I am definitely a fan of Amtosphere, having been here in '09, '12, twice in 2014, and again in…read more2015!
This is definitely a pub/restaurant with a student-local vibe, and nowhere you want to be if smoking bothers you, but all in all it is a fantastic spot in old town where the food is reliable and the hours are perfect!
The first time I went was late in a cold January night back in '09, and I followed my Czech-native friends down crazy back alleys, entirely confused as to where we were. After many a glass of wine and amazing conversation, I was surprised to see we exited out near the river, right in Prague 1! This made it slightly easier to find again on my next trip.
In 2012 I took my husband here (far too early in the day) on our honeymoon. The place was mostly deserted, but he loved his mojito, I enjoyed my glass of red wine, and all the food we had was on point. (I believe back then it was a cheese plate, as well as grilled steak, and grilled goat cheese over salad.) -- He loved the food and vibe so much he said we had to go back on our next trip.
The two (+) times we've been back, we've been even more delighted with the food, and as we went later in the day, also in the vibrant atmosphere.
I love their takes on Tex-Mex style food such as burritos, chili con carne, sides with dipping sauces and hot peppers, etc.
We've ordered plenty of stuff on our trips here and have quite honestly never been disappointed.
Also, the fun wall art and signs make this place that much more awesome. Truly a place to chill, watch the natives, and enjoy yourself. Also a fun place to take random Scottish people you just met on the metro when they are new to the area ^^
