Since we only had time to play about half the course, we found ourselves spending more minutes navigating than throwing. I can't imagine how tough it must be in the summer when everything is fully leafed out -- it's probably like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still, it's a solid course in a great park, and with better markings it could easily be a five‑star experience.

While there were a ton of people, there was plenty of parking and I appreciated that there was an officer there to keep the flow of cars moving along. The park itself had several playgrounds and I loved they were padded. The kids had a blast on slides, swings and running around in the wide open space. The bathrooms were clean which always makes things even better. The kids had a blast playing with all the other kids and this is definitely a playground I'd come back to visit.

Dog friendly and great for hiking alone or in a group, I highly recommend visiting the park in the evening. Trail #1 goes under Highway 400, so does get a bit noisy. Trail #2 goes through the Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center and is a good spot to picnic and take breaks. Each trail is about 3 miles to & fro and take roughly an hour or so each to complete them. There are no restrooms in the Island Ford Unit entrance so plan accordingly if you enter from that entrance. Parking is $5/day or free with the Annual pass or America the beautiful pass. Amenities: Wheelchair accessible entrance and parking, pet waste stations & picnic tables

One of the highlights was discovering the variety of trails--each one winding through different landscapes and offering unique perspectives of the river and surrounding forest. That said, we've only scratched the surface. With so many trails still left to explore, it feels like we've only had a taste of the adventure waiting here. We also had the chance to tour the lodge, which was a fascinating stop. It shared the history of the site in an engaging way and offered interactive exhibits that were perfect for kids. It added an extra layer of fun and learning to our visit, making the experience even more memorable. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for hiking, family outings, and reconnecting with nature. We're already looking forward to coming back and experiencing more of the trails and activities we didn't get to this time.

It looks like this park is more focused on being sports-related, with a full basketball court, two half basketball courts and a pickle ball court. If there is a line to play basketball, there are benches for players to sit on while they're waiting. To one side of the courts is a big green space. To the other side of the courts is a big pavilion, providing a nice shaded area that has many picnic tables. I think there are restrooms on the backside of the pavilion. The pavilion can be reserved through the City of Dunwoody, and there is a fee to reserve it. If there isn't a reservation for the pavilion, it's first come, first served. On the other side of the pavilion are bbq grills, another big green space, and a big terraced seating area. The Dunwoody Trailway, a nice and wide concrete pathway which is great for running, bicycling, skating, pushing strollers, etc., goes through the backside of the 5 acre park, and provides a convenient way to get to Georgetown Park in one direction and Brook Run Park in the other direction. Also towards the rear of the park are stationary exercise equipment. Besides the limited parking lot spaces, other drawbacks to this park are that there isn't that much shade (other than under the pavilion) and there isn't any playground equipment for children. Like I stated at the beginning of my review, this is a well maintained park! Because of the new appearance that the City of Dunwoody maintains, I thought this was a relatively new park, but it's actually about five years old. The parking lot pavement looks new, the sports courts look new, and the pavilion and picnic benches look relatively new. I'm glad that visitors to this park, and, obviously, the City of Dunwoody take pride in this park!

The park is a nature park has has many picnic tables and shelters, with picnic tables under them scattered on both sides of the park. Some of the picnic tables and shelters are located along the river and provide some panoramic views. The park also features a nice nature trail that is in the wood and pretty well shaded. On one side of the park you will find a small, but newer playground area with percussion instruments, saucer swings, and a couple of slides. It is pretty basic. The other side has a much larger playground. It has a huge play structure that looks like a fort and has a rock climbing wall, slides, and bridges. There is also a pyramid net climber, saucer swings, and toddler swings. The equipment is pretty spread out and in pretty good shape. There is a smaller play structure for little ones which has tunnels, slides, and bridges. You will find rocking animals in that area as well. This side of the park also has a restroom facility. This park is certified as a wildlife habitat and you will see water fowl, geese, beavers and squirrels up close and personal to name just a few animals. Someone was fishing while I was there, but I do not know how good the fishing is, or even if it is allowed. I do not know if it is part of the park, but across the street you will find a huge and amazing baseball complex that looks like it is home to a junior college. It is nice and very well maintained. All in all, this park is decent. It is well maintained and the lake and views are awesome . I will admit that There is not much to offer outside of the trails, shelter, lake, and picnic tables. I like the park, but I was not wow'ed or overwhelmed. The playgrounds are somewhat basic and probably would not holds a kids attention too long. We headed to the brown tree-themed playground first. It's fully fenced in, seemingly to prevent kids from climbing and jumping from the concrete onto the rubber play surface. The equipment was clean and in good condition. Then we checked out the swings. The bucket swings are at a higher height than I'm used to, which is nice when you're pushing your little one, so that you don't have to squat or bend over when pushing. Afterwards, we headed to the large blue playground area closest to the corner, past the sand pit area, past the building that appears to be available fore meetings, and past the main picnic area. While exploring the blue playground, I found a sticker that said it's for 2-5-year-olds (apparently the tree themed one is for 5-12-year-olds). There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, and a soccer field, as well as some paved and some unpaved walking areas.
