I will start out by saying I have been a Wells Fargo credit card holder for the past 19 years. In…read morethose 19 years, I have used my card every single month, made every single payment on time, to the point where my credit limit was steadily increased to $15,000. Just recently, I logged into my account as my card was rejected. There was a heading that noted "this account is closed." Fast forward, I spent 9 days and over 5 hours on the phone and in person with Wells Fargo. It took me 5 days before I could even get a hint of what may have occurred. I was repeatedly told, "I have no information, you will receive a letter that explains everything in detail." That letter provided zero detail and only eluded to "potential fraudulent activity." This boiled down to two payments to my WF account from an external bank that were insufficient. Somehow, that was deemed fraudulent. I spoke to 5-6 account specialists, as well as the "highest level" executive at WF and NO ONE was able to resolve this issue. They simply reiterated my account was permanently closed. Then had the audacity to invite me to open a new account. Lack of compassion, understanding, and zero client loyalty. Wells Fargo was our family's primary bank for nearly 2 decades, checking, savings, credit, and we will now act as quickly as we can to dissolve all other accounts. We have never been treated so poorly from a business we have been so loyal.

The banker I worked with, Cortney, was very personable and assured me that my transition to US would be easy and made sure to explain all the ins and out of the US bank (bill pay, ATM usage fees or lack thereof, and how to keep the account free). The best part of the transaction was how insanely efficient everything was. I was set up with a checking, savings, line of credit, credit card, online banking, debit card, and an auto transfer during my lunch period. The account opening was awesome in itself, but the rest of the staff has been lovely to work with. One of the worst parts about not working at a bank is actually have to consciously go to a bank to take care of transactions. These staff here are awesome with their workday friendly hours and even during busy lunch hours have a line runner to take care of non cash transactions to keep the line moving. The former credit union aficionado is now loving some US Bank.

BUT I received an inheritance (nothing huge), and naturally, I went to BoA to deposit. There was a hold put on it, and I was told it would take 10 business days (13 days total with weekends and holidays) in order to have access to those funds (my money). It also took them 30 days to get my bank card to me. I was told to use their digital app until the card came. Well, not every place allows digital wallets to be used. Though the customer service has been good (other than the angry cashier), holding someone's money for 2 weeks is absolutely ridiculous. That is not customer service. That is financial abuse!! Find a better place to go with your money, I will be.

But Affinity still services the mortgage, so I get to deal with their cheerful staff when I need something. I'm self-employed, and they worked with me to make the refi go as smoothly as it could. They also have an awesome car buying agreement with a number of local dealers. Walk in to the dealership, tell them you're an Affinity Plus customer, and they will give you a great price without haggling. I went in with a specific number in mind for the car I and features I wanted, and the credit union price was actually less than I'd been shooting for! I don't live near one of their offices but they have a good network of free ATMs and there's always the mailbox and online service. They are NON PROFIT so their aim is to get the best deal for their customers, not their shareholders and executives, and it feels like it when you walk in.

Every time I turn around something odd happens. I have two personal checking accounts, 2 saving accounts, a mortgage, a business checking and a business savings account. I am moving it all to another bank. as soon as can. An example of why: for my business, I needed a money transfer to go to CANADA on a Friday. I got all the information I needed. went back and forth with Blaze (by phone) until it was past their 3pm cutoff. So, they tell me I need to go in on Saturday. Will do. So. Saturday came and I went in to the branch immediately when it opened. I get there and they tell me I needed an appointment. And that they might not be able to get me in. Huh, that would have been nice to know. Anyway, someone didn't show up, actually nobody showed up the whole time I was there (it was crickets), and I was able to get in because of the cancellation. sure.... Anyway, I filled out everything for the transfer with a banker. I was assured the money would go out on Monday. I verified again and was reassured. ok. Monday came and I saw the money was still in my account (it was important) so I started calling them to check on it. They started asking me for more information. It went back and forth until after 3pm. So now the transfer was delayed again... turns out, it is now WEDNESDAY and my transfer is still delayed. They now want wire instructions. This is a simple transfer, they already had the information, but they are completely incompetent. I got the wire instructions, which are no different from what I have already provided. They have no procedures to make sure they ask you for the correct information the first time. They do not know how to make a transfer to Canada, which amazes me. They sent me an email, accusing me of not providing the "needed" information! I called and asked for the manager. I was told he is busy. 3 hours go by and he does not call me back. I am going in to a different branch and making the transfer again. I am not confident that they will even do it right. TERRIBLE. Bad for my business. The staff used to be helpful and knowledgeable. Now I feel they are just incompetent, rude and smug about it. I am sorry to go through the process of changing to a different bank, but I need to do this ASAP.

I stopped in in on 27 June to see if Blaze could assist w a short term mortgage... recast mortgage. Where I buy a house and once mine sells I apply all that sale money to the mortgage; nearly paying it off. I felt there was a lot of back and forth and several "nobody is in the office to help you". It was quite frustrating...this went on for about six weeks. I even lost out on one home as my realtor wanted a Pre-Approval letter...and after several weeks, I still didn't have one. I was taken aback when a month ago my mom went in to her Wisconsin credit union and handed me a letter within a half hour of her leaving home!!! So why after six weeks would my own bank of nearly three decades not be able to provide me with such document? It was a rather disappointing experience.

The only down side (which doesn't bother me much it helps me save anyways) is that since it is a credit union they are closed on weekends so my paychecks (which process on saturdays) don't go through until Monday morning when they open. Or, per usual, any payments or charges made on the weekend don't clear until Monday as well. But like I said it doesn't bother me much. I highly recommend this bank if you are an employee or family member of an employee. The interest rates for loans are also fairly low and reasonable. They also have cash back rewards and atm fee returns.
