This is a trek for me since I don't live in town but we started going there once we heard they let the dogs hang out all day outside and only kennel them for meal times and nighttime, vs the place closer to us where they kennel them for the majority of the time. Our three-year old Robbie is the third dog our family to have a "stay-cation" at Two Rock. His predecessors loved staying there when we traveled and now Robbie loves it too. It gives us peace of mind that all dogs who stay at the Ranch have been evaluated beforehand. We also appreciate the fact that the dogs (during the day) are able to go out and in as they wish and are not crated up as some boarding other places we checked.. One of our previous dogs had a medical issue arise while at the Ranch (we were vacationing in Hawaii). Duffy was treated by a Vet affiliated with the Ranch and we were kept up to date via phone. So far so good. I like to take my dogs to daycare once or twice a week because they ARE my kids and demand a lot of my time and attention. My two oldest ( 3 & 4 yrs ) passed with flying colors within 30 min of being there. Which is a HUGE blessing for me because my oldest is about 5 lbs and normally likes to be left alone. She has also failed other trails at other daycare/boarding facilities due to this. BUT HERE SHE WAS PLAYING! They told me when I picked them up that she even got one of the older senior poodles to play with her I LOVE the lack of kenneling during the day and letting the dogs do their own thing. There's plenty of areas to play and the rates are EXCELLENT compared to the previous place I was going to. I have one more pup that needs a trial, but I'm pretty sure I found our new day care and hoarding facility! read more

The Bear is one big, happy, furry dog, as you can see in his photo. We have boarded him numerous times at Cotati Dog Boarding. He loves to play with other dogs, and gets pretty excited when arriving for a "vacation." Be aware that despite the "Cotati" name, the boarding facility is on the west end of Middle Two Rock Road, a bit west of Petaluma. The grooming faciilty is actually in Cotati, and they have done an excellent job when we've taken Bear there. The staff is great, and you get the impression from everyone that they really like working there and being around dogs all day. They have large, fenced outdoor areas for play and lounging in decent weather, and nice indoor areas for sleeping. The Bear is always totally wiped out for a couple of days after we pick him up, a sure sign he's had a good time. When you pick up your beastie, you get a "report card" and photos. The report card is a bit cutsie, but it does reassure you that you haven't abandonded your best friend - and the photos prove that a good time was had. We never feel guilty about leaving the Bear in their capable hands. read more

It was a long and trying journey to find the best dog boarding solution for our dogs. I can confidently say that Two Rock Dog Ranch is that ideal solution. I've had nothing but excellent experiences here. After staying at *other* (will remain nameless) places, our dogs have come home in various distressed states even after being boarded for just a few days. They've: been chewed on; smelled like they'd camped out in a port-o-john for a week; had conjunctivitis; looked like they hadn't EATEN for a week; had their nails worn to the quick and beyond; etc... After staying at Two Rock, they've come home looking great, and very clearly happy and healthy. I tend to get some separation anxiety if I have to board my dogs for more than a couple of days, but thanks to this place and the excellent facility and staff, I have peace of mind when I board them. I know the dogs will be fine. The boarding area itself is extremely clean and professionally maintained. The play areas are terrific. Nice, soft sand, which is easy on joints and nails. Adventure-laden jungle gym structures. Lots of other friendly dogs. I can't possibly recommend this place highly enough. If you want to board your dog without fear that it will be left in a box all day, or exposed to unhealthy conditions, this is your spot. read more

Over the years we've taken our two boxers to a variety of different dog boarding establishments. Two Rock Dog Ranch is by far the best run, most professional, best price and employs the kindest folks around. Our dogs return home exhausted, but happy. It's never easy leaving your pups for a couple days, but they run through the door and never look back. Two Rock always takes photos of your dogs during their visit and hands them over with a sweet report card as you check out. My dogs are actually SMILING from ear to ear in the pictures. It cracks me up. I'm thankful for this business, and I hope it continues at this exceptionally high level for years to come. read more

I hemmed and hawed about posting this review, since it seems to be the best kept secret out there! We have boarded our big guy numerous times here and he LOVES it... infact, LOVE almost seems like an understatement as to how much he enjoys going here. The facility is beautiful and clean - it is out in the county surrounded by farmland and gorgeous rolling hills. And all the dogs look extremely happy. For longer stays they do little report cards and include some polaroid pics of your happy camper partying away with the other campers. The staff are truly outstanding and your can tell they really love animals. We also got him groomed here recently and they did a great job. Our big pup always comes home looking happy but thoroughly wiped out for a couple days from having so much fun. We would absolutely love this place and wouldn't think twice about recommending it to any person who thinks of their dog as their baby. read more

My Boxer/ Ridgeback loves it here!! I've been meaning to write this review for awhile cause it is well deserved. Whenever I have a trip planned I drive all the way up to this gem from San Francisco, it's that good. Oh and the cost for an overnight and all day play cannot be beat. It takes A LOT to tire my 70 lb mutt bundle of energy (sometimes a six mile jog barely cuts it)...and these folks know how to do it! For two days after I pick him up he doesn't want to go outside let alone get off the couch, which is a great bonus for a dog owner who has to be "On" all the time! Two Rock sends your pup home with cute photos and a report card. He still has never gotten a timeout so I guess he is behaving & having a blast while I'm away. We have been bringing our "babies" (2 Australian Shepherds) here for more than 10 years, several times a year. Sue, the owner is wonderful as is her business. She truly cares about the welfare of the dogs. The place is meticulous inside with lots of very large fenced areas outside, for the dogs to use. We are so releived that this place treats them so well and that we don't have to worry about their welfare while we are away. I have recommended this place to many people and nobody has been disappointed so far. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has to board their dogs. read more

Vino absolutely loves going to "doggy ritz carlton!" Nothing makes me happier or feel more comfortable than seeing her get excited as soon as we make the final turn to get to the ranch followed by her running in the door. The staff absolutely adore dogs and every dog who is allowed to stay at the ranch is evaluated to make sure they are friendly. They have thought of absolutely everything from small play groups which has one person per group monitoring them, to heated cement floors when it is cold and big air conditioners when it is hot. Vino comes back happy and tired when we pick her up and I cannot imagine sending her anywhere else. read more

Our dog Artie has been staying at Two Rock Dog Ranch in Petaluma since he was a puppy always comes home with a report card and pictures of playing with his friends. I like this because it is nice to see how much fun and exercise and social interaction Artie is getting. Sue and staff care about all the animals and are contientious of more than just feeding time and sleeping time. They have qualified staff and offer a variety of outdoor play options. Artemis always comes home 'pooped'. He takes full advantage of his play time with Ranch friends! We occasionally use the shuttle option that runs from the Cotati Groomers (by the Olivers in Cotati) for taking him out or having him brought back into town. It is nice to have different options. I also think there is a door to door service available for a nominal fee. I highly recommend Two Rock Dog Ranch. read more

Very disappointed with our experience at Two Rock. We scheduled an overnight evaluation for our 2 year old pup @ Two Rock. They take you through the facility before your dog comes in. After the tour, you bring your dog in and they go into group with other "like" dogs for 15 minutes. They owner only allowed 15 minutes before they deem your dog "fit" or "unfit". At this point we've wasted time to just get told my dog is "too timid" and they don't think he'll do well. Bunch of bull$h*t. Other kennels we've gone to have allowed them to stay for a few hours, like doggie daycare & always accepted. If you're traveling from the city, don't waste your time. My dog didn't want to stay there anyway, he told me! read more

We jumped through all the hoops to get to an evaluation with this place, which cost us a fair amount of time and money. During the evaluation, they didn't show a basic understanding of dogs and how to properly introduce them into a pack of animals. Our dog, who has not had any trouble with other dogs was thrown in and when he nipped at a dog sniffing him, they immediately eliminated him and said they couldn't take him. Three days later we went to someone else who knew how to introduce dogs to each other and he was fine. I am frustrated that I had to waste time and money for this place (they require more tests than the average place that we didn't wind up needing). Do yourself a favor, if you have anything other than the most subservient dog on the planet, ask lots of questions on their approach to evaluation and go with places that show a better understanding of how dogs get to know each other. Otherwise you may also waste a lot of time and money. read more

My puppy has stayed here for daycare and boarding over the past few months and every time it has been such a wonderful experience. They keep me updated with any health concerns my puppy has had, follow all Covid regulations, and are always so pleasant to deal with. Well, I was all excited to find what might be a great place to take my dog for daycare, having just moved to Western Sonoma. My dog has been in daycare since she was 14 weeks old and is a very dog friendly girl that I have taken through multiple off-leash classes and has beautiful dog-dog skills. I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and I took her socialization seriously so I would have a dog and people friendly girl. However, because she is an Alaskan Malamute, she is NOT permitted to attend this facility. What a shame. She will earn her Canine Good Citizen this year and is a stellar example of how proper socialization early on begets a great dog. I live in a small studio in downtown SF and have a 140lb irish wolfhound. He can be quite the handful, but everybody at Two Rock has been amazing with him since day one. I'm happy to drive an hour each way (sometimes two) on both ends of my trip to leave my dog here when I go out of town, because I know they treat him well and he's happy. They have a beautiful, modern barn facility for all of the dogs, with giant garage doors that open to runs for the dogs, which they group by size. This is the only place I found in my searches that lets the dogs play all day long - there's no mandatory "lockup" in the middle of the day. No crating your dog and paying extra for a short walk. I travel a lot for both work and pleasure, and I wouldn't be able to do either and still be confident in my dog's well being without the support of the folks at Two Rock. It really is peace of mind, at a very reasonable rate as far as dog boarding goes. My one gripe - I don't have Facebook so I can't look at the pictures they post of the dogs playing! I suspect that won't be a problem for most. read more

We have been taking our dog to Two Rock Dog Ranch (formerly Cotati Dog Boarding) for about 2 years now and could not be happier. Our little Chihuahua seems to really enjoy his stays there. I like that they pre-screen dogs (of course our passed) and keep the small dogs seperate from the big ones. Each time our dog comes back from his stays he seems tired, but happy. The staff is friendly, helpful and my wife and I like the report cards with photos they give us when we pick him up. Two Rock is the best! It is a bit far to get to, but SO worth it. I loved that our energetic and social dog was not confined to a crate and was free to roam inside and out. They organize the dogs into size and temperament and they pretty much hang as a pack all day. At night they sleep in a crate or in private suites. The grounds and kennel are clean and the staff is very personable.A special touch is the doggie report card that they send home with him with photos and a description of the activities he enjoyed and friends that he played with. read more

This is the place, don't bother with anywhere else if you have Two Rock as an option. We have taken our dog here multiple times and he has a blast. He comes home and sleeps for days because he's so exhausted from playing! I LOVE the staff and the owner Sue. They are incredibly professional and try their best to accommodate your needs. They have a huge ranch and the dogs are grouped by play style and size, and they play 7am until 9pm outside! There is places for the dogs to rest and sit in the shade, or jump over logs etc.. There is a handler with them all the time and they accommodate medications, grooming and anything else. They also take pictures so you can see how much fun your dog had during their stay. I believe there should be a Two Rock in every city so dog owners can rest assured their dog is having the time of their lives. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for years. Our previous dog (now deceased) went to this location when we went on vacation over a span of 10 years. Every time he came home healthy, happy and tired!! When we'd leave the place, he would look out the back window looking as though he was sad to leave (I swear!). I loved getting the pictures of his happy face when we picked him up and the report card about how he ate, who he played with and how he slept. Now we have a new pup and he just spent two entire weeks with them (our longest trip yet). I felt bad leaving our new boy so long, but did know he would be in good hands. When I picked him up, the staff all knew him, told stories about him and I know he got the human attention he needed along with the fun doggy play time. Maggie and Boo love this place and we do too. They have visited a few times and each time they come home flat wore out! That's how a dog should live their life, playing and running around. We have never had an issue with the front desk or any phone calls. My only hit on the place are their hours for drop off/pick up which are the same times they answer their phone. A little earlier in the day would be nice and even a little earlier in the afternoon for pick up. However, thats the only thing that "bugs" us, but we adjust and move on. I work very close to their so it works out, but sometimes the dogs have to visit my work with me before I can drop them off or I end up going in late. Overall, the dogs are happy and very clean (we do get them clipped and shampooed before pick up) and that is most important to us. We will continue using them. read more

My K9 children LOVE this place and SO DO I!! I actually feel guilty on the days I don't take them there--life is much more boring at home. George and Bob (standard poodles) drag me in through the door and race off without a backward glance. They come home in the evening tired out, ready for dinner and a long snooze. I know that when we have to go away without our dogs, they're happy and well cared for at Two Rock, with no time to think about missing us! The owners and carers are all terrific: very knowledgeable and concerned with the dogs' welfare and safety, and the dogs have human supervised playtime all day, with climbing structures, paddling pool, different areas for high and low energy dogs, and shade and rest areas. All is very clean, spacious, and well laid out, both indoors and out. Another very welcome service is Two Rock's on-site grooming parlor: expert and gentle grooming, with the bonus of playtime when they're done! Let's just say I'm a pretty serious animal lover. This week I came home with a wheaten terrier to add to our animal menagerie! My husband, god love him, has not divorced me. However, I have been banned from visiting any type of animal shelter for awhile! Our animals are family members to us (oh look, my husband doesn't think I'm looking as he snuggles with the new pooch by a blazing fire). So when we want to go on a vacation, it has always brought about a fair amount of anxiety. About two years ago, we had a horrific experience with a house sitter. She left our yellow lab Parker outside all night. He became very anxious and started to bark and irritate the neighbors. The house sitter did not spend the night here, she just "dropped by" to feed the animals which was not what we had agreed on. Parker was covered in nasty, bloody hot spots caused by being nervous. That's when we discovered Two Rock Ranch! Parker is so excited to stay at his "spa!" He whines in anticipation as we turn down that gravel driveway and so happily spent when we pick him up. The best part about Two Rock Ranch, is that I know my animals are in great hands. I can relax on my vacations-no worries! Next week, I will be bringing my new addition, Maddie, to the Ranch for her first visit. I just know she's gonna love it! read more

This is the best place to bring your dogs for daycare and boarding! I used to live in the North Bay and we were regular customers for daycare and boarding. We came at least once a week, after which my dogs were exhausted and happy. Then I moved to the South Bay where my experience with daycares were not as great (much more expensive and no outdoors). I just had the chance to vacation up north for a few days, and brought my dogs to the ranch for boarding, to give them a vacation from me. I was so happy to be able to give them two days of play time somewhere perfect in environment and safety. When I picked them up, we got report cards of how they did along with photos of them playing with their doggy friends. Sue and the staff there are always so kind and friendly and they let you know they appreciate you and they truly understand and love dogs. We have been taking our 2 dogs Jack and Daisy to Two Rock for 2 years and prior to that our other dog Tashi. A freind suggested this to us as she has been taking her 2 dogs for years. First thing I noticed was that it was so clean! We had made an appt to check out the facility and was more than pleased with the whole set-up. And NO smell of anything. Even where the dogs play I didn't see or smell any doggie droppings,. The staff was more than helpful explaining the hows and whys of how they run there business. I like that they separate the dogs based on size .There is plenty of fresh water,shade,grass and a nice (large)area for the dogs to run around with the furry friends. My dogs CRY to get out of the car so they can get in. I really think they know there gonna have alot of fun! The owners get it when it comes to dogs. There very ,very nice people. At one point when Sue noticed Jack was scratching a bit she put a little frontline on him. Now, I didn't mind at all because we use frontline and we had been into the end of the month when Jack was there. So he as ready for a dose anyway. But the fact that they noticed was a good sighn to me. They just didnt put them in the yard and walk away. They were paying attention to my dog! Also, when we pick them up from either from a doggie day play or a weeks stay, they are wiped out! They are getting quality excerise in a quality facility with quality personnel. On another note, I have both dogs groomed there as well. They will groom them the day your going to pick them up so there nice and clean for when you bring them home. We have Tibetan's and they did a great job getting out knots,etc,etc. I really can't say nice enough things about Two Rock. Definitely five stars!! (p.s. We have been taking our dog Pebbles, a Catahoula mix, to the Ranch since she was a puppy! At least 4-1/2 years now! She loves her time there and is well-exercised and well-loved. We send her to day care 2-3 days a week (can you tell our kids are grown?) and she is happy as a clam. Anytime we are out of town this is where we board her. They run a shuttle from the Cotati Dog Grooming shop that will take her out to the Ranch in the morning and bring her back in the afternoon. Or, you may drop your dog off for day care at the Ranch as early as 7:30 am. In response to some of the other comments I must say that the staff is very courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. All of them. I have seen little turnover and that is truly saying something in this business. In addition, evaluations are scheduled at a time of day to least disrupt the dogs. I highly highly recommend Two Rock Dog Ranch. Two "thumbs up"! read more

We have been loyal clients of Two Rock Dog Ranch for close to 12.5 years- our Bently, a sweet 13 year old Cocker Spaniel, still gets excited as we drive the dirt access road past the sheep pens. He knows he's going to get some good play time! Sue and her team are expert and we feel very comfortable leaving an older dog for a week or so at a time. He gets a large crate suite and hangs out with the senior dogs. It's a good and safe home away from home. read more

I think they've set up a nice environment for the dogs here, but the management is completely inept. We were never charged for our dog's stay (they dropped him off at our place in San Francisco) and then the manager called me 8 months later to say that she was going to give our bill to collections. I reminded her that she never billed us, and she responded with "yes, I realize that and these things often slip through the cracks." The reason that our dog was taken to our home is that the ranch is open at the most inconvenient times. I do not recommend this as a solution for San Francisco-based dogs. For example, on Labor Day weekend, they were closed for pick-up on Sunday and Monday - so have fun taking the day off work to pick up your dog! Or you can pay about $200 to have him dropped off in SF. We're never taking our dog here again. read more

Disappointed with our experience.While this kennel is located in a lovely rural area, when my dogs and I visited (a Friday before holiday weekend) there seemed to be way too many dogs crowded together in the various "free-range" pens/runs. My two terriers and I were overwhelmed and uncomfortable (although they do well at other kennels and dog parks). My advice: if your dog is very easy-going, social and docile when thrust into large packs of new dogs, this may be a good option. However, if your dog has any anxiety or alpha instincts, I would not waste your time with this kennel - your dog won't be the right "fit" and you will have wasted a lot of time. If I could rate them at 10 stars, I would. I am not sure who loves them more, us or our dogs! We have been taking our two dogs, Digby & Annie to Two Rock Dog Ranch for several years now, and we are so happy with them! My husband and I travel quite a bit, so our dogs spend a good amount of time being boarded. Ever since we found Two Rock, we no longer have to stress about what to do when we need to go on a trip without the dogs. We first started boarding there when we only had Digby, our little Pomeranian mix. After his first couple of stays there, he learned to tell when we were taking him there, and spends the whole ride there jumping around the car because he's so excited. When we get there, he bolts into the door, noses his way behind the front desk, and never even stops to say goodbye! Our other dog Annie, was a rescue who used to have a lot of personality problems. She wasn't very comfortable around most people or other dogs and would often try to isolate herself. We started taking her there along with Digby and the change in her personality over the last couple of years has been remarkable. We are now able to take her to our local off-leash dog park, and she will oftentimes initiate contact with other dogs, which she used to never do. I attribute all of these changes to the socialization and constant attention she gets at Two Rock. Also, Two Rock actually helped us figure out what breed Annie is.. so cool! If you're wondering about the environment there, it's pretty great. We have taken the tour of the area in the back, and were quite pleased (especially after seeing the conditions at other boarding shops in town that I won't name). First of all, the dogs are separated by size and personalities. During the day, they are off leash and are able to socialize as much as they want with the other dogs in their group (supervised by people of course). There's a large outdoor area with grass, and sandboxes, and water to play in. There are areas inside with cots and beds and cozy warm space heaters. The dogs sleep in crates at night (which is great for our dogs who are both crate trained), but I believe there are suites you can ask for if your dog has a particular problem with sleeping in a crate. When we first started going there, we were even able to take Digby's favorite blanket so he felt more like he was at home. They are amazing about the food.. you provide your dog's food, and they are great about making sure they get exactly what you want them to.. even if it's something refrigerated. There are so many things I love! They have a shuttle that goes from the ranch to the grooming shop in Cotati to make it easier to board your dogs.. such a life saver. The staff are SO nice, and have all been working there a long time. The owners, Sue & Richard, and Amber at the front desk are particularly amazing. They are also good about reminding us when it's time for vaccinations, which makes me feel better, because I know that all the dogs at the ranch are no doubt current on their vaccinations too. Oh, and did I mention that you get a report card with pictures when you pick them up? That's the best! The dogs come home so happy and zonked. They are happy to just laze around for a day or so when they come home, and they seem so satisfied and happy. This is truly Digby & Annie's home away from home. If I were pressed to think of one critique for this place, it would simply be that I wish they accepted credit cards, because I am sometimes forgetful about toting around my checkbook. Bottom line: take your dog here, and you'll never look back or consider a different kennel. read more

They take such good care of my dog :) always friendly and nice. I was worried about her being cold and they put a cute little jacket on her that i saw when i picked her up. I know my dog does ok in socialized situations, and that a lot of how she behaves when Im not around is still my doing! I toured the facility with out her a year or two ago, its clean and spacious. My husband and I were really anxious about finding the right boarding facility, since we were going to be away for 3 weeks for our wedding/honeymoon. We came across Two Rock online and tried it out for a day before deciding to board our puppies there. The facility was really clean, spacious (with LOTS of space for outdoor play) and the employees all seemed to really enjoy working there/being with the dogs - they knew them all by name, and were caring for them as though they were their own. They were also extremely helpful with special requests (ex. giving medications etc). Our dogs seemed to really love it there - they came home very happy and healthy after their stay.
