On May 8, 2024, I went to Kent Ave., Brooklyn for a short business meeting. Referred by a local gift shop employee, I stopped by Two Hands Restaurant at 262 Kent Ave., Store 4, Brooklyn and ordered a chicken bowl to go. The menu price for a chicken bowl was $17. At the front desk, a tall girl with freckled face took my order and told me the total was $18.51. She showed me her pad for the total charges ($17 plus tax); I tapped my credit card and signed on her pad without marking any tips. The girl did not give me the receipt immediately; she told me that I could sit anywhere while waiting... Then I was sitting right outside of the restaurant waiting for my order. Within 5 minutes, another girl delivered my order to me. She called my name and I said, "Thank you." With these two girls, I had a total of less than five sentences of communication; they both appeared serious in their demeanor... The receipt was found in the to-go bag (photo attached). From the receipt I saw $4.07 was charged for the tip; that was 23-24% of the order price. So, the total charge was changed to $22.58. I was quite surprised and absolutely not happy about that. First of all, I consider that the behavior of adding money to a credit card without the customer's consent, especially after the customer's signature was completed, is stealing and not acceptable at all. Second, if charging tips for any services is the policy of this restaurant, that should be disclosed to all customers by either the hostess or shown in the menu as a clear warning. Least of all, the girls could kindly require some complimentary even though the service is robotic. Third, tips have multiple levels. When a restaurant charges more than 23% of tip for a to-go order, I think this place is so eager for money as to be unusually greedy. Meanwhile, the owner of this restaurant is risking losing his business reputation for lacking common decency. Finally, about the food (photo attached), the chicken was very dry and hard to chew. It seemed like it might have been cooked days ago. The kale salad underneath tasted like cardboard. Obviously, it was not mixed enough with citrus. I gave this place one star because I ate the sweet potato in the bowl. I thought that it was a good idea to fill up my stomach even though the rest was almost inedible. read more

Eh. I heard this place was good but after visiting, I don't understand why anyone would come here. The food was bland and service was slow and inattentive. There was a recent crime wave in the neighborhood, and these poor guys had their front door smashed in. If you're shopping around Williamsburg along Kent, give Two Hands your business! I happen to think their breakfast burrito is among the best I've had, and their service is friendly and down-to-earth. It's also a very good place (there aren't many!) to eat by yourself and get some work done. They take good care of you, and the menu is strong and eclectic, the coffee good. read more

There's a lot of hype at the moment probably because it's new. We signed up for the waitlist at 12:15, checked in at 12:21 and were seated at about 12:30. We ordered our food around 12:35/40 and received our food about 1:15. There was a constant crowd at the door of people adding their names to the list. USE THE WAITLIST The people who signed up for the waitlist were able to walk right in but others who checked in at the door waited about 40 minutes in some cases. Our waitress let us know that the orange juice isn't made to order, and that it could have been made a day or two before. The orange juice definitely wasn't fresh and the taste was watered down from the amount of ice. Our orange juice was delivered to the wrong table as were our entrees which honestly leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially considering they sent the table next to us a free banana bread for the "wait for the food". And we received a an "oops..do you want hot sauce or salt n pepper to go with that?" We ordered the mushroom toast with avocado and farro salad. Overall the food was good but couldn't enjoy it because of the awful service. I might be willing to give it another go in a few months when every worker knows how to do their job..and do it well. read more

I'm visiting New York City and I came into Two Hands yesterday as I was exploring Brooklyn and had a really great experience! My server was really sweet and attentive. He even offered some suggestions of fun things to do around the area since I'm visiting! I think his name was Jared? I'm giving this place 5 stars honestly because the service was so great and the food was yummy too! I would probably rate the atmosphere a little lower though. The store just seemed to be bombarded by delivery drivers all the time I was there. My drink came out really quickly but my food did take some time and my guess is that it was because of all the delivery orders. All the servers were super nice though but if they weren't with a table they were dealing with drivers. Hope they can get that situated so they can have more lovely moments like I had with other people! read more

My go to neighbor brunch place. Very enjoyable. However, I strongly dislike the new avocado toast. The avocado is not "smashed" and there is cucumber and edamame on it. I do love the açaí bowl. And the staff is great. read more

We were very excited to try Two Hands new location in Williamsburg at the corner of Grand Street and Kent Avenue. We were promptly seated by a tall guy, a bit too serious eand not very welcoming but maybe it was because it was their opening day. We were given the menu and water was served. My husband and our friend ordered the Açaí bowl since there was no banana peach bowl. I opted for the avocado toast. The açaí bowl was full of flavor and it was just the right amount to satisfy two hungry men. The avocado toast was garnished with three red onions but not enough avocado. The two complimentary espressos since we live in the same building were kind of bitter. The bill was $48. I will give them another try once they settled. Best of luck. read more

Okay brunch place in Williamsburg. The eggs royale came with two slices of toast topped with arugula, avocado, and a side of salmon. Nothing special, but it got the job done. Not sure why, but as other people have mentioned, the service here is really slow. From asking for condiments to getting the bill, it's was just super slow!! read more

I was looking for a place to work from to change up my working from home scenery. The place is cute and worked well for that purpose. I had the blat. I expected a boring sandwich and was very pleasantly surprised with a flavourful sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of breakfast sandwiches so this one has made me reconsider. It can be a bit cramped, but it is still one of my favorite cafes. Their menu is just *chefs kiss*. Their staff is always friendly. There is usually at least a little bit of a wait, but it goes faster than you'd think and the staff is really nice about it. I love the two hands in the city so it's really very sad that the service here is just really lacking. We went in to order iced lattes to go and the girls working here just acted like it was the biggest inconvenience for them. They a really long time to get us our order and were busy talking to eachother and ignoring us.The cafe was also empty at the time on Sunday. Coffee is SO good here and I've never had an issue ordering at the other location so I'm just disappointed that the service is so rude here. I hope they change for the better read more

Insanely rude staff. Came here with my sisters and her two children and was greeted by staff that immediately made us feel like we were unwelcome. Once we sat down, one of us got up to go wash hands and the server rolled her eyes and us. We had to ask if there was a problem. This place was real double sided coin. The first side is obvious, the food was fantastic. But here comes the reason for the review, it comes with we were sat. After waiting a pretty normal amount of time, 20 minutes or so, we were sat and then told " I dont want to rush you, but there's a reservation in an house so we need this table" Service better have been quick because we needed to order, eat, and pay so the special customer could have their spot, not very relaxed I would say. The food is great. I'm usually fine foregoing a good experience if the food is worth it. But the service is so so bad I can't justify coming back. I showed up with a friend and put my name down for a table. The hostess told me it would be a 20 min wait and we said we'd have drinks at the bar in the meantime. After 15 min, no one had approached us, so we called over a waitress to order. At that point we realized they don't have a liquor license (no alcohol whatsoever) - which I wish the hostess had told us when we said we wanted drinks. We ordered drinks and after about a half hour of waiting for a table decided to just order at the bar. We ordered food, and after another 5 min or so we checked on our drinks. At that point, the waitress told us she never put in our drink order, so we had to reorder (a coffee, orange juice, and kombucha). At this point I realized there is no cell service in the restaurant. I asked a waitress for the WiFi and she told me there was not a public one. When I mentioned there's no cell service, she said she was aware ("there's construction in the neighborhood"!?). After another 10 min or so, our food arrived. Of course this was before the coffee and the kombucha arrived (the orange juice never came - looking at the receipt it was never put in). As I mentioned above, the food is good. And just when I thought the meal was ending on a high note, I walked out and got a text - our table was ready. It was then I realized, the hostess knew the restaurant doesn't have service and didn't bother to get us from the bar to sit at our table. Learn from my mistakes and avoid! read more

I got the mushroom toast with was made with a cashew cream and pesto. The bread was literally sooo fresh, the pesto was flavorful, and the cashew cream was a great way to ensure everything was moist together. The theme is Australian and FYI NO WIFI Their coffee is from Abbotsford in Gowanus and the oat milk latte was pretty good. Honestly I'm thrilled about the location mostly bc it's next door to greendesk where I work and right in front of domino park which is exactly what that area needed but the price is the only reason for the 4 stars rather than 5. Total for those two was 22 adding tip, it's not really a place I'm going to chill at which is what I was hoping for, but I think a good lunch option if you're looking for something simple and delicious and are willing to spend some cash read more

Had a Machiato there this morning on the recommendation of my son. Best I've ever had in New York. I congratulated the barista. The service I received was very good. The tables and chairs were very welcome and well presented. Am only here for a few days then go to the upper west side. But while I'm here this is my go to place. Delighted to have found it. Had the best lunch here today with a table of 8. Everyone ordered different things, and each dish was colorful, beautifully plated, and unique. All 8 of us loved our food. The space has high ceilings, tons of light, and lots of plants. Amazing new go-to spot for Williamsburg! read more

Two Hands was my favorite place in Williamsburg for Avo-toast. BUT THEY RECENTLY CHANGED THE RECIPE-it's no longer my favorite Avo-toast, intact it is now more of an edamame toast. It used to be light, with a little hint of sweet-hot with the chilies. Now it's swimming in a tahini based edamame topping and the avocado is essentially absent. They should change the name of the dish to edamame toast. I won't be ordering it again. I still love their oat milk matcha latte and may come back for another breakfast dish. I will have to continue to search for the best Avo-toast in Williamsburg...not sure why Two Hands changed perfection. read more

Came with a big party without reservation. Waited for about 15 minutes. The food portion are rather small - but then again American food portion size is just wrongly huge anyway. Would highly recommend the lemon poppy seeds waffle. It's SOOOO GOOD read more

First and last time going here, because: 1) it took 10 mins for someone to approach me to take a food and drink order 2) food (a salad, that's it) took 40 minutes to arrive 3) salad was missing the the poached egg it was supposed to come with 4) empty glass sat on table until I left. Had to flag down server for a refill, which took 10 mins to arrive 5) tip selection on POS system was already set to 20% when it was handed to me. Service did not merit a 20% tip 6) I asked about the missing poached egg, said I wanted it. It never came. I paid for it. 7) don't waste your time. I recently enjoyed an amazing meal at Two Hands Williamsburg. I had in the past enjoyed my experience at their Manhattan locations and as I was in the area and hungry seemed like the perfect time to check it out. The food was exactly what i was looking for. I went with the Pulled Chicken Bowl, it was super tasty and healthy. The coffee was also very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back. read more
