This is a bizzare bike / hardware store that also doubles as a Uhaul rental and storage facility…read more We had an almost disastrous experience here when we were moving from TX to PA this past summer! We arrived in PA a week before closing on our house, and signed up to use Uhaul's storage facilities for a week. We arrived, unloaded our truck into one of their storage containers, and told the man running the place we'd be back in a week to get our stuff. We then tried to return the Uhaul van to him - which should have taken about 10 mintues, tops, but instead took over an hour - he needed to refold all of the moving blankets we'd used, and then he couldn't work his computer, it took forever! Unfortunately this wasn't even the worst of it! A week passed, and we called the place to let them know we were coming for our stuff.... no answer on the phone, no answer when we got Uhaul to call them - just a strange answering machine message saying they were closed FOR THE WEEK. Who closes for a week randomly?? Did they go fishing? Traveling? Our stuff was there! We were livid and ready to cut open their locks and get out stuff out, but turns out the guy was so incompetent he hadn't even put his own lock on the container, only ours was there, so we were able to get our stuff out on time and move in to our house... but it was way too stressful! I expect Uhaul storage facilities to be more professional!

I recently needed to reserve a rental truck to transport some furniture to my daughter's house…read moreabout 300 miles away from me. I started calling actual movers and received several quotes for the job. Finding their quotes quite expensive, I decided to get quotes for one-way rentals where my son-in-law could drive the truck and return it closer to where they live. I found a couple of places, but Budget Truck Rental was very reasonable so I reserved my dates and times with all details they needed 2 months ahead of when we wanted the truck. Since it was just after Thanksgiving holiday that we needed the truck, I knew it might be a busy time. Budget truck assured me that when it came to my date, I might not be able to get the 12 foot truck, but could get the 16 foot truck and it would be the same cost. No extra charge. A week before my date, I called Budget just to confirm all was well and things were all set for the following week. To my shock, they told me there were no trucks available for that date! They said they were trying to find a truck to give us, but so far they were not successful. I was in a panic. How dare they NOT have a truck to give me! I had a confirmed reservation! I received it well in advance of my date! I was in a panic and starting calling other rental places. Other rental prices costs were now higher than what they quoted me 8 weeks ago! I reserved something that was twice as high price as Budget Rental just to get a truck. My daughter ended up finding a truck that was very reasonable, and they assured us that this truck was reserved for us and is guaranteed to be available when the time came. We cancelled both Budget and the other place I reserved in panic. During the course of this fiasco, my daughter told me this same thing happened to them when they moved a few years ago. They booked a Budget Rental truck for their move from one house to the other. Last minute they were told there were no trucks available. They went through much frustration trying to find trucks last minute. They ended up with several smaller 10' trucks that they had to pack, deliver and repack. They also had to get a storage facility and pay for such to store their belongings and then deliver them later. What was supposed to be a wonderful experience moving into their new home, turned sour because of Budget Rental Truck's lack of a system to RESERVE and HONOR customer's requests for trucks. They explained to her at the time that they rented many of their trucks to UPS and Amazon. Of course they did this so they can rake in more money from those companies and disappoint their other customers! My daughter never shared this story to me so I didn't know how Budget Truck treated them. We got our move done, but not until my daughter and I were frazzled by having all this dumped on us last minute. I would never recommend Budget Rental. They have a lousy business practice. I highly suggest that if you are looking for a truck rental company, use another company....even if you have to pay a bit more. Make sure you ask if you are guaranteed a truck.

I stayed back from joining my family for a birthday to take care of moving stuff to storage. Was…read moresuper excited about the facility- it is brand new and promises "instant access" to your unit. Signing up online- halfway through the website crashed and told me there was an error. So I tried again, and got through the process for one storage unit. Well, apparently they have charged me for two, even though I didn't get through or sign the paperwork for the first one. So I spend a couple hours on a super hot day, 8 months pregnant, loading up the truck. Head to the storage unit- the gate code doesn't work- "invalid gate code, access denied". Of course there's no local after hours number so I call the 800 24/7 number. She gives me a temp passcode which also doesn't work- transfers me to another department. She helps me troubleshoot and enter various versions of the code. Doesn't work. She then says I shouldn't have been transferred to her since they don't work with this location, but she will reach out to someone. "Someone" didn't answer, so Im told to "hang tight" and see if they kindly "return the call on their day off". Hi, it's also my day off and I gave up precious family time because this place is supposed to be reliable. So Im told I have to wait until tomorrow (a holiday) and spend more family time on the phone with them figuring this out and requesting a refund for being charged twice. Super cool. So now I have a truckload of stuff I get to unload (then re-load at some point) because I need to be able to fit my family in it tomorrow, in the heat, 8 months pregnant, because I just wasted 6+ hours in this entire process and have nothing to show for it besides two charges on my credit card, a full truck, and an even more exhausted self.
