They paid 93k for a red 1971 f100. From what I can tell changed the rims and maybe tires. Also the rocker trim. They have it listed for .... Get this 229k!!! Seriously? Besides buyer's premium what did you do to the truck to justify the extra 100k ? That right there is how I couldn't trust a company like that. 25-maybe 35k profit ya... but 100k? I saw a 1976 Cadillac Coupe Deville with 14k miles that caught my eye. I was a bit unsure of sending a $10k deposit sight unseen. I called Vanguard, and after speaking with Tom, I went to the bank and wired it immediately. A few days later. I sent the balance an was kept informed on each step with Tracey and Marie. I asked a few questions, and they were answered in short order. The morning the car shipped, Ryan sent me a video and gave me the driver's name and number. Corrie, the driver called and told me when he would arrive, and he was here when he said he would. The car is BEAUTIFUL!!! I took it to my tech, and after 3 hours of inspection and tests, he told me, "The ONLY thing this car needs, is some gas!!!. I purchased a 1969 Chevelle from them in Jan 2019. Pro's - the vehicle body, frame and paint are excellent. Interior is nice. Con's - I've had to spend over 15K on fixing the 572 Chevy crate engine in the car. After 3 months and only 100 miles driven the car broke down (plus battery died). Found out head gasket was leaking coolant into the engine. When engine was taken apart they found broken rocker springs. Ending up having engine rebuilt. Although it had a 572 engine, numerous important items were not upgraded to meet the new engine size. I had to have a new, large radiator put in with fans, a new starter, and the transmission had to be rebuilt as it was beat up and metal shavings were in the fluid. I would think they would do more testing on vehicles especially the motors. read more

I was really hesitant about selling my Chevelle to Vanguard, especially since I don't live anywhere near them. But I gotta say they really made the whole process easy. I took a deposit, they shipped my Chevelle free of charge to their shop, verified the condition, then paid me the same day they got the got the car. I have been involved with Vangard since spring of 2016. I thought this was the coolest place to come and check out all the old cars. What has amazed me the most is their dedication to quality. Every day they are trying to improve from the day before. I can assure you what I though was high quality 4 years ago, isn't close to the quality of their inventory today. An other attribute is their open door and the transparency they have. The time they invest in finding quality cars, their inspection process and purchasing process is open and accommodates everyone from the seller, to the shipping ONLY in closed containers, to the over 100 point inspection in their own shop, and the finished vehicles again ONLY shipped to the end user in enclosed trailers is impressive. ** READ BEFORE MAKING A PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY ** I purchased a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle in March 2020. I had been looking at their website for 2 years and I told myself that one day I would spoil myself One morning I wake up and I see a magnificent Chevelle SS Rouge 1968 with 396 WOW engine I fall in love I am from Quebec in Canada and I personally do not speak perfect English but a colleague speaks perfect so he helped me deal remotely. We did business with Tom and Brett who were friendly and courteous. They sent us 3 Videos and lots of photos and to believe their word and professionalism the Chevelle is quite like new. We gave a deposit of $ 1000 in the morning as a reservation as I was asked and the total payment of $ 74,900 USA converted to Canadian at the ring of $ 94,400 was paid within 72 hours The amount was very high but I had the confidence of Brett and Tom that the vehicle was quite as new with no hidden defects A few days later we paid the charge for customs and broker ... until then everything was going great and I was really looking forward to having my new car About 1 month and 2 weeks later we get the call from the private carrier and tell us that the vehicle will arrive in a few hours WOW I was super happy and excited ... The fabulous 1968 Chevelle Rouge arrived around 8:00 p.m. ... I was with my dad and my colleague who had everything sorted out with Brett and Tom by phone and email. The driver was super nice and professional ..... THE PROBLEMS BEGIN ...... I'm just happy got into my dream vehicle (noted that I never drove the vehicle on the road as there was a downpour of rain) I reverse the car in the garage and I realize that the vehicle has no brakes ... pedal fully ... we realize that there is a wheel filled with brake fluid .. .we probably see a caliper .... I am still surprised because the vehicle had been refurbished by Vanguard and everything was perfect ... I told myself okay this is probably a silliness. I start to walk around the vehicle..The first that I realize and the interior molding which is broken and visible from the outside, then I open the door on the driver's side and I see 4 wascher with lots of plastic not even sanded and polished with lots of repair Default, the so-called gutter molding was stuck with a transparent silicone over the rust and really badly installed with traces plastic repairs, the sill has been welded but not in the original place and we see traces of welds and repairs from a beginner, I then open the door on the passenger side and I notice that the door moldings are on board over the rear exterior molding and a lot more, the gutter was put on poorly installed plastic and we see the presence of rust and an incredibly poor finish ... I just can't believe it .. ... my eyes turn to the th Inch pilar and we see several bumps ... as if we tried dent removal but it did not work (this is really surprising for a car that has received a restoration) The inside of the inch panel is full of bumps and the paint quality is unacceptable and can even be done with the sheap can. I look at the interior and the roof arch is torn, several interior moldings all scratched. I open the hood to see this wonderful engine and I see the headers leaning against the frame of the vehicle and a plugged wire or the radiator and presence of prestons on the ground ......... but otherwise the work of the engine and the wiring was well done apart from the pipes which I was not attached to the radiator and the headers stuck on the FRAME. .. We open the back case and HORROR a coating has been applied to the rust directly. We can really see welding and traces of rust ... the fenders have been replaced and welded by someone new and more the coating was put on the rust :( I decide to raise the vehicle on the lift :( :( :( THE FRAME HAS BEEN CUT AND REWELDING (there is even a lack of welding at the frame level. The frame has rust hidden under a plaster So as you can see we sent all the pictures to Vanguard and after several days I just couldn't believe that a big company like this tried to deliver a vehicle to me in an unacceptable condition. In addition he sells it as a completely like new vehicle and at no time was it told me of Default. When I received the confirmation of the total refund I expected a quick refund but no this took 5 weeks and between the time of my purchase and the refund the Canadian Dollars was not at the same rate therefore, The amount paid by me in Canadians is $ 94,400 and I was reimbursed $ 87,800 so a loss of $ 6,600 plus customs fees etc of about $ 600 so a total of $ 7,100 loss for dealing with a company that tried to defraud me. On several occasions we phoned to have the payment because the Dollars was almost identical ... but the day he reimbursed me (5 weeks later) the dollars were at their lowest. .Is this wanted from this business ??? We tried to negotiate an agreement with eu but we received confirmation that it offers nothing read more

We purchased our1954 Ford F100 pickup from vanguard, received it late fall and stored it for the winter. We had nothing but problems with the engine. Long story short, the crankshaft was vibrating so much (1" of play) that it cracked the block. The worse part is we bought it as a 347 stroker, advertised in more than one ad. It was a stock 302. So we didn't get what was advertised and after 500 miles it needed a rebuild. To make it a true 347 we had to purchase parts, including a torque converter. Cost to us? About $10,000. They sent a check for $5000, so they agree they advertised incorrectly but will not cover the whole cost. 1954 Ford pickup with wonderful write up? $49,900. 1954 Ford pickup with a junk motor? Useless. I truly think Vanguard did not check this over. Buy it and mark it up, sell it. Too bad we were the ones who suffered. read more

INSPECT IN PERSON BEFORE YOU DECIDE!!! I made the mistake of taking the word of the Vanguard sales staff (including Tom), and the photos and video of the vehicle as being a great representation and full disclosure of the car and it's condition. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They advertise a 140 point inspection, but it's obvious now that things like brakes, bolts, lines, wiring, oil leaks, and other essential items are not on that inspection list. After driving the car for less than 200 miles I notice some problems, and after taking it to a local restoration shop and performing a thorough inspection (mechanical and safety) I have just spent another $13k+ to resolve issues that were found, and there is more even more to do. I love the car but had I known the mechanical and safety issued that existed I would have opted for another vehicle that, although a little more expensive, was completely sorted out with builder's information that was thorough and reputable. Don't take any chances, inspect don't expect!!! Once the deal is made you will have to live with it (good or bad). Good luck. This company was not honest and did not stand behind their "rotisserie restored 69 charger." Dent in the car they shined up and one problem after another. Had to send to RK motors to resolve unmentioned problems, costing several thousand dollars. I would never recommend or buy a car from these guys again. Was asked not to send a 100k car in the blizzard anyway on a truck that broke down only to take back to Michigan and resend again, what a nightmare! read more

CAVEAT EMPTOR !!!.......... (Let the Buyer beware!) I am living through the misfortune of believing that the evaluation, photos and video of the car I purchased from Vanguard represented the whole story, and that the conversations I had during the purchasing process were transparent and honest. Unfortunately, what I saw and heard was not the whole story. The car is beautiful from the top side and appeared to be sorted out in the photos and video, but once the car arrived the issues began: Tires rubbing on the inner body panels because the wheel/tire combination was too big; no horn or operational turn signals (isn't that a safety requirement?); rear leaf springs bolted on with undersized and low grade bolts, with 2 out of 8 bolts missing from the frame brackets; rear shock mounts and shock mounting geometry completely wrong with stress on shocks; rear pinion seal leaking (spraying the underside of car); wiring laying on top of exhaust system and muffler; brake line tubing used for fuel lines; emergency brake cables cut (not removed, just cut off on both sides); brake master cylinder and booster hanging below frame rails; front brake lines too long and covered in rubber hose (ty-wrapped on) to prevent rubbing on front tire during sharp turns; front disc brake calipers rubbing on the inside of the rims (ground off paint); wheel studs (2) backed out with only 3 threads holding nuts on; front brake calipers ground down to fit on modified Mustang II front end; transmission leaking from every available seal point; internal engine vibration at anything over idle; transmission mounting bracket missing one of two hold-down bolts; battery in trunk held down with a bungee cord; battery disconnect wired to negative side of battery instead of positive (not a true disconnect as any powered and grounded accessories will still draw a current); clock mounted in glove box door is a digital clock that is not compatible with the gauge system in the dash and is basically a blank face that does nothing; transmission linkage is modified and does not provide positive gear selection. I've been sorting out the problems since I got the car, and now I have taken it to a local shop to sort out the engine vibration and transmission leak issues. It may be a lot to ask, but a little honesty would go a long way in this business. It sounds like there are other customers that have been treated fairly (lucky for them), but in my case, not so much. I will have invested another $8k to $9k in the car before this is done, and had I known the problems existed in the first place would not have bought the car, or at least not paid what I did for it. The Vanguard 140 point inspection must have been done in the dark with sunglasses on, because there were a LOT of obvious problems that did not get discovered. Good luck with your purchase, and DO NOT take their word or pictures as a basis for your decision! Go see for yourself or take a good mechanic with you. read more
