U-HAUL @ KIRKLAND Parking was available but small and was in a vertical angle to get into. There are two entrances but i'd recommend the side next to 76/ on the way to costco, avoid 85th street because you won't be able to park correctly. The refill for our gas tank took about 10 minutes, easy, and the service was nice. Oddly they don't take cash, they take your literal CARD INFORMATION, as in you type in your card number, CVV, and expiration date on a work phone. The guy said it would be erased right after, no other choice of payment. Pretty odd. Overall, good experience and was $7.28 total for a 1.5 refill in our tank. read more

Do not use this location. If you have to, carefully check your receipt after your move. Drove the truck 11 miles. I put 2 gallons of gas in it so that the gauge read more than when I picked it up. Looked at my receipt when I got it, and they had charged $23 for 4 gallons ($5.75/gallon) for the trip, even though, as I said before, I had refueled it before returning. So, they were claiming, in addition to the 2 gallons I put in, the van needed 4 more, so 6 gallons to drive 11 miles. That's some awesome gas mileage (less than 2 miles/gallon). Clearly, they were misquoting the return value to inflate the charges. If you are, by some unfortunate set of circumstances, forced to use them, please go over your receipt with a fine-toothed comb, and if you find an error, contact corporate to fix it, since you can't trust the location. Corporate will reverse the charge, but that's it. TLDR - They will overcharge you, use someone else! read more

I've rented from here probably a dozen times and always had a great experience. U-Haul has the best/cheapest boxes and super reasonable prices on rentals, and the employees are always great and helpful. On the rare occasion that they're busy, they're usually working fast to get everyone taken care of and I wouldn't ever fault anyone for that because it's rough being down people at any job. Tip: if you see a long line, get in line but also get on the app and start a rental. It'll usually be faster to do the rental on the app. Then once you're done on the app you can skip the line and just grab your keys. read more

The office/store always smells like cigarette smoke which makes the experience a bit worse. The equipment was phenomenal though! It's very rare that I rent a truck that's this clean and modern and such. Truck drove and handled like a dream! The stairs built into the backside of the bed were very helpful for getting in and out of the bed. The self return site was NOT very user friendly. The picture taking and odometer entry verification sections were the least user friendly parts. At first the odometer kept including the placeholder zeros which initially charged me for driving 3,760 miles instead of the 78 I actually drove... Tip: if this happens to you, ignore the zeros and enter your odometer reading then move the cursor to just behind the last zeros and then you can finally delete them and be billed correctly! Pricing varies WILDLY within a hyper-local area! Kirkland Way Storage was $57.95 for 24 hts where as Kirkland U-Haul a mile up the road was nearly 50% cheaper!!! at $31.95! That's absurd! I only accidentally discovered this when I clicked the wrong location to restart my reservation online. read more

Absolutely worse Uhaul experience! I'm guessing Ken (old man) is the manager or possible owner, is ridiculously rude and impersonal. He charged us for dropping off a trailer early, and said that we weren't allowed to drop it off after hours although Uhauls customer service confirmed, (which I have a picture of) that it was allowed at this location. I will never rent from this location again, and I encourage all to avoid it as well. read more

App pickup process errored multiple times and took and extra half an hour, then their system was down when I dropped off to this location. PRICE GOUGING with-out a posted price! Wow. This is about the propane gas service. It used to be the go-to spot to fill propane tanks and was less expensive to refill than to do a 'tank exchange.' Sunday - I found that the price per gallon is 3x higher here than the national average! At $6.15 per gallon!!! (national average is in the $2 range) AFTER I had already filled, two tanks I had total sticker shock and price gouging at $64 to fill two 5 gallon tanks! One can exchange tanks with Blue Rhino for LESS - faster / easier. SKIP THIS U-HAUL LOCATION - THEY ARE PRICE GOUGING ON EVERY LITTLE ITEM. read more

Luckily I was able to make it to the Lake Hills Chevron, a different Bellevue U-Haul location, where a staff member named James was very professional and compassionate and able to get me squared away. Five stars for James specifically, zero stars for everyone else at U-Haul that I had to interact with today. ***Original review below: HORRENDOUS experience with this U-Haul location this weekend in advance of my move. I woke up to a message from a U-Haul rep that the moving van I had reserved (about a week and a half ago!) first thing in the morning tomorrow was no longer available "because a lot of people are moving this weekend" and they could offer me a van at 2:30 pm, six hours after I had originally booked it. Well. When you have a moving crew in place for 10 am, that's not going to work! I explained this to the U-Haul person, and there was apparently nothing she could do for me except offer a truck (which I did not reserve, and should be cheaper than the van considering it's not what I wanted/reserved...) in the morning, the van at a highly inappropriate afternoon time given that my move crew has been booked for 10 am, or evening pickup of a van today at the Bellevue location. I opted for this last option, very unhappily so, and will certainly be following up with U-Haul's customer service to see if they can retroactively compensate me for their negligence. As a medical student with at least three moves in the next ten years (for residency, fellowship, and my first post-training job), U-Haul should be a lot more mindful about keeping my business. But apparently they are powerless to discount my price when it's THEIR error, or even escalate the phone call to someone higher than a store manager. When I was on hold with the U-Haul rep, I had to listen to this recording of someone saying "U-Haul makes moving easy!" Not so for me. Not this time around. Wow this location has two stars. Not even surprised. I had the most awful experience today. The guy was super rude to me when I went to pick up my online order. I asked him to please put my boxes in the trunk since they were too heavy for me to pick up myself. He ignored me and left them at the door. I had to go to the back door to call him to come back to put them in my trunk. He begrudgingly did so, with attitude. This wasn't the first time I tried buying packing stuff form this location and been met with terrible service. They also have inventory issues. Last week I purchased a bunch of boxes from online and showed up to find that they didn't have any of it in stock. Had to get a refund. read more

This is a small location, and the crew often seems short staffed, but I've been impressed on two seperate occasions with the service prepping my Outback to tow! Don't use U-Haul: reservations are "preference". I made a reservation 2 months in advance and 1.5 days before my move date, they called me to say there were no trucks in the Seattle area and I had to drive 120+ miles to pick one up. This is fair game according to their policies and they refuse to provide fair compensation. Calling 1.5 days before the move date is downright predatory. A good faith approach would have been to tell me at least a month in advance, if not prevent the reservation altogether. This isn't even an exceptional scenario - they take advantage of their customers like this all the time. It's built into their policy. read more

About $50 to rent a 10 foot truck with 15 miles. Booked a reservation online for a truck, and as soon as I arrived, it was ready to go. I am pretty sure from start to finish, it was a 5 minute transaction. The staff member was super helpful and efficient. As soon as everything was paid for, the U-Haul was just being pulled up by someone else for my use. I was really impressed by the whole interaction at this location... Better u-haul place than others I've been to. I've been to other u-haul places where they didn't have a queue of vehicles as backups for your reservation, so you end up waiting for a call for when the previous renter gets around to turning it in... But at this place it's RARE for them NOT to have a vehicle available for walk-ins let alone for reservations. Plus, every time I've rented they went above and beyond to warn me that parking my car in their neighbor's lot (Outback Steakhouse) would get it towed. Totally something they don't have to tell people, but it's WAY cool that they do! read more

I long ago stopped renting from them - the office is cramped and grubby, the vehicles are usually dirty, and the rotating cast of employees are seldom welcoming. The only reason I'd ever drop by was to get a propane tank refill. But now they've decided that, even though the office opens at 8am on the weekend, they won't refill tanks until 11. Skip this business. There's another, much nicer U-Haul rental office a half-mile west. For propane, head a few minutes up the freeway to Totem Lake. read more

WHAT A DISASTER! Unsafe and unprofessional! If I could give 0 stars I would. I had hitch wiring installed here and a few months later, it had to be ripped out because they had used a part that wasn't compatible with my car, didn't wire it properly and was burnt to a crisp. The shop said it was moments from an electrical fire and they were shocked a professional establishment had installed it. I called U-Haul and got the worst run around for 3 weeks, I had to call multiple times before I finally got the direct number to the general manager, and that was after it had been "documented" that he has talked to me and resolved the issue!? Yet we had never spoken..... Anyway, I finally spoke with him and he said he would call me back and then never did. I had to call AGAIN and he tells me the original appointment was cancelled and couldn't be found so no one bothered to follow up with me. He then said he was really busy and set his phone down and never came back to it. I've since located the receipt myself in my email and texted him with the transaction of the payment and contract and of course no response. Now I have to waste more hours of my life talking to the regional office about this nonsense. Don't waste your time! Go somewhere else! read more

Rented a 10' truck on 11/23. The service was good and the truck was ok. The driver side door didn't close correctly and there was a strong odor. During transit I received a call saying I needed to change the drop off location, adding another 30 miles. I told them it wasn't possible so they threw in an extra free day - so I could return to the original drop-off destination. Two days later I received an invoice for the extra day. 3 phone calls later with U-haul, still no resolution. I'm currently disputing with my credit card company. read more

I really hate leaving a poor review for anyone, because I've worked customer service jobs before and know how soul-sucking they can be. Similar to another reviewer, most of my problems were caused by the online reservation service as well as the phone call service. It really does seem like there is a lack of communication between them and the actual stores. We needed to install a hitch on our minivan for a bike mount. After doing some research, my husband decided that U-Haul had the best price. The online reservation process went very smoothly (or so I thought) -- I put in my vehicle info, and it told me what part I needed and let me select my preferred date and location for the installation. There was also a $10 discount for booking online. The part was in stock at the Kirkland store, so I selected the next day (August 6th). My confirmation email said to expect a call back from the Kirkland U-Haul to schedule an actual time. August 6th came and went, and I received no call. On August 7th, I tried calling them and was connected to the call center. A very friendly representative took my message and assured me I would hear right back from someone at the Kirkland U-Haul. Still nothing. On August 9th (Friday), I called again and actually got someone at the physical store. I explained the situation and gave him my online reservation number. He said he wasn't able to find it and that they had never gotten my message from the call center. After being put on hold a few times (he seemed a little out of his depth, but to be fair my request wasn't exactly routine), he decided we would just make a new reservation. I asked if I'd be able to still get my online $10 discount, and he said that wouldn't be a problem. I gave him the part number I needed, and he set me up with an installation appointment the following Monday (August 12th). I went in on the 12th, and things went pretty smoothly. The installation was complete in less than the estimate given. When I came back to pay for the service, I was told that there was some stocking error they had to deal with before they could print out the invoice and take payment. No big deal; the guy behind the desk struck up a bit of a conversation with me while we waited so I wouldn't be bored. When they printed up the invoice, I noticed the $10 discount hadn't been applied, so I asked about it and he went ahead and fixed it for me. (In the meantime I also noticed they had tacked on the $5 warranty for the hitch without my consent which I was *not* interested in. At that point I figured $5 was no big deal and just let it slide.) The following week I checked my credit card statement and noticed that there were two charges from U-Haul: one on the 6th for my original amount and then another on the 13th for the in-store amount. I called their 800 customer service number to get a refund for the online reservation. After having to talk through what had happened several times, she put me on hold and called the Kirkland U-Haul to talk to the manager. After coming back, she said he would be able to give me a refund if I went into the store. The location is a bit out-of-the-way, so I asked if I could do it over the phone; she wasn't sure how to answer, so I asked if she could issue me the refund instead. She said she could but that she'd have to issue a complaint, which she clearly didn't want to do. I said I'd try my luck with the store first. I called the Kirkland U-Haul and was connected to the call center again. The very chipper representative told me that the Kirkland manager was marked as 'online' currently and that he would be able to call me right back. (Riiiiight.) She verified my phone number, and I waited. And waited. I finally called back two days later and was connected directly to their store. I briefly explained my situation and that I wanted a refund (starting to feel a bit like a broken record...), and he took a moment to soak it in and told me he couldn't help me, but that if I didn't mind waiting he would find someone who could but that it might take a while because they were really, really busy. I said I wouldn't mind waiting. After a bit, I got another person on the phone. He sounded very harried, apologized, and asked if I wouldn't mind holding just a bit longer because he was in the middle of several conversations. When he came back, I gave him my contract numbers, and he was eventually able to find my online reservation, cancel it, and issue a refund. He stayed on the phone until I received my email confirmation. If you take anything away from my review, AVOID THE ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM. And don't expect your call center messages to get through either. read more

Awesome service here! On our prep to move across the country, my husband had this uhaul install a hitch on his truck. They did it, it worked excellent. We bought moving boxes from them and when we went to leave, it started to rain. We had no place to put the moving boxes but in the back of my husband's truck. I accepted that the top box would be ruined by the rain. Just as we were about the leave, a uhaul worker cam scampering out with some plastic bags and a blanket for us to put over the moving boxes so they would not get ruined by the rain! Talk about customer service! EXCELLENT! We also rented a trailer from them to transport my car to be towed behind my husband's truck. NO problems, they attached it and it stayed attached as we drove across the country to NY. Absolutely no issues here, they are all great workers and they helped us out. read more

I recently rented a van here for one day and, all in all, it went fairly smoothly. First, the good stuff: -reserving, picking up and dropping off the van went super smoothly. Quick, no glitches, nice. -counter-staff during pick-up and drop-off were all great. Very friendly, helpful and informative. -the staff explained exactly all charges and even went over our options for a future long-distance one-way rental this coming summer (along with how we might even save some money for this future move of ours. So nice of them!) -the van itself drove well and served our purposes perfectly. -I liked getting the email reminders after reserving online, and the email receipt after drop-off. Now the stuff that wasn't as good: -you know how all the U-Hauls around town say in huge, bold letters that they're available to rent out for $19.99/day? Don't buy into that at all! It costs way more to rent out on weekends, and then they tack on mileage and gas and taxes and a nominal fee, too. We just used the van from Kirkland to Redmond and back to Kirkland, for less than one day (granted, on a Saturday). Charges came to nearly $38 (not including our filling the tank). So just beware! -when picking up the van, my debit card was swiped and a "hold" was placed for $80. At drop-off I was told that, had I opted for the credit option (as opposed to the debit option), the refund would have been immediate (with the debit option, it cold take up to 5 business days for the bank to refund/release the money back to your account). I just wish the guy at the counter had told me that and given me the choice to use this credit option when I picked up the van. For the most part, this rental was a fairly painless process and we plan on using this place again this summer for a longer move. read more

I've rented UHaul trucks from this location several times for own moves and when I'm helping friends move. If you understand how Uhaul truck rental works (cost + insurance + mileage), you should be in and out in less then 10 minutes. The trucks are always clean and I've never been charged extra for anything. They also tell you that since the mileage + fuel cost is hard to predict, you can fill a gallon of gas for every 10 miles you drive (or prorate). All in all, it's close to my place and the people are nice. They also don't tend to try to oversell you things which yoy may not need (wraps/dollies) so that's nice. read more

Didnt charge me extra for a little less fuel gauge than what i picked it up at- which is sign of good customer service. Smoooth experience. I think looking at the other reviews - people who have no idea of the pricing at uHaul may be in a state of shock at some of the pricing. The thing is for the staff there - they usually just assume that customer knows about all the pricing. If you say upfront that you have no idea of prcing --- they may be in a better position to work. I rented a 10' box truck on-line and boy am I frustrated! U-Haul is such a bait and switch! Advertised rate was $19.99 for the rental, then insurance, then .89 per mile (what a rip off!) plus other advertising, apparently "out of date" yet posted on the wall at the rental counter says .29 per mile. So I sign the contract already feeling a little miffed THEN I find out that I need to fill up what gas I used for the rental (meaning the .89 DID NOT cover the fuel charge) then the rental tax which is on top of the sales tax then the environmental tax. Shame on U-Haul for not being up front or clear about all the additional fees -or- for putting it in "the fine print". You should not have to work so hard to uncover the real cost. Todays business transactions should be transparent. U-Haul is happy to boldly advertise $19.99 for their rental but hides all the other changes. So total charge for 4 hours was not even close to advertised rates $74.64 for less than 30 miles! I will never use this company again. read more

Extremely rude employee told me he could not fill 3 of my 7 tanks because he did not have an adapter. The three tanks are large 20 gallon tanks. All the tanks had the same valves and he did not even look at the valves before repeatedly telling me it would not work. He really did not like it when I was correct and he had to fill the large tanks. Then he tried to charge me for several extra gallons of propane. There is a meter on the propane filling station so I verified he had overcharged me and asked for a refund. He was so rude when I asked him for a refund I asked another employee what's with this guys attitude? The employee had the gal to say, now you're going to question my work ethic. Interesting for a guy who just tried to steal from me and who huffed and puffed when I asked for a refund. Maybe they round up for all their propane sales and I just caught it. When the manager, and what appears to be the owner of this location, came out, he did about as much grumbling because their system can't refund propane. He literally threw cash on the counter in front of me and said here take this, because this will take a week to sort out. No apology for overcharging me and not even the decency to hand me the cash directly. I didn't even know how much cash he threw down. He had not witnessed any of the interaction with this employee. I followed the manager out and confronted him about my experience and his extremely rude employee. After complaining about how hard it is to find good help these days, I said "maybe this employee should not work with the public". His response was "Well - I did not raise him". That's the tone set for this business by the Owner/manager. I would recommend looking for a different location if you need propane or other services U-Haul provides. read more

So bad. Filthy, filthy van appeared to have been used for hauling landscaping plants - possibly without planters. Dirt clods scattered around the back so I called, talked to the manager. He offered to take it back and give me another van (an incalculable gamble after getting one crapped out vehicle from them) so I figured I could clean it up in less than 30 minutes, the round trip time to U-Haul. He said he'd credit the cleaning charge which turned out to be an empty offer in multiple ways. The cleaning charge, per the contract, is apparently whatever they feel like charging so the offer meant nothing. Then he actually credited me NOTHING. I actually spent about 90 minutes cleaning because as I swept the dirt off the mat more and more kept coming loose. I tried rolling the side of the mat over to centralize the dirt - more dirt. Finally I wrestled it out of there, shook the mat off and then swept it. Swept the van out, not easy as a 6'1" man. Found I was late for everything when I was done, got in a parking conflict with my old landlord and missed out on a full load of shipping ability due to the delay. The correct answer to this would be to refund the whole rental fee and pay me $500 for my cleaning services (hourly rate $100, 5x for combined night/weekend/holiday rate.) Do not rent from this location and ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RENTAL BEFORE YOU LEAVE. read more

I don't recommend using this Uhaul location. When we picked up our truck it had less than 1/4 tank of gas left in it but the paper said it had 1/4 tank. We drove 16 miles total and did NOT leave the truck running at all. According to the guy that worked there he said the truck gets 8 miles to the gallon (which I doubt. I'm sure it's at least 10) so when we brought it back without gas he said we needed to put 2 gallons in it to make up for the 16 miles or get charged an extra $30 refuel fee plus gas. We then went and put 2 gallons in. Then when we took it back again, the next guy also mentioned it had less than 1/4 tank. Well DUHHHH, that's what it had when We picked it up. CLEARLY we had added just as much or more gas than we had used! Moral of the story....don't visit this Uhaul location!! Lesson learned. Next time we get in the truck and it has less gas in it than the paperwork says, I will be going right back in until they fix it, or add fuel. Called on a Tuesday to reserve a truck from Saturday to Wednesday. I was told they would not rent me a truck longer than 24 hours. Because they "want to service as many customers as possible." It makes no sense to inconvenience a paying customer who wants to use your services, just to "service another" when they'd pay the same thing I would. It's U-Haul. A national TRUCK RENTAL company. Refusing to rent me a truck. I'll never rent from U-Haul. Nor will I recommend it for anyone else. What a joke. read more
