They told me I needed a minimum in my checking account. They made a transfer from the savings to checking account so that I would not be charged the service charge monthly. AND then the next statement I get, there's ANOTHER SERVICE CHARGE! I got my Banner Bank Mastercard Statement today and there is a credit balance on it. I called in and after speaking with an agent for 5-10 minutes she tells me she will transfer me to the credit card department. The transfer goes through and once again I am NOT at the credit card department. The lady gives me the number for the credit card department and ITS THE SAME NUMBER I ALREADY CALLED. So I call again and ASK for the credit card department. The lady that answers is the exact same lady I already talked to who told just gave me the number for the credit card department! OMG! what the hell?!!! So now I actually have to waste even more of my precious time and drive down to the branch and have them take care of this problem. THESE PEOPLE ARE PATHETIC. Safe yourself the aggravation and BANK SOMEHWERE ELSE!

The twins said "well I think I see chocolate candy on their desk". No one even said a word or offered it to them after the kids mentioned the candy. And they all heard. No other customers. While I was filling out a deposit slip, I heard a lady at a desk, talking to a customer on the phone and after about a 2/3 min conversation, she said "Let me talk to my supervisors & I'll get back with you." When she hung up, another employee said, you can't get them now...."She said "I know, I just said that to get off the phone with them." I'm glad I'm at Wells Fargo. Unfriendly and just going through the motions at Banner.

Long version: Recently, they decided to swap all the ATM cards with debit Visa cards and to start using them, with no mention anywhere of the PIN changes I go to the ATM and try to get cash out, well I am denied reason incorrect PIN. Tried to call them, well they are closed. Called them the next day and I am told well I have to use the new PIN. I inquired as to why I have not received the pin (been a week), and why I was not notified of the PIN change. In the letter I received implied that I need to start using the card and there was no mention that the old cards are valid for a month . Now the only option for me is to go to the WSECU and get my PIN reset. I asked her if there is anything you can do to help me as I am flying out tomorrow, her response was well I can help you find a shared branch (which I can find myself on their web site). In short talking to the customer service representative was a waste of time ! Lastly, I had also tried to call them earlier this week when I was swapping the cards, but they put me on hold forever, and I hung up.

I will explain…read more Moving proceeds from a matured CD to another bank, because rates are better in the latter, should be a routine transaction. Banks do this many times a day. As a retiree, I need to live off of interest, so I have to move money to where it will earn the most, and Wash Fed is behind the curve...badly, I might add. So I approached the Wash Fed Branch Manager to let him know the move of money from a matured CD was coming in a week, and he assured me it would not be a problem. The day the move was supposed to happen, first, the "back office" (Wash Fed team who handles the movement) balked and said they needed a "custodian signature" to move the money. The receiving bank virtually never receives such requests, but jumped through hoops to get the signature. Then, the next day, some woman (who sounded like a lost lamb) from the Wash Fed back office called me to say the money can't move because she can't read the order to move it. That call should have gone to the Branch Manager and not to me. By then I knew that this can bog down into an interminable quagmire. If you asked 5 different back office people what the proper procedure was to move the money, you would get 6 different answers. So I called Wash Fed downtown. They advised me that they do not meet with customers for escalations. They advised me to work through the Branch Manager, who in this case was a nice twentysomething kid who's being jerked around by the back office. Then I finally got to an "arbitrater" downtown who was able to cut the noise and get the money moved. Thing is, after trusting Wash Fed with a piece of my life savings for 5 years, I'm not supposed to have to jump through hoops, pound on the table and threaten litigation to get them to do what should be a routine thing. Well, you may say, they have a right to impose reasonable controls on IRA money. Yes, agreed, the key word here is "reasonable". At AlaskaUSA, by contrast, they issue you your IRA check on the spot in 5 minutes or less, with the new bank as payee rather than you...so the rules are fully respected (i.e. you cannot cash the check) yet the customer is not inconvenienced. At Wash Fed, the back office lives in the Twilight Zone, a world apart from the reality you and I know. In the Twilight Zone, they can impose any condition and delay they want even if it deviates from industry standards, use any procedure they want at the moment, and play God with your money. And believe me, you may think your money is yours, but it WILL NOT move until you do everything that God has told you you must. And no, you cannot talk directly with God, if there's a real issue, though an arbiter might be persuaded to intervene on your behalf. But that works if and only if God agrees to go along with their coaching, so start praying. Save your self respect, and your hair, and give your business to someone who lives in the same world as you and me.

I have banked with Mechanics Bank for over a decade, started in 2015 in California, and saw this location and was eager to come and make a deposit. Customer parking was well marked as was the entrance/exit, though I did need directing to the doors when I left the building. Entering the building, I found the deposit slips and filling out area located centrally inside the main entrance/exit. I filled out a slip and took it to the teller with my cash and identification. The teller looked up my account number and asked some clarifying questions. Turns out I was a legacy Mechanics Bank account and they were in the process of merging fully with another bank for the location by later in the month. The teller talked to other employees and called another branch to see if my deposit could be worked on, turned out it was limited access for who could perform the deposit for legacy accounts at that point in time. Another worker came back from their lunch break and started working on it. The teller was kind and made small talk and then directed me to a waiting area as the other worker figured it out. The chair I sat in while I waited was comfy. As I waited some music played on a small boombox on a table with refreshments by the chairs. Music played included a song I recognized from a movie trailer of a movie I wanted to see releasing in theaters later in the month. As the worker progressed they kept me updated, calling me in to their office when ready. As some aspects of the merger were processing, I was told there would be a delay to next day for money availability. The handwritten deposit slip was even on a HomeStreet Bank letterhead, a reminder the merger was still in process. All of the workers I interacted with were friendly and professional.

Recently had to interact due to a weekend mistake I made, which I quickly corrected on Monday. Asked for grace to have overdraft fee reversed since I haven't had an overdraft for years and I'm on a fixed income. They had to "do research" and then came back with a no hours later. This was after having to call back on Tuesday because they were too busy on Monday to even take a message without it being a complicated procedure for them. I'd move my mortgage if I could.
