When did this place turn into an overpriced dump? I've been going here for years and it now feels like overpriced Ross. Clothes were scattered and falling off hangers when the store opened - I can expect this at the end of the day, but upon opening? Multiple pieces were stained, dirty, and a three pieces had rips/holes. The shoes were piled up in heaps, and are no longer organized by size so you have to look through every pair for your size. I don't mind overpaying when the experience is quality, but these clothes are WAY overpriced and it feels like Ross meets Salvation Army. You can do better. read more

What's available is hit-or-miss like most consignment stores. I think items are overpriced until the prices drop to move the merchandise. I did find a great dresser that was just what I needed. If I'd purchased it the day before I did buy it, I would have paid much more. I just lucked out with my timing. I sold high-quality, double and triple-matted, archival-framed artwork there, some of which were prints while others were original paintings. All of them sold for next to nothing. read more

As of Dec 2025, there is only one building and it focuses on clothes/shoes. Seems they've closed the houseware/art store and moved the clothing business into this building. While I like this place it is not a bargain- many items are priced high for second hand. Your best deals are for the high-end designer clothes and shoes. There are designer purses here too. The mid-range clothes are priced a little high in my opinion (most items were in the $39, $49, $59 range). However , this store is thoughtfully curated and organized and I appreciated this. Clothes are of good quality and nothing smells old. You will find unique pieces here. Staff was friendly. There is a bit of a snobby atmosphere here- less from the staff, more from the customers. If you are tired of buying plastic clothes (where acrylic is the first listed fiber) and want to find quality clothes with more natural fibers or at least a decent blend- come here. Nicely organized and merchandised store, unique items with good quality. If you want to sell- the house wins here for sure. 45% cash or 55% credit to use in the store (smart to build an ecosystem!). But if you don't want the hassle of trying to sell online it might be the way to go. I like this place, you will find truly unique mid-range pieces at an "ok" price and deals for high end designer items. It's fun to explore here. I'll be back. read more

I consigned some items here. The staff is so unfriendly and unwilling to help. They split up my St John suit (which they didn't tell me they would do) and sold the jacket for $25!!!! (It was a $2500 outfit) the skirt did not sell. (Surprise surprise since they split up the suit) I went to pick up the unsold item and they told me to find it myself on the floor. Then I had to pay them $5 to take home my own skirt! I will never consign here again or shop here for that matter. read more

I had high hopes when shopping at my sister attic in Encinitas. My experience was disappointing. While the store may have interesting finds, beware of overpriced items and a management team that lacks basic customer service skills and where smiling to a customer seems out of the question. I won't be returning. The cashier's supervisor (manager?) was extremely rude, dismissive, and unwilling to negotiate even a small courtesy discount--not even $5 off of a $295 (overpriced dress anyway) and mass produced in China. She showed no concern for the fact that the dress was lightly damaged, required additional costs for cleaning as the bottom was very dirty and alterations cause it was outstretched under arms. I know it's second hand but a commercial gesture would have been appreciated. I guess they don't need to generate sales. Anyway I thank her cause after a night of sleep that nice dress made in China was very overpriced and after all the fix it needed, I would have regretted it as it remains.... Second hands. Ok, so this is not your typical second hand furniture shop. They have a good selection of furniture and home decor. The shop is smack dab in the middle of Encinitas, which explains the high end furniture. We didn't end up buying anything today but we will be checking in from time to time to see what new furniture arrives. The staff is very helpful but not hovering. I brought some items in to consign today, and they didn't take anything. One purse I had is nice, so I asked why they didn't take it. They told me it was because there is a mark on the bottom. Fair enough. I found a nice top to buy though while I was waiting. It also had a white mark on it, so I asked if they did a damage discount since they just told me my purse was too dirty to accept. Kat was extremely rude and condescending to me, telling me they didn't do a discount and wouldn't clean any merchandise for me, but "I could have a baby wipe" to clean it. If store associates notice damage after someone tries on an item, they should clean it. It is gross. After that, I was uninterested in buying anything or supporting this store. I will not be returning, and Kat needs to have some customer etiquette training. read more

I stumbled upon this store when I was looking for another thrift spot in the shopping center. I AM SO GRATEFUL I DID! I was looking for a desk for a home office and I was in a time crunch because i needed furniture ASAP to start work and did not want to buy brand new furniture most likely from ikea to put together myself (added stress for the time crunch). I was so pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of furniture in the store for an affordable rate. I was greeted by smiling faces and was assisted throughout my stay at the store by multiple members on the team. I walked out with a great desk, office chair and funky reading chair. I opted for the delivery option for an affordable rate and the employees who brought my new furniture to my apartment were super kind and quick at moving my new furniture in. I purchased a Mission-style dresser at My Sister's Attic a few weeks ago. I'd been looking for one for months and on a whim I stopped in the store. I met Patrick, the friendly store manager, and told him the style and vibe I was trying to find and he understood exactly and showed me the perfect piece! I was able to buy the dresser and have the store deliver it to my house the next day. I ended up saving about $500 by buying it through their consignment store rather than new and I love it! It's in perfect condition, as all the furniture in their store seems to be. We recently moved to the area and came upon this shop when we were in the area to pick-up pastries. I think they have good prices and some good items but the atmosphere was like, well, less than welcoming. I felt as if I was being watched, but not helped. I did not have any bags, loose clothing, etc. I had a Gucci fanny pack on with my leggings and a blouse. It was a little creepy. I put a crossbody bag on consignment. Been 20 days so I decided to take my bag back. When I went into the store the three woman were so rude when I asked about the bag. They told me it hasn't sold yet and if I wanted it back to find it on the floor. I searched and searched and it was no place. When I approached them again to say the bag is no place on their floor they said it could be in someone's cart. First, they don't have alarms on any expensive items anyone could have put this crossbody bag into their bag or under their clothes and walk right out of the store. My bag is gone. Almost all the reviews here are from the buyer's perspective, this is a seller's story. The absolute worst customer service experience we have ever had. We attempted to sell two gently used Restoration Hardware night-stands which retailed for $1,595.00 each (they still had the original price tags on them). My Sister's Attic ("MSA") ended up selling BOTH of them, with ZERO notice to us for roughly $300. I say roughly because as I write this I still have no idea what price MSA sold them for. MSA sold them about 6 months ago, but we still have no receipt, invoice, and importantly, no check. The last time we called the store to check on our items, was roughly a month ago, they informed us our night-stands had sold "months ago," and when they told me for how much, I almost dropped my phone. When I asked why no one had called, emailed or text us to update us on several price reductions and subsequent sale, I was told, "per the terms of your agreement, we have no obligation whatsoever to call you, update you, or inform you when we drop prices, or when your item is sold." To be fair, yes the terms of their agreement do say something to that affect, but they also so say "we pay consignment commissions daily," which is clearly, at this point comically false. I would argue, just because you technically CAN (or this case not) do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD. The terms of agreement as written are absurd, and put a ridiculous burden sellers/consignors. We basically have to call MSA on daily basis to check on our items, because if they chose to drop prices, or sell the items, they have NO obligation to notify us? Awesome! Even after MSA told us we would be getting $300 for our $3,000+ night-stands, we didn't make a fuss, we didn't show up at the store, we didn't threaten legal action, we said please just mail us the check. This was over a month ago, still no check. So if you are going to sell with MSA, read the terms of your agreement VERY CAREFULLY. Follow the terms to a T. Honestly, at less than 10% of MSRP, we would have rather given them away to someone who needed them. I would have enjoyed the Karma points more than I'll enjoy the $300, if I ever see it. read more

I had dropped off an Ann Taylor suit here that I had worn just once for an interview, and specified that I'd like it back if it didn't sell. I was told to check back in thirty days. Thirty days later I stopped by, and was told that the staff was backed up with their pricing activities, and to check back in a few weeks. So, I called back a few weeks later, and was told that the suit got donated!! There was no communication, no call, no following of my instructions to return the suit to me. I asked for store credit, but was told the only thing they could provide was a donation receipt. I told them I will never consign with their store again! read more

If you need to jettison furniture due to a move or decor change, don't bother with Craigslist, Let Go, or Nextdoor. I called My Sister's Attic, two nice, strong guys came by right on time, had me review and sign the consignment paperwork, and moved the furniture to the Encinitas store. Everything sold quickly. I opted for cash rather than store credit and I received right about what Craigslist et al. would've brought...without wasting time dealing with random people. Brianna is awesome! Patrick couldn't have made my shopping experience any smoother. I was looking for the perfect mirror but lived 30 minutes from the store and didn't want to waste my time if they didn't have what I was looking for. Patrick offered to send me pictures of what they had that met my description, and sent dimensions for the ones I was interested in. I had a mirror picked out in less than 30 minutes, and it was hanging on my wall by the next day. I was surprised at the quality and variety of the items for sale, and Patrick's knowledge of each individual piece in the store. This place is amazing!! I found the perfect rocking chair and everyone that worked there was so incredibly nice. I came in the next day to purchase this chair and they remembered me and were super friendly! I had a mover pick up my chair and when they delivered it, it was missing some nails. I was totally devastated. I looked for them everywhere and so did the movers. When I called my sister's attic, Patrick was amazing!!! I can't stress this enough. He looked everywhere for the nails, twice. And when we still couldn't find it, he called me back to say he found replacements online. I was astonished!
