Since south end cell phone reception is sketchy at best and the area is heavily wooded. But to my surprise Tyee Farms is a small, friendly oasis with delicious sandwiches. Actually more like paninis. I had the Rubin which a lot of places never get right. It was perfect. Perfectly grilled, crisp on the outside but warm, soft and melted on the inside. It was piled high with meat, no skimping there. The sauce did not overpower the flavors, but only complimented the flavors. I can't stop thinking about that sandwich. I want to go back. Also check out the selection of craft bottles sodas. Tough choice, that or a pulled pork sammy. Nice surprise, though the savvy shopkeeper knew stokin' the smoker and scenting the store with sauce in microwave would surely suck a perhaps not-so-innocent bystander in like a frog tonguing a fly-by. If that wasn't enough, he's a Texas talker who really knows how to connect equally well with locals and the touristas. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood, headed back up the island up the East side if the island. You'll find it sharing a gravel parking lot with the large corrugated metal studio/workshop for Jack Gunter Art & Design.
