I always reserve our trucks weeks up to a month in advance for our home shows. This reservation was no different and we went to pick up the 24' rental truck at the Vancouver location and the only person who could rent the truck was out. Jay who was supposed to be there went out for another project and knew we would pick up the truck after renting a plethora of times from him. I asked the office to call him, and he took their call and instructed them to inform me it would be a 30-minute minimum wait. He told them if I had an issue with it to call him on his cell. I called Jay, three times and no answer. I politely asked the office to call him and he answered and they handed me the phone. I explained to Jay I had workers waiting and needed the truck, Jay told me I had to wait and no one else could assist me. I explained to Jay that this wasn't acceptable given "TIME OF THE ESSENCES" to which he replied, "I have no truck for you!!!" I said, I reserved this truck and I'm here to pick it up. Jay said he wouldn't rent to me!! RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to drive to the Portland, Oregon location and reserved a truck from the Columbia Boulevard location and Keith was very accommodating. I'm now in talks with Corporate Office for Enterprise and they are taking this situation very serious on how I was treated. I will update once this is resolved.

I was able to choose a car that suited my rental needs. Also, there are multiple insurance options to coverage cost for possible damage during the contract period. The rental rate was reasonable as well. Lastly, returning the vehicle was very easy and hassle-free. Will rent again from this branch.

Removed my access illegally and didn't give me required notice in writing before removing my access, causing me to loose money paid renting a van and hiring help to move out of my unit which I couldn't access without required notice. When I called to figure out what was going on I received text messages instead of a call back. Here are those messages: Uhaul Gm: You where placed on structured access due to misuse of the facility this was explained this morning your girlfriend. Me: I'm the owner of the unit, nothing was explained to me. What is the misuse of facility? Please explain in detail Gm: Using the restrooms for residential use Me: Explain what that means, because I didn't even use your restrooms last night. Me: I have a pregnant girlfriend waiting for me in an empty apartment we just got into, waiting for me to bring home our bed because she can't bare to sleep on the floor again Me: I rented a large van and have hired help I need to get our things man, this is ridiculous! Gm: You and your friend like to hang out in the restrooms for hour or more on multiple occasions. This is a storage facility. Gm: You're more than welcome to come back at 7 am when we open. Me: If the friend you are talking about is my girlfriend, she is 5 months pregnant and has Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that can cause dehydration and weight loss. On a daily basis she is so sick that she can't keep down anything she puts in her stomach and has been hospitalized Twice already from its complications. She is also severely constipated to the point she spends hours in the bathroom everywhere she uses one, it's a horrific set of circumstances for our family, how could you cut off access to us without even having a conversation with us about it. Last time I checked, using the bathroom for an hour isn't a crime nor can I find anything in your rules or see any signs posted about a limit to the length of time you're allowed to spend having a bowel movement. Me: Sean, this is (removed) tenant of Unit #0509. I am fully paid up on rent and also pay for 24-hour access. Under RCW 19.150, a storage operator may only deny access if the tenant is in default, which I am not. Locking me out without written notice is unlawful. Your reasoning about "residential use" of restrooms does not apply, and my partner's extended restroom use is due to a documented medical condition (Hyperemesis Gravidarum), which may also fall under ADA protections. Denying access without considering this is discriminatory. I demand my access to Unit #0509 be restored no later than 10:00 PM tonight. If it is not, I will call the police to restore access and will also file a complaint with the Washington Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division for violations of RCW 19.150 and ADA protections. Please confirm access is restored immediately. Me: You cannot discriminate against a pregnant woman for needing more bathroom time than you alone are comfortable with, and what you have done is illegal. No further responses from the GM, had to reach out to the regional manager to get my access restored. Besides that, people without access regularly sneak/break in after hours and when the alarm goes off nothing happens. No police no security just a 30 second alarm goes off then nothing happens afterward. would highly not recommend this place!

I received superior customer service on the phone from a very knowledgable and courteous representative. The price was also excellent. I confirmed the van again about 3 weeks prior to the event. Again, I was told by a very nice representative that everything was set and I was "good to go." Because so much was riding on this reservation, I reconfirmed on August 18, 2010. The representative was again lovely and had no difficulty finding my reservation, but admitted that NO TRUCKS OR VANS WERE AVAILABLE for my RESERVATION! I asked how that could be, since I had spoken with them twice before. I was told that sometimes people don't return their vehicles on time and that was the case in my circumstance. She told me that there was a possibility that there was a 26' truck with hydraulic lift that MIGHT be available! I told them that it was absolutely necessary that they find me a reasonable sized vehicle (try parking a 26' truck in downtown Portland!) to the one that I had RESERVED 2 months prior and confirmed 3 WEEKS prior and that I would be waiting by the phone for their call. An hour or so later, they called to say that a trucking agency across town, McCoy Freightliner, might be able to help me. When I called the trucking agency, I determined that unlike Ryder, I would have to provide my own truck insurance on their commercial vehicle.....my insurance agent dropped everything to help, but was unable to provide me with that type of coverage. I called Ryder back and explained again that they needed to find me a truck; the representative said she could try to call Penske......Again, I said that I would wait for her call. This time, I began a search of my own and found a small 10' U-Haul truck on the NE side of Portland for a comparable price. An hour later, I called Ryder back; they had not called me. The agent was AGAIN extremely nice, but said that Penske did not have any trucks. I told her that I had found a U-Haul truck. I told her that her agency had always been extremely nice on the phone but that no amount of niceness made up for leaving a customer with a reservation high and dry. I told her that I apparently would have shown up at 7:00 am on August 20, 2010 and would have had no transportation for my event. She was apologetic, but agreed that that was what would have happened. I told her that there needs to be a policy and procedure in place to check reservations in advance and call clients immediately with as much notice as possible to avoid this type of thing. Again, she apologized but said this happens because people do not return vehicles on time. Then she said that she may possibly have located a vehicle in a maintenance shed that MIGHT be available if it was fixed in time, and did I want to reserve it? I told her that a reservation did not mean anything at their company and that I would keep my UHaul reservation. This was a nightmare. DO NOT RESERVE AND RENT with the is company. They are nice, but completely unreliable.

First of all with the truck. I had to call out a technician twice before my wife and I could even leave because the truck wasn't working properly. More headaches continue: I had to later rent a car dolly due to that I had to tow my wife's car because we would be the only one's moving our belongings. The individual that I rented from told me specifically that because I rented the dolly separate from the truck that the due date would be moved forward a day later. I confirmed with him twice to make sure I was hearing him correctly and he confirmed to me that the due date would be a day later. More headaches continue. The dolly wasn't working properly when I picked it up. One of the tail lights was out. Not very safe. Then when I finally reach our new place, unload our stuff I find out that the so called individual I rented from in Vancouver would not honor what he promised and told me, and that he also did not remember saying those things to me. I lose UBER AMOUNTS of respect for people that don't honor what they say. In the end I was still going to have to pay the "late fees" because of the jerk that has a memory problem. But the wonderful Penske associate where I delivered the truck and dolly helped me out and waived those fees. Lesson learned: DO NOT RENT FROM PENSKE only if you get everything in writing and I MEAN EVERYTHING.
