The store I chose was the most expensive but I was willing to pay because they were giving me an appointment quickly... so i thought. (7 days later). Big mistake. They cancelled a few hours before the appointment leaving a msg on my phone box. Said they didn't have the cabling. Had to call them again and again a few days later. Finally got someone on the phone. They said they would order the part and call me back in a few days. They never did so I had to call back again. It went on and on and on like that for a whole month. At some point they left a message to let me know they had received the part. They just couldn't giving another appointment. Every time they said they would call me back to give me an appointment: they never did. One day I called 7 times and just couldn't talk to anyone. If they answer; they put you on hold and never ever take the phone back. Don't waste your time waiting: if they don't pick up right away they will never. I went there and saw the staff do just that to someone who called as I was there waiting in line. At that point all I wanted was to cancel the whole thing. They pretended they couldn't do anything because they needed the manager password to access the computer system. They suggested I should come back some other day. Ridiculous biz. Understaff. Obviously badly run business. They absolutely don't care about their customers. Tried to call a few times again without any success, sent emails. No reply, no answer. Tried to call the 1-800 number because I thought the main office would take things in hands... same result. You can't reach them. I had to take this to my credit card issuer to get a refund. Never, ever will I do business with any uhaul concession. I ordered a better hitch from the internet including cabling which they pretend was sooooo hard to find and "backorder". Both were delivered and in my hands within 3 days. Called "Attaches Montreal in St-Leonard", they gave me and appointment right there and the hitch was installed on my car 2 hours later. Great and polite service. Don't waste your time with uhaul.

They don't tell you, but there is a $20 charge for "AFTER HOUR SERVICE". "It's written in the contract" they say... This is an abusive charge. The staff were incredibly unhelpful and rude. After paying almost $500 a month for almost two years, I as a single mother, living in another province, moved my things out, however had to dispose of a few items (one double mattress and a Queen mattress) as I did not have the room or finances to take them with me. I asked Despina for assistance as I was unsure what I should do with these mattresses. She advised me that I would have to take them to the curb at a residential location so that the city could pick them up. After explaining that a) I don't have a residence in the city and b) the city pick up isn't for another few weeks. She simply repeated herself. Although I attempted to donate my mattresses, there was no organization willing to take mattresses as per their policies. In the end, I had to leave these mattresses behind. I ensured that they were in the GARBAGE BIN located on the premises. I was unable to lift the Queen size mattress into the bin, so I placed this one beside the bin. As I live in another province and had to return, this solution made the most sense and was my only option. The following day, Despina called me angry saying I was 'caught on camera' using their GARBAGE bin and that I will now be charged if the items weren't removed by 5pm. I was told I had to remove the mattress placed by the bin and the mattress placed IN the GARBAGE bin. At this point I had driven back to my home province and explained that I placed them in the only logical place I could access... THE GARBAGE BIN. I also explained that I was provinces away and couldn't do as she asked. Well, too bad for me; she was going to charge me regardless. Despina did not care. As I couldn't afford to be charged, which I explained to her, she continued to repeat herself. 5 pm was my deadline to remove the items from THE GARBAGE BIN. I contacted the only person I could (a 19 year old former student of mine living in Montreal) who went to the unit to remove my items. When they arrived, the entire situation changed. It was now " if you can cut the mattress, we'll throw it in the bin FOR YOU, NO PROBLEM" When they agreed, they were told by Despina " oh but you can't do it today. You have to come back tomorrow" So much for my 5pm deadline where I was going to be charged. They went back the following day, cut the mattress and placed it in the SAME BIN THAT I WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED FOR PUTTING ITEMS IN. I was a customer who never missed a payment, didn't cause any problems, and the way I was treated was terrible. I even asked Despina for an ounce of empathy. There was none. This business is a business I realize, but if you want any kind or humane treatment, this is not the storage place for you. If you have ANY hiccups like I did, this is NOT the place for you. GO ELSEWHERE.
