More Than Words is a nonprofit bookstore that sells new and used books while supporting young…read morepeople ages 16-24 who are system-involved, including youth from foster care, court-involved backgrounds, housing insecurity, and more. The young people help run the store, learn job skills, and work toward personal and career goals--and it truly shows in the care and pride behind the space. The shop itself is small but mighty. I walked out with four excellent-condition used books (three of which had already been on my TBR list) and somehow also added two cookbooks because... no regrets. Everything was very affordable, and it felt good knowing my purchase was directly supporting youth in the local community. If you're near one of their locations (I believe there's another in the Boston area), I highly recommend stopping in or checking out their online storefront. You get grouped off to different stations (shoes, big sort, sizing, or building outfits, etc.), and by the end of the two hour shift, the staff is able to summarize everything each station completed. You can see and hear the immediate impact you're making on children at risk of clothing insecurity in the Greater Boston Area. It was super easy signing up online as a volunteer group, and I couldn't recommend it more.

In addition to being the office of over 40 nonprofits, it also has meeting space available for other nonprofits to use (you do not have to be a tenant). I've been to meeting here sponsored by Tech Networks of Boston, Women in Development (fundraising), The Communications Network, Public Relations Society of America, and Third Sector New England. The event space is great, but my one warning is to triple check the microphones with the nonprofit center events staff if you have speakers. About half the times I've been to events there, audio problems occurred, so I always sit in the front to be sure I can hear. I'm jealous of the employees of the nonprofits in this building! What a lovely place to work!

I researched every venue I could find, over 55 in total. We couldn't afford to spend thousands of dollars, and time was running out - as were my options. Then I came across The NonProfit Center - after my initial inquiry I was contacted by Faisal and literally everything was smooth sailing from there! I took a look at the space and it was perfect, they were available the date I needed, and the price was right. Faisal answered all of my (many) questions and kept in touch to make sure there was nothing else I needed. Next time I will save myself the run-around and go here first - can't say enough good things, we had a wonderful experience!

I also added the jump house, which was a big hit. We were able to unplug it when it came time for our arts and craft for the kids, and plugged it back in when we were done with the activities. We were able to set up the tables the way we wanted so that, we can use the center for the games and activities we had planned. I booked it with Ann who is the Marketing associate, she is very professional and friendly, we stayed in contact via email up about 48 hours prior to my event. We went over the contract the day I signed, and a few days before my event to go over everything such as rules and the start/end time. I met with Frank the facilities Manager in the beginning and at the end of my event, he was also very professional and friendly. Overall the party was great, many people reached out to me on info so they can plan future events at this location. If you want to deal with professional, friendly people I'd definitely say book here. Last thing to keep in mind if you plan on setting up decor/balloons you will need to add additional time to your contract for setting up and also for cleaning up at the end of your event.

We rented the gym for our 1 year old's birthday party and it worked out great. After calling 20+ places, the Community House answered promptly and worked efficiently to ensure we could have the party less than two days later. The gym was a perfect place to hold a party for kids. They were able to run around and play out of the toy closet. We were also grateful for the chairs and tables that were made available for no extra charge. I'll definitely be remembering them for future parties and would recommend them without hesitation.

I can't stress this enough how easy it is to volunteer. The diversity of organizations as well is superb. They offer everything from food kitchens to the symphony! FFF solicits surplus or leftover food from local restaurants and farmers that would otherwise go to waste. FFF daily delivers this food to the needy people that need it usually within 24 hours of it being donated. FFF is a great nonprofit that does great things. I volunteered here once and helped them build a huge walk in refrigerator. Bravo to this fine local charity.

I've seen things that were still on sale in Dollar Tree next door for a dollar one for three dollars here. Whoever is in charge of their pricing is a garbage human. I was previously a member of the Junior League of Greenwich, CT and upon relocation to Boston I transferred membership to the JLB; the Boston-based League has a fantastic transfer committee who welcomes new members with open arms. All of the women I've met so far have been kind, open-minded and genuinely passionate about the mission of the Junior League to meaningfully contribute to the Boston community.
