Wonderful coffee shop a lot of history they also have after work cocktails. The decor takes you back grecian tiles line the ceiling the music the old clocks and the large vault which must've been Mr JC Conwell office.

This is the most beautiful coffee places I have ever been to. Looks historic and very ancient. Love how this is in a bank vault with a real bank vault inside! Love the columns, high ceiling, nice floor pattern, with big pieces of art all over the walls. The architecture is really amazing. I ordered a hot cup of latte with one of their sandwiches called the JG's Breakfast sandwich. It got eggs, herbs, Irish bacon, pancetta, organic American cheese, and special sauce on a Kaiser roll. I was in heaven after I took a bite of it! I was so in love I cleaned the plate up. The sauce and the bacon were really good! It got a hint of spice from the special sauce. The Kaiser roll was very crispy and crunchy! It crunched inside my mouth. Loved it a lot! I'm going to order this sandwich every time I come here! The latte was very pretty and it came with a biscotti. Biscotti was very good with the latte. Too bad the latte was very little and I finished in one shot!

Ordered: 12oz Latte (~$6) with Housemade Lavender (+$1.50) Aya's take: Conwell Coffee Hall is the cafe of my dreams! It's a historic bank turned into a stunning cafe with high ceilings, dim lighting, and classic architecture. By day, it's a coffee shop and by night, it's a cocktail hall. The story of J.G. Conwell is quite interesting and it's wonderful to see his legacy live on at this Life & Trust flagship location. I got a 12oz Latte with Housemade Lavender which came with a little cookie. The Latte was warm, smoothing, and rich with the Housemade Lavender adding a sweet and floral element to each sip. They have plenty of seating but hard to snag as almost every table & couch was taken. It's kind of a waiting game as some people enjoy their drink and leave while others have laptops and might stay for hours. It's truly a one-of-a-kind NYC establishment!

A former bank turned into a high-end coffee shop and bar -- how unique! Conwell Coffee House is such a cool concept, and they've done a fantastic job preserving the original bank details. The vaulted ceilings, vintage fixtures, and even the old safes give it so much character. It feels like a true hidden gem in the Financial District -- modern, yet full of history. The drink menu is impressive, with a nice mix of coffee, cocktails, and teas. I ordered a matcha latte, which was delicious but a bit on the colder side -- not a dealbreaker, just a small miss. The food options were solid too, great for a light bite while working or catching up with a friend. Overall, it's a stylish and versatile spot -- perfect for getting some work done, meeting up, or even snapping a few photos (the space photographs beautifully). Definitely one of those under-the-radar NYC finds that deserves more buzz

My friends enjoyed the dirty chai. I had sparkling water. I would have loved a Bloody Mary, but they don't start serving cocktails til later in the day. Staff are SUPER nice and prompt. Their weekday menu includes various coffees, teas, croissants, sweet breads, soups, salads. At night they have a couple bar snacks and a few different cocktails. The main reason to visit for me was the beautiful art deco lobby and dining area. You can also see the original vault, which feels like it still whispers its secrets. They also have evening jazz events. Would definitely visit for this!

Conwell Coffee Hall is stunning! The space is a historic bank turned into a spacious coffee shop, with a huge wall mural, antique lighting fixtures, vaulted ceilings, and an overall gorgeous interior. If I'd had the time, I could've spent hours just enjoying the ambiance. We went up to order at the counter, which was the old teller window, and I got a Gingerbread Latte. The girl at the counter was friendly and service was quick, but the latte itself was pretty average. Would definitely return to try more though and to enjoy the beautiful space!

Such a cool atmosphere to have brunch! It's a dim place where you order from a bank teller window. I had a vanilla bean latte and a Benedict and both were good. I'd come here to do a work from home day as a lot of people come with laptops and drink from pots of tea or drink coffee.

I was interested in visiting Conwell for the old world bank decor and was not disappointed. The interior mural and granite columns are gorgeous. The bank teller cages are helpful in taking you back to another (better?) time. The cappuccino was excellent as was the iced tea. The croissant was good by American standards (subpar for Parisians). Overall a nice visit to another time. Best to go off hours for better seating options as there are alotta folks with laptops who sip slowly there.

Good cold brew, and close to Leo's Bagels! Lots of laptop remote workers, too. Check out the back room!

Conwell Coffee Hall is an old bank turned into a gorgeous cafe. It's dimly lit with high ceilings and seating on both sides of the entrance hall. We came on a weekday afternoon and there were many people working (or doing other things) on their laptops. They were sitting alone taking up tables and two-seaters, but we managed to grab table just as someone was leaving. You order at the beautiful counter and they will bring your order to your table. There was a line with a bit of a wait, with a bunch of people who were also ordering coffee to go. The food menu looked good for breakfast or brunch, but we were there for a tea break and looking for something sweet. Their pastry options were limited, though, so we ordered drinks and a pastry to share. Not sure I'd order the matcha latte ($8+) or pastries again, but I loved the atmosphere and will try something else next time.

Loved our dinner here! We went on a double date on a December evening and this was the perfect spot. It is equally cozy as it is spacious, and Conwell boasts a hard-to-come-by amount of table space for New York City. The place was alive and buzzing but it wasn't loud because there was so much space between tables. We got drinks at the bar first and the French 75s were delightfuuuuul. For an appetizer, we got the tater tots - a little crispier than I usually adore but I still enjoyed. For dinner we got the salmon and the steak sandwich. It was my first time ever trying salmon lol but I was feeling brave and it paid off because I loved it. Def a place to bring someone during the holiday season if they're in the city visiting! We will be back.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in NYC. feels classic and cool without having a bunch of tourist overrun it. The coffee shop is an old bank and has plenty of space with tables nicely spread out so you're not in anyone's space. The cappuccino and chocolate ganache croissant are my go-to's here and I always get some good work, thinking, and meetings done here. I don't always tip at coffee shops, but this place deserves the tip for the table service, vibe, and friendly staff. I love this place.

This was such a cool place to see, a coffee/cocktail bar inside of an old bank. Their menu was large, but we only tried the coffee and lemonade. I loved the vanilla bean latte, their syrup is made in house. And their lemonade was tart and fresh, incredibly refreshing.

While I can't comment on the wine list personally, I know they are well-known for their extensive selection. After placing our order, we were delivered the sesame pizza bianca, which is a complimentary starter bread with dinner. The bread was a nice size and light and airy with a perfect crust and a delicious, crusty sesame seed bottom. The prawns were our starter and came three to a dish. They were sizable, though since they are served with the head and tail, there isn't a ton of meat on them. That said, they were flavorful and juicy with a nice sauce and just the right amount of spice that didn't overwhelm the fish. The snowdance chicken was the star of the show! It was incredibly juicy and tender with perfectly prepared skin, so I was happy to learn they keep this on the menu year-round. It was topped with some spinach that was solid, though nothing special. We also ordered a side of mushrooms which came with a creamy sauce and fish roe intended to be mixed at the table. The roe wasn't fishy at all but added a great element of umami to the flavorful, well-textured mushrooms. Overall, the service was very professional, though I thought the pacing could have been improved as the dishes came out a bit slowly. I would also recommend ordering at least two dishes per person, as the three plates we shared between two people felt like just a touch too little food. I'm already looking forward to going back--I'd try the winter chicories salad or the veal sweetbreads next time, but I'm open to exploring everything since the quality is so high. I noticed a side dish listed on their online menu that wasn't actually offered in person, so it might be worth double-checking if you have your heart set on a specific item.
