We worked with bust a move 3 times. The first two times were great. The last time was a flaming dumpster fire. They lost some of our valuables, sent some stuff to the wrong city, and took ZERO responsibility. To call it a dispointment would be an understatement. Bust a Move Moving Company lost my fine china set, something deeply sentimental to me, and also misdirected several of my belongings to another city. Mistakes can happen, but what has made this especially difficult is the lack of acknowledgment or follow-up from the company. There has been no real effort to take responsibility or make things right. Losing meaningful possessions is hard enough without feeling ignored afterward. It was barely acceptable but no more (most movers were doing another move after mine and had done one before) and the one in charge kept on trying to push another mover on me (more expense) already had 3. long - 7 hours and expensive - $3305.72 later. I am disappointed and I have had better from companies that are not as well known. I moved on June 30, 2024 within the same city Lachine and to a building with an elevator. We moved a lot ourselves and I had the help of my 2 cousins, my sister, neice, my brother in law and I. It was no a Terry Dimonte kind of move for I am not a personality. My TV table was broken in the corner, the skirt of my dishwasher was ripped off, a teak kitchen trolley had a side ripped off (still have not found it) , dividers were scratched and those are only the things I found after I had fully unpacked and I am still finding things. read more

I felt compelled to write a review about this business, it surely isn't as exciting as a new restaurant or bar but at the end of the day it's also way more crucial. This is my 4th time moving in my short life and like many of other people I have some moving horror stories to tell. This time around I decided I was going to do some heavy searching before making my final decision. Like pretty much everyone else, I called the big names first and had discussion with many patronizing men calling me "ma p'tite madame" and putting pressure on me to book my move for July 1st at the now very low rate of &240-260/hour. "La p'tite madame" thought it was very expensive and simply couldn't afford it. To top it all off, I couldn't bring myself to think how terrible the customer service would get if they were already so pushy and I hadn't book anything yet. (Like many other women, the last thing I wanna be called is a "p'tite madame"). I found Bust a Move moving on google. Simple as that! I visited their FB page and saw that one of my university colleagues liked their page. I used their website to get a quote and everything fell into places from there! I'm not going to lie, I was a tad unsure at first since the company didn't have a vastly known name. Boy was I in for a surprise!! The team was very professional; clean uniforms, clean personnel, polite, and smiling. A real contract with all the clauses was presented to me to explain insurance, the team leader even went trough it with me to make sure I fully understood! They set little rugs to protect the floors from getting dirty and started the heavy lifting! All my furniture was nicely wrapped and protected by blankets in their clean truck. (The OCD cleaner in me was happy). They had all the power tools to unscrew some of my bigger furniture(my bed, I was too lazy to remove the legs) and they screwed it back up in my new apartment. I never had such a stress-free/hassle-free move!!! I simply couldn't believe it! The boyfriend and I even offered them croissants and they wouldn't have them until they were completely done. I was really disappointed with Bust-a-Move. The full extent did not become clear until we had fully unpacked and saw everything that had been moved and its new condition. Avoid these guys _unless_ you like: - your things unprofessionally packed. - your delicate items wrapped with one piece of paper. (Vintage computer stuffed into a box too small for it with exactly one piece of piece of paper for padding - no joke!) - a LOT of your belongings broken during the move - boneheaded moves like them wrapping 7 of your dining chairs in blankets and just throwing one in the truck w/o wrapping it. (I'm sure you can guess which one got damaged... pulls in the wool fabric!) - having them bring the wrong-size truck - having to pay 2x the estimate they gave after coming to your house to look over your belongings. (their tagline of: on time on budget... not even close) - having to help the movers for the last 4 hours so everyone could go home before midnight (even though they started at 8am!) Well, I've been trying to get started on this review for over a month now, because I didn't want to parrot all the other 5-star reviews, but it's all true (the good comments anyway). My team, Michael, Adriano and Antoine were the most courteous, congenial and respectful crew of movers I have ever encountered. This makes me think it "comes from the top" since it seems to be a common trait, according to all those other reviews. Because they packed my stuff the day before themselves, they knew where to put the boxes in the new place. They could think on their feet and make logical decisions. The most I ever got from other movers in the past was dumping everything in the middle of the apartment and a "See ya later". My guys placed boxes near to or in the appropriate rooms and the process of listing everything in the labeled boxes as they went along was such a help for unpacking. Moving when you're older can be a fearsome and taxing experience, but Bust A Move saved my bacon and I am very grateful. Best movers I've ever hired. read more

Had the absolute worst moving experience of my life with Bust-A-Move. What should have been the easiest and simplest move turned out to be the most frustrating and expensive (for amount of stuff and distance moved). Because I moved most of my belongings on my own, Bust-A-Move only had to move my furniture (from a 1 BR apt) and a few containers out of storage into my new apartment. Both buildings had elevators and the moving distance was less than 2 km. For those of you who are curious and don't have time to read the rest of my review, the move took a total of 6.25 hours and cost me more than $2000 ($1873 + tip). When I made moving arrangements with Bust-A-Move, I agreed to a 3-person team. Instead, I was sent a 2-person team (and charged more per mover) because the initially assigned team's first move of the day was taking longer than expected. While I understand that not all moves go as planned and Bust-A-Move did their best to allow my move to proceed as planned, what happened next was totally within their control. About an hour into the move, the lead mover asked me if I have a toolkit. Apparently, the team didn't bring one with them, and like all moves, they needed a toolkit to dismantle some of my furniture (bed frame; dining table; sofa). Of course, I didn't have one because my apartment was empty with the exception of furniture. The movers then had to call the moving company to have one sent over, which took another 45 minutes. While waiting for the toolkit, the movers disappeared (for at least 30 minutes), and I didn't see them again until the toolkit arrived. They didn't start dismantling my furniture until two hours into the move! In addition, I WAS CHARGED FOR EVERY SINGLE MINUTE that the movers were waiting for the toolkit to arrive. Though I am willing to forgive Bust-A-Move for sending a team of 2 instead of 3, I found the company's lack of preparedness, i.e., not bringing a toolkit with them, ridiculous and disturbing because it unnecessarily caused the move to take longer and cost significantly more than it should have. How could a moving company send movers to do a move without a toolkit? This still baffles me to this day. While a number of other things happened, for which I will spare you the details, the worst part of this entire experience was John, the owner of Bust-A-Move. You would think that, at a bare minimum, he would apologize for his team showing up without a toolkit and give me a discount on the move. Of course, he did no such thing and instead got angrier with me as the move went on. Once again, I will spare you the details. I have moved more than a dozen times in my life. I have done local moves, inter-state moves (I'm from the US), cross-country moves, and international moves. I know how long moves should last and this move should not have taken 6.25 hours. At most, it should have lasted 3 to 3.5 hours. In fact, when I arranged the move with Bust-A-Move, the person I spoke with estimated that it would take 2 hours since I would be moving most of my belongings on my own. Furthermore, because I was sent a team of 2 instead of 3, I ended up getting charged more per mover. Given that I had agreed to a team of 3, I should have been charged the same rate per person. Instead, I was charged $34 more per hour for the same amount of work output. FYI, their rate is $250 per hour for 3 movers and $200 per hour for 2 movers. To make matters worse, I never received the follow-up call that I was told I would receive approximately one week after the move. It's been almost 2 months since I moved so it's become clear to me that they won't be following up. This lack of follow-up proves beyond a doubt that management doesn't care about their clients and is not seeking to improve their services. For those of you considering Bust-A-Move, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. This company, especially its owner, lacks professionalism, provides extremely poor customer service, and will seriously overcharge you. read more

Bust a Move is TOP NOTCH! I was very pleased with the service and professionalism of the entire team, from the quote preparation to scheduling and of course, with the actual move itself! Kevin and his crew were very attentive and took great care with our belongings. My wife and I were impressed with their efficiency-- what a great group of smart young men! The fridge was just a bit too big for the door, no problem-- the door was removed with ultimate care. Best part, they measured EVERYTHING... which seems obvious until you don't do it! In fact, our fridge was extra tricky because the hinges were blocking the passage and so Kevin quickly dismantled them and reassembled it all (correctly) once we got to the new home. When I did have questions after the move, I called the emergency number (on a Sunday) and I was answered quickly. Not that it is the focus, but it was very reassuring to know that the Bust a Move team was available to the very end! Thank you! read more

We just moved my mom from downtown to mile end. She isn't physically strong right now and so we asked for their help packing and unpacking. Life was greatly simplified by their efficient and cleanly service. They were polite and really I just think I liked them as people. There was the joker, the pretty guy, the shy boy with dreams, the curious newbie, and the older brother. They were all decent humans and I was very happy to have them handle my mom's stuff. I was really impressed with their careful packing. Nothing broken and very little "what was that sound" feeling during the whole process. An older lady in the elevator at the destination praised their service and said she wished she had used them instead of another company whose name starts with a C I think. Someone else on RC asked the name of their company. The maintenance guy at my mom's old place was even impressed. I will 100% suggest them next time someone asks. I don't know anything about professional movers, but they did it perfect so.. that seems unusually smooth for anything. I heard the company started as a class project at Concordia. I don't know if it's true but the company's name is such a business class project name! It's so cheesy it hurts, but it's kinda perfect in that way also. read more

We hired Bust A Move on March 05, '19 to move my mother from our home, to a résidence. As she was already stressed by the change, we needed this to go as smoothly as possible. BAM showed up early (YAAY). Brian, Dominic & Carl were polite, friendly, professional & well-organized. They got to work immediately, moving quickly, but, carefully. Not an item was scratched, lost, forgotten, or damaged. When it was time to pay, we were charged exactly as detailed in the agreement. I have worked with many different movers over the years. Moving is right up there with getting a root canal in my books, so I was dreading moving yet again. I called around to a few places and given that this was a very short distance and not a big move; I was shocked by what people were quoting me. Just when I was about to give up and somehow try to do it myself, I stumbled upon a link for Bust a Move. Jon got back to me with a quote by the end of that day and we were all set to go. Jon and Perry showed up on time and were true professionals. They disassembled what they needed to and got everything, even my massive, heavy and cumbersome mirror into my new place sans incident and with zero breakage of even one glass or plate. I didn't know what to expect as this was my first experience with hired movers. But my wife and I were very impressed with the crew of men we got from Bust a Move. It was a crew of three men (Jamal, Ahmed, and Mason) who are football players for Concordia university. They worked efficiently, took good care of things, were well built to be able to move heavy items, and were respectful and courteous. It was my first time hiring movers. I was skeptical of many other companies but once I read all the positive reviews for Bust a Move, I just went for it. I was 100% satisfied. It took 3 movers 5 hours to complete my move from Park Extension to Rosemount/St Leonard. Both places were on the second floor. The online quote was exactly on point. The movers were friendly and professional. All of our stuff was cared for and wrapped. The only (small) incident was a broken light fixture in the condo building. Based on the overwhelmingly positive yelp reviews I hired Bust a Move for a local move. The guys are all very friendly, personable and sincere. But our move was terrible. After visiting my apartment one of the co-owners of the company gave me an estimate for a 6 hour move. It ended up taking 13.5 hours. The 4 hour estimate for packing was similarly *way* off the mark. During the move, the team made some poor choices that resulted in a lot of our furniture getting broken. A 1960's teak cado cabinet. The glass on a framed photo. A tear in the upholstery of our 1960's chair. A broken shelf. Lost screws on the dining table and coffee table. A broken shelving unit. A broken solid teak side board. Miraculously the Ikea furniture arrived unscathed. The company repaired all this furniture even though I only picked the basic insurance option, although I was led to believe that with the basic insurance minor repairs were included (that should have been a warning sign in retrospect). Also the company reimbursed be for 3.5 hours because the estimate for the move was so highly inaccurate. I wouldn't have written this review except we just discovered a broken end table, and that's the last straw. Our move may have been an anomaly, but the 5 star ratings here suggest that these guys do not screw up and trust me, they do. If you go with this company then here's my advice: Make sure you get accurate estimate. Supervise your move closely and make sure all your furniture is wrapped. Explain the value of your items to the movers. Don't let them dismantle items that should not be dismantled. Collect all the screws from dismantled furniture yourself. Make sure the movers use all the straps in the truck to tighten down your furniture. Move your prized possessions yourself. Pay the $79 for better insurance. Maybe then they won't bust up your move. read more

The truck and blankets they used looked very clean and the movers even had uniforms. The head mover took a lot of care to wrap everything up while the other two moved everything onto the truck. Strongly recommend Bust a Move to anyone looking for a stress free move. They moved me on a cold winter day and it couldn't have gone smoother.
