DO NOT hire movers through U-Haul, any U-Haul!!!!! Worst experience ever and U-haul takes zero responsibility leaving you screwed. Booked City Move LLC through U-haul and this is what happened. The movers left in the middle of the job! Not only did they decide they were done and had to leave before unloading the truck, they only took 4 items out and left them on the street!!!!! I was shocked they left them on the street to be stolen! How could they not take the time to at least put those 4 items into my apartment or back into the truck? My coffee table and plant were stolen because of this. The other items I had to drag in myself. Meanwhile the movers PROMISED they would come back. They never came back! Not only that but they said they would call me to let me know what time they would come over to finish the job, but they ghosted me! Never called me and are not returning my calls or replying to my texts or emails! Because of all of this I have to sleep on the floor of an empty apartment tonight since everything is still in the Uhaul! I have to rent the U-Haul for a second day, take off MORE time from work to deal with and find and pay for new movers tomorrow?! This is outrageous. I am so completely furious at this horrendous service. I need to be refunded the total amount to make up for the stolen items, the extra time and aggravation and the fact that now I have to hire new movers to do the job they did not do! However U-Haul says not their fault and the company just ignores all emails and phone calls! Horrible. read more

Well, basically trying to get propane at this place is probably just not a good idea in my experience. It says seven days a week but twice we went in and there was no one there who could fill our propane. Then we went to the U-Haul at 4201 N I 35 and Kenny could not have been nicer... got us in and out of there in less than 3 minutes!! read more

I get my propane bottles filled here because you only pay for pounds you get not an empty bottle. They are usually quick and you can pay at pump once the tank is filled. They also have nice selection of packing materials. read more

I drove 30 minutes to fill up my propane tanks. They close at 7 PM. I showed up at 6:30 and a girl looked at me and she said no more propane tanks while she was filling somebody up. I highly recommend do not use this store, the staff is extremely rude. I'd find another location. read more

But when he asked the co-worker who then asked the manager if she would honor the price on the sticker, she plained refused. We planned on renting a moving truck for an out of state move that I priced out at $2,100 online. We walked out, decided to cancel the quoted truck rental and went elsewhere. Service is key. The parking lot is kinda small but it's easy to find. I needed boxes and the buy back program is awesome because you can buy what you think you need (get the bundle for the reduced pricing) and then just save your receipt and return what you did not end up using. Uhaul boxes are sturdy and they had this attached lid that helps with keeping the flaps out of the way. they have everything else you could possibly imagine when it comes to packing/moving. i should've bought the plastic cover for my mattress. i will next time! So i used 9 large boxes because i returned 6. This was just for my kitchen alone! It was a bundle of 15 large boxes for around $27, if that helps. Also the staff person brought it to my car and helped me load it. He did the same for the girl in the parking lot. He also broke down my other two boxes to make room for the bundle. Just horrible!!! So we made reservations to rent a cargo trailer. I have 2 rooms in my home that are full of donations and supplies ready to go to South Louisiana for the flood victims! I get to the U-Haul to pick up my trailer, I paid for it, paid for the protection plan then they refuse to let me take the trailer home so I can load all the supplies on it and be able to leave first thing in the morning!! I have no idea what happened!! My debit card has 3 different charges on it from U-Haul. I don't understand how that can be since their cargo trailer is not in my possession. I'm just so sad!! I have been on and off the phone with Uhaul for 4 days now about the wrong sized trailer showing up on my booking (Booked online for 6x12 and after checkout it showed I was booked for 4x8). I kept calling back but no available 6x12 till the middle of next week, fine I get it it's move in/out time of year. So we get there and this miracle worker named Marshall saved our move 10 fold. This man went above and beyond to fulfill our original request for a 6x12 trailer. Mind you we were 1 of 5 people being served today and Marshall was running around (actually running) busy as all hell accommodating everyone in the store/parking lot. I wish there was an option for 0 stars. TERRIBLE and unprofessional customer service. Screwed us over on our LAST DAY to move. We booked a truck online two weeks in advance. Got a confirmation email the day before and called to confirm our appointment 4 hours before pick up time and she told us we would be all set with a lock box for the key. We drove pretty far to pick up our truck and right as we pulled up, they called us to tell us that they were canceling our appointment. We have to be out of this house tomorrow and now we are absolutely screwed. I asked him if there was a way he could schedule us for another location or for tomorrow and he just told us to call customer service and hung up without providing a number or transferring. So we call again and they transfer us to customer service, which we wait on hold for 30 minutes. She tells me that it shows that WE canceled the appointment After talking to her for a long time she's finally able to get us an appointment for tomorrow. I asked if there was anything she can do price wise since we just spent $60 on gas to get the this appointment. She then tells us we have to speak to a different customer service and transfers us over. I've now been on hold with this side of customer service for over an hour. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is having this issue. My first time using U-Haul and will definitely be my last. do not rent from here. Or if you do, take your own detailed photos beforehand. I was just scammed by this place. I rented a Uhaul truck from here yesterday, upon picking up the truck, neither the employee present nor the manager on duty went outside to inspect the truck not gave me a vehicle inspection to fill out. I returned the truck on time. this morning I get a call that there were "damages" on the car, and $300 was charged on my debit card without my authorization. I attempted to call them back and was transferred 5 times and left on hold for 30 minutes for customer service to finally tell me what happened. NO ONE gave me any photos or proof of these damages, they I wasn't given ANY proof of damages, no photos, no vehicle inspection, no documents. Later I found out the part of the truck that was damaged was something me and my boyfriend noticed when we FIRST got the truck, we thanked god it wasn't raining because there was a hole in the truck. This is a clear example of lazy work by an employee and an unprofessional business. I don't know of any company that can just charge people $300 without any proof. Please take your business elsewhere and always take care of yourself first, I've never had anything like this happen to me. read more

I gotta admit the wait here is stupid. The reason? They have basically one guy working, this includes working the register, pulling out the trucks, hooking up the trailers, and returning truck rentals. So you might wait an hr before you are seen. So why the high ratings? Because yes even though it is one guy he does his job well. He was able to help us out with a uhaul truck, hooking up the car trailer, and even guiding the car onto the trailer and helping us secure it in place. He even took the time to help explain how to get the car off. Everything went smooth on our trip thanks to the guy working. read more

This U Haul location does not hire people who know basic math or really how to identify numbers at all. I was charged 60 additional miles on top of my 19 mile trip. In order to get this fixed I had to speak with 5 people overall on the phone and in person. If you're thinking of renting a truck try a location where they hire employees with at least a middle school education. read more

I rented a truck for 2 hours on 5/20/2022. I drove 14 miles (accurately shown on my receipt). I put 3 gallons of gas in the tank before returning the truck. When I got my receipt, I was charged for 9 more gallons of gas. After waiting in line at this shop the next day and querying the employee about the charges, I was told that there was absolutely nothing she could do. The bill is what it is. Rip off! I went into this establishment to get a box truck and getting the truck was no problem. When it came time to return the truck the store was packed, which I would think is good for business but with the demeanor of the employees I got the idea that they preferred the store to be empty. Once I got to the front of the line the associate that helped me was apparently new and the only other associate there was obviously tired of answering questions. There was a brief back and forth between the associates, which would make any customer uncomfortable, and the veteran associate was very aggressive and clearly irritated. Rented a trailer from here for a cross-country move. Entire process was going smoothly until we realized the brake light on the trailer wasn't lighting up. Turns out it was a loose grounding wire (my fault). Chris, who was working there that day, came out with his own tools and fuses in the middle of the rain and fixed it for me in the matter of minutes. NO Gentlemen's there!!! Went to buy some boxes. Bought about 30 of them. When I first arrived boy was outside cleaning a truck. He saw me drive in and I assumed he was going to come in once he was finished cleaning the truck. The boy Parked truck in area it was suppose to be and then he proceeded to start cleaning another truck. Meanwhile, I'm in the store waiting. I proceeded to get the boxes I needed put them by the door. A good 15 min if not more. I finally walk out of the store and then he comes asking what I need so he could ring it up. Than he sits and watches me walk back and forth to get all 30 boxes while I put them in the car. Any gentlemen would have offered to help. I come here often to fill up propane for my food truck. The guy with the beard always seems upset. He has no customer service skills. On this particular day he was filling propane bottles for the store about 20 bottles or so. I walked up with my bottle and he had 10 left he doesn't say a word to me like high or any acknowledgement that I am here, and proceeds to filling the stores bottles instead of helping me the customer who is giving his company money in-which to pay him. I found that the key I was given for the large van I had requested did not. I was then told that they did not have have a van in the size I requested. We arrived at this location without too much issues. The place was dimly lit when we entered the store. I guess they just hadn't turn on the lights yet, which was a tad bit unprofessional to be honest. The service that we received from the guy at the counter was subpar. Maybe because it was early in the morning on a Sat, but his entire demeanor was lethargic. We were having some problems with our reservation and his attitude did not show that he was at all interested in helping us out at all. I would not recommend coming to this location unless you have to. Reserved furniture pads and two dollys on the site along with our truck rental, but when we went to pick up the truck, there were no furniture pads available and only one dolly. We'd already packed all our linens, so it was a massive pain to have to unpack them and get them dirty to use as makeshift furniture pads. It's an inventory system, people. They've been around for awhile. Also, we specifically asked to charge the balance to a different card than the one the reservation was taken with. After getting assurance from Dwayne that we could do this once we dropped the truck off, the wrong card was charged, and Dwayne basically shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know what we were talking about when we brought it back. This location is awful. Don't trust anything they tell you, and make sure to have three backup plans just in case. read more

I rented a U-Haul truck for a move this past weekend, and experienced the worst service that I have had at U-Haul or any other car rental services. I placed my original order online for a 10' truck a week before the move. The day before the move, I received a call from U-Haul that the truck is no longer available and all I can get is a cargo van. This is disappointing but not too big of a deal, so I agreed. The next morning when I went to pick up the van, I was informed the pickup location is also changed. This was very irritating as I have just walked 25 min under the Austin sun, and do not have a easy way to get around. What made the experience even worse was that the U-Haul attendant whom I called was very rude and blamed me for missing his instructions about the location change the night before. While he may have said something about the location change the night before, the call quality was poor and I did not receive any email message to clarify the location change. Without better options, I took a taxi to the new location to pick up the cargo van. The same attendant was also rude and almost robotic in person, and ignored me when I tried to make some friendly conversation to ease the mood. The cargo van itself was pretty good, but he did not include a hand cart which I requested in my online order. After the move (which went pretty smoothly), I returned the van and noticed that I was charged $50 extra. This is because the attendants misread the odometer and charged me for an extra 100 miles! I brought this point to the attendants and changed my receipt to reflect the updated charges. However, when I checked my credit card statement today (Monday), it still showed the previous incorrect charge, PLUS the correct charge, PLUS ANOTHER charge for $70 that was APPLIED TO MY CARD TODAY! I called customer service to ask about the charges, and was told there's pending credit for the original overcharge, but no explanation for the $70 charge posted to my card today. I was also called a "Ma'am" (I'm a guy)... Overall, the entire experience was extremely frustrating and humiliating. I feel that the service representatives at this U-Haul did not have the least care about their customers or their jobs. I really hope someone will read this, either someone at U-Haul who can do something to improve their services, or someone who is renting a truck to avoid this place at all costs. read more

I rented a pickup truck to pull a food trailer to the health dept for its annual inspection. Reserved it the day before. Went to pick it up and they couldn't find the reservation. I end up getting the truck, but they're so busy that they can't go outside to "inspect" the truck, so I got the insurance, just incase. I did a quick walk around, but didn't notice anything that wasn't marked already. When I got to my house and put it in the shade, I noticed that the back bumper (chrome) had a pretty large dent in it. I showed some other people too (my ride to there, so they followed me back). I moved the trailer and went and set everything back up. When i went to take the truck back earlier, another guy checked it in outside and marked no new damage. The guy that rented the truck to me the day before rang me up. He started entering things, then said hold on a second. He went outside for literally a second, if that, not even close to the truck, and said there was bumper damage. He knew about it but didn't mark it the day before. I didn't have my contract with me and he said I didn't get insurance. I told him I did. He then found the insurance and I only had to pay just over forty bucks for the rental. I was super upset, since i really didn't damage the truck. Definitely glad I got the $10 insurance though! Shady people here. Be careful. read more

A truck rental and trailer hitch installation saga: I spent some time in your Lamar location recently. I was working with the staff there to have a trailer hitch installed so that the following week I could pick up a trailer I had also reserved from U Haul. For me, this was without a doubt the most interesting study in markets, customer service and individual buyer expectations I have had in over 40 years working in marketing and sales. First, I noticed in checking this rating service that you were only 1.5 stars out of five, and that there were some pretty violent and very negative reviews on this site. Still, I knew from previous experience that your pricing can't be beat for both trailer rentals and tow hitch installations ( As an Example: the dealer where I purchased my vehicle wanted over FIVE times what I finally paid with you for the same installation, and, they would not offer a lifetime warranty as you do ). Later I will let you know who this was and will let you go and see what kind of a rating I gave them ( it was NOT a very good review ). Back to your rating. What I noticed quickly was that the support your store is given from your corporate support groups was just plain awful. Your staff had to wait on line endlessly for answers ( watching me watch them ) re inventory etc. When they were finally called back on anything, the caller could NOT answer their questions. Same happened to me when I used the customer service call center and they: 1. lost my call twice, 2. scheduled an appointment without checking to see if a part had been received, 3. scheduled the appointment for a day we had not agreed that I could make, 4. forgot to order the part so and installation could not be done when I drove 35 miles to make my appointment, 5. Had the wrong delivery site and price for the trailer rental for the next week ( twice ). What I also noticed ( and U Haul corporate folks should factor this in to any service evaluation this store gets ), is that everyone coming in to this store has a problem. EVERYONE. They are poorly planned customers, they are always in a rush, they are all having money, moving, scheduling and coordination issues of their own, and they are so rushed that they OBVIOUSLY come to you MOST often as a last resort or an afterthought in what THEY view as YOUR emergency. Bottom line, NO ONE COULD PLEASE ANY OF THE PEOPLE I OBSERVED FOR JUST ONE AFTERNOON IN YOUR STORE. Your guys try, but it just might be that in their market and location you do what you can, that is all. Your guys tried, they remained cautious yet attentive, and they did all that they could while basically being handcuffed by their own service group and call center. Were they surly ? Only to the extent that they were focused and had little time for chit chat with a line and a schedule to deal with ( while also dealing with out of contol issues their customers had ). They were METHODICAL, they knew their rules, and they did in fact create service solutions while on the fly and while going about their scheduled business. I was amazed and impressed ( and I was there for almost six hours ). Normally I too would have been pushing and pacing, but as I watched it came clear that the issues were not those of your staff. Suffice it to say ( and from the rating I have given your staff, not necessarily your company ) I was pleased. Yes, I had to wait two days to complete the job, but I figured out immediately that it was not your staff's fault. The install was done in an expert fashion ( even though my vehicle was new to them ). The price was absolutely right, and I will go back next week to rent from them. Dwane has the patience of Job ( and is being treated like him at both ends all day long ). In the midst of ALL of this he was installing, training, answering questions, answering phones and questions while figuring out a new car and install track. Does he smile a lot ? Not until he's done. I can't say enough good about him. You are lucky to have him. On this firing line, most of us would last about 5 days doing and putting up what he does. Deserves a raise. Thanks Dwayne.
