I had a 10:45 appointment and was started right away. The assistant who started my hair was very friendly, quick and did her job prepping my hair extremely well. I was comfortable and enjoyed the music they played. Petra, the stylist, went above and beyond with my hair. Not only did she hold conversation with me during the process but even remembered my name. That personal touch definitely added to the experience. I say all that to say, I am very pleased and overjoyed with my new look. The salon, New BBS, almost demolished my hair and even, finding out today, left me with a bald spot. But Petra saw no difficulty in taming the beast and executing such an amazing, grown and sexy style for me. 10/10!

At the max of $120 plus $35 for washing snd blow drying this style should have cost $155. I paid $185 for this style! You look at this style and tell me how much do you think it's worth? I called ahead and we negotiated a VERYYYY reasonable price of $55 and asked me my hair color so she could have the hair ready. Note: as other reviewers mentioned there are at least 3 other braiding salons in this building/hallway, it is not uncommon for the competition to lie about their name in order to pilfer customers which is why Matou had me call her so she could personally escort her to the shop. Just make sure the shop says UNITY and you'll be good. Wanted long cornrows with extensions on my thick mixed race natural hair... came in with my hair washed and detangled and she began her magic. 1.5 hours later she left me with NEAT, PRECISE, DETAILED cornrows that weren't too thick or loose. She works quickly but not sloppily nor does she rush you out of the chair. She's also quite friendly. Admittedly this place is not glam or ritzy, but it is large, well ventilated, they have a TV and there were no bugs! The lady washed my hair, but I felt like as if it wasn't completely washed from the roots to the ends, and she didn't massage or go through my roots or put on nearly enough product on my hair. Once she finished washing it, she went on to put rollers on my hair. She used rollers that were too small for my hair length and thickness, so I had large parts of my hair loosely rolled up onto the rollers. I finally got into the dryer, in which I was in there for too long. After being in there for nearly 90 minutes, I took the dryer hood off of me and told her. She brushed it off, and continued to work on her client. When she took out the rollers, I wanted to scream. My hair was so thick, dry, and hard! It was rolled up, not curled and just horrific. I looked at her in disbelief. My mother used to go there all the time, so that's why she referred me to go there. I suggest that you don't go there! It's not cheap compared to other salons in Queens generally, and the service is poor. When I got home, I had difficulty combing through my own hair!
