Bottom Line: Game variety spans 80s classics to early 2000s with more recent pinballs along one wall, Draft tap selection consists of microbrew to niche breweries, Passionate operators/owners Visit: 03:15pm - 6:00pm, Thursday, June 15, 2017 Overview: Think neighborhood arcade from back in the day without carpet and with a few early 2000-era machines thrown in. The polished floor and custom tables give off a micro brew vibe, but with a skee ball-like rewards counter that we have all seen at more corporate amusement centers which serves bar duty. Location: The business is located less than a minute by car off of Interstate 70. Situated in what appears to be a 60s to 70s-era strip mall, this arcade and brewery sits on the end closest to the interstate. A bit of history about this spot, this part of the strip used to be 'Marine Solutions', a fish equipment store. Interior: The layout of the bar and arcade works well. Patrons are there to play games, so there is little hold up customers from getting to the small bar when they need to grab another drink. There are about six custom wooden tables with unattached wooden stools mostly in the center of the layout that allow folks to have a chat. Some of the unique highlights inside are the row of Japanese "Candy Cabinets", an old telephone booth that is electrified (does not have a pay phone inside, yet), and the redesigned IKEA-flower lamps that sit above the bar which look like Inky, Blinky, and other ghosts from Pac-Man. Food: I did see some food in the refrigerator, but I do not think that was for sale. I never asked if food was allowed to be brought in. Update: Just checked the website; food can be ordered in. Service: It was a real treat to be able to talk with one of the co-owners of Two Plumbers Brewery and Arcade. Learning about some of the behind the scenes, like the flooding basement that serves as somewhat of an R&D for creating new resin controller balls, as well as the consideration in the early stages of the space to include a "maker" area, along with the inner workings of the beer list display powered by a Raspberry-Pi. There was a female bartender working, who was the first to greet us and fill us in a bit on their house beers. Unfortunately, I found her insipid (word for the day) and almost annoyed when we asked for samples from the taps. Nothing to the point of killing business, but she did not help the vibe. Games: You can find a full list of games on their website. After reviewing the game list I found, I would say it seems to match up mostly with what I saw. I guess anything other than 80s classics really just doesn't register with me. It seems like the online list is longer than what was out for play. However, some of the titles listed online I have no clue as to what they are. There was a row of games along the wall on the left when you first walk in that were obviously generic wood-grain laminate cabinets. What I mean by that is they were PC emulators running on a flat screen monitor. The cabinets and controls were identical among all of them. It fills the space, but not what I want to spend any money on. House Beers: I am not an expert in this department, and everyone has different taste. With that in mind, all of the beers Two Plumbers makes were interesting, but something I could not drink a full pint of. I resorted to the sole Schlafly draft offering, which I believe was 'Summer Lager'. Side Notes and Personal Thoughts: Personally, I am a fan of the TouchTunes concept. They have a machine here. However, I find TouchTunes' business terrible. The co-owner of Two Plumbers informed us that the way TouchTunes works now is that any credits purchased at a given location can only be used at that location. How stupid. Regardless, I liked being able to play Kraftwerk's 'Pocket Calculator' while sitting among all the classic electronics. Be sure to grab the app for your phone so you can drink your beer and play DJ. If this spot were closer to my home, I could see me being a fairly regular customer. Being able to relive my arcade years, along with the ability to dial up music of my choosing is a big plus. It would be great to see the business expand into other nerdy areas, but that will take time and money. The business was definitely thriving on a Thursday afternoon after 3pm, which was great to see. There was talk of a South County location, but I think it is just a notion more than anything solid, at this point. T-Shirts using comfortable textile, according to the co-owner, with this spot's logo are available for $20, if you want a memento or just want to help with promotion. Summary: If you are a beer fan who likes video games or just an arcade fan alone and find yourself in the neighborhood, it is worth a visit. Even if you are not in the neighborhood, I would say the trip is worthwhile, at least once. read more

We had a blast! Several beers to choose from. Some local. A couple made there! Our first nano brewery visit! Also had some food at their food window provided by Guerrilla street food! Very yummy. Once one tap is gone at the bar they add a different. Nice way to try different things! Also loved the arcade games AND the board games. They had ya huge selection of board games including cards against humanity too! Also very affordable! $5-8 beer, $7-12 food, $0.25-.50/game!! Great night, not over the top expensive! You can "bring in food" but if you have food in a cup they make you leave. We brought sundaes from Dairy Queen across the street and they made us leave because it was technically in a cup. read more

One thing about Robert and John at Two Plumbers is that their passions for fun and beer are very evident. The service at Two Plumbers is always great. It's not necessarily a beer snob's hang out and the beer (while good) is not quite on par with some of the other brewers in the area. There is also a limited selection of their own brews (partially due to limited brewing space) They are on target to raise the ante, however, as they continue to tweak recipes and hone their craft. Two Plumbers is a great concept and a lot of fun. We enjoyed everything about it. Lots of pinball and arcade games to choose from -- the prices are very fair. Many good options at the bar. You can bring in or order food from the outside. That is nice, get a pizza or something and come play in the arcade! They are building out their brewery, so some reviews mentioned they were out of their own brews. I'm sure this will change as they expand capacity. We tried one of their Smoke Ports and it was very good. They stocked many other terrific options to try. One of the owners was friendly and took time to talk with us. I live close by and will definitely make Two Plumbers a frequent stop. I wish them many successes as they build the business. read more

Two Plumbers is a fun place to hang out and grab a beer in St. Charles. They have a nice arcade with a wide variety of games. In addition, they also have numerous board games and large tables to sit and play with friends. They are a small brewery and they make their own beer. They have a good selection of beer at reasonable prices. They recently opened an outpost of Guerrilla Streetfood in the bar, so now you are able to order food in the bar. I have been a fan of Guerrilla Streetfood for years, so it is very exciting to have a location in St. Charles. Guerrilla serves Filipino food and my favorite dish is the Flying pig- roasted pork over a bed of rice with hoison sauce, Sriracha, scallions, sesame seeds, and a soft boiled egg. Two Plumbers tends to draw a more male crowd, though everyone is welcomed with open arms- except minors under 21. read more

Really liked this place. The cabinets they have are awesome! I've never played Super Mario Bros. 3 at an arcade until visiting this spot. They do have private parking and bartenders to cover inside. If you confuse them with the bar beside them......well we share the same problem. The smoke in the other bar should give it away. If you enter the right door you are transported back to the 90's video games.....It's non smoking AND there are video games everywhere!! It's like going back in time. This is a fun little place to hang out. I'd recommend coming here during the day on the weekend rather than at night. it gets much busier at night as you can imagine. They have a ton of great games, and they try to rotate new ones in on occasion. Their native brews leave a lot to be desired, but their guest taps are usually always on point. I love that pretty much everything is just a quarter, so a little goes a long way. It allowed me to finally beat Time Crisis! Seems to be a decent place --- especially in st Charles. Their German Alt Beer is an easy drinking brew. Taps are generally IPA heavy. Things we didn't like-- not friendly bar tenders, Someone had a 50th birthday party and had taken up three of the tables even though they weren't using the tables. I went here Saturday night with my spouse. We got a babysitter, so it was a big date night for us. The place was busy, but not too busy for the bartenders to be so nice, welcoming, and personable. Unfortunately they had ran out of their own brews, but they are working on that. After we got our beers, we scoured the games. This is a fun way to enjoy a beer.
