I phoned Two Men during peak moving season (June) about an interstate move I was planning just two weeks from then. Ben, the salesman, came out within a couple of business days for an in-home estimate. I blanched a little at the price but had heard good things about them. It was worth it. The same two guys, Stan and Zac, did the loading, driving, and unloading, and they an outstanding job. They stayed in touch with me during the drive to communicate about arrival times. Everything arrived in an excellent state--no scratches, spills, or other damage. I had packed myself, and even the things that I had not packed very well arrived in good shape. The men remained cheerful, helpful, and polite in spite of hot weather--even when they unexpectedly needed to carry an oak bookcase up to the fourth floor because it was 1/4" too high to get into the elevator. Just one suggestion relates to marking boxes. The boxes that I used for framed pictures had "up" arrows on them. These boxes were turned on their sides during the move--though with no damage to contents. Because all of my other boxes were second hand and already had markings of different kinds, I should have pointed out the picture boxes or marked them in a more obvious way. read more

Hired Two Men and a Truck to carry items from basement to a Pod in the driveway for a remodel project. The group of 3 lacked organization, the wife and I had to take a 1/4 of the contents out of the Pod and repack to utilize the space better. We also discovered they broke our TV stand. We paid extra because we had exercise equipment, yet they couldn't figure out how to get the stair climber up the stairs, we moved it ourselves. I submitted the survey and never received any follow up from the company. Needless to say, this will be the last time we use this company. read more

I had a great move with this company in March 2022. Great job, nothing broken, right on schedule, excellent communication, clarity with billing. A second move in June 2023 was AWFUL. Bad estimate of volume and time needed resulting in rescheduling and also to my having to rent an additional truck on my own to move what remained. They packed everything and yet I had multiple pieces of glassware and china broken along with the glass in a china cabinet. I had organized everything with signs of how to label boxes, but I had multiple boxes with no labels at all!! Multiple delays in packing, truck arrival, and departure. Communication was awful. Despite multiple requests, I never received an itemized bill, and I was left with multiple unused boxes. Over a period of six months, all my calls to them resulted only in a message being taken and promises of receiving a callback that still has not happened. First and foremost the movers were 2 hours late arriving. They brought inferior tools to disassemble the bed frames, so disassembling them took a long time and they charge $190/hr. One of the movers was not strong enough to lift some of the heavier items of furniture, so I helped move the heavier items. When I called to speak to a manager, I was told that theses issues did not warrant any kind of refund and they were not willing to do anything to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Mybreivew is based on provided service and value. Communication from the company has been very poor. The day of the move the movers had the start time wrong. They called me in the morning when I was slotted for the afternoon. I told them the correct time. The mover said he would call the company and I asked for call back after he did so. I never got that call. Once they arrived at the scene there was a clear lack of efficiency, knowledge and prioritization. The person in charge either didn't know what he was doing or knew exactly what he was doing. If he was trained it could br argued it was for milking customers. Examples: they took apart my furniture that should not have been, they removed shelf pins that were already secure in a unit that was getting fully wrapped, they tried todining table was wrapped down to the floor which made it impossible to take out so they had to unwrap it, didn't get mattress bags, a fair amount of time they stood around contemplating or watching each other. In the end they waisted about 2 hours. I purchased the added insurance because I had just bought The Frame TV and didn't want any risks. In the end they actually damaged a velvet storage bench. Despite putting in my claim a week ago I have yet to receive an apology or any reassuring information. Overall the service was a disappointmen and it was a waist of my time and money. read more

I have used this company with good results in the past; not so this time. when the estimator came out, I showed him several woodworking devices bolted to a bench. I asked if the movers would unbolt them and move them. he said they would we are elderly, and don't have the stamina to do all the packing ourselves, so we asked to have packers do our packing. Two men came out and worked for about five hours. moving day was chaotic. some pictures were taken from the walls and moved; many were not. the machinery bolted to the workbench was not touched, and was left in the workroom. several rather heavy attachments for other tools were left unmoved, in spite of the fact that i have a weight restriction from recent surgery. in the office, many items were not moved, including a printer stand and a shredder the day after the move, I tried to contact management to see what could be done to rectify the problem. The only person I was ever able to speak with was the original estimator. He called me the day after the move and said he would be off the following day but he had contacted management and they would get back with me (they didn't). Finally at 6 pm on Friday three days after the move the estimator called me again with no satisfactory response. Moving is difficult. I would not use this company again, mainly because they failed to rectify the problems I identified Their website says they follow the Grandma view and that they work to exceed their customer expectations. My husband and I used Two Men and a truck to move us from Dewitt to 90 miles north about 6 weeks ago. We asked them to come out and look at our hosehold items and give us a quote. They said lets just do it over the phone. Well their laziness cost us dearly. The truck they used was not large enough and we ended up renting a Uhaul and moving the rest ourselves. We are 73 and 74 years old. When we called to express our dissatifaction, no one cared. We had all our boxes packed neatly with the rooms that they went in marked. They didn't care. We found grocery boxes in our bedroom, etc. They just wanted to get in and out the fastest that they could. I WOULD NEVER use this company again and would not reconmend them to anyone. Had a WONDERFUL experience with 2 men and a truck (actually 3 guys came out for the move). They were friendly, communicated very well, were caring with the items they moved out of my dads storage unit. From start to finish everything went very smoothly. I cannot complain about the price and value of the move. I am not as young as I used to be so I was glad that this company is out there to help with moving. After they got everything unloaded, I fed them Qudoba and they went on their way to the next job. They represented the company very well and worked their butts off. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! (I wrote this on a California one and now this one because it was a cross country move. Relax, grab a drink, and enjoy this read because this was an absolute hell of an experience in nothing but a negative way.) Someone could kill my entire family and I would not recommend this company to them. They lost things (some irreplaceable things like an art piece that had huge sentimental value that could never be replaced because it was made of old items from traveling journeys and such), damaged literally about 80% of our items and may I add these items had been bought within the last year, they pulled extortion (bait and switch tactic - they had packed up all of our things, waited until we were across the country then informed us that our things wouldn't fit and we would have to pay an additional $3400 than what we planned/were told. They said that we must pay or they'd keep our stuff), they did not contact us AT ALL after they told us they didn't know where our stuff was (yeah, I know, right? They dropped that bomb and then pointed fingers at which franchise's fault it was and no one called us back....we had to call three times a day, every day for WEEKS), and then delivered our stuff about a late.... We had to sleep on an air mattress in an empty home for an additional 2 weeks. Please tell me how you'd feel because my lord. I was beyond angry. So imagine dealing with them trying to pull more money out of you AFTER you literally suggested sacrificing your $1200 couch to save room (they first said that's "all" we had to do to keep our stuff in our original planned out 3 pods that were paid for....like imagine sacrificing your couch to just be done with them and never know that was only the beginning...) and then about a WEEK later (aka they didn't ship it though they were supposed to immediately) they still said you owed $3400 because whoever told you the couch would solve the problem didn't know what they were talking about and that the 3 pods now needed to be 5 pods .... Then imagine sorting out all of THAT bull and sacrificing money (we didn't have to pay the 3400 because we told them they were literally doing something illegal but lost $700 still), waiting WEEKS, and you're so happy to get your stuff that it feels like Christmas morning and then..... most of it is broken. I am saying literally everything I did not pack myself was broken (e.g., shattered vanity mirror [1 year old], torn leather couch [1 year old], torn leather recliner [1 year old], damaged [brand new] keyboard/piano, damaged and missing art piece ranging from $100-$4000, boxes completely crushed down, broken nightstand [1 year old], etc etc.). There is a lot more detail to this story but honestly I will save you the read because I think you get the point. Terrible service, terrible customer service, terrible everything. DO. NOT. USE. THEIR. SERVICES. So like normal people, we were pretty upset. We contacted them (California), headquarters, and the Chicago location (I will be writing reviews for them as well if I can). NONE of the locations, including headquarters, said it was their fault. They all pointed fingers at each other. No one will do anything. We made an extremely organized excel document stating we just wanted our stuff fixed and/or money sent in for the damaged goods that could not be repaired so we could replace them. We put up the links showing the prices of each item to show we were not exaggerating the cost by any means. We explained everything that had happened and just simply wanted our stuff fixed. We had the plan that replaced up to $16,000 full. We literally only asked for $3,700 (amount to replace everything broken) which was SO generous on our behalf because my god lets be real. Guess what they responded with....they would only cover $1,500. I am not kidding. After everything. They thought $1,500 was okay. Please. Imagine this. Tell me how you'd feel. We obviously disputed it and questioned why they felt that was fair. We then grew pretty upset (obviously) and implored them to reconsider. The saga continues. Sent me to collections for 300% inflated price with no inventory or bill of lading. They are suing me but failed to respond to counter complaint or claim for lost or damaged goods. Putting stuff on trucks and jacking the price is so common now it's a cliche and these guys jumped right on the bandwagon. Fortunately for me I have witnesses galore. File a complaint with FMCSA, BBB, ATTORNEY GENERAL, and call the police. Also try moverescue.com. It is against the law to conduct business in this way. First of many hearings coming up. This review is my opinion of what happened when I hired 2M&T to move an item from a house in Dewitt to my house in Lansing. Remember now... you are basically signing an open-ended contract with them when you agree to do business. (The moving industry is rife with scum and scammers). They will make sure you only get vague information and some fine print. If all goes well and you pay, you think wow that was great. If a problem occurs this is when their corporate greed comes out BIG TIME. BEWARE. The general manager there is a tiny little man (not stature) named Michael. He is tasked with ensuring that all policies of 2M&T are enforced and he is gest@po-like in that effort. The owners must be really happy they hired him. :( I treated Jesse, (title unknown) pretty well for as mad as I was on Saturday morning. Jesse seems to be a nice person and he did what he could to resolve the problem that Saturday. He told me he would take this to his General Manager on Monday to see what could be done. Jesse either couldn't or wouldn't take my call this Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning and tell me the bad news. I would have much preferred hearing it from him over hearing the oral diarrhea of that blow-hole Michael. I really wonder if the general manager has that stick up his @ss changed on a regular basis. Oh! Another thing. The 1 hour minimum is a basically a joke. They start charging you when they leave the office and don't stop charging you until they make it back. Most of that first hour is going to be spent in transit. So unless you live really close to them, ---------------YOU ARE PAYING THEM OVER $100 TO DRIVE------------- You are most likely going to spend closer to $300 to have them do ANYTHING. Also, I suspect that they do not return to the office after the completion of a job, but go directly to their next job. I suspect that they are probably double billing you and the next customer during that overlap. ------------------ T H E C R U X O F T H E P R OB L E M------------------- So, the labor coordinator, Katie, called me at 8:19 am Saturday morning and said they were leaving the office and it would be 25 minutes or so to arrive in Dewitt at approx. 8:45. (that would leave 15 minutes of my first hour.) I arrived at maybe 8:53 and they were gone. They didn't communicate to me that they were leaving. They just left. Isn't that nice? I was probably 2 or 3 miles away and they just left. ------------------------ L E S S O N L E A R N E D -------------------------------- DO NOT EVER GIVE 2M&T A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. As a matter fact based on their corporate hit man Michael I would not do business with them at all. Uncaring, cold, little man. Yeah, yeah, I was in a bind and needed help at the last moment Of course, it was my fault for giving them non-refundable money as I found out on a Friday that I needed them on Saturday. Since there is less than 24 hours to cancel, the deposit is non-refundable. It is a lesson learned for sure. I really thought they were a good company. They screwed me over with poor communication, they bailed on me after 5 minutes, and I got ZERO help. This company is horrible, they quoted me $1,400 to move everything and ended up paying $2,000 because they took much longer to move everything. Might I add we only moved 5 minutes away to another house, and several things were broke on the way over. They hit our walls, scratched our furniture and did not act professionally what so ever. 2 of our beds are missing screws and are not put together correctly, and they broke our granite countertop and then tried to blame us. Stay any longer and the property managers can charge extortionist fees on par with credit card companies for being a day late. I'd expect a moving company, especially one as large and successful as Two Men and a Truck, to make expediency and deadlines central to their business model. The Lansing franchise must have so much business they can toss out efficiency altogether. When my good friend and her fiance decided to move in together, they called up Two Men and a Truck well in advance of their moving date to schedule a move. No one answered or returned a message. After waiting a few days, they both tried again individually. Still no response. I put in a call to help them out and, thirteen days later, the office still has yet to return that call. The phone number works, but the office is apparently empty or the staff so overworked they never respond to any technology other than semaphore signals or Morse code. Who has time to fart around playing phone tag while trying to plan a move? Certainly not anyone with money on the line. The unprofessional customer service made it impossible to schedule a move, and suffice to say, none of us were very impressed. I made a recommendation for another Lansing-area moving company. I had one very fragile curio cabinet to move about 100 miles. The company sent 2 men and a VERY large rental truck for the move. The move itself was pretty efficient. However, the drivers ran into our shade tree at the street, tearing a major limb from the middle of the tree. We have a tree trimming program in our city, so this tree is trimmed annually to accommodate snow plows and other vehicles. Semi trucks are not considered a normal vehicle for our cul-de-sac, so the trees are not expected to accommodate them. I contacted Administration at Two Men and a Truck as soon as the damage occurred. They agreed to research and get back with me. When they did, they said they were not liable for damages because the tree was on city property and the tree should have been trimmed to accommodate vehicles in the street. The remainder of the street and the driveway was available for the truck. The inexperience of the driver led to damage to my 25 year old tree. I recommend supervising the arrival and parking of trucks to protect your property. read more

I am writing this for my parents who just used this company to move. To start the experience, the movers showed up 1.5 hours late because the driver overslept. A detailed inventory was provided, but the 50 boxes included on the list ended up being moved before the moving day so there should have been extra room. However, the truck they brought could not fit everything. Rather than offering to come back and make things right, they just moved what they could fit and then left my parents to figure out how to transfer all the remaining things that were on the inventory list to start with! The movers damaged the walls and countertops in the place my parents moved into. They had to disassemble their sleep number bed, but then said they couldn't reassemble it and my parents would have to call the company to do it. My parents had to remind them to apply the deposit or they would have been overcharged $500 for this terrible service. It was my parents first time moving and ended up being such a mess. I used this company to unload a truck that was packed by a different moving company. They were careful, quick and affordable had no issues. Hired them again to move me across town and that's when the issues began. They do not have large trucks. They do not tell you this when you send them a list of your items. They will do a second run. But don't bother to tell you that. You are then calling every friend you know who has a truck to take the rest of your belongings. You call the office and they inform you they will do a second run if they misquote the amount needed to be moved. But your friends truck is loaded down and they haven't even started unloaded your things yet. They were unprofessional, rude, scratched the floors in the home I was renting, scratched antique pieces of furniture, did not wrap the beds or a white couch with plastic. All were covered in dust and dirt and were wet and stained from the movers sweat. I had to clean the beds myself in order to have a place to sleep. The new white couch is ruined. Multiple attempts to have them do more than ask Stanley Steamer to attempt to get out the dirt, sweat and stains left by the movers have gone unanswered. This does not even cover half of how unprofessional these people are. I have moved 8 times and have never dealt with a company this bad. Do not use them!!!! read more

This was one Huge MISTAKE!!! If you are thinking of hiring this company I hope you rethink it! 1st They sent someone to my mothers (83 yrs old) house to give her a quote They gave her a quote of 1600 hundred dollars. Told her they would wrap or box everything to protect it. They had huge plastic sticky floor covers to protect her WHITE Carpet. She had blue shoe covers and was told they would not use those but would cover her floors to protect them. They had 2 floor runners. AND THE SECOND TRIP DIDN'T USE THEM AT ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE LEFT AT MY HOUSE,THEY DIDN'T PROTECT MY FLOOR EITHER!! She was told that the people who packed her belongings would also be moving her. That was lie number 2. One of the employees who was suppose to move her didn't show up so they were 3 hours late! It didn't take the packers as long as they thought,BECAUSE they didn't wrap or pack everything,her GLASS LAMPS were moved without any protective coverings at all. They were carried by the movers by holding them by the shades! The TV stand was not protected and was scratched on the top. They used my mothers tape and bubble wrap to cover yard decor. They must have ran out and got into her personal stash. They marked boxes as Kitchen or living room,then just put all kinds of stuff in it. She has a small Christmas tree that she keeps in a plastic bag stored until Christmas,they did not protect it at all,she leaves it decorated,all the decor was broken as the tossed it on its side and dropped it on our garage floor! All the tree decor will have to be replaced! When they came to move her the QUOTE went from 1600 dollars to 2945.28 cents FOR A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE! Single person,now when my husband and I moved we rented a truck that was smaller then the two men and a truck...truck and we moved a 5 bedroom house (BELONGINGS) IN ONE TRIP. Yet it took 2 men and a truck to trips to move a small one bedroom house (belongings) SO THEY COULD CHARGE HER MORE.WE have 4 witnesses that saw the first load had plenty of extra space,they were just trying to justify the HUGE PRICE JUMP! This was flat out elder abuse! She felt horrible about the way they destroyed the carpet so she was trying to clean them for the man who bought her house. Billy and Kevin were totally professional and did an outstanding job. This was not an easy move. It entailed moving some furniture from one place to another, then stop at a third place, then finally reach our destination. The team started around 10 AM and ended after 11 PM. I called and emailed with the office to schedule a move. We selected a time and day, I sent them the pictures the requested, and they gave me a price that I agreed to. The time and day comes (which I used a vacation day for) and, after about an hour of waiting I called them to see why they hadn't arrived. The office said that I technically didn't reserve an appointment (which we had agreed on a day, time and price, so I don't know what more they wanted from me) and made it seem like it was my fault that it wasn't scheduled. I mentioned to them that I had email correspondence that would say otherwise, so they told me that they could be there at 10am the next day. I reluctantly agreed because we had to be out of the apartment by the end of the week and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find another place to do it. So the next day I'm waiting around for another hour and call again to see where they are when the office tells me that it's actually a 2 hour window for when they'll arrive. So I had to miss another half day of work. No refunds, no discounts, no apologies. And the office made it seem like it was all my fault. Oh and they also charge you an insane amount extra if it takes them longer than they think it will to drive to the new place, even though they have the new address ahead of time when they give you the quote. read more

From the moment they arrived at my house yesterday morning through loading 2 trucks and unloading at my new home they quite literally ran all day long. Kind, thoughtful movers did a perfect job. We hired this company for a short distance move. My husband labeled everything, we packed all the clothes dishes etc. The company only had to move our large items. The movers themselves were very nice but still asked a little too many questions which wasted some precious hourly time.Consumers beware:: this company charges a hidden fee for moving /damage insurance. They dont call it that legally but put it was in the bill! ON the quote its worded something different than the bill. They diguise it via different wording so you cant figure it out.Our charge was $100.00 for insurance we already have with our policy. They will deny this and call it something other than damage insurance. The other moving companies asked us up front if we wanted the extra coverage of course not! Two men also say they record your conversations without you knowing it!! It all is a big scam to make money off the customers without being aware of the hidden charge. They are overpriced and would not recommend them for our next move in 9 months! Consumers beware!! read more

I had Two Men & Truck move my items to their storage warehouse for a month and then to my new home. I had a few items broken. They did fix or replace most of them. But at this point I can't trust them with my items. I've used other movers in the past and all of my items managed to make it to my new place unharmed. I also had a difficult time getting information pre-move from the office as people would say they would call me and never would. Communication is a problem. I will say the two guys who brought my stuff to my new home were awesome. They were very polite and running to get loads. I was very impressed with them, but not enough to trust Two Men again. read more
