For 20-plus years, Action Propane has filled our 500-gallon propane tank on a regular basis. We never ran low and took advantage of the "keep full pricing". The driver learned our difficult driveway and the best way to approach the tank without walking through our native garden. The office staff has always been friendly and helpful. A few years ago this place was great. So what happened? They are more then happy to top up your propane tank and charge you full price as though it is empty, but to make it worse the lady at the counter is very rude and will not listen, if that's not bad enough don't evan look at the little dog in the store. I started to reach down to pet it and it nipped at me. The rude counter lady said casually, "Don't touch the dog!" Another customer came in and the dog may have bit him. Expensive grill and propane parts to complement the mix. I filled propane at the Tractor supply across the street and the guy behind me had the very same experience and that is why he was here filling. At least their employee was very slow and put out. EXTREMELY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE - STAY AWAY!!!! Older fella with gray beard extremely rude for no reason! I walked in right before 4pm, unaware it was closing time. Asked about a ceramic grill part, and fella very rudely responded "well you can't expect us to walk to warehouse we're about to close." I have used Action Propane for 24 years. They provide great service. Today, on a Saturday, we ran out of propane. We used more this year than normal. I called the office and they had a truck out to fill the tank in less than one hour. read more

They've all been there sooo long, they are burnt - out and just don't know any better. This is a good local business that deserves local support. As the name implies, they do have propane gas for you home and your gas grill. The business is locally owned and has been in the same spot for a long time. If you are into serious grilling, you will definitely appreciate their inventory of every kind of gas cooking equipment. In addition to ready to cook grills, they have an extensive inventory of parts for all gas grills and can also give advice on repairs. Been here once and the experience was favorable. They sell propane and other stuff such as heaters, tanks and other items. Brought 2 takes to get them filled... A 20# tank - $14 to fill A 30# tank - $20 to fill The guy filling them was nice and efficient. Be aware that if you have a partially weighted tank they will still charge you the normal fill price. So don't come with a 1/2 filled tank. Make sure it's close to empty. They actually fill the tank with 20# of propane. Most exchange places charge you $15-18 for an exchange but the tanks have 15#. Thus those exchange tanks are effectively saving 1 gallon of propane or 4.2#. Just a FYI, there is about 91,500 per gallon of propane which weights 4.2#. A 20# tank will have about 4.7 gallons of propane in it; thus about 430k BTU. refilling is better if you live close to a place that refills. Plus you get to keep your tank. read more

This is a good place if you need your propane bottles refilled. I highly recommend you use this place instead of buying the exchanges at the big box stores. Here they actually fill them with 20 pounds of propane, the ones that you exchange are only 15 pounds. The man working the counter counter was very nice, and it took the less than 10 minutes to fill my 3 propane bottles. It was also cheaper than the big box store, so it's a win-win. I got here before 6 and they already locked the door. This company won my business -forever. Propane tank was down to 1% with 3 days of cold weather in the forecast. Called on a Saturday morning, talked to 3 different people in the office, all very pleasant and knowledgeable. Set up a new account with them, they apologized they couldn't get to me until Monday. The driver showed up on Saturday afternoon, saved my family two or three days of cold! Driver was really pleasant and customer focused as well! I've been a customer for 6 years. I've got two 500 gallon tanks that are regularly filled with my payment on autopay. I'd consider that an ideal client. The recent winter storm hits and I can't get anyone to return my emails, and the office phone just rings with no answering service or machine. Everyone is taxed right now with the weather, and I certainly don't expect large trucks to be operating in the ice, but to not have some sort of answering service or way to respond to long time clients in a time of need is absurd. Very disappointed to say the least. Up until now I would have praised this company. I'm looking for a replacement service now. read more

I was calling around for pricing which I always do. The owner gave a price and when I called back to buy I was told they weren't doing new sales unless your on their auto fill service. I said, I like to control my refills and asked why? I was fed something about a regulation that they have to inspect the house and tank of all new customers. I called Action Propane and explained what I needed. They told me they had it and how to get there. They had it. I went there and a very knowledgeable man helped me out. I was trying to connect my gas grill to my new house that has propane gas. I first went to Lowe's where a sales rep sold me a hose that SHOULD work perfectly. Neither end fit right. I went back to Lowe's and they said they didn't have the correct hose, but they had some fittings that they said would work. THEY DID NOT. They recommended a particular plumbing supply house, and it turns out they didn't have the right fittings either. Then I called other supply houses and service companies that all said they didn't have the right hose nor fittings. Then somebody finally suggested ACTION PROPANE. I went to Action and the experienced rep showed me the hose I needed and the fitting for each end. He also told me how to attach each end so it wouldn't leak. I did exactly what he said and it all worked the first time. No leaks!! Kudos to Action Propane. They get at least 5 stars in my book. read more

I have been using Action Propane for 5 years on the auti-fill program. Last night I smelled gas, found the line to the pressure regulator leaking. I called the afterhour number (7pm) and Rick dropped everything, drove to Leander to pick up the new line, drove to Lakeway and installed the new line in a matter of minutes. When Austin really needed them they weren't there. Called for two weeks prior to the storm that I was almost out. Called every other day. They never delivered to me or my neighbors. I've used Action Propane for over 20 years, and they are very reliable and courteous. So what prompted me to write a review today? Running out of gas on a Sunday! I am on their automatic delivery service which does take cold weather into account, but between house guests and repair people leaving windows and doors open we must have had even more demand than the recent cold snap caused. I called their normal number, left a message, and within an hour had a call back from Wanda (who apologized for the delay but said she checked her messages as soon as she got home from church). The delivery truck is on its way, and the service man will also check all pilot lights and make sure the heat, hot water, stove are functioning properly before he leaves. I could not imagine better customer service. Update: Robert from Action Propane arrived within the promised time window and just left. All is working well, as promised! read more
