Tasty food here! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Initially declined sitting outside on the patio because I figured road noise from the interstate would be horrible, but found out it was laid out well and we enjoyed our food and drinks on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was very good. I like this place and their food and drinks. Although I have to give a lower rating because when I asked the waitress to check if our food would be safe because my sister and I have a nut allergy, she came back to say she doesn't know about anything in the fryer because all the chefs in the kitchen claimed to "not know what goes in the fryer." So hearing that made us uncomfortable with not only our allergy but why does nobody who cooks the food take the time to think and know what food goes in their fryer. It's disappointing because allergies and food intolerances are not an uncommon thing these days and in our situation the allergy is very severe. read more

I've been to the Public House many times and love it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior looked especially cool--super festive and decorated for Christmas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The beers are great--especially the IPAs, wheats and stouts. The food is very good as well--my favorite is the jalapeño Mac and cheese bite appetizer but the burgers, salads and pizza are also good. I like to sit at the bar and the bartender that is there most of the time is awesome--so helpful, friendly and efficient. However, the service yesterday was very lacking. We counted 11 staff members just standing around and talking to each other while totally ignoring us. Three were at the end of the bar and we sat there for about 5-10 minutes before the bartender came out from the kitchen and gave us a menu. We were the only ones sitting at the bar and it would have been nice if one of those three employees had told us that the bartender would be coming out soon or at least give us a menu. The bartender was very good though--quite friendly and helpful--she gave us several samples of beer and food recommendations. We ordered the bites and a mushroom Swiss burger which came out exceedingly fast and both were very good. We had several Giddy Goats which were super tasty and cold...my boyfriend isn't a huge fan of stouts but he loved this one! We checked out the store on our way out and my boyfriend decided to buy a six-pack to go. He went back to the bar, holding his wallet out to pay but all the employees just ignored him for several minutes so he got tired of waiting and left without buying it. We don't understand why there were so many employees milling around doing nothing and ignoring patrons? Are the employees not taught to cover various tasks? Even so, they should be aware of the customers' needs and find the employee responsible for that task. I could understand if it was super busy but it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was nearly empty . I love this place and will continue to be a regular customer but hope for much better service next time! read more

Ate lunch at Public House on a Saturday with a group of 6. We shared the Trout Fritters and Crab Rangoon Nachos to start. We ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Pub Banh Mi Sandwich, a burger, the BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza, and the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza. The food is decent but not amazing. I don't think anyone is smoking the meat or making dough here. The beer is good and the place is nice, as is the patio, and the highway proximity. When we walked in I asked the hostess to make sure I got the check before the rest of my party walked in. By the time we sat down and the server came around all of my party was there so the whole point was me not asking in front of them. She either couldn't or wouldn't get that done for me because the check was brought to the opposite end of the table. All in all if you need to stop somewhere in this area it's probably one of the better choices. read more

This place is great! We brought a little blanket and water bowl for our dog, and the host brought us to a spot in the shade. We loved eating on the patio, especially the fact that it wasn't too crowded. Everyone was pretty spread out and there was lots of seating. You absolutely must order the gnocchi as an appetizer! We had no idea what to expect but it was soooo good. It was also pretty filling, so keep that in mind if you don't like to fill up on your appetizer. The fries were amazing too, which I feel is important to note, because sometimes fries are just "there" but don't add much to the meal. Not in this case - they were a nice, crispy, flavorful bonus. The inside looks like a cool place to hang out when the weather isn't as good. We live far away from here, otherwise we'd be here all the time! read more

The burger we got was good but unfortunately the Nashville chicken sandwich wasn't. The chicken was tough and seemed too old to serve. Our server didn't really care for our table and didn't check up as often as we hoped. Therefore I didn't let the server know since they never asked. Plenty of parking outside and tons of seating inside. Decent sized beer list and we ordered a flight of 6: Cream Ale - Not as creamy as I anticipated but very light and crisp. Easy to drink and pretty good. Among the Willows Pilsner - I really enjoyed this Pilsner, it was refreshing and easy to drink as well. My favorite out of the 2 lighter ones we chose. Revelation Stout - definitely get the Roasted Coffee through the taste and enjoyable. Not overpowering at all and a great Stout. Giddy Goat Coffee Milk Stout - bit of a creamier coffee and the sweetness is a great aspect of the beer. Probably my favorite out of the 6. Anthony's Pacification 2021 - Maltier than the other 2 Stout but still pretty good. House Party 2! Guava Gose - Fruity notes in the smell but more tart than I anticipated. The tartness is not overpowering and you do get hints of the guava. Pretty good introductory sour. For food, we ordered the Deviled Eggs Flight and Ploughman's board. Deviled Eggs were pretty decent and the ploughman's board was also alright. The pretzel was pretty tough. Overall good beer and friendly staff! read more

Stopped here on our way home from Springfield, Mo. The place is very big and open and has a chill vibe. They have a decent beer menu and some cocktails. They also have wine from St. James winery next door. The food menu has a good selection. I got the bison burger and my husband got the Nashville chicken sandwich. The bison burger was good as well as the Nashville sandwich. I didn't really like the hot sauce used on the chicken sandwich but my husband enjoyed it. The fries also have some good seasonings on them. Our waitress was friendly and would come to check on us often. It did take some time to get our food but we weren't waiting too long for it. Food: We had the roasted Gnocchi, half Cesar Salad, and Margherita Pizza. The toasted gnocchi were so yummy. Lightly fried potato morsels of heaven topped with a pesto sent from the gods. Loved every bite. I could make a meal of the gnocchi and salad and be so happy! But I had to share with my wife! The salad was great, really nice Cesar dressing and a tiny crouton which I love. And the Margherita pizza was so great. I love a fresh mozzarella pizza, the sauce is a perfect tomato sauce that's not too sweet. And the crust is a thing crust with a slight chew. Mmmmmm soooo good. While eating we were planning on our next meal there. Atmosphere: It's so cozy for a big pub. Everything is wood, and it gives such a welcoming vibe. Just don't sit near any doors in the winter. Lol. But I chose the table so... Beer: My wife had a Pilsner (forgot the name) at lunch and we brought back some Giddy Goat stout. Both ends is the beer spectrum were yummy. Had a quick lunch with my husband. I ordered the trout fritter appetizer as my entree. They were little fried balls of tender trout, over a bed of homemade remoulade. They were delicious and the crunch of the outside with the soft inside was a perfect balance. My husband ordered a pub burger, which was perfectly cooked (medium) and the onion jam was a delicious topping. He also ordered the Public House Elusive IPA, which is a favorite of his. Our waiter Max was exceptional. Very friendly and attentive. We are inside this time, which is a beautiful, modern rustic building with lots of seating. Lovely atmosphere. The outside is set up with multiple tables and gardens for decor. There is a fountain and several games. The perfect place to chat with a group of friends and enjoy the weather. Excellent on all points! We stopped on the way back from St. Louis to SGF, MO after a doctor's appointment. They nailed every aspect of hospitality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside in their beautiful garden flush with gorgeous flowers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Charlie executed brand representation and genuine great service ALL around. We did pizza selections with wine and beer pairings of the Norton 42 and MO IPA. The local mushrooms from Cold Creek and Ozark Forest Mushrooms where well balanced on the pizzas with the sauce and wood fired crust. The Smokin' Hubster is a distance learner at MS&T and a classmate recommended coming here (in fact, he met us!). I had been drinking awesome Public House brews all across Rolla, so it was time to visit the Mother Ship! The space is pretty comfortable, a nice mix of bar, seating area and retail. Lots of shirts and other apparel are available for sale. It was neat to take a look at the offerings before settling into the menu. Our server was Alyce and she was very helpful with the menu, both beer and food. I put down a few Vignoles IPAs, a variety that I had not yet tried (hard to believe!). The Smokin' Hubster had Rod's Cream Ale, another helpful suggestion from an MS&T professor. The food menu is very diverse. While Hubster enjoyed a Blue Moon Burger and roasted potatoes (see my photos, the burger is drool-worthy!), I enjoyed getting my veggies on with the braised short rib (again, sexy photos shared). The servings were generous and I enjoyed some short rib and veggies at breakfast the next day. If you're a fan of the brews, get in here and try them paired with some awesome food. Came here after a whelming visit to St. James Winery. Public House Brewing Company is on the other side of the parking lot. The patio is pretty nice! The inside looks like a fun place to spend hot days too. We split a Marguerite pizza. It was pretty good-- dough tasted good-- but one too many sizeable bubbles. We waited a few minutes longer than I'd have hoped for pizza, but they were getting busy. This is a worthwhile stop if you need lunch on highway 44. read more

Always a good time! Their beer is great and so is the food! It's a nice place to go with just adults or with the kids too. Their outside seating is usually pretty packed in the warmer months like today but it's so nice out that its worth the wait. We like Public House but it's not super consistent. The last time we went my husband's beers were not cold. I loved my pizza and it was great the next day too. I have to say the crust is great day one but not after that. It will be a cracker. I appreciate that their ingredients are fresh and I will come back for their OZARK Mushroom pizza. If you take anything from this review, know the food and drinks were very disappointing and the way too expensive. To start it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged. Once we ordered the food it came out at way different times, and we weren't told that was going to happen until they brought all the food. The wine slushies we underwhelming, especially for the $12 charge. We ordered the margarita pizza, fried ravioli, burger and pulled pork. The pizza toppings were sparse and crust was covered in flour. The fried ravioli tasted frozen quality and dry. The burger was soggy and oily, and was not a $16.50 burger. And the pulled pork definitely came from the microwave. I am not sure how this place had a 4.4 average because we had a terrible experience. read more

Unique place in the area!! Their beers are ok (I'm very picky, so ok is pretty good). However, their food is delicious! Loved their German potato salad and the Garden Salad. The hubs liked the Country Fried Chicken. Definitely need to go back for the wood fire pizza! One thing I feel missing on Yelp is how kids friendly this place is! The Gardens at least. They have Bocchi Ball, Giant Chess, Giant Jenga, and I thought I saw more games. Also, it's completely fenced in, so having a toddler, it was nice be able to let him run around! I've been back many times since my first review five years ago and was pleased and continued to come back. Even though COVID limited menu and staff shortage, it was fine the atmosphere and food was good. But today is my last trip. There were 7 dogs and most all were big dogs, in the dining area, under tables and big enough to put their head on the table. I do not enjoy eating with the dogs. I didn't think the restaurants were allowed to accept dogs unless papers were shown for the dog being a service animal. I asked the wait staff about all the dogs and was told, "we have concrete floors, clean up is easy". So if you are okay eating with the dogs, this place is for you, if not I'd choose another place. read more

We saw the billboard for this place and they allow dogs so we decided to meet a friend here for lunch. They have a huge outdoor garden area! Our server immediately brought water over for the dogs and even brought us a pitcher to fill them up. He took the time to let us know what they were out of up front so we could decide appropriately. He recommended the house made wonton jalapeño poppers and they did not disappoint! I opted for the pub burger and it was perfectly cooked and chose the rosemary fries as my side. I did try the half pint of the blackberry wine slushy. It was too sweet for me, but I shared it. Our server was really great! I would have given five stars if the inside of the restaurant wasn't so dark and the bathroom. I legit couldn't see the lock on the back of the door to get out. Great place to grab a beer and a quick bite to eat. They have two restaurant, this one and one in Saint James. This location does not have a full menus they are pretty much a brewery with food Vs the other location has a full kitchen and offer a wide variety of options on the menu. Nevertheless the pizza that I ordered here was very good and is a nice size to share with two people or one really hungry person may be able to eat it all. First- the food was good. The outdoor space looks awesome. All else was super annoying. First- is it clean to have the waitress hand you a pen that was nestled in the bun she had her hair tucked into? It just struck me as bad form. All I can think of is this girl at the office that used to scratch her head with a pen during meetings. I always thought she had a whole biology class living up there... but maybe I'm just tainted from my bad memory. I'm also not sure they understand that they are a brew house. People might come there with a suspicion that they could easily get a beer. However we were informed there was only 1 bartender for a very busy Saturday when the service was very much delayed for our beer order. (This was also the Saturday for the university in town to move in- so surprised this wasn't bettter managed.) I think they were also confused on the order of things. My son's pizza came out 20 minutes before any other food. Then our other entrees arrived. And then last came the appetizers- which I'm pretty sure are named that way to serve BEFORE the meal. I mean, I'm no expert...so maybe this is a new thing. We sat outdoors and unfortunately our plans to have good table conversation were overridden by a musical performance. The singer was actually really talented - but way too loud. He even played acoustic- which would have been fantastic if the sound wasn't drowning out all other attempts at socializing. (We did ask to have the volume adjusted- but I think they only adjusted the level for the guitar- so the vocals were still overpowering- and maybe even more so since their background music was more relegated to the background.) we did end up tipping the vocalist- as none of that was his fault and he really was good. Then it was like the noise wasn't offensive enough at that level- so some guy decided to start pounding on whiskey barrels with a hammer. Not sure what that was about- maybe he was practicing for the Smithey job a Silver Dollar City. If noise is a job qualification, he's a shoe in. I had a beer flight. It seems I surprised the waitress at the brew house by my order because she was not prepared to offer me the flight selections. That said, I love the beer selections. It was great to be able to try so many. Try revelation stout if you get a chance. The Peach Cream Ale was also pretty tasty. This is just minor- but- I do dislike when the waitress stands at one corner of a very large table and expects you to yell your order to her. It's like she was conserving her steps because she already hit her step goal for the day. To add to that, there were a lot of "what?" responses- so Uber annoying. The food selections are really good. We had an appetizer - or is that a post meal thing now?- of Pimento Cheese Dip. Really good. I would have enjoyed a lot more of it if it was served while I was waiting on my entree. We also ordered the humus- but that was just meh. The burgers are pretty lean- so if you're looking for a juicy burger, pass- but they were adorned with other tasty things- so not half bad. I had the house salad with chicken/ and I'd recommend getting dressing on the side. Seems it could have used a little more moisture. My son had the Ozark Mushroom pizza. (Which was served 20 minutes ahead of our other food/ and he waited a bit to not be rude - so it was a bit less than hot) but it was reportedly good. Funny that towards the end of the meal- another staff person came out with an Ozark Mushroom pizza. Our best guess is that there is another bad Yelp review in their future from a different customer who waited a long time for their Ozark Mushroom pizza. The venue is pretty cool outdoors- has a great space for the kids to toss a cornhole game or run around a bit while you wait for a meal. My sister and husband both have been a few times before and had a great experience on weekdays- but they too were surprised at how things had taken a different turn today. Hopefully the owner will see this review and make a few adjustments to add to the quality consistency in the experience.
