It's alright, if you're getting TWO nose piercings you would probably expect them to measure it precisely and make it almost identical to the other side, well no they don't measure it. The lady just relies on her own measurements and ask if it's alright or not, seems unprofessional and I think that's the most important step in getting a darn nose piercing. Got two lobe piercings, The guy that pierced me had trouble with the second one. The second one swelled pretty bad and the earring fell off after 5 days. Had to go back in and get a new one (it was more expensive than the piercing itself). The other one just popped off as well after 2wks. Never had this happen before let alone 2x. Seems to be a reoccurring issue they don't bother to fix. read more

We brought our 7 year old here to get her ears pierced and they did a fantastic job. The two ladies that did her piercing were so kind and good with her. They explained everything that would happen and took time to educate on care. Everything was sterile and professional. They were able to do hoops for her and she didn't even flinch. After nearly two years in the area, I think we finally found our tattoo shop. Recently our daughter came down for Christmas and wanted a tattoo. (We're the parents that got each of our kids their first tattoo). My wife made calls to several notable shops to find out pricing, hours, availability, etc. These calls went largely un-returned. We were starting to get frustrated, because our daughter was coming down in two days. On Friday night, three days before Christmas, we were in the Mall of St. Matthews (still waiting to hear back the aforementioned local shops) when my wife turned to me and said "There's a tattoo shop in this mall! Who Knew?!". We visited the Tatu and talked to Justin (the owner) and asked if there was an opening on Christmas Eve for our daughter to get her tattoo. We were pleasantly surprised that there was an opening and booked it immediately. After some conversation about her tattoo ideas we were ready to go, and couldn't wait for noon o'clock on December 24. The shop is very open and brightly lit. Right inside the door is the reception area, where Justin greeted us when we came in. There's a sitting area and, of course, the wall of tattoo flash. The tattoo area is behind a set of swinging doors where there are 3 or 4 tattoo areas (depending on the configuration). The music played overhead was excellent (aside from having to sit through three Creed songs during the visit) and had a lot of 90s and 2000s rock. I was actually impressed with the audio in the tattoo shop, being a DJ. All the areas of the shop we very clean and un-cluttered. The tattoo artist that was going to do the work was Josh Tullis. Josh has been tattooing for over twelve years and his years of experience show in the suggestions he had to make our daughter's tattoo the best it could be. She was after a red and orange tiger lily to start her sleeve. Josh's recommendations for color, style, and position were perfect. It took about 3 hours for the tattoo (the longest she's ever sat for) and Josh was awesome. Sociable, funny, liked Star Wars, and was a genuinely nice guy. After a couple of breaks my daughter had a gorgeous tiger lily and she couldn't have been happier. She plans on having Josh add to her sleeve whenever she comes down to visit. And, with that, my wife and I finally found our local tattoo shop. Tatu is a friendly shop with very talented staff and is in a great location. Josh Tullis is an incredibly skilled artist, and I look forward to visiting him again soon for my next piece. Tatu St. Matthews, come take my money! read more

I can't say ENOUGH good things about this place, especially about their piercer Molly!! I went in today around 12:45 for a nose piercing. There was a little bit of a crowd but we got signed in easily and sat to wait. While we did wait for about an hour, they only had 2 piercers so I could understand why because different services take different amounts of time. We were taken back, and she was just so sweet. I told her this was my first ever piercing, and she was so understanding. She explained the entire process to me so I wasn't left in the dark about anything and she always told me what she was going to do before she did anything. When she saw I was crying she sat down and talked to me to calm my nerves, asked about my summer, and was just such a delight to talk to. After finishing my piercing, I told her I felt like I was going to pass out and she had me lay my head on her lap while she cooled me off with a towel and told me how good I did. Even when I apologized, she told me to "never apologize for my feelings, because feelings are normal." She was genuinely such a sweetheart and I can tell she genuinely loves her job and loves what she does. You all need to give her a raise, she's all around INCREDIBLE at what she does and I will absolutely be coming here again!! read more

Horrible experience here today. I came in for a septum and the wait was over an hour which fine as I could come back later in the day. Around 6:45pm I called this establishment and asked how long a wait would be and if I could get my septum done. The lady on the phone replied with yes and I could make my way down. I stood in line for over 20 minutes before someone came up to me asking if I signed in. When I said no because people were in-front of me and nobody at the front desks said anything to me, I was told I couldn't get my piercing done. Horrible experience. Don't tell me they can come on down if you're unable to do the piercing due to the store closing in 45 minutes. read more

My daughter had her ears pierced here. They were absolutely wonderful. The piercer had the most calmest, kindest energy and brought a lot of peace to my daughter who was really nervous. She went over everything with my daughter before she did it and checked in several times to see if my daughter wanted to continue. They do tandem piercings in the morning of certain days. Waited over an hour to get second's pierced and as we went back they said mom needs to be present so we explained she's on her way and is just about here. They then said they can't take us and it would be a quick minute to do the next persons piercing while we waited for mom. Mom showed up 30 seconds later and we realized she took multiple people back to pierce. We continued to wait another half hour before getting out service. Very dissatisfied. Every single piercing I've gotten at other shops has taken less than ten minutes to fill out paperwork and get the piercing done total. This was ridiculous. read more

Came in for a walk-in piercing and was there no more than 30 minutes. Ana Bruce was my piercer, and she was very good! I came in to get my nipples pierced and she took the time to mark them and make sure they would look good. She told me when to breathe and got it over with quickly. It barely hurt at all (felt like a pinch) and she answered all the questions I had. Was super fast, pain free, and looks good! read more

I would have given this place a 5 star rating had I posted this a month ago. Missing an appointment due to being out of state for a funeral jeopardized a 70 dollar deposit. Who ever kept messaging me and calling me from this shop was so disrespectful, unprofessional and even hateful in regards to telling me about their "company policy" and "how I shouldn't miss my appointments" and so forth - yes even after I informed them that I was dealing with sudden loss of a family member through violent crime the unprofessional and hateful banter continued. I am no longer getting any of my rework and future work done at Tatu. I believe their are literally hundreds of competing artists and shops in this city that I can go to instead. read more

great tattoo places. i got my first tattoo here with damien who i assume does younger people or simple tattoos. he was very nice the whole time talked to me and made me more comfortable. i got a butterfly on my right arm near my shoulder. it took about an hour in a half with all the detail he put in. i had an appointment and there was not a long wait if you have an appointment. the tattoo was priced very well. i will for sure be getting more tattoos there!! read more

Jeremy was super sweet and fixed my nostril screw for me! I'm still super stoked on that! I'd rate the place higher, but, my husband had work done there and it was... ok... (Fully admit I'm a tattoo snob, so, take that as you will!) And while the place seemed clean out front, every artist had a large trash can that was completely overflowing with trash from working on clients, and food waste. It's convenient, and honestly I've never seen it done before. So kudos to you! The first time I came here was YEARS ago. I was wanting jewelry for my conch piercing (done elsewhere), specifically a hoop. The male helping me said that the largest sized hoop with the correct gauge was only an inch, and the piercer of my conch placed it way to far back on my ear that an inch diameter ring would be really snug. In most of these type cases I feel like people would just be like 'sorry you're out of luck' BUT not this guy! He special ordered me a ring with the correct gauge and diameter size in all black high quality metal. It did take a while to get in, but ‍ what can you do. That issue had nothing to do with Tatu as a company but the manufacturer. Now jump forward to my most current experience. Long story short I ended up taking out conch piercing about 3 years ago, but the hole was still there. The past few months I've been wanting it back. So I was already at the mall killing some time before having to go to work, and I stopped in just to talk to a piercer about my options. I had to wait about 10 minutes (if that), and the lady at the front desk was super nice and funny. She answered all my questions, and didn't seem annoyed with me for asking a lot of questions either lol. My piecer was nice as well. We ended up just gauging out my hole and placing new jewelry in it. All-in-all casting me only $20. $5 service fee - $15 Jewelry - $5 tip. Im happy with my decision. read more

Called when they opened and they said they could do a tattoo as long as I was there by 3 pm. Got there at 1:15pm and they said to come back in 40 minutes. Came back in 40 mins and they said would be an additional 30 mins. Guy that was going to do the tattoo comes out 20 mins later and tells me he can't do it today. HIGHLY UPSET!! went In there for the second time as I had my belly button pierced and it was done very thin and eventually came out... I went in on 06/28 and sat in the waiting room for an hour while one girl took about 5-6 customers just as I sat there while I watched another girl get done with the piercing she was doing when I first came in... proceeded to take a smoke break (completely justified) but then proceeds to walk in the back room with the tattoos never to be seen again until the poor other girl had to physically tell the receptionist she really needed a breAk... then the receptionist went and got the girl from the back and told her I was waiting... she came and took me in the room spent 45 seconds with me... looked at my belly button and told me "I didn't have the anatomy" to have my belly pierced because I have an "outie" and she couldn't do it.... (Which I don't) she asked me where I got it done before and I said "here"... she said oh... well I'm sorry it can't be done you don't have the anatomy for it... so I wasted my money the first time with it being pierced in the wrong spot and now I have to deal with a girl who has NO BUSINESS in customer service especially if all she wants to do is run from clients and make them wait OVER AN HOUR just for her to deny them services or any kind of alternative... read more
