Before even walking into the facility, I spoke with Tonya who was extremely helpful with getting us acquainted to the process of renting a unit. I've never rented a storage unit so I was clueless on what to expect or needed in the first place. Upon arrival, Tonya gave us a tour of the facility and the unit we wanted to rent. From the office to the units themselves, everything was so clean and well cared for. There's cameras all over the place so you can feel secure about your belongings. Plus, each renter gets a personalized pin so they know who's coming in and out. Tonya was amazing and really made my family and I feel welcomed and confident with our decision to rent here. It didn't take long for us to sign the contract. We also had a great offer through an online promotion by the company and after the promotion we would qualify for a 10% military discount! Kind of a mixed bag here. There's U-Haul the national chain and then there's the local company. May…read moreas well give you two-for-one here today. We did a local move within Abilene and went through the U-Haul website to hire some movers. That went pretty smooth. Went to pick up U-Haul's largest truck the night before. While doing the walk around, I'm noticing fluid from the front end. The young guy who's filling out the paperwork says it's fine and that "the power steering pump blew out so they 'just' replaced it." Except that the smell is distinctly antifreeze. You don't mistake that for PS pump fluid. No worries, it's local. Finish up paper work, time to hit the road. Sometimes you get a really nice truck, this wasn't one of those times. Pretty nasty inside but hey, we're not checking into a 5-star hotel. Immediately on the road, there's significant play in the steering. Like I'm in some 1950s movie and it's driving scene where the steering wheel goes back and forth an 1/4 of a turn each way before it actually moves the wheels. It's dark, the road is unfamiliar, it's a giant, nasty truck that is leaking fluid and the steering barely allows you to stay centered in your lane. Yeah. . . this is nice. That's about the size of it for the local store. Some of the employees look like they're in over their head. One you guy had a lot of mental snap (knew what he was doing), but just had too much going on around him. When I got back to the house for the night, I called the U-Haul 800 number about the condition of the truck. They were sympathetic to the problem and did get a tow truck out to pick up the truck. We did have to go pick up another which put us in a jamb because they were about to close. But we got another truck and yee-haw. All-in-all, just okay. The whole "power steering pump" story was pretty odd and unnecessary. The local store on Clack is huge with lots of trucks, yet it's got a low-end, out of control feel to it. The Nat'l side seemed fairly willing to get things done, that was good. Lest you think about going to the competition in town, don't. It's only worse in Abilene.

Asked which door she just rudely says it's closed! How are going you to close before 7pm? Then we call online and they said they lied and didn't even have a truck for us. So now we are without avoid this place and just go somewhere else
