Zero for office/billing/phone services. Beware--this medical outfit 1. block you account if, as they claim, it is unpaid. 2. put a hold for hours, and in the end you can only leave a voice message. I have been trying for weeks to sort out my co pay for MOHS procedure. According to United United Health it should have been no more than the usual $ 25 copay per visit. According to US dermatology partners it is nearly $ 500! I have by now spend five (5) hours on the phone (they make you wait a very long time), once even with a helpful United Health Care consultant. We got nowhere. Still no appointment could be made. Frankly, if you need any type of dermatology care you will be better off elsewhere. I have no complaint about the medical expert whom I saw. But I cannot spend the rest of my life wrestling with the office and billing personnel who are the most unhelpful I have ever encountered. Goodbye to US dermatology partners. read more

Back after a 5 year absence, only because I didn't need that kind of attention. My very solid 5 star rating stands yet again. I love the folks here, the attention to detail, the no muss/no fuss kind of get it done attitude and yet friendly. They treat you like a real customer. Dr. Ruff in particular is a great doctor in whose care I am 100%+ confident in. And kudos to his assistant today, Taylor, who was great to work with. Don't come here often but would not hesitant for a second to strongly recommend the work performed here. Do not use them unless you want months of dealing with a scamming billing department. I paid $400 over what I was required to pay out of pocket before I realized my bill never seemed to go down. Their statements are so confusing you can't even figure out how much you've paid if you don't keep track. They threatened collections unless I signed up for a payment plan immediately...and then "forgot" to cancel the payment plan after I figured out they owed me money. WEEKS ago they were "sending the issue to their management department" and now I have to call again. I doubt I'll get my money back without threatening a lawsuit. The only star is because I'm happy with the results of my surgery. The office staff is difficult to get in contact with, and don't return phone calls Either. I never leave reviews but I was shocked at my experience with this company. read more

I did a previous review about the incredibly painful procedure (without pain medicine) and billing issues. I'd like to provide an update so others can avoid the same frustrating issue.... On Tuesday, April 18, I spoke with Shana in billing to get a total owed. It was $1091.84. Within a week I had paid the bill in full. I called and had them remove my card on file, which they did because they verified I had a zero balance. And if you've worked with this group you KNOW they aren't removing your card if you owe anything. Three days later I received a bill for $275. I called, the billing person couldn't find the bill. She was adamant that I owed nothing. Then, after looking around, she found a second account, one for the facility fee. That was the $275. I haven't paid it yet (it is just now 30 days). Today, I get a call from their billing office during school, and they left a message. When I called back, Lilly couldn't find where I owed anything, and once I told her it was another account she was able to locate it. I told her they would get paid (and they absolutely will), but not today, on the 5th. The longer I thought about it the more it irritated me, so I called back and spoke to Amy. I wanted to request that they not phone during school hours. She said she couldn't tell them when to call. I explained the situation, and she condescendingly told me that "pre-treatment estimates were just estimates, and more might be owed." I reminded her that this wasn't a pre-treatment estimate, it was after all of the EOBs had been processed. I assured her that the bill would be paid (all others have been paid on time), but I had done my due diligence by proactively calling to get a total, then promptly paying it. If their billing staff doesn't know I have a second account, how would I? She put me on hold, and came back and said, "I'll note your account to phone after 4:00." Why couldn't that have been taken care of in the first five minutes of the phone call? The bottom line is that their billing practices are vulture-like. They will not apologize for an error, and act like I'm trying to pull something. This is not where I'll be spending my money. read more

Do not go to US Dermatology Clinic or have Dr. Ann Blake as your Dr. - Your life depends on it. Dr. Blake was supposed to give me a body scan, to look for cancerous skin lesions, however she did a terrible job. She checked a few into my hair, where it parts, and she did a sloppy job everywhere else on my body. Dr. Blake has terrible bedside manner - I asked her a question about a skin condition called actinic keratosis and how she can tell the flakiness on my nose was actinic keratosis and she responded flippantly, "Because I AM THE DOCTOR." I was appalled by her lack of professionalism and her being unkind with her tone and . I am also appalled by the mishandling of my phone calls and concerns with the US Dermatology office manager. I have placed a total of 5 phone calls into the office manager at US Dermatology office and yet have any of my calls returned. read more

I had an appointment today with Dr Blake for a full body skin check and evaluation of two separate skin issues. First, she went over my skin very quickly and said I don't have skin cancer. Then, I asked about the second condition. She dismissed me by saying the second condition was not cancerous or even precancerous so it wasn't of concern to her. I told her I understood, but that it was "of concern" to me. I asked what my options were for treatment and asked for her to confirm a diagnosis (Hello? What am I paying you for?) Dr. Blake told me the condition was a "type of porokeratosis, but not the precancerous type, so (again) it wasn't (her) concern." I truly wanted (and still want) to understand what is going on with my skin- including an accurate diagnosis with a treatment plan. She told me I only had a couple of spots, and they weren't a big deal. I explained that I had more spots, they just weren't that noticeable. When I pointed out some of the spots I was referring to, she admitted that she missed them while doing my "skin check." She then gave me two options for treatment. Both of which I've been told are not effective, long-term solutions. When I asked about a third treatment option I had heard of she told me she does not know about it and would not prescribe it. I said ok and asked about another treatment option I had heard of. Again, she reacted very negatively to my question. She told me, "I'm the physician. Not you. And I told you your two options." Honestly.... there's no reason to be rude nor feel insulted when a patient asks a question/asks you to do the job they're paying you for. How am I supposed to feel any peace of mind regarding her "no skin cancer" diagnosis, when she admittedly missed multiple other spots on my skin, refused to discuss treatment options, and couldn't give me a specific diagnosis? Other doctors at this location may be great, but I would not recommend Dr Blake. She was not thorough during the skin check and was beyond the point of dismissive.... rather, I'd describe her and her nurse as rude. read more

Giving 5 stars because of Judy Ky and Dr. Bortnick. Really long story short, I have a cyst directly under my left clavicle. I've spent over $2,500 out of pocket and have had surgery 3 times. Needless to say, my cyst has returned again and I had began to feel hopeless (since the last center treated me like I was a burden etc.) but then, I met Judy Ky and Dr. Bortnick, They expressed empathy and compassion that I have not experienced. Both asked all the right questions and answered any questions I had with excellent detail. I was completely taken care of during both consultations and am feeling hopeful I won't have to live with this cyst forever! Staff was also very kind and professional! This place is horrible. I had a 1:30 appointment and I waited for an hour. There were 8 other patients waiting in the waiting room with me and 4 more in line. Every single person that came through the door says they are here to see the same doctor as I am.... I wonder how many other people they scheduled at the same time. The receptionists are pretty rude and the paperwork they have you fill out is ridiculous. They also make you put down credit card information and make a copy of your card. I've never had a doctors office do that. When Dr. Graves actually saw me he talked with me for literally a minute and that was it! Needless to say, I don't think ill be coming back here... read more

This place was okay at best. I had an appointment at 1:45pm with Dr. Blake. I originally scheduled my appointment through Zocdoc and filled out my paperwork ahead of time to speed up the process since I was a new patient. Well when I got there I had to fill out the same paperwork again...when I told the receptionist I already filled it out on Zocdoc she just huffed and puffed and said I'll have to fill it out again. After I was done filling out the paperwork I sat there waiting for awhile. I noticed this place is pretty busy! I probably saw over 15-20 people in a 30 minute time-span check into their appointments and sit in the waiting area to be seen. I didn't get called back until 30-35 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment. I saw Dr. Blake for probably no more than 5 minutes total. She's very nice but the scheduling and time waiting/seeing doctor ratio is terrible. read more

I had a few areas that were of concern so I asked around and this place was highly recommended. I can see why! I called for an appointment on a Monday and I got in the very next week. I so wish I could remember my Dr's name because he was wonderful. He explained everything, recommended a few options and then took a few samples of the problem areas. (Luckily, they came back as sun spots and not any sort of cancer.) The waiting area was very clean and well laid out. When I arrived, it was pretty busy but they worked through everyone surprisingly quickly. The technician and the Dr were very knowledgeable and nice. He explained that he is also the lab Dr that analyzes the samples and just recently went into practice too. Again, he was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable. Since this was the first time seeing a dermatologist, they also did a full body scan to see if there were any other issues and took a few pictures to compare over the coming years. If you have any skin issues and are scared to go.... don't be scared. They were so nice and very informative. 4 stars? The parking was a little odd and they are on the second floor (they have elevators and nice stairs.) Great huge sign that faces the road but once you get into the parking area, I was a little lost without their clear directions they gave me over the phone. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Angel every year for 3 years for routine skin cancer checks, and she performed some minor surgery for me. I was very satisfied with Dr. Angel, but the appointment/front desk personnel have been very rude when I call to make appointments. The first time was about two years ago, when I was told that There were no patient records for me, but I seemed to cancel my appointments, there was a record of that...which befuddled me. I hung up and called back and had my insurance records/ receipts that showed that I had been there and gave this information to the next person I called for an appointment. This person did get me an appointment, but when I got there, the appt. was for the wrong service. This week I called to schedule my annual skin check up and again was told they could not find my records but I had canceled appointments in the past...again, confused as to how I had no records but that issue had been found. I was told that I would be called back when they found my records, but of course I was not called. I thought this must be an issue just for me, but I overheard, while at the office for an appt., the front desk person say the same exact thing to another patient. I tried to talk to Dr. Angel about this but she dismissed it. I did cancel one appt and reschedule another appointment with Dermatology and Skin Care Center before Dr. Angel became my doctor. read more

All they care about is money. As a new patient I showed up 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. To my surprise all the paperwork was regarding money. Not a single health question. They didn't even ask for my primary care physician. Concerning to say the least. Their policy, which they do not tell you when you setup the apt, is to keep your credit card on (paper) file. Their reason? "Just in case." I have insurance and HSA. They refused to bill my HSA for the $30 co-payment, instead forcing me to pay out of pocket thus losing me the savings I receive for using HSA. Every single other doctor and specialist I have seen hasn't even asked for the co-pay upfront, instead billing HSA because that's how it's supposed to work. I attempted to explain this to the receptionist but her only response was "it's our policy" (she repeated this 3 times like a litany). She said, "It's our policy," in the way of a person who says it often. I never would have made an appointment at Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center had I known about their costly office policy. When I received the news, I would have left then and there. Unfortunately it is also their policy to charge you if you don't cancel at least 24 hours in advance, which is of course standard and completely reasonable in normal circumstances. However learning that you can't use your health savings account but instead have to use a credit card that they keep on (paper) file, is anything but normal circumstances. I was out the same amount of money whether I saw the doctor or not, which was probably why they don't warn new patients about their policy when the appointment is being made. What a scam they have going on. Despite my concerns regarding lack of patient care and refusal to bill in a standard way, I sat waiting for them to call me back for 48 minutes at which point I gave up and left, accepting that I was out the cancellation fee. However considering that their paperwork has NOTHING regarding patient health, instead only financial questions, I think I escaped Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center at the lowest cost to my health and my wallet possible. read more

I have been coming here for YEARS and am a little concerned about their front by desk. They opened a new location off of 135th St, but do not appear to have enough staff to even service the Granada location. I was at the front of the line to check in and stood there for 9 mins before anyone could acknowledge me or would check me in for my scheduled follow-up appointment. (Mind you, she was not on the phone or helping other patients.) By the time they said I can help the next person, there was a line of 7 people behind me. Like the doctors here, however feel that the front office is just as important when it comes to service. BE CAREFUL! This place is very poorly run. The staff in the Lawrence office clearly did not keep proper records. I just received a billing statement from 2018 for over $400 with over 25 individual invoices ranging in date from 2018 to 2020. I am now going to have to reconcile all my credit card statements and my checking account to be sure none of these charges were actually paid for. Any business that takes two years to invoice is not a well-run establishment. I would be careful and make sure you know exactly what your insurance will cover and insist on paying for each office visit instead of trusting the record-keeping of the business manager. You don't want to end up with any surprises several years later. Yikes! For this reason alone I will never go back. read more

The dermatologist I met with is good but their office staff and the way they get money from their patients is below par. They will require a credit card number from you even if you have insurance or want to pay cash. They have billed me for services I didn't receive and will charge my credit card number if I don't pay. I have called the office numerous times to discuss these charges no one from the office will call me back. I will most likely have to take time off work and visit them in person. I will not be going back to them for any future services. read more

This place is terrible. I've gone here for a few years and I won't go any longer. First, they scheduled me to have a spot removed from my face. I told them repeatedly I wanted a plastic surgeon to close my incision since it was on my face. They assured me 3 times I would have a plastic surgeon close. When I got there, I was told that the plastic surgeon was in fact there that day, but I was not on his schedule and he would not be closing me. I canceled an rescheduled with another practice. I did keep my yearly appointment which I scheduled on a Friday afternoon and when I showed up for that appointment I was told that doctor doesn't work on Fridays any longer and I would need to reschedule. I asked why nobody called to tell me that and they said they didn't know. I asked if someone else could see me since I already took a half day off work and they said "no, you'll have to reschedule." I've always had a long wait (30 minutes or more every time I go there) and the customer service is always horrible. Definite thumbs down. read more

I have been visiting their Skin Center. Numerous visits. Had a peel and micro-abrasion, but still not the results I was looking for. The esthetician referred me onto one of the dermatologists. I made that appointment, was charged along with my insurance and she said I didn't need to see her, but rather an esthetician or their plastic surgeon. What??? Basically, they have 4 'departments' and none of them talk...or work together. They just keep referring you back and forth to each other and you keep paying every time you have to visit each one. My initial consultant told me one thing, when I saw the esthetician she refuted what I had been told, then ended up sending me to the dermatologist. In addition, I was looking for some skin care products, and hate being oversold....but there was no over sell here...they couldn't even take the time to sit down with me to recommend a skin care regiment. I felt Very rushed, the staff was more interested in talking amongst themselves than to their patients. So, I went away without any product purchase. After my appointment with the derm, I left their office and made an appointment with another dermatologist group in town. They assured me they would do better.... ANYTHING will be better than the run around I experienced here. I hardly ever do a review, but my experience here was so bad, I simply had to share my experience. read more

I had a fairly good experience with Angie Bosch, one of the two PA's a couple of months prior to my visit, but my skin issue had returned so I made another appointment. I was told I would have to see the other PA, Andy Dean which was fine. When I told him I had my allergic reaction after putting on a new lipstick he asked me nothing about the ingredients, even though I told him I printed it off the manufacturer website and brought it. Instead he put an allegry patch test on my back and told me to come back in two days. Fine, except the office staff was rude about booking me as the schedule was full that day. I had to wait 20 minutes while office staff conferred with each other. When I came back in for the follow up I was told that no reaction had appeared yet and to come back in another 2 days. The fact that this was a possibility was not told to me at first. Of course, I was being charged individually for each visit. Again, had the issues with getting my appointment with the office. I come back in again to be told there is not reaction except maybe the smallest reaction to one of the patches. I was given of list of products that contained this and was told to avoid them and sent away. That ingredient was not in the lipstick that caused the reaction nor was it in any other product I use. He would have known that if he was paying attention. My problems didn't end there. I had 3 different issues with billing charging my card at the wrong time or the wrong amounts for these visits. read more

Dr. Nuebauer is such a great doctor. She is so knowledgeable and knows all the latest technology! Highly recommend her!

They should have a disclaimer: "When setting appointments, please note that your appointment time is a check in time only. Your actual appointment time is your arrival expectation, and not necessarily when the doctor will be available." While I think the doctor I saw here for almost 10 years is wonderful, their practice is horribly run. They consistently run 45 minutes - 1 hour late, without giving you any notification of the delay. Staff is aloof and disinterested. They do not respect patient's time. However, you will lose your appointment time if you are not on time. No matter how great the doc, the frustration is not worth it. There's plenty of great dermatologists in Kansas City that run a much better practice. read more

I began this journey with arriving early for my first appointment and filling out paperwork that was definitely all about financial agreements. No where did it ask for my referring Dr etc. It did however demand a credit card as hostage for payment for what turned out to be at their own failures in billing. I asked about this in length as I am not comfortable at all about anyone having credit card info and was told it was "just in case" This turned out to be a terrible oversight as they charged it without a single word of warning at all. If I had even owed this amount I would understand a tiny bit however they charged my credit card after failing to bill either of my insurances (yes I have 2) I called and called about this and was just told they would look into it. I was forced to cancel this credit card to stop these erroneous charges. After the poor care on top of this, I never made another appointment and moved on (or so I thought). Out of nowhere I received a bill for a random missed appointment fee of $50. I called again repeatedly and was treated very very rudely and was promised they would look into it. Surprise... no one ever called me back. However they were prompt to make a mark on my credit for a charge I never had a clue about. Now, lets's get into the care I received. I seen my several times minimum with a very extreme unknown rash that was spreading rapidly up my foot and ankle and covered my hands so badly that they were raw and bleeding. The Dr took scrapings that day of my hands and told me it was fungal and walked out (Did not scrape the foot area) She gave me prescriptions for shampoo, cream and pills. I returned and the hands were clearing however the foot and ankle had gotten much worse so at my request she took a biopsy that day. On my next appt I was told that the results were inconclusive and they did not know what it was and to keep using the cream. Next return appointment it had gotten alot worse. Dr took another biopsy that day again. (Before the next appointment I asked for paper copy of the results which mentioned 2 things it could be) Next appointment I was told it was still inconclusive (WHAT?) Instead of going over the options from the biopsy she flat out accused me of not controlling myself and scratching and she berated me in front of other staff. I was humiliated and embarrassed. I promptly made an appointment with another Dermatologist in the are who on my very first appointment looked at it and knew exactly what it was (option #1 on my biopsy) He gave me shots into the area and cream to ease the healing and discomfort. Low and behold I went back only 1 more time and it was gone. I was not berated or belittled, however I was treated with dignity and compassion. As it turns out I have a life long condition I must watch for but I know what it is and how to deal with it. read more

I will not be going back. I went in for a skin scan and a few other issues. The nurse didn't want to hear what I had to say and kept interrupting me to move on to the next question as if I was was wasting her time. I have been dealing with my skin issue for years and needed to explain to them that I have web-md'd the heck out of my issue and that I had already done their prescribed recommendations for over a year, and that clearly none of it worked. So instead of testing me for allergies or doing any other doctor related things they prescribed me the same pills I've been taking for the past 5 years for the same issue that don't work. I even told them I had those pills and that treatment prescription and I have been doing it for years and it didn't work. I chose this place, I don't have Medicaid, I have good insurance, this place was fired before I left the building. I will spend my money elsewhere. Dr. Blake was my doctor here. She seemed very knowledgeable of her profession if you want to go in and have sorority girl smooth silky skin, but if you have an undiagnosed issue, her and her nurse are not the people to see. I was able to get to the door, past the "wait here" sign and face the top of a young woman's head who spoke to me without looking at me. When I finally got her attention, I gave her my paperwork as a new patient. The form said that checking your race and ethnicity was required by the State. Wrong. It also required you to agree to having their full fee charged to your credit card if not paid within 30 days, whatever it might be and without consideration of their contracts with insurance companies. I simply added "after 30 days written notice" and they said the form was a legal document and could not be altered at all - but they would of course notify me in writing. They also wanted a lifetime consent to authorize payment from a Medigap policy. Hmmmm. No wonder the building is so fancy. No thanks. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Jeff J Graves concerning a spot on my nose following an injury. He immediately diagnosed me as having Basal Cell Carcinoma no questions asked, how long has this spot been there, when did you first notice it, etc. He said it was an unmistakable, classic case of basal cell carcinoma and I would need MOHS surgery as soon as possible. He diagnosed me by sight, there was no question what so ever. He told me someone would be calling me to schedule the surgery within the next 7 days. He told me it is standard procedure to do a biopsy to rule out melanoma however he was certain that it was Basal Cell and not a melanoma. He told me he would be scraping skin cells from the bridge of my nose much like shaving. I asked him if I would have a scar from the MOHS surgery and he told me yes but the alternative in not removing the cancer would be loss of my nose. That evening I changed the bandage on my nose and found that he had removed a large chunk of skin from the bridge of my nose which left a hole, he did NOT scrape or shave the spot, he dug a chunk of skin out of my nose. Four days after being told I could lose my nose from this cancer I receive a call from his nurse who abruptly blurts out harshly "the results of your biopsy are benign" I ask what does that mean, she said "you don't have cancer" I asked what about my nose, the doctor cut a large amount of flesh from my nose, she stated "well that's a cosmetic issue now". 6 weeks, several visits and injections into my nose Dr. Graves told me that his associate Dr.Bortnick would repair the place on my nose where he had removed the flesh, false again. That plastic surgeon that Dr. Graves set me up with spent less than 3 minutes and said to me "all faces have a characteristic of some sort just wait a few months to see if the area fills in and if it doesn't then come back. Dr. Graves grossly and irresponsibly misdiagnosed me. He continued to tell me things to pacifying me leading me to believe his reassurance that my nose would be fixed. Clearly Dr. Graves is not taking responsibility for what he has done and is now making excuses and twisting the facts. He has caused damage to my face because of a misdiagnosis and he lied to me about the type and process of the biopsy he was performing. He is not going to fix what he has caused. My skin situation is far worse now than when I came to him seeking advice on a very small spot on my nose. This has been a nightmare. I pray that no other people fall victim to this doctor. read more
