This dealership breaks the Shopping Reform and Modernization Act as well as the Michigan Consumer Protection Act. Calling the dealership tomorrow for the difference. If they do not agree, a general civil lawsuit will be filed as this constitutes fraud (and the dealership will get a 6-12 month civil case in which they'll need to hire an attorney for and ultimately lose...huge loss for them). read more

Bought a car here. Good car; but wasn't given the ford key thing for my tires. So if I need to change a flat, I have to get my car towed and they have to take off the ford nuts and put regular nuts of the tires. The car I bought was good but needed $2k worth of work done for it to be all good to go. The car had a engine leak as well that thank god I found out early. The inside of the car was dirty and I thought they'd clean it out but so much for assuming that. Other than the dirt inside and much work needed to make it run, the car is alright. Tyme auto is a wonderful dealership. I truly had wonderful service here. I purchased a minivan for my family shortly after I was widowed. Being that I was newly on my own with five children and not much to fall back on, I was quite concerned about finding the right car for my family. I was walked through the process by the salesperson and even the owner helped. From the moment the phone was picked up, I knew that this was not like the many other dealerships that I contacted. It was not like they were trying to push me into the one car that they needed to sell and were okay with me taking my time. The owner even took the time to explain to me some of the repairs that I should save up for that happen with all cars in the long run. Truly the entire experience was one that I learned a lot from and did not expect from a used car dealership. You can tell that they are family owned and operated because they treat their customers like members off their family. I could not be happier with my decision to purchase through Tyme Auto and will purchase through them again when the time comes. I will say this, I have noticed that there are negative reviews for the dealership on here. Everyone from the salesperson to the finance representative was very clear with me that this was a used car. They showed me the Car Fax for several of the vehicles that I was interested in. However, they let me know that there were things that could happen beyond what anyone could expect. I did have issues with my brakes about six months later (normal wear and tear) and they were able to give me an excellent recommendation as to who I could go through for a repair. And the repair person gave me a fair price and discount due to being referred there via Tyme Auto. I felt looked after. Above all, this is a used car. There were some cars that although I would have loved to have them, the owner told me that the repair prices would be much higher on those models (he knew that was a priority of mine). So, I would recommend being honest with them if you do not have much money in savings for repairs so that they can help guide you. Also, realize that part of buying a used car is knowing that you will have repairs to make. That is part of the savings and one of the expenses. read more

Probably my worst car buying experience I've ever had. When I got to the dealership, they wanted almost $5,000 over blue book. They said it was because the car had so few miles for the year. Thought it was sketchy, but I wanted that model so bad, I was willing to negotiate with them. After getting my car, I was so ecstatic. Only had to pay about $5,000 after my trade in! It ran well for the first few weeks. After about a month, I realized the back tire kept losing air. About a week after that, it blew out on the express way. So I went to get the spare. There wasn't one. No jack, no donut. Nothing! When I finally got the car towed to a shop, they showed me the rim had been broken and welded back together! The rim on the other side, wasn't in much better shape. This car was a giant mistake. Not only did they swear up and down it was a sport, but they gauged me in price. I paid almost $20,000 for the car and when I took it to sell it after getting everything fixed, it only sold for $10,000! Never again will I go near that lot or recommend it to anyone. EVER. it seemed like the perfect place. i found a car there that ran great. but here are some shady behaviors that went on during the process that should have waved some flags, 1. the price for the car i bought on the lot said 4900 they told me they would take 4500 for it. when i went online later that night i saw that it was listed for 3900. they let me pay the 3900 but still that is weird. 2. when we asked for the carfax the salesman acted like it was such a hassle. then we asked to keep the car faxed and the salesman made a big deal about it cause he had to pay to get the car fax on it. ok so i didnt think to much about this stuff because i had been with out a car for a while and was really excited to be getting a 4900 car for 3900 ....... well they gave a 30 day warranty then 60days after owning it, the engine died. STRAIGHT UP died. it blew a piston. we called and told them about it all they did was help find me a cheep new engine. but i had to pay for it. i say BS they should have paid for it because obviously this car was a POS. honestly just thinking about how i was cheated by this place makes me so upset. i feel violated. im out money and they have it. its like they stole from me. soooo in short, do not get a car from this place. I purchased a car from TYME a little over a year ago. I lived down the street from the lot so it was definitely a convenient location. Prior to purchasing the car, I told the sales woman that I would not buy the car unless 3 things were fixed. She agreed that they would be repaired by the time I would pick up the car (4 days later). When I went to get the car (saturday), none of the repairs were made. I had to schedule an appointment for the following monday for everything to be taken care of. When I brought the car back for repairs, they had my car for 4 hours. When I got it back, there was still an issue with the car that still to this day has not been fixed. It doesn't effect the way the car runs, so I just deal with it. About 45 days after I purchased the vehicle (700 miles later), problems started. The whole suspension of the vehicle was shot. The front end needed control arms, ball joints and an alignment. When I took the vehicle to the lot to explain what was wrong with it, I asked for a recommendation for a shop that would do work with the extended warranty that I purchased through TYME. I then took my car to the recommended shop. When the shop inspected my car, they wrote up an estimate and presented it to the warranty company...the claim was denied. I then went back to TYME and explained the situation. I handed over the estimate from the repair shop as well as my warranty information where it stated what was covered under the warranty (they matched up). The owner immediately got on the phone with the warranty area rep and read him the riot act. Apparently, I was the third customer to complain that this warranty company was not honoring their end of the deal. He took the keys to my car, gave me a ride home and told me that one way or the other, my car would be fixed, as it should be covered under the warranty. A few hours later, my car was back and the repairs were done. I was only responsible for the $100 deductible that my warranty required. To this day I do not know if TYME flipped the bill for the repair or if they eventually got the money from the warranty company. A few months after this, I had to get my rear struts replaced. Now, I am in need of struts on the front of the car as well as a new thermostat. I do feel that TYME does the right thing when it comes to the type of situation that I had. They really do want happy customers. However, I feel that they need to do more inspections on the vehicles that they sell on their lot instead of slapping a price on it as soon as it is delivered onto their lot. They may have to charge more for the vehicles, but in the long run that would produce more happy customers. Who wants to deal with vehicle problems anyway? read more

A few hours later we received several phone calls that they can't find the key to the car we test drove, so we must have stole the key. We've checked all of our belongings, we do not have the key, but they are insistent that we stole it. Do not do business with these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will price gouge you. They literally buy cars that they know work for a bit. They should rename their business to "lemon lot" because that's all they have. Let me tell you my story. I purchased this car; the salesman had THEIR mechanic look at the vehicle and cleared it (as required by Michigan law) - reporting it was not a "lemon". Two days into me owning this wonderful car, the check engine light comes on, I take it to an auto zone to get it read, they tell me it's the timing solenoid. I knew that could be just from dirty oil, upon taking it to oil change place these guys ask me if I've had the car looked at by a mechanic, I said "No, why?" They replied, "Because your passenger side is completely rusted out. I am surprise this car is driving." (Mind you I just got on the highway with this thing.) So I call the dealership and talk to the salesman who got on the defensive real quick and tried to cover his own butt. He then told a customer to lawyer up. All I wanted was a refund or for them to fix the problem. After that, the owner called an said bring the car to me and we will fix it. I told him the problems were all fixable, he then said "OK, we will fix them." A couple days pass and I haven't heard from this guy, so I give a call and he says he's busy and to call him back in an hour. I did that, and no answer. I call back the next day and he tells me to come get the car because it's fixed. When I get there, it's the exact opposite: the car wasn't even touched. He then tries to sell me a different car. At this point, I don't want the car that he was trying to give me because it was priced lower and had higher miles around 140,000 and he wasn't going to compensate the other money because he thought that we would be squared away. Now I look at him and tell him to fix the car, he said "OK, we will." Three or four days go by, no calls or any type of communication, so I go back, and lone and behold, the car is in the same place! This time, I tell him I want a refund. Then the owner of the business said we don't do refunds. I said you will today. He said he was going to fix the car again. I said I want to see it and I want receipts when finished. I call two days later and I get a hold of him directly. He then tells me that he is in a meeting and will call me back. Of course I didn't get a call back from him. Another day passes and he calls me with this sad, sappy story how people are yelling at him to give my money back so he is going to do just that. He said to come in Friday to get everything sorted out. The the next day he calls me and tells that they are fixing the car. I told him that's great I am still coming to get my money back the next day. He then says "I already told you that we don't do refunds." I preceded to laugh at the guy and reminded him of the phone call we had yesterday. He then told me I was lying and that we didn't have that conversation. He also thinks that I would believe him over lawyers that I had talked to about the used car laws, but he thought that he was smarter than lawyers. this whole process was over a two-week course where I had to contact multiple lawyers and have him ditch my calls. The Friday came so I went there for my money and got into an argument with my mother who was the one wanted the credit with getting my money back. If you want to know, there is a district court right down the street from them that processes small claims, which I told him I was going to do if he didn't give me my money. Oh, one more thing, when I did get there Friday I saw my car in the same place that it had been since I dropped it off with stickers in the windows! These guys were selling the car that I owned without my knowledge! A couple more weeks later, I got my money and went back and looked on their website, and they're selling this car once more but for $1,300 more then I bought it! It's also listed with "no problems." The mileage wrong (it was mileage LOWER than what I bought it for) . The car fax on the car were wrong. it said "one owner" which we all know is the case since I owned the car. These people are so sleazy that when I got my check, I deposited it right away! I also called my bank and told them to watch the check to make sure that it clears and that these sleaze balls don't cancel the check. These people should be closed for fraudulent business practices. They will tell you everything that you want to hear but behind the scenes is a totally different picture. I just want people read this before they have to go through the same headache I had to go through. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! read more

BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I saw a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in a paper circular for great price, $8,900. I looked online and saw that it was there and there were no glaring issues. Got the carfax an again saw no issues. As I was in the market for this kind of car I was looking everywhere online, literally 10 hours one day. This was the only Jeep on their website. I called Tyme in the morning to confirm that the Jeep for $8,900 was still in stock as I wanted to come and would likely purchase. Very nice, yes it is still here, yes the price is valid, just bring in the ad. Fast forward to 5 hours of driving later and I look at the Jeep on the lot, it looks the same as the picture online and in the ad. The lot# of the paper add matches the sticker on the Jeep, the VIN matches the carfax online. I was asked if I called earlier, Yes, that was me, I got here as soon as I could. I was informed that the $8,900 Jeep was already sold, this was the same color, same year, same model, same everything, same manual transmission but with less miles. Impossible!!! The price on this "other" Jeep is $15k, I protest and say that I called to confirm and was told the Jeep was there this morning. I was told that it was sold last week, but this has less miles and is the same everything else. After asking to take it for a drive and continuing my protest about the price and confirmation just 5 hours earlier I was told that the Jeep on the lot is now also sold. It sold 2 days previous, and has no sold sign on it. 5 hours driving each way, after confirming the price and availability on the phone. I've lost my faith in used car dealerships, Tyme helps perpetuate all the bad things about them. Never again. read more

When I contacted Tyme they prettt much told me I'm a sucker for not getting it checked out by a mechanic before the purchase (which is true) and they would fix it for me at full price. Finally, Tyme auto, if you want to save any sort of face, feel free to contact me and reimburse some money for the lemon of a car you sold me. You had an opportunity the first time I called, and blew it. $3000 in repairs and counting. Needed a new pulley and tensioner, fixed 2 oil leaks (engine was cleaned) changed the brakes, new ball joints. Less than 6 months into owning. I've never felt more cheated. My daughter went here and purchased a cheap car not expecting much, BUT did expect it to start the next day. It did not. They would not do anything about it at all. Also, she paid for them to get her a plate and they said they would send it to her. It never came. The temporary was expiring. She called to ask about it and they said they had been trying to contact for some piece of information and she never returned their call. However, there were no calls in her call log and no emails from them. Her father called them to ask for her money back on the license plate and miraculously they produced a plate. Horrible experience. I came in on a Saturday to test drive a 2007 Toyota Prius. The price was initially $2,550. After the test drive, I informed the salesperson, whose name was Roger, that I wanted to purchase the vehicle and that I would be back on Monday to pay cash for it as my credit union was closed at that time. Later that evening, the company increased the the amount of the purchase price to $3,795 on their website. I called Roger on Monday to inform him that I was on my way to purchase the vehicle. He informed me that they had to increase the price because they had sent it to a paint shop. This was very deception in my opinion because the price had been $2,550 for a week before I had came into the dealership for a test drive. I would hate to allege something as serious as potential racism but I will be filing a complaint to investigate this possibility. read more

TYME auto seemed like the perfect place to buy a car because it looked so family oriented and good natured. I had been without a car for 2 months with a full time job and needed one asap. Because I was 19 years old when I bought it they told me that the only car I was eligible for was the 2006 Hyundai Elantra on their lot. Being so impatient to have a car I bought it. The car had dents that they promised the dents would be taken care of if I purchased the vehicle so I did for $5,500. I am currently still paying off the car at a crazy rate of interest. Long story short the dents have never been fixed and the second I left the lot my car would stall out at red lights and when I was driving the car wouldn't shift right. I took it to them the next day and they said they would fix it. I got it back and on the way home it began to have the same problems as if they never fixed it. I took it back a total of FIVE TIMES without it actually being fixed. They would do the minimum amount of work to mask the problem and make me go away. On top of the POS car I was locked into the way the old man owner and his employee treated me was so aggravating. They were nice to me pre sale and then were beyond rude and unhelpful post sale. I will end up paying around $10,000 for this lemon after all is said and done and if you are thinking about buying a car from them, even if it looks perfect for you and it's your dream car at your dream price DO NOT DO IT!!!!! Purchased a first car for my daughter here. Appeared to be a good place to purchase as the location was close to home and it was family run. First salesman went out on some emergency and didn't follow up, 2nd salesman was Trish and then Junior as Trish was so often unavailable. Trish/ Junior promised to fix an engine light before we purchased. Then they said taken the vehicle to 2 or 3 of their repair places and it was just a seat belt sensor that would fix itself automatically when we replaced the radio. A non working radio was not a deal breaker for us but after first oil change at dealership after purchasing this car for my 18 year old daughter actually the engine sensor light was not a faulty sensor on the seat belt, it was for the AIR BAG, that would not deploy even in the event of an accident. They KNEW this and sold a car to us even knowing my young daughter was going to be the one driving it. Keep your money and stay far away from this place. read more

I purchased my son's first car from Tyme Auto. For a 16 year old boy i didn't want to get a brand new car, so i browsed the used cars on their lot. I told my son to pick something out under $4000 and he ended up picking a 2004 Ford Taraus. It has been 1 year and the only thing we have had to do is get the oil changed, and get new brakes. To me, and my past experience with used cars, this is probably the best deal i have ever gotten as far as getting my moneys worth. Be careful with your money....I wish I would have read these reviews a week or so sooner, it would have saved me time, energy and money! My story is the same as some of the others. My husband and daughter looked online to find a truck and thought that they had found it. It was right after Christmas and they were excited-drove 150 miles to this dealer rather than a buy from an individual to have some comfort in the quality and reliability of the vehicle. My husband is not a car person, so he asked specifically about the motor and any other issues that we might need to know about. A few minor things that we are aware of so he decides to buy it. My husband did not test drive the vehicle, and after buying it, it stalled a couple blocks from the sales lot. Ok, no big deal, it is used and we expected to have some minor issues. 2 days later the engine light comes on and still having issues with it stalling. We took it the local repair shop that we use just to see what was causing the problem. This is where the fun really begins. There was a radiator leak, 2 anti- freeze leaks and the back brake was rusted to the point that it wasn't stopping the tire. Press on the brake and the tire continued to spin. There was a laundry list of other items with the front end that made it possibly unsafe to send our 17-year-old daughter out in. Some of this, normal wear and tear; other stuff I would not have expected to experience when buying from a dealer. Several responses on here replying to the others who have had similar experiences state" we assure you that our mechanic checks all cars on the lot to make sure there are no major repairs to be done before they're put up for sale". So I call and talk to them about the repairs and how upset I am that a dealer didn't see some of these issues. He wanted me to bring the truck to them and they would fix at their "warranty" rate of 25% off. I don't know about you, but I am not so sure that I want their mechanic to fix the vehicle if he was the one that checked it and passed it with these issues. They assured me that they could take the truck to an auction and get $5,000 out of it as is. I was pretty frustrated and then he told me that they could probably sell the truck for me and get me the money that I paid out of it. I asked what about the problems that it had, his reply was that the next person to buy it would hopefully check it out better than my husband did. It was then that I should have given up and realized the type of people that I was dealing with. Although it was tempting to take him up on this offer, I knew that I couldn't stoop to that level of deception just to make my situation better. JR then wanted to know the number of my repair shop and personally called and talked to him. I was hoping that he might at least maybe offer to help with the radiator and brake costs since, in my opinion, this should have been detected by the mechanic and disclosed. I got a call later in the evening from him, and he told me about what probably needed to be done and that some of it could wait until later to be fixed. The majority of the call was him "helping" me by telling me what to say to the mechanic to essentially put a band-aid on it and just to address the stalling issue. He then said that my husband implied that he was a mechanic or knew something about cars and apparently got in "over his head" with this. This is when I knew I had wasted my time and nothing more was going to be gained by continuing the conversation. I politely thanked him and assured him that I knew what to ask the mechanic to get the truck to stop from stalling in order to get it fixed. In the end, an expensive lesson was learned. The vehicle is now out of the shop and in good and safe running order all at my expense. I hope the next person reads the reviews before purchasing from this business or find someone to inspect the vehicle before buying. read more

This is a terrible company with terrible employees, which are liars... I went in earlier this week and looked at a vehicle, the sales lady said it was for example 12,000. Sweet! sounded like a good deal, told them I'd be back later that week. Came in today Thursday and same sales lady was there, and now the owner. Looked at the vehicle again and told them I was very interested. While I was there I asked them again how much it was, I got didn't receive a straight number? It fluctuated from 14-18k? They kept saying it all depended on my credit. They asked me where I wanted to be at and I said "Well she told me it was somewhere between 11;k and 12k monday." He snickered and said you told him what? and she said I would never say that price! and preceded to insist I was lying. I changed my mind because they were so unsure of the price. They were all over the place. I pick up those magazines you see at krogers where cars are listed and what do I see? There ad... With the car I wanted that the listed price was "11,800" REALLY?? You pretty much called me a liar and lied to not only your boss but to me? This place is full of crooks. It quite embarrassing. read more

Completely ripped off at Tyme Auto. Purchased a decent looking car, but the first time we hit freeway the check engine light and OD Off light started flashing. Turned out to be a bad trans. Had it rebuilt at a reputable trans shop. Tyme would not help with the cost of the trans at all (had a warranty, but I failed to use their mechanic). Actually they said they would help pay, and would put a check in the mail, but that check never showed. I usually favor local small businesses, but never again this place. I believe they hide/cover the problems just long enough to get the car sold. read more

I'm not sure where to begin...I settled on Tyme because it was a small family owned business in the community I work. Brendan was my sales person and a nice kid. I purchased a 2004 Ford Escape that was advertised to have 115k miles but ends up it has 220k miles. I test drove the car twice and took it to my mechanic to do a quick "look over" inspection---transmission, tires, short test drive. Truck seemed to be in good working condition! WRONG. I have not had the car three weeks and I have taken it to my mechanic three times! First time--noise after driving it for two days on the break in system---(mechanic thinks a tire rod or control rod) called them because Brendan assured me there was a 30 day warranty on anything that goes wrong on the car! Called them and now Junior the owner is the only one I'm talking to about this first issue and his response was a car that old will need work and we don't do repairs under warranty but give discount! NOT WHAT BRENDAN SAID AT ALL! Now mind you he did say bring it in but the convo made me leary of what kind of repair job may happen--plus it was four days before Christmas. Three more days pass and I'm driving and the car starts stuttering---basically shutting off while my 16 year old son was driving! This could have been tragic! I take it to my mechanic 3 spark plugs are completely bad-$150 to replace the one that's completely not working. Today, I decide to warm the truck up and have always noticed this object under the car that doesn't look like a manufacturer part--and exhaust is coming out of it under the middle of the truck. There is a hole in the exhaust pipe! Mind you I bought the car on December 17 and it's January 6---MAYBE driven the car 10 times max. THESE CARS ARE NO GOOD!! I trusted this family owned business and feel duped! How do you sell a car with bad exhaust---it could kill someone! I have thought about filing a small claims suit because I don't think these people will budge--they are all about making the dollar! I had to call them to ask about my lic plate versus them calling and saying it's at their location. I'm just waiting to see what else will go wrong with this truck...by no means was I expecting a brand new car but what I was expecting based off numerous visits and convos was a decent car that wouldn't cost me $700 out the door ontop of the amount I borrowed from the bank. What's more disturbing is they claim to be good family business and I overlooked the bad reviews as a company can't have 100% rating but not HONOR THE 30 warranty for anything that goes wrong is bad business. I am single parent that works hard for every dollar and they have just taken that in the last three weeks. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else---and I am on a platform that could definitely make some noise about this but we shall see what their response will be.
