    Duck in cherry sauce
    Steve G.

My world traveler friend called U Bulinu "the best meal he had in Prague", so expectations were sky high. Walking in surprised it was a pub and not a sit down restaurant, but OK, let's see what you got. Menu comes on clipboard with lots of items. Scanning them over, disappointed no beef short ribs, chose the duck breast and beef goulash instead. Duck breast was done in cherry sauce with mashed potatoes. Outstanding. The beef in goulash just melted, so tender no knife was needed. Comes with potato pancakes. Excellent. Had to try dessert so we had the pistachio creme brûlée and the iced coffee. Creme brûlée soft and sweet with just a hint of pistachio although you could tell they were there. Ice coffee came with ice cream and whipped cream like a root beer float. Both delicious. Service was excellent. English speaking, very nice and pleasant. All this for 800 ckz (around $32 US) are you kidding me? My world traveler friend has good taste. Excellent restaurant - a must visit when in Prague.

One of the better places i've eaten at in Prague and it's located conveniently around Vinohrady which was near my hotel. Not another tourist trap like everything else. Choose outside seating if weather permits.. English menu and english-speaking, friendly staff were not taken for granted Portions were good, the cucumber lemonade was to die for... especially on a hot summer day. I got a braised beef in cream sauce with potato pancakes (it was served with cranberry sauce too) - nothing new or outstanding but better quality than a lot of the other restaurants here in Prague.

Wowwww! So good food! I don't have words to say how good was this experience. Very good service, food on time. The food is really tasty. I had mushroom soup, and beef goulash. Give a chance to this typical Czech bar, you are not gona be disappointed! Excellent

I can't recommend this place enough! For one thing, I was in an adventurous mood. Instead of going with duck or pork belly--two meals I know I would have enjoyed--I went with the...rabbit. I knew I was taking a risk. But it was a risk I wanted to take, and it paid off. The meat was so succulent, like a more flavorful chicken. The beer was rich and hoppy. The atmosphere was both open and yet intimate. And the location can't be beat (in the neighborhood where many hostels are). Definitely come here for a good, cheap meal with friends!

Boiled sausage with capers and spicy mustard

We tried this place out on the recommendation of a close friend. She said the goulash was the best she'd ever had so I decided to try it out. We arrived and were immediately sat at a quaint two top in the middle of the restaurant. For being a Saturday afternoon it wasn't terribly busy, maybe 4 other tables. We ordered Pilsners and the venison pâté and boiled sausage for our starters. Surprisingly the venison pâté was phenomenal! It had pistachios in it and came with a cranberry sauce and bread. The boiled sausage came with spicy mustard and capers. The sausage was slightly undercooked for my liking. Sadly they were not featuring goulash on the menu when we were there so I opted for a beef roast entree instead. It came with carrots and potatoes and was filling. My husband ordered potato mushroom soup. We almost asked for the recipe for the soup because it was fricken awesome! If it were sociably acceptable I would've licked the bowl clean! The service was efficient and friendly. The staff were kind and presented us with English menus. Overall it was a great lunch in Prague. I would highly recommend the soup!!

Best meal we had in Prague in Sept 2012. Goulach was super tasty served in a bread bowl. The duck with dumplings was delicious as well. Ice cold beer, super friendly service and walking distance from our hotel. Will be back on the next trip to Prague. Super cheap too...best part of Prague after leaving Vienna was the cheap an tasty food and beer. Vienna was awesome and had tasty beer & food but was like twice the price.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood Czech restaurant, conveniently located in Praha 2! Came here for my birthday dinner and ordered the house specialties, including lamb leg, grilled duck breasts, and pork chops! All the meats were deliciously tender and has the hallmarks of Czech cuisine! Come here while in Prague! It will be a highlight of your trip!

Rabbit with lentils, not bad but not outstanding either. I regret not trying the duck.
    Kim T.

I had the rabbit with lentils, the lentils were cooked perfectly. The rabbit was prepared well, I was just not a fan of the texture. Not enough texture in my opinion. Service was accommodating and friendly though. I would come back, but try the duck next time.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.

It was a pleasant walk from the Hilton Atrium Hotel, and the weather was beautiful. We arrived and were immediately seated and brought menus. The decor is nothing special, and it spoke to a nice Czech restaurant vibe. Our server was very good, promptly returning to get our drink order (I had a glass of Chardonnay and we both had waters). We were not super hungry, so we bypassed the appetizer and salad selections and went straight for the entree menu. My wife chose the Goulash and I selected the Grilled Chicken Breast. Our meals arrived shortly, and they were both hot. My wife loved the Goulash, which was accompanied by two large potato dumpling pieces. The gravy was thick and flavorful and the meat was fork-tender and delicious. My Chicken was a bit tough, but had pretty good flavor with the sauce. It was also served with a side of Gnocchi, that paired nicely with the dish. The advertised cauliflower and peas were a bit sparse, but the Gnocchi made up for it. Service was very good, with our water glasses refilled frequently and servers asking if everything was good. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal, though the Chicken could have been a bit more tender. If we get back to Prague, we would definitely like to come back and try one of the Duck dishes as well as the goose liver pate' appetizer. Ambiance - 9/10 Service - 10/10 Food - 9/10 Value - 10/10
