The day before we go to pick up our truck I get a call that it needs and oil change, so can we come later in the day. When we get there the clerk tells me that they don't have a tow dolly for my car, and there isn't one for 150 miles. I think to myself, "I bet I know where there's a tow dolly", and call penske. They have us in the truck we wanted in an hour! The bottom line, Penske may be more expensive, but they guarantee you a clean, new truck, on time, and just how you wanted it. Plus, we didn't have to pay for miles with Penske, so we used the truck to pick up new furniture at garage sales for a couple days after we got to Portland. Totally Excellent!

You borrow a vehicle or a trailer, or both, to move "stuff" from one place to another. It's usually not a fun task, and it would be great if they made the process of actually moving more fun. But U-Haul does offer moving services, moving accessories, and plenty of local options to get you from place to place. I checked into this location online and had my reservation ready to go when I showed up at the store. All I had to do was to show ID and sign up for any insurance, and minutes later I was in the borrowed box truck and on my way. I only needed it for a short time, but what I asked for is exactly what I got. I also had friendly service and plenty of explanation of what to do when I brought the vehicle back. If there was any knock, then it was the fact that the truck I borrowed was pretty filthy, but since it had 140K miles on it, it had seen some road time. You can make a reservation online, which is probably the easiest thing to do, or you can do so over the phone. If you borrow a vehicle, just make sure you fill the tank before you bring it back, because it's $4.25 a gallon if you don't. Their check-in process also makes you take photos of the vehicle before you leave the lot, so that any liability concerns of previous damage do not reflect upon you. Moving stinks, but U-Haul can make that process easier.
