Mark Shephard was very helpful. The oil change and tire rotation took about 1.5 hrs. Not too bad as I had a 11:30 a.m. appt. WiFi is slow, but no biggie overall. We bought a used car for our son, everything went well- until the finance paperwork. We are military and Florida residents. We needed certain papers from Tysinger that we did not get in a timely manner, so we had to get an extension on the temporary tags. I drove up to Hampton from Chesapeake to Get the paperwork- (vin verification) but it was given to me unnotarized. I was told a notarized copy would be sent first thing Monday, overnight. It was not. That was also delayed. Again, resulting in us delaying sending our paperwork to Florida DMV. Finally we received it, sent it off, but because everything was delayed, we now need another extension. Emails and phone calls from their finance manager are not being returned. This has been the most unprofessional process I've dealt with. I was also in the car business, I grew up with a family who owned a dealership. I've never seen people drop the ball over and over again. I will never recommend Tysinger to anyone. read more

I r took my Hyundai Sonata to Tysinger Hyundai in Hampton for a simple oil change and tire rotation in the beginning of May. They took several hours to complete the service and I returned to pick up my vehicle around lunch time. Upon leaving, I only made it about a quarter of a mile before I noticed something was wrong with my vehicle. I began to slow down and when I did my left rear tire flew by me and into a nearby field. I immediately called Tysinger service department to tell them that they had failed to tighten my lug nuts properly and my tire had come up, causing damage to the rotors as well as ripping the bumper off. They sent the same technician that worked on my car out to help me. He didn't bring a jack with him when he showed up 15 minutes later and had to return to the shop. Meanwhile another nice gentleman who worked for Hyundai stopped to help me. He stayed with me until my technician returned. My technician went into the field and retrieved my tire, and proceeded to put it back on and then asked ME to drive my car back to the dealership. I informed him that since I did not know the extent of the damage I did not wish to drive my vehicle until it had been fully repaired. He seemed annoyed by my request and stated that this was not his fault. My husband picked me up at the scene and we went back to the service department to speak with the manager. He explained that they would make all necessary repairs and in the meantime would give us a loaner car. However, I would not be able to drive it out of the state. I explained I had a trip planned (the reason for getting my car serviced) and that I needed to use the car for that vehicle. He agreed to let me take the car on my trip. No one seemed to be apologetic to us; they just stated they would take care of it, as if they were doing us a favor. I was told it would be about 2 weeks before my vehicle was repaired. We attempted to contact the manager via email, to get something written as proof that they had caused damage to our vehicle. They simply refused to communicate with us via email and informed us they would not file an insurance claim and would just be paying out of pocket for the damage. We asked to go inspect the damage of the vehicle and take pictures while it was up on a lift. They agreed, so we went in and discussed with the manager what we expected to be repaired. After 2 weeks passed I called back and the service manager I had been working with was out on medical leave and the new person in his place had absolutely no idea about our situation or the status of our vehicle and never returned my phone calls. After leaving several messages, I finally was able to get someone to give me answers and was informed that our car had been sent back to the body shop because the work wasn't performed to their satisfaction (not very reassuring). About a week later I finally got my vehicle back and spoke with a manager about receiving a refund for the service that had landed us in all this trouble. He agreed and stated it would be a week before we could get in the mail. After inspecting the vehicle up on the lift, we noticed there was some work that had not been completed. We had them paint some areas that had been damaged by the car dragging on the ground when the tire fell off. They had also failed to replace the bumper applique that was present before.After speaking with the manager he informed us that we would need to bring the car back to have that done in 1 month, because the fresh paint was preventing the sticker from laying correctly when they tried to apply it. I said no problem, and scheduled to bring the car back at the beginning of July. In the meantime my tire pressure light came on one day, so I brought it in to have nitrogen put in. I was there for well over an hour as no one could figure out the location of my vehicle when I asked what the status was about 30 minutes into it. Someone said it went to detailing, someone said it was upfront. Turns out my keys had been sitting on his desk for the previous 45 minutes and no one even noticed. So I waited around for no reason. This location has such poor organization and communication skills. I returned in July to have the remaining work completed on the vehicle. I still hadn't received the refund in the mail, so I again asked the manager about the refund and he stated he would request it again and we would get it in about a week. They had my car one day and completed the service incorrectly. It was a simple bumper protection sticker and they placed it way too low for it to even serve its purpose. At this point I don't wish to have any service done at this location anymore, so I just took it the way it was and left. FINALLY after calling 3 more times I have received my refund in August. The original service was performed at the BEGINNING of May. Ridiculous. I will never have my vehicle serviced here again. read more

My whole experience with Tysinger was great and worth the drive from Virginia Beach. The pricing was great but even more important was the sales team focus on customer service. Never did I feel like I was being pressured by the team. I asked for more time to think through the offer and they obliged without the hint of annoyance. Instead they were accommodating and offered an overnight test-drive if I needed it. The team shows full respect for the customers time. Joe offered the option of completing paperwork the next day with less of a wait which was great. When their own finance staff was backed up Minu walked me across the parking lot to see Keita at Mercedes Benz who completed my finance paperwork. While not working with Demetrius he was a big help too when I needed to get the loan company's address for insurance information. Minu made sure the delivery experience was great and answered all questions and showed the basics before I left the lot. Overall the team is very open and is a great example of staff working together as a team to provide superb customer service. Without a doubt I happily recommend Tysinger Hyundai. read more

My husband and I placed a $500 deposit on a vehicle via credit card. When the vehicle arrived to the dealership and after we saw it, we decided not to buy the vehicle. We requested the refund be placed back to our credit card as agreed. One and a half week later, the credit still had not shown up. I phoned the finance manager who stated he got confirmation from the salesman and the receptionist that the refund was credited back to our credit card. Two weeks after that, we still did not see the refund. I called again and asked for proof of the refund and they stated it was never refunded back to us that they had 'dropped the ball'. He apologized and gave me 3 choices of how to handle it. We decided to have them process the refund and if the refund was not received by the time the credit card payment was due, that Tysinger would be accountable for any finance charges that incurred. He verbally agreed and I said I would put it in an email he could confirm back to. I wrote a very professional and accurate email and asked for his confirmation. The finance manager did not reply. He told me over the phone he was having technical issues with his email. He said he would be able to send an email from his phone but would not be able to reply to an email. So I requested another manager's email address for someone else to confirm responsibility to finance charges on my credit card and that manager did not confirm either. Several emails were ignored and the verbal agreement never got confirmed in writing. This company lacks integrity and professionalism. The company did not do as they said they would on more than one occasion with us. I would not recommend doing business with them. read more

I traded in a C300 for a C250 lease. While the purchase/finance was fine the rest was not. The car had a problem with the multimedia screen - it went blank. I took the car back. No one contacted me for 5 working days. I called them repeatedly and finally got someone to talk to me. Later one of the managers called. I returned the call twice. Nothing heard. I then finally got it touch with service and said they were working on it. Bob Rombs, a vp called and left a message. I called him back. 3 times. Spoke with his secretary. He never called again. Tysinger basically has a one call, leave a message , case closed attitude. I will never, ever deal with Tysinger again. I did finally get the car back and it was delivered dirty. Their service department is outstanding, so much so that I even take the car I didn't buy at Tysinger there for service. They treat you with respect and kindness and offer great value for the money. I recently bought a 2009 Land Rover 6 months ago. It only came with a 30 day warranty, which I was fine with. My check engine light came on and went off all in the same day a couple weeks ago, and then I had off a day, let it sit in my driveway, and tried to start it yesterday, and it wouldn't turn over. I had it towed to a local mechanics shop (I live in VAB), and they told me I needed an entirely new ALTERNATOR and battery. I wasn't too concerned on the battery issue, that happens. So when I called Tysinger, I spoke to Keith (General Manager) and he said he wants to "take care of his clients" and said I would need to bring in my car to have his mechanics look at it. I called the next morning to talk about an estimate and see how we could work something out, because there was no way in hell I was about to fork over $1350 for a car I bought off their lot 6 months ago, warranty or not. The woman working the service desk said her manager (AJ) told her to do some research and give me a call back. Hours later, no call. So i called back, and I had to leave AJ a voicemail. NO CALL BACK. I called again and left my name and number with someone else and then he once he finally called back, he told me his service department wouldn't fix my vehicle. AJ was nice, and explained to me in detail why and gave me advice on what to do, but other than that I wasted HOURS of my time when my car could have been fixed by another mechanic by now. Beyond angry. The customer service I received when buying my car was terrible too. Barry Garry laughed at me for trying to bargain with him after knowing I am a first time car buyer. HE LAUGHED. That doesn't make someone feel good when buying any car, and a new, nice car at that. I do NOT recommend them to anyone. I do NOT think Tysinger is a trustworthy company. Just made my first (and last) visit to Tysinger for service on a 2012 Mercedes SLK350 I bought certified pre-owned elsewhere earlier this year. I asked for an "A" service (I brought by own oil), a Virginia inspection sticker, and a check on a sticky panel in the roof retract mechanism. What I got was an "A" service plus wheel balancing and 4 wheel alignment for just over $200, neither which I asked for and neither of which is listed in the manual as part of the "A" service. And they did not use the Mobil 1 I brought, instead charged me for 9 quarts of their own (the system only holds 6.5 quarts). Oh and no inspection sticker and no check on the mis-aligned panel. I Googled a local Mercedes dealer in the area and contacted Tysinger, they were very responsive and agreed to have the car towed to their dealership that day. They were professional, prompt and informative ( text, email and phone calls) every step of the way through the completion of the repair. Successfully bought a used Hyundai Accent Hatchback several weeks ago. It came with no spare tire, only the styrofoam insert with a compressor and goo. During negotiation we asked for the spare tire kit to be included as part of the bidding process. We were assured it would be ordered and provided the following week as it was not in stock at the parts department that day After a week we had to call and ask again. Phone calls went back and forth sometimes with no message left. Finally got ahold of the salesman that said we had to pay for the spare tire kit at his price. This was never the deal and if that was the case few would have offered less for the car. We also would have been asked to pay for the special order part that day. Hopefully this will be made right this week. We fell for the "what will it take for us not to leave and look at other used cars at other dealerships." The salesmen claimed they get business by competing on price and providing great service. We will see if that is the case and if they will uphold their end of the deal. Might just take them to court just on principal. read more

Karone, our sales guy, was great. He was very nice and was patient with us, and after much back and forth over a couple different vehicles, he was ultimately able to get us a great deal on a brand new Hyundai. They gave us top dollar for our trade-in, they beat Checkered Flags "guaranteed lowest price" on the same vehicle by over a grand, and we are very happy customers. My only complaint is how long it took to deal with the "business manager" after we already spent the day with the salesman, agreed to buy the car, arranged insurance, and had the check in hand to pay for it. The extra 2+ hours of sales pitches and being pressured to finance through the dealership when we made it clear that we already had a check in hand were just annoying. We love our new car. I made an appointment today with an online sales rep, who was very polite and helpful. When I arrived for my 4pm appointment there was a gentleman walking up to our car before we could even park. He introduced himself, appeared to be professional, however, had NO record of my appointment or whom I was supposed to be seeing. He said it didn't matter, he could help us, so he led us to an office located inside the Hyundai dealership. He took all my information, and the keys to my trade, said he would be right back, than left my husband and I sitting there for over an hour! He didn't bother to update us or to even say anything, we could see him talking to his coworkers casually outside as if nothing was going on. It took me finding another sales person, for him to notice I was talking to someone else, than came back and casually said "so we could only do 6 for the trade, you're going to have to buy a new car to be able to offset the negative equity and unfortunately you don't seem interested in anything other than a used camry so I don't think I can help you." I felt as though I had literally just wasted two hours of my life. To add insult to injury, I knew I had negative equity walking in, and also knew my credit situation, I don't think it should have taken an hour and a half for him to tell me what I already knew, we had gone to Priority Toyota the night before, and the same process took 15 minutes. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. read more

I called the parts department and had asked about a battery terminal for my car, well I was given the information that was asked. Gary said I should come in and see the service department and see what needed to be done. So I went and was very pleased with them all from parts, to service. They helped me out and it only ended up costing me $4.00 compared to the 400+ was told might need to be done. One happy camper was there 20 mins and out the door I went. My first new car was a 2013 Elantra purchased in PA. However, all 3 years of maintenance have been done here at Tysinger Hyundai. This has been, hands down, the best dealership I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with for service appointments. This is primarily due to Mike S. - he is personable, knowledgeable, and professional; most importantly though, he has my trust. I have brought all 3 of my cars here (only one is a Hyundai) largely due to him. I will also say that their pricing is fair IMHO. I have a background in auto mechanics myself and have lived in several states across the US - Tysinger has set the bar VERY high for when I leave VA and need to find a new service center. read more

I wouldn't have given this place any stars but I was required to to write the review. Our family had taken one of our cars there. The location was convenient considering where we live. Our car started making a loud noise that sounded like there you were in a plane when speeding up. During one of our maintenance visits, we had inquired about it and was told by a man named Chris that it wasn't a safety issue (we were concerned because we just had a baby recently). We ignored it until the sound progressively worsened while other symptoms appeared. We called back and the man said he doesn't recall telling us that but he wouldn't be able to help us anyway until the following week. This was the third inquiry we've had about it and feel as if we always get the run around. We got a second opinion from another service center at a different dealership and it turns out there were several problems and that they didn't understand why Tysinger would say otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if their intent was for something more serious to happen so they can get more money from us. The service is terrible, people are rude, and they don't care about your safety or loyalty. We will never do business there again and will make sure others refrain from going there as well. (To add to my dissatisfaction, our car was covered under warranty but they've gotten hundreds from us which I thought was strange. This new dealership didn't even charge us for the damages because they ensured the warranty was still valid. I wouldn't even bother to go back and inquire on the previous jobs done because i'd rather not deal with the unprofessionalism again). read more

I recently bought a new car from a dealership in Virginia Beach, Checkered Flag, and had not even made the second payment when I experienced a complete failure of the tire while working at Fort Lee. I limped home on a "tiny" spare traveling at a speed not to exceed 50 MPH all the way to Newport News. The next morning I put in for annual leave and called the dealership to schedule an emergency replacement/repair of the tire, only to be told no appointments were available and that if I wanted to I could drive to Virginia Beach from Newport News on a Friday and wait to see if an appointment might become available. Unacceptable service response Checkered Flag on a first time call for emergency repair. Good service continues after you drive the car off the lot, not just when the sale is final. Tysinger is convenient to my home so I decided to give their service department a try as otherwise I would need to take off another day of work. They referred me to their "express" manager for just such emergencies, Jon Wallace was exceptionally responsive to my circumstances and we didn't even have a chance to look for a service technician, one walked up while we were standing by my car to volunteer his services. They were amazing; fixed the tire (new one), changed my oil, and washed and vacuumed the inside. All this from an emergency call placed from someone stranded who commutes 143 miles a day. While I was there I had Mr. Wallace transfer all my information and warranty to Tysinger for everyone of my future car needs. We own three others that are due for a trade-in and new car purchase. so let me update my experience, i did receive a call on june 2nd asking how my car was and i complained that i was still missing the floor mats and keys and my tire light was still coming on and i was told the service dept would call me right back and they did call within 15 minutes, they asked to me stop by on my way home from work and they repaired my tired and gave me my mates and keys, i will say i spoke with john in the service dept several times while waiting and he was the most polite and customer orientated person i have ever met, he apologized many times that i had a bad experience. while i was waiting the sales manager larry stopped by and also told me how sorry he was and gave me an oil change credit so at least they did take care of most of my complaints, they can not however repair the damage done buy the finance guy that was doing my paperwork, but i will say that those that could make things right did. read more
