Took car in for repair to hitch and rear bumper valence from getting rear ended. Got car back with hitch installed within 1/8" of tailpipe and exhaust noise that wasn't present when I took it in. Nick tried to tell me it was fine. I said no its not and take care of it or we have a chat with General Manager. Get a call from Body Shop manager, Kyle. He seemed more reasonable. I leave the car there Monday afternoon. Friday morning I leave a message requesting status. Nothing. Call back Monday and get lame excuse from Kyle that he got busy - all day? Too busy for a 2 minute call. Anyway, says car should be done and returned Tuesday. Car comes back Wednesday. Hitch now installed properly and exhaust noise gone...along with the resonator. They simply cut it out and straight piped to next part of exhaust. It was a nice bolt together modular system, now its not. And it took 8 days! I called about this. When I asked if he knew it had been deleted he prevaricated - resonator doesn't really do anything, resonator not available, system was old you don't need it. Very hostile and defensive. I tried to explain that Ford doesn't put parts on for sport and to waste money and that dealership has a duty to return car in the condition it was received in. He hung up on me. Left a message for the General Manager. He hasn't called either. Take your car there if this is how you want to be treated. Update. Posted yesterday, got a call today from GM today. Not sure if cause and effect or not. He sounded reasonable and said it would all be resolved. I will update once that happens. Update: dealership agreed to take care of putting exhaust back to how it was. Discussed with Kyle. He was unrepentant about the removal of the resonator, maintaining it was okay to do. It was also clear from his comments that the reason I got a call from the GM was because of my review. I explained to him exactly what needed to be done. Apparently it was too complicated for him to handle so he said, why don't you just take it somewhere and get a quote and bring here for our approval. Sure, let me do all the work to fix your mistake. I did this, then took them the paid receipt on 8.29. When I got to the dealership he was in the parking lot explaining the intricacies of something under the hood to a customer. It was way more complex than an exhaust repair. I waited a few minutes until there was a logical pause and tried to give him the receipt. He snapped at me that he was with a customer. I said I'm just trying to give you the receipt. He told me I'd have to wait. He could have taken it in the time he was busy snapping at me. I went inside and handed it to a service writer named Devin and asked that he give it to Kyle with instructions to mail me the check. I had faith in Devin as he is always great to deal with when you take your car there. Then I was out of town and returned on 9/10. I did not see the check in my mail pile. I called the GM and left a message on 9/11. Check finally arrived the other day. Today is 9/18 and GM never called me back. I would have loved to discuss this with the him - maybe my perceptions are off or not accurate, but since GM didn't return my call I have to assume I'm spot on. I brought my Maverick in for "The Works" and for the reprogramming for the trailer module recall. The work was completed sooner than promised. I feel that the price for "the works" was competitive with oil change businesses, and I like to think the dealership would be more attentive to any Ford-specific mechanical nuances to watch for. read more

Sadly, it came down to the competitive trucks as my choices. I landed on the Ford Ranger as my final choice. I shopped two other Ford dealers before landing at Blackwell. I was fortunate to get Cary Crouch when I called. Cary was terrific to work with, and he quickly met my purchase needs. This review encompasses my experience from the past year. Awful dealership. Almost 2 months out of the 11 months I have owned this vehicle that I bought from Blackwell ford has it not been in my possession. Instead, it's been sitting at the service center at Blackwell Ford or the Traverse City service center. I truly was so excited to go to Blackwell as they have seemingly taken care of my grandparents, my parents, etc. Unfortunately, like most things these days...it is all just a money grab. I bought my used car from them and that was that. Within 6 days of owning my 2020 ecosport, the check engine light came on. Now, this was something they could not have foreseen, but when I took it in it was days upon days before I finally got it back. At least I got a loaner vehicle and they did comp that- which was nice of them. I will say the service center and Derek who does the warranty work there, they are all great! Then, I go for a drive to Ohio so I'm a few hours away and it got hot that day...tried to turn on the air. Nothing. Air conditioning is broken. So we call up there...they set up an appointment for this past Monday. I drop off my vehicle and it is at first a question of if we will have to pay anything...we go to our sales guy, who it isn't worth mentioning his name as he has now retired. This guy, who has always been helpful in the past...except for now...that we have signed on the dotted line and already purchased. He says anything to do with paying for it is out of his hands and goes on to say that is why he always recommends getting a warranty...thank you for your wisdom and your incredible customer service. I got a warranty already, but it didn't cover these things, but as all of this has happened within 20-30 days on a seemingly great vehicle I figured they'd want to help out a loyal customer. Tuesday goes by and they still haven't even LOOKED at my vehicle. It isn't until Wednesday, two days after my appointment that they even take a look to determine what is going on. Then they have to order a part (imagine if they had just looked on Monday) and it gets in yesterday, Thursday. We get a call to let us know that it should be ready to go but within an hour they call to let us know other vehicles being worked on are taking longer...it won't be ready until Friday. I end up calling and as nicely as possible in this frustrating situation, tell them that they have absolutely messed up my work week. Within another two hours we get a call to let us know it's ready for pick up. They ended up not charging me anything...which again, they shouldn't for something they missed in the first place...but the best part? We had also asked them to fix my driver side window...about every 10 times or so it gets stuck and it won't go up or down...they didn't even try to diagnose that and as I drove away it got stuck, telling me they didn't even care. I leave this review because to me...people should understand that this dealership is not what it used to be. They do not take pride in their vehicles, nor the customers that they sell to. My vehicle is still not right, and I wish so badly I could just return it and go elsewhere but I am stuck with a 20k loan and a $350 payment a month for a vehicle I've hardly even driven. Please be cautious when working with this dealership because I wish I could go back in time and go literally anywhere else. UPDATE 5/9/2025 - car completely broken down and has a destroyed engine while on vacation 4 hours from home. This took over 33 days to get fixed and I still have not seen reimbursement after sending in a 14 page document to ford customer service. read more

My transaction was smooth and complete, it took 12 minutes when I went to the dealership until I drove out with the car, but when I called back to ask the salesman where the floor mats were, he said that model doesn't come with floor mats and then I asked where is the insert for the console on the bronco he says I don't know if those are available. You can probably get one on Amazon although this is my third bronco and all of them came with the insert inside the console for Chapstick and other items and they all came with floor mats I don't know who's getting cheap Blackwell Ford or Ford motor company themselves But for $55,000 it should come with both of those items. read more

Service at this dealership is subpar. I have come here many times because is close to my house but I recommend you go elsewhere if you can. Among my issues with them is long waiting times, work not being performed, leaving the car for a few days to perform a recall to only find out they could not do it because of a missing part, not offering loaners for that stuff either, and other issues with attitude. read more

I had to call after 4pm just to be transferred to various voicemails. Took me calling back several times before I actually spoke with a person only for them to inform me that they needed to keep the vehicle overnight. I recently encountered a transmission issue with my Ford vehicle and had to bring it to Blackwell Ford for service. Unfortunately, having to take your car into a dealership for service can be an unsettling experience. Far too many horror stories regarding vehicle service, especially transmission repair, have been told over the years, and it's hard to not wonder if you may be the next victim. Fortunately, my experience at Blackwell Ford was pleasant. I was anticipating the worst when receiving the call telling me what was wrong with my transmission, and the associated cost. However, there was no cost to me because the Service Dept. at Blackwell was able to make the necessary repairs under an existing recall that I was completely unaware of. They could have used this as an opportunity to take advantage of me but they used it instead as an opportunity to delight. As a result, when I needed a new battery I didn't hesitate to take it right back to Blackwell Ford to be serviced. Once again, they provided quick and accurate service at a fair price. Lastly, I enjoy the convenience of making a service appointment online rather than having to call. In light of both of my recent experiences at Blackwell Ford, I certainly feel comfortable recommending their Service Dept. team. read more

While I do not have a problem with our Sales rep, the service dept was an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!!! Had an appointment scheduled 2 weeks out got car into them and on the paper work was promised back by 16:00 that day, well lets just say 16:00 came and went and no call or car. tried to call them and it went to voicemail. Went in the next day to talk to my sales rep and to get my car found out that not only has it not been looked at yet but was told that they knew they could not get to my car yesterday and might not be able to get to it today! The car drop-off is efficient and they offer shuttles to nearby residences and businesses. That's the good part. The bad part: their service team is lazy or incompetent. Keep reading if you want to understand why I say this. I took my 2013 Focus there while it was still under warranty because the hatch did not open when I pressed the button on the dash. I told them that another dealership had already put grease on the mechanism, which hadn't helped, and that it's not an issue of grease (because when I used the key fob, there was no problem). All they did was add more grease despite my advice. More recently (9 months ago), I took it back for 60k mile check up. They claimed to do "the works" inspection, including tire tread and brake pad condition. They said the tires had over 6mm of tread left and the brake pads had 5-6mm of pad left. However, as soon as I got home I check the tires myself and the wear bars were already showing - clearly they did not perform the tire inspection and just said it was all OK. Then 5,000 miles later, I recently had my brakes checked elsewhere due to noise, and they found there were NO brake pads left. I know that brake pads do not wear by 1mm every thousand miles. Conclusion: they also did not perform the brake inspection. I called and requested a partial refund of what I paid for the inspection and they said "there's nothing we can do." read more

Mark is very polite, friendly and more than willing to help out with our shopping and concerns. Test drove a Explorer and need to make a decision. The dealership is going through some major renovations and it looks like the updates will be a more modern version of Blackwell Ford. We STILL have not been given a reason to go elsewhere. read more

I've tried to bring my car in 3 times and they have electronically canceled my appointments so I made an in person appointment told them what was wrong they scheduled me for two weeks out I took it in today the service guy refused to even look at it because I bought it from another dealership told me to take it back to where I bought it at which is not local. I've had to use this place for service on my work vehicle several times, and it's consistently a bad, customer-hostile experience. I've taken my car in just to get an oil change numerous times, and it always takes a minimum of two hours to complete at their "Quick" Lane. This seems to be the usual case there, yet they won't take appointments, which might otherwise help get folks in and out in a reasonable period of time. Another time, I took my car in for a recall repair along with an oil change. The Quick Lane did the oil change, but then told me I'd have to drive the car next door myself to the dealer for the recall. That was frustrating enough, but then the dealer service desk told me that wasn't the case, and that I needed to go back over to Quick Lane and wait in line all over again. I advise anyone who expects decent service to avoid this place. They don't seem to care much about the actual customer experience, and I haven't seen any evidence of them effectively improving things over the course of several years. read more

Service, my wife recently came for a traction control light on her Edge. I typically take our cars in for service, but she was off and I asked if she could take it in and take their shuttle back since we live only about 3 miles away. Well was I WRONG to think that, she was up there for an hour with no ride in sight. I then had to go get her anyway, who in this day and age doesn't offer a ride home in under an hour (with a 3 mile or less ride). On top of that, I took her back to pick her car up, and maybe I am spoiled by the Chevy dealership at Hamilton Chevrolet (or most dealerships), but I was surprised to see that Blackwell did not give it a quick wash. This was a Ford warranty repair and something I feel would warrant a 3 minute car wash. I see others have had bad experiences too and have received a "canned" response about calling back in. That sound like a great idea, let me call you back and complain again about your poor service. Why don't you just implement two drivers during the morning and wash all cars that are serviced. I bet you would have more business! We moved from Dearborn to Canton and I can assure you, YOU @ Blackwell do not even closely compare to Village Ford in Dearborn. Such a shame what customer service has come to anymore. We've had many issues with our Taurus and have come to Blackwell the past couple times. There were a few bumps with their service here and there but nothing too serious or things that they didn't right us on. This past time I was working with their service tech Earl and should have known what kind of experience was in store based off of his less than welcoming attitude to check me in and hear the issues I was having. The next day when he called with a diagnosis, he tried to tell us we needed to pay $1200 for something that should have been covered under warranty. When my husband questioned it he had the audacity to tell my husband he "seemed high strung bro" and that he needed to chill out. At that point we asked them to put our car back together so we could come pick it up because we will never do business there again. Upsetting because it is our local ford dealer but we will most definitely drive far out of our way going forward to receive any service needed so we do not have to deal with being talked to the way they allow their employees to speak to people. I had my car serviced for several recalls and an underbody rattle noise on September 28, 2015. Arranging the shuttle service was time consuming and have very limited hours - I was required to locate another ride to pick up the vehicle upon completion. Worse, when I picked up the vehicle the rear tail light was not functional. This was NOT an issue when I dropped off the vehicle. When I called to complain, the service agent (I believe her first name was Jennifer) was rude and stated the light was out when the car was dropped off. They also stated it was listed on the technician report. It was, but this was never mentioned it when confirming the service repair cost. Clearly the damage was done during repair. They damaged the vehicle and did not take responsibility. Do not trust this service group! read more

They have had my truck for two weeks and it's still in pieces. They told us last week it was ready to test drive. My fiancé went there to test drive it and that's how we found out it was in pieces. The service Dept. leaves much to be desired. They had my vehicle for a week, no calls to me as to what was going on. When I called them to check on it I was told they were just looking at it, after having it a WEEK!, it was taken care of that day and sent to the body Shop. The body shop has been very good. They have called to let me know what was going on. When I mentioned to them that I could not believe how long Service had my car she suggested that I talk to the service manager, she would leave him a message. No return call. I called the service manager myself, left a message, no return call. The service Dept at this dealership is unacceptable. I spoke to a friend who works in another service shop, was told that my service issue should have taken no longer to diagnose and repair that 2 hours. THEY HAD IT A WEEK! read more

Although I didn't purchase my 2011 Fiesta here, I've been bringing it to this dealer for regular services such as oil changes since I moved to Plymouth. The staff has always been exceedingly friendly, helpful, efficient, and kind, but today's experience really compelled me to write a review. My tail light was smashed last week so I went in on Monday to have the part ordered. I was told that because of the pre-holiday rush, that when I brought my car in for the repair I might have to wait several hours. I understood this and brought it in today when I was informed that the part had arrived. The gentleman who worked on my car was very friendly and informed me that he could probably have it done in under half an hour - needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised! I sat down to wait, and 15 minutes later I was informed that the repair was complete. Not only that...he refused to charge me for the labour. "It's a little Christmas gift," he said. Little things like this are what running a great business is all about. I am kicking myself for not asking the gentleman for his name, but thanks to him and the overall friendliness of the whole staff, I will continue to take my car here for service until the wheels fall off. We had a truck towed to them, it has been over 3 weeks and they are just now saying that they are fixing the issue. We have called numerous times and no one has any answers. Then we want to have it towed away to have it serviced elsewhere and NOW they are looking into fixing it. Come here if you want to get scammed! They do a diagnosis on my car. $125. Determine a light bulb needs to be replaced. They quote me $220 on the phone and I agree. Then i mention I have a $20 coupon. When I come to pick up the car, they jacked up the price to $250 (most likely to cover the coupon or just lied to begin with). TO REPLACE A LIGHT BULB! And then they bring the manager out to argue that I signed the estimate, which didn't have an estimated price because it was a diagnosis to determine what needed to be fixed in the first place! Absolutely horrible, incompetent customer service. And they can't justify the labor cost TO REPLACE A BULB! Never again. read more

Don't waste your time at this dealership! I went in to the dealership tonight interested in looking at 2 vehicles. I was greeted by a rude and very unapproachable front desk woman. She asked if I had been in before, after telling her it had been many years but I had been in once before, she responds with "he's gone for the night, he can call you tomorrow." I explained that I drove up here to look at 2 cars and just want to know if they were in stock so I could look at them. After yelling across the room to salesman, he responds with a huge sigh and says he has someone coming in, seemed very irritated and said he had 1 minute for me. In the meantime, there were 3 other sales people sitting at their desks with no one else in the dealership. This certainly wasn't a warm, fuzzy feeling to walk into a dealership, looking to give them your business. Needless to say, I will never go back there. Blackwell Ford is the worse Ford dealer in the local Detroit area. Their sales people are sleazy and their marketing department uses cheap bait and switch tricks to get you to the dealer. I was sent a letter that they wanted me to trade in my vehicle early with them and my vehicle was exactly what they were looking for. However, after talking to Steve a sales manager he said this was not true and he does not write the letters. In addition, he tried to quote me a price higher than two other Ford Dealers I talked to. would stay away from this dealership if you want honesty. This review deserves a disclaimer....my comments in no way reflect my experience becoming a customer of the dealership. I was referred to Mark Cameron and I must say it was the best car buying experience I've ever had. Mark was the consummate professional and I will go to him for all future purchases or lease of Ford vehicles. The one star review directly relates to my experience in the parts/service department. After reading the reviews, I realize I should have expected what happened. I leased an F-150 and decided to order Ford WeatherTech floor mats from the dealer. I placed the order and went to pick them up only to find they ordered the wrong mats. As it turned out, they had the mats I wanted in stock. The clerk brought them out and when we removed them from the box they were somewhat disfigured due to the manner in which they were packed. While I was willing to accept the clerks opinion that they would "straighten out" after being in the vehicle, I wanted assurance that if they didn't I could return them. I asked the clerk to make a note on the invoice so I would not have a problem should I need to return them. He ostensibly spoke to his supervisor and I was told they would not make that notation on the invoice. These floor mats are over $100 and I was unwilling to accept what was obviously a blemished product. If the manager was so certain I wouldn't have an issue, there should have been no reason to deny my request for a notation on the invoice. Obviously I didn't purchase the mats from them and I will not return to the service department for any reason. My opinion is that when a service organization shows you who they are....believe them. In the final analysis....have confidence in working with Mark Cameron to purchase or lease a vehicle, but stay away from the service department. read more
