). She also failed to stop a jewelry changing service after she had accidentally re-opened the wound. Instead of placing the original jewelry when she noticed the bleeding, she continued to place jewelry that was not appropriate for healing & ultimately led to infection & rejection. During an initial piercing appointment, when a client had concerns about the size of the jewelry being too small she insisted that they return another time rather than fixing it immediately. In my opinion, I suspect this was so she could charge money for an additional appointment & for new jewelry, but I can't say for sure as it wasn't confirmed. The jewelry in question did end up being too small for the clients anatomy & caused significant difficulty healing. I can not recommend this place or return to it after myself & others had these experiences with the owner of the shop who is apparently AAP certified. The difference in professionalism is massive compared to Tattoo Charlie's who seem to be committed to the trade & the wellbeing of their clients above anything else, even if it means saying no to a client. read more

One of the best tattoo visits I've ever had. Alex was a sweet gentleman with a reassuring confidence and tattooed me quick and strategically. The design process was awesome ! Granted my design was simple but he was really adaptable and made me feel like I could change and improve the design with him. I have been extremely nervous to get my nipples pierced for the past two years, and after all my research I was led to twisted images. On a random Tuesday Pat had an opening and I took it as a sign. I had my nosebridge pierced by Amy a couple months ago in December, and it was definitely one of the best piercing experiences I've had. The staff was very friendly, and everything was sterilized well. I've had some bad experiences with piercers in the past, so I was a little worried about this one being so visible, but she was great with taking time on measuring and placement. Arrived at 2:40 for a 2:30 appointment and was not allowed in because we "missed the 10 minute grace period". Will not be back.

The first pic with the words is what I got. The pic without the words is what I asked for. The guy was very kind and they said in 2 weeks they'll see what they can do to fix it. I'm not an artist at all, but after looking at the pic of the tattoo I wanted I see that they made the right wing look like it was up by lifting it higher, or maybe it's all in placement of shading. I cried once I really looked at it, plus the words are a little off centered on the bottom part. Where it says new there is a bigger space than where the other words are. This tattoo was something that meant a lot to me. It represented transformation, which is what is going through my life. When I got to really look qt it I was sad to know that this is on my wrist and they may be able to fix the butterfly a little bit, but the words I don't believe can be fixed. Of they do I will for sure fix my rating. My brother told me I was a dumbass and should've went to bluebird I think he called it. Regardless, I pray I can be fixed somehow read more

I visited Twisted Images this past weekend to have my nostril pierced. The shop is great! Everyone is very professional, everything is by the book, and the shop is very clean. I was unaware until this past weekend that many shops in Louisville do not perform body piercing. In the past I have had numerous piercings done at different tattoo shops; however, in Louisville there are few shops that do piercings. So, if you're looking for a place to get a piercing I highly recommend Twisted Images. I would recommend calling ahead, because they only do piercings between the hours of 12:30p-7:30p and only have two piercers in the shop, so if it's a busy day or if one of the piercers is out you may need an appointment, though they do accept walk-ins. read more

A few years ago I decided to start my journey into piercings over again. Unfortunately for me I went to another shop on spur of the moment and got three piercings which that shop (NOT Twisted Images!) screwed up (the right lobe piercing went fine but the left lobe was a 'reopen' instead of repiercing an existing hole she shoved an 18g taper through and it was incredibly painful. After that fiasco I impulse chose another shop for my tongue and it was incredibly traumatizing (the piercer there thought it a good idea to pierce on 2 instead of 3 and I panicked a bit because I wasn't expecting it). After a bit of research I stumbled upon Amy and Twisted Images. I could tell after my first visit that I found my piercer for life. Since I left the first time I have returned multiple times and have referred many many people into her doors. To date I have had four ear piercings, two dermal anchors, a septum, and both nipples pierced there. I have been in and out buying jewelry, getting things swapped out, and conferring with the staff about various project ideas and jewelry information. Amy and Bunny are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about their craft. They make you feel at ease and comfortable with not only your 'normal' piercings but the more intimate ones as well. They have the most gentle piercing techniques and I have only had one 'painful' piercing and it was because of my weird anatomy and trying to get a CBR into a fresh piercing, I later had to have that spot repierced and the second time a curved barbell was used and it went MUCH smoother (anti-tragus). I have only been pierced by Amy, but have talked to Bunny previously and she is just as highly acclaimed as Amy is. They are an APP certified shop that values re-education every year and advancing their own knowledge on various practices in the profession. The shop is INCREDIBLY LGBTQ friendly and many LGBTQ people I know frequent the place. Prices CAN be a bit higher but you are paying for knowledge, experience, and high quality jewelry. I'd rather drop $50-100 on a piercing any day than some $20 chop job with plastic or unknown metal jewelry. Highly recommended!!! read more
