I've shopped here a few times, mostly when I'm looking for furniture items. I've never walked in and felt especially welcome, most often I am completely ignored. Overall, I see it as a place with cool furniture and nick-knacks that might be more affordable than pottery barn (or at times, not!) The items are on the higher end, so are the prices. I've been in twice now and no one ever acknowledged I was present or ask if I need any assistance. I suppose if you can get help, you might have the opportunity to purchase an antique for your residence. read more

Let me give you an idea of the people you will be dealing with at this establishment. After fighting traffic from the Mission Hills/downtown area, we arrived 15 minutes before closing (which is 5:00 p.m.) to find the saleslady/owner locking the door. We asked politely, "Are you closing early?" With a look suggesting she could care less, she asked, and I quote, "Why? Did you want to buy something?" We explained we just drove up from San Diego and hit traffic. She didn't even respond. She turned the key in the lock, gave us a look, and walked to her car. No apology; no explanation that she needed to leave early. Bottom line, she could care less about you, or from what we could tell, the needs of her customers. Great selection, but over priced and unwilling to negotiate. Make sure whatever you're purchasing will work, because the owner is totally inflexible regarding exchanges and returns. I'm an interior designer and my client spent $3,500.00 and was given no discount. We asked to return an item that we purchased for $185.00 and were told we could reconsign it. Nothing I said would persuade Joan to alter her policy. I have loved Two Sisters Consignment since I discovered them about 6 years ago. They have amazingly beautiful furnishings. I wish I had more space to decorate because I'd get more great stuff. I go in periodically to see what is new and have added rugs and a coffee table and a gorgeous lamp to my living room from the shop. So fun!! read more

I've purchased a couple of items there: a copper kitchen piece and a terrific watercolor. A few people have griped about inflexibility and/or intolerance in the sales environment. Get over yourselves!!! First, the price reflects a sales price often set in concert with a third party (the owner). Second, you should be armed with the price you are willing to pay and/or the market price of that item. I'm especially amused by interior designers used to kick-backs and courtesey discounts so that they can further gouge their clients.... Just arm yourself with information, set a price ceiling and be prepared to walk away. What more do you want? read more

They have really expensive crap here...but even better is their customer service. You get the privilege of being treated like dirt, yelled at, snubbed or ignored. This is the perfect place for shoppers with low self respect as they will love the abuse, Those of us with a little more esteem walk out of there and head off over to other places. read more

Joan at Two Sisters Consignment has a great selection of furniture and paintings. I asked her to find some craftsman style furniture. She called back in a couple of weeks with two solid cherry Stickley chairs covered in green leather for $375 each. The price was very reasonable, and from the pictures she sent, I could tell the chairs were in great condition. I was really busy at the time and put the chairs on the back burner. When I finished my deadline, I called to see if Joan still had the chairs. Joan was really sweet; but unfortunately, those Stickley chairs were sold. I will always remember those chairs and what a great deal they were. Sometimes life is like that. It is like fishing. You always remember the ones' that get away. And if you like dogs, she has the most engaging Maltese, named Moxie. He will greet you at the counter: guaranteed to charm your heart and lift your spirits. read more

I've consigned a few furnishings at the shop, and the small staff has always been friendly, helpful, and prompt with payment for me from the items they've sold for me. I have been shopping and finding fabulous finds at Two Sisters for over a decade. They have a mix of fine antiques (as early as 18thc), vintage pieces, designer finds, and art - some of it very, very good. I have paid a fraction of the price I would have had an antique store or Christies. read more
