Monday to Thursday are not the days to come. I get great service and equipment on weekends. On weekdays I get scammed by this location. The list goes on.. Double charging my card, refusal of rental for equipment if I don't go inside and purchase another equipment or device when I have one that has been purchased from U-Haul within months. Seems like they hire people who aren't very much knowledgeable of how these heavy equipment works. I highly suggest opting in for their insurance options as well due to false accusations of damaged equipment. Always take your own pictures don't let them take it for you. Good luck to those who need to use their services. I will return for the few good workers on the weekends but as far as week days.. the lack of knowledge and customer service is beyond obsolete read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. I recently rented a U-Haul, and not once--but twice--I was handed a vehicle that was below empty on gas. The first truck had the check engine light on and gas below empty. I went back inside and asked for a different truck. They gave me another one, but to my surprise, the second truck was also running on fumes. When I brought this up, I was basically given two options: 1. Wait around while they might put gas in it (which clearly wasn't a priority for anyone), or 2. Drive it off the lot with no gas and fill it up myself--on my time and dime. Absolutely unacceptable. If you're renting vehicles to customers, they should be in safe, driveable condition with at least enough fuel to get to a gas station. I expected better from a company as big as U-Haul. TL;DR Great customer service Reservation: 10' Truck + Multi-Day Reservation + Returning to Alternate Location Out of Area I scheduled a reservation for a location less than 5 minutes from my house and ended up being re-routed here which was about 15 minutes away. Thought about cancelling the reservation and going somewhere else but I'm glad I didn't. I anticipated it would be busy even with a reservation because I came in at the end of the month in preparation for a July 1 move. Anyone coming in at the middle of the month or the end should pack their patience because yes, everyone is moving out at that time too. The manager helped me with the reservation. I waited 15 minutes prior to being helped with three people ahead of me. While the manager was helping me he was also helping an associate with a reservation. I could tell the associate was new and found out later he had only been there two weeks. The manager was patient and kind with his responses as the associate asked questions. (We've all had that job with no training or an asshole manager and neither feel great. That wasn't the case here.) The manager continued on with my reservation and guided me to the truck. He went over truck, gas, etc. as expected. Truck was great and had no issues - - also happened to be a newer truck with back-up camera. we have never had such a great propane tank experience than we did with Hunter at U-Haul. He gently and kindly filled our tank with a smile and with care. He even polished our tank with 409 lemon scent and made our tank shiny and clean . When it came time to turn in our truck, hunter passionately grabbed our blankets and began folding them with the energy of a three legged cat with a pack of wolves . every corner was matched to perfection, the blankets were wrinkle free and folded to perfection. we knew we met a special person when Hunter began spraying the blankets with Febreeze and then sprayed us as well because he wanted us to smell fresh, which we appreciated because we had had taco bell earlier and were very gassy 5 stars for Hunter ! read more

Here's an easy 1-star for both U hauls in the area. I get propane refills regularly and have never had an issue coming close to closing. I was sent to this U-haul by another U-haul that said they shut it off 30 minutes before. This is not advertised anywhere. I am actually pretty shocked to see that the rating overall was as low as it shows. This location is amazing! I was helped by the manager, Victor. After I had a really shit experience at a local storage unit who rents out uhauls. (long story short they reserved me a truck that wasn't available) I went to this local U-Haul location and Victor was able to get me a truck on a Saturday at 11am. He and the team were able to assist me and the whole store. Great service, clean store. I will always come to this location, and refer to Victor. read more

I'm besides myself about how thoughtful and thorough the entire staff was. My objective was to have a trailer hitch installed and I was really concerned and apprehensive feeling my wagon would some how become unsafe. Well, Victor was very knowledgeable with Subarus and he took the time to break it down and reassure me. The entire staff were so nice from Francisco the installer, Eric the clerk as well as, the owner Victor, truthfully their sole purpose was to not only make it a pleasant ex but most importantly safety. I can't think of a thing that could have been better. The staff was very helpful, courteous, and polite. Pickup and drop off were super easy and fast. I chose this location specifically because it was a uhaul location and I was thinking I'd get good service that way- I was more than satisfied. My compliments to the employees who helped me! Fuel lines on trucks were cut- so most of the trucks that customers had reserved, weren't available. We were lucky to get a van, but having a smaller truck increased the amount of trips. Apparently this has been super-common lately. The employee who checked us out, showed up late, and didn't do a vehicle inspection prior to giving us the keys. I asked him some truck specific questions; he was clueless. Some of the employees there were nice and apologized for their poor security and lack of vehicles available because of the damage to the trucks, but that doesn't really help when you've planned your move two months in advance and your move is completely dependent on a moving truck. So while I appreciate your apology, it's meaningless. Don't go here, bottom line. read more

This location is ridiculous. The fuel was siphoned from a few vehicles, including mine. The person in charge retrieved gas for one vehicle but he and another employee told me there was enough gas to got to Valero less than a mile away. The truck tran out of gas in the middle.of the rd, Sac PD had to run traffic control while family members retrieved gas. 2.5 hours after getting to location to pick up the truck. I finally head to the house. Their "direct" line is a freaking joke because no one answers. Instead you sit on hold until you give up. Their roadside assistance is garbage because they only give you a website, no number, so be prepared to type all of you info in on a smart phone and hope someone shows up. On top of this, trying to read the terms and conditions of your contract freezes up their system, which means you have to sign before you have a chance to read them. Customer service is terrible, corporate office doesnt care to reply when you reach out, and in my opinion the only reason this company still operates is because people like me want it cheap. Next time, I'm paying extra and going with Budget, Penske, or another competitor. This place does not deserve the business it gets. We all should try to understand the value of time versus the value of money and realize that cheap isn't always great. Uhaul needs to do better. read more

U-Haul is clean, well stocked, easy to get to, large, and pleasant for my business. I needed to rent a car hauler from this location but the prior renter had not returned the trailer. The employee was very attentive, sorry, and willing to help me out of the jam. She called the late renter to try to get them to return it soon so that I could use it. She stated that I was waiting on it and that the business location was closing soon. That renter refused as they were too far away to get it to me on time. So, though I had to cancel my reservation, it was at no fault of this facility and they really tried hard to save the day. I really appreciated the effort and their willingness to press the renter that decided to keep the car hauler longer than their reservation allowed. So, conclusion, if you are reading this make sure that you return your rented items on time so that others can use them per their reservations. Though I had to cancel my reservation I wasn't charged anything and felt that the staff treated me with respect. I will rent from this location again. Thank you. read more

I was in a bind to get a hitch installed. I scheduled an appointment and they were able to fit me in and order the part in time. Long story short, they ordered the wrong part. They moved mountains to get the correct part from the Bay Area and got it installed in time. The correct hitch would have cost me much more, but they discounted the service to make up for the mixup. We reserved a truck for contactless pickup last week and when we went to go pick it up, we ended up being told to go inside the store where there was a long line of angry customers. We ended up waiting for a half an hour just to be told there were "technical" issues with the truck we reserved and that we were out of luck. Outrageous. I feel bad for the kids working fb here who were trying there hardest. But the manager should be fired and the county should shut this hell hole down for being a public health threat. read more

Ok, first off, I'm the type of person that's against wearing a mask, o think we should all wear one. My car is on the side of the freeway and this is the only place with a car transport available, so I book it and come to pick it up. When I arrive there is a person being helped n front of me (wearing a mask) and the U-Haul guy has a mask but not is not wearing it, as soon as is my turn he puts on his mask and says "I'm not serving you with out a mask" while this whole time he's not wearing one. I say I'm sorry I apologize for not wearing one, my car is stranded on the side of the freeway, could you please make an exception, I can't go back to pickup my mask. without even acknowledging what I just told him, says No! Get out! I tell another gentleman the situation and he just doesn't care. (While I started to write this review, an employee came out and said I'm not renting the trailer to your friend leave, because you said you took a picture of an employee not wearing a mask without his consent, I told him, yes I said that but I didn't take it, here I'll show you my phone. He screamed "no leave" as I stood by the door talking to him the employee that was not wearing a mask came and shut the door hitting me with it, assaulting me and locking the door.) I rented a van for $19.99 from these guys on 2/10/18. From what I was told, the rental period is up to 24 hours. I only needed the van for 4-5 hours so I scheduled it for that time frame. I paid the extra $10 for insurance, which brought my bill to 29.00. They precharged me for my estimated mileage, so out the door I paid them 39.52. When I got into the van, it smelled like funk. I figured that was no biggie because it's a U-haul...it's not going to smell brand new. What was scary though, was I threw my binder onto the passenger seat and a cloud of dirt flew up.They must NEVER vaccuum these trucks... I used the van, put gas in it, and I called U-Haul to tell them I would be running late bringing the van back. They close at 7, I was going to be there around 7:15. The guy said (and this is advertised throughout their website and store) that I could just come and drop the key in their after hours drop box. So thats what I did. I check my credit card statement, and there is an additional charge on top of the 39.52. They charged me 52.11, so I wound up paying 91.63 to use a van for 5 hours. Now I know you are saying to yourself "how far did he drive?" I drove the van from florin road to city college, then from city college to 5th and broadway. Then back to city college, then back to 5th and broadway, and returned it to florin. That whole span is about 15-20 miles round trip. at .79 per mile, that brings it to 15.80 plus 29, which means my bill should have been $44. I called the store, and the clerk put me through to customer service. They are going to get back to me. I hope other U haul locations aren't faulty like this. I made an appointment with Isaiah for a hitch install. The original appointment was rescheduled because Julius the installer was not going to be there. This was not a problem, until when I arrived on the reschedule date and found neither Isaiah nor Julius were there. The front desk employees said she had no clue where they were and so she texted them to find out. I was made to wait around until ultimately I was told that I can just leave my car and come back later to pick it up. I explained to the employee that I was told that the install was going to be relatively quick and that I could wait for my car until the install was done. I was not prepared to leave and come back. Truck was good no issues there. But when I returned the truck it was slightly after 7:00 so I had to lock up the truck and drop the key in the return box. I returned the truck clean and more gas than what I left with. I was surprised to find an additional $150.00 charged to my credit card. When I returned to this location I was told I did not return the appliance dolly. Not sure what kind of scam these people are running but I most certainly did. I called this place 2 times, 1st time had me on hold for 35 mins, so I hung up, 2nd time called up an hour later the rep told me it's better off to go online to order, I told him that for some reason it keep leading me to the storage unit, but I need to rent a truck, so he forward me to another person because he was under a truck, the person then put me on hold 20 minutes, so I hung up. I was surprised to read all of the negative reviews for this place. I was referred to this location when I called the Elk Grove location for a hitch install. I can only speak of my experience with Victor and he was nothing but informative, helpful and kind. I needed a hitch installed with a bike rack. Knowing nothing about hitches or even bike racks, Victor explained what I needed to know and what I should be getting/looking for. He ordered the parts I needed. I scheduled an appointment and Victor installed everything for me. He gave us detailed instructions on how to use the hitch and bike rack when we came to pick up the car. Victor also told us that if we had any further questions or any issues to just come back to him. Very satisfied with our interaction at this place as everyone seemed helpful. read more

He has been helping one person for over 10 minutes already. Absolutely ridiculous. *update - it has taken 50 minutes.
