I tried to drop something off and pick up an item from a patient having outpatient surgery. Walked right pass the girl that was supposed to "screen" people because she was too busy on her phone. I only got turned around because I asked for directions from someone and they asked if I was "screened". Which, by the way, the lady totally freaked out on me because I didn't. *eye roll* Maybe your employee shouldn't be texting and or on Facebook? I know damn well they get paid good to just sit on their a$$ and do ONLY THAT. (I know I looked into it). She also denied me access to surgery. (While looking at her phone). Horrible after 5 hours of waiting they said they didn't even put my tests in the system so the physician can see me. So I probably would have been waiting for another 5 hours. I was looking for a doctor accepting new patients and upon calling, the receptionists there were so rude. One lady asked me which department I need to be transferred to and I said it numerous amounts of time "Primary Care". She acted as if she didn't hear me, so when she asked again about the fourth time "I said I don't know. She then replied and says it is "Primary Care". I'm thinking to myself "What is wrong with you?" I just said that numerous amounts of time, but when I say I don't know, you hear that. SMH! I could go on and on, but this experience has me reconsidering going with a doctor within UAMS system, especially if I have to deal with such nonsense. When we arrived, the girl admitting us was as pleasant as a case of pneumonia. She was obviously unhappy to be there, taking her bad attitude out on visitors. We weren't told that only two visitors "per day" were allowed until AFTER passes were given to two of us which meant his daughter would not be able to visit her father that day...a real problem when he may only have days. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!!! I went to this doctor, and seen Dr. Newman, looking for help with my chronic insomnia problems, that I've been having since I was a child, and all I got back in return was how bad his sleep problems have been since HE was a kid, as well. EVERYTHING I said he rebuttal'd and used against me. He asked if I drink, and I told him "NO." Then he asked if I smoke, and if I drink caffeine and I told him "YES." He rebuttal'd with "We'll, that could be what's keeping you up. How much do you smoke?" I said "I smoke on a tobacco pipe, so it's hard to say." He said "How many times do you refill the bowl?" IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! it's never kept me awake before, unless I had just started smoking back up again, and I've been smoking again for a while now. The he told me to stop drinking caffeine past NOON! I don't get up until 10-11am! I told him "I feel like you're calling me a liar!" He says "I'm not calling you a liar. I gotta start somewhere!" I told him that all these Over The Counter" sleeping medications aren't working for me, and that I smoke medical marijuana, and that doesn't even help me sleep, and he said "I BET"!!! ADMITTING that he believes/knows that I'm having some serious sleep issues, after acting like he didn't believe me, because he has "no background information" on me. I told him that I tried Trazadone at the Behavioral Health Unit, and it didn't work, so what's he do??? He puts me on 150mg of Trazadone, that doesn't work, and that only causes a medical condition, Glaucoma, or something else that starts with a "G", especially in HIGHER DOSES!!! He wanted me to start logging down all the information about my sleeping habits, and kept telling me: "I gotta start somewhere!!!" HOW ABOUT STARTING WITH MY CHART, AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING PAPER, THAT I FILLED OUT, WHILE WAITING ON YOU FOR 30 MINUTES!!! OR ASKING SOME QUESTIONS THAT YOU CAN USE IN MY FAVOR, INSTEAD OF AGAINST ME!!!??? The last thing I told him was "Jesus Christ, I'm paying YOU!" As I hung my head. Then he said "We'll get that for you." And he stormed out of the room. That's NOT a "DOCTOR"!!! That's okay. This is NOT a threat! They are ALL going down, so. The end is at hand... Mark my words... There were some genuinely caring doctors and nurses, and that is the only reason I gave them an extra star, but overall I can not recommend this hospital. The differences between doctors and nurses who were experienced and compassionate and the ones who were inexperienced and lacked common sense were all too obvious. At a big hospital like uams, you get a smorgasbord. The different departments are not very good at coordinating with each other. Everything moves incredibly slow, and most people look overworked and in need of a vacation. My dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in March 2016. The disease progressed to stage 4 unusually fast and he went to uams ER for general muscle pain in May. 1. The ICU nurse was negligent. She gave him fluid even though he gained over 20 lbs in 3 days. She continued to robotically record his weight and the massive weight gain didn't raise a red flag with her that the patient was drowning in his own fluid. It took 3 days for her to acknowledge this very elementary fact. 2. It took a long time to get any kind of procedure, even though time is precious for cancer patients. For example, the oncologist ordered an MRI, and the procedure was done on day 3, not day 1. The biopsy was scheduled and then cancelled, meanwhile, the patient had to refrain from eating and drinking for 16 plus hours because the hospital can't give us a more concise time when the biopsy will happen. Normally, you stop consuming food and liquids 6 hours prior to the procedure. It was the equivalent of telling someone to prep for a 6 am procedure that in reality starts at 5 pm. A fentanyl patch was recommended by the doctor, but it was not recorded by the resident/fellow and we didn't get the patch until the second day after repeat inquiries. 3. If the patient pushes the call buttom, the other side usually ask what he needs, which is not useful if the patient can not articulate clearly. The common theme here is that the family members have to advocate for the patient, otherwise your love ones are lost in the system. read more

The Clinic I used the male nurse was extremely rude. I then saw 2 different Dr's, neither gave me much information, I had to ask questions. I understand it's partly my responsibility but I had to dig for information. I had a procedure @ UAMS too. 2 RN's could not find a vein to draw blood in preop, I told both where to find it. They didn't listen, both pushed the needle in, that hurts! One Dr came in before the procedure 2-3 times, no name tag, didn't introduce himself. Finally he did, his name tag was in his lab coat pocket. How was I to know who he was? After the procedure I was given after care instructions. Was never asked how I was feeling, nothing to drink, left by myself! I not told how to get lab results. I called, got the runaround, after 3 weeks the Dr called. The lab, pathology, patient advocates,, nobody would give me results. Nobody returned messages as I was told they would. Find another Dr & hospital for health care. I'm looking for a replacement for both. This is not healthcare! read more

Another hospital in town that happens to be the only one anywhere near my house made us pretty angry when we used their services to deliver our first child. Our second was born at UAMS, and since then, we've used them every time we need hospital services. He had to go into the NICU for a week, and everyone was so compassionate, encouraging, and ... They let us help Beta Test a system they had called Angel Eyes where they put a webcam on your child in his incubator, so that even if I went home to get some rest, I could log in and see what he's doing, who's taking care of him, etc. It was so helpful and reassuring. Deborah in the NICU took such good care of him... She made us feel like she had love for him too, not just a duty to care for him. When you're going through the hardest thing you've ever had to deal with in your life, such things are really appreciated. My wife had eye surgery on Thursday, and it went over fine. The doctors are patient and friendly, the nurses are supportive and helpful. They also have an online chart system that allows you to see test results (though you might not know what to make of them) as the hospital receives them. If they change an appointment, or are able to scoot you up, they let you know electronically. I'll continue to return, but only as needed. In fact, as much as I love this place, I hope never to return! read more

Everyday I was there I got lunch anywhere from 1-3 hours AFTER they said I was supposed to get it. I had to ask for medication for nausea for HOURS before I finally got it. My discharge medications were all screwed up, I was never gotten back to as to why I had to be on 4 Lovenox injections a day for SIX MONTHS unnecessarily and after paying $100-200 a month for the past 6 months, they sent me to collections. Hospitilized for over a week and was treated amazingly. Nurses and doctors were fantastic and the atmosphere was beautiful. The follow up clinics are why I didn't give 5 stars. It's hard to get appointments, talk to nurses, and get paperwork filled out, but the hospital is fantastic. read more

I also advised them I had a total hysterectomy and they still gave me a pregnancy test. I am SO SO SO disappointed with the conditions, attention and care this Teaching Hospital has. The nursing staff for the 6th floor is horrendous, Doctors are confused and Housekeeping is practically nonexistent. Horrible place to be people, because of my wife's stay we have had to change our lives drastically to avoid this and other Arkansas hospitals. I left JRMC in Pine Bluff Arkansas to come to Uams, around 3 pm today and it's 8:32 haven't seen a Doctor no test results or nothing. They sent off for Medical Records around 7 pm, come back in the room around 8 pm saying someone sent for Medical Records, but instead of sending it to JRMC they send it to Medical Records here at Uams, so we still waiting, they attitudes are horrible, I called for help with the help button my daughter breathing was off, a nurse answered and asked what's wrong I'm saying my daughter needs a nurse, instead of coming, she ask me for what. Like this hospital have gotten so bad to its pitiful, We could of stayed in Pine Bluff for this Treatment! I'll never recommend Uams again! read more

If I could give a rating of less than one star, I WOULD. The ICU nurses treat the patient like a BODY rather than a person. This was, by far, the WORST hospital experience I have ever witnessed. My husband was in the UAMS ICU, restrained on a respirator, after a hernia repair for weeks! No bed bath - the entire room reeked of necrotic tissue/stench. We are FIVE MONTHS post surgery, two subsequent hospitalizations for serious infections later and STILL not resolved. If the infection gains strength and goes to the mesh, surgery will be required to remove it! GUARANTEED it will NOT be at UAMS! I personally witnessed ICU nurses playing games on their phone and reading paperback books while - at least my husband - was not even being bathed! Contracted STAPH infection in the ICU. Surgeon looked at photos I sent him said, "Looks like it might be inflamed." (PUS seeping through the staples) I took him to the AHH for his infection but they wouldn't touch him. The ER doc said, "This (hands circling my husband abdomen) is a mess and wherever this came from needs to fix it." He was taken by ambulance back to UAMS. He was treated again last week (5 mos. post surgery) by IV abx at UAMS and was hurriedly discharged while a full bag of Vancomycin hung on the IV pole. My advice: STAY AWAY! You may walk in - but you may NOT walk out! My husband's infection has abscessed, ruptured, squirting out blood and pus. Is that what YOU want for yourself or your loved one? Now, to add insult to injury, they are billing us for the deductible co-pay for their lazy ICU staff's filthiness. NOT ANOTHER PENNY. That's what they build courthouses for. read more

I've had the unfortunate opportunities which required me to spend 5 nights at the UAMS Hospital. The nursing staff was exceptional. My first stay was a couple of weeks ago after undergoing an "awake trach" & a throat biopsy. Again, the nursing staff should be rated A+ because not only did they care for you as a patient but they also served as excellent advocates. I visited UAMS for a CT scan on Wednesday, March 6th. The Radiologist's last name was Fordyce & she was fantastic sharing information & appropriate instructions. Unfortunately, the initial results from the CT scan were apparently not of a positive nature. Radiology called my ENT Dr. on Thursday morning &they then called my spouse. We were not ordered but we were compelled to go the ER at UAMS for an "emergency MRI." The ENT's office indicated that my ENT Dr. had placed an order into the system for the MRI & in that manner, the ER people would be ready & prepared for me when we arrived. We arrived at UAMS ER at 1:00pm. We waited in an ER "patient room" for 6 1/2 hours before the MRI test was conducted. After which, I was admitted into the hospital although I did not request this action nor did I appreciate not being told "why" I was being made to spend the night. I asked to speak to the Resident Dr. at 8:00pm after being informed that I was admitted on an NPO status. This made no sense to me at all. There was no reason to be placed on NPO status but the Dr. did not respond to my request to meet. Five hours later, at 1:00am, I informed the nursing staff that I would be leaving the hospital @ 2:00 IF the Dr. did not come and speak with me & my spouse. After a full 6 hour wait @ 1:58am, the Dr. arrived. We had a less than reasonable discussion & in the end, the Dr. admitted that someone made a mistake & she lifted the NPO order. Obviously, this made no difference as there was no food service at this time of night. IF nothing else, at least the Dr. explained that I was "scheduled" for two procedures in the morning & they thought I needed to spend the night. I did have an "Echocardiogram" at 8:00am Friday morning. Of course the results were perfect as I visit my Heart Dr. every 90 days & the "Echo's" have always been perfect. The head Neurosurgeon visited me in the hallway after my Echo test & informed me that I would be having a 2nd MRI in order to have a comparison/contract view with the 1st MRI. I was informed that I had apparently suffered a mild stroke during my earlier 5-day stay at the hospital. He also told me that he thought I had a tumor in my brain and the 2nd MRI would give them a more definitive idea of what was going on in my brain. Transportation arrived & took me back up to my room to await the 2nd MRI. We then waited for over 7 hours only to be told that I would not be having a 2nd MRI because there were too many already scheduled. I was sick of the philosophy of "hurry up & wait" so we chose to leave UAMS while we could. We departed the hospital @ 5:00. The inordinate amount of "wait time" is completely ridiculous. The aloofness, arrogance, & uncommunicative behavior by the Dr.'s is totally unacceptable. Their incompetence & lack of communication skills contributed to a very unpleasant experience. Again, I will reiterate that the nursing staff at UAMS is fantastic. They all deserve a rating of A+ especially because of their advocacy for the patients under their care. The questionable Dr.'s more than deserve a rating of D- due to their lack of communication skills & their unwillingness to spend time with the patients. I am in the process of writing a letter to the State Medical Review Board to explain the "roller coaster ride" of this past week. Good luck to you IF you have to visit UAMS. It will NOT be our choice of hospitals in the future. read more

My sister is in her last week of pregnancy. Her contractions have been nonstop for nearly 5 hours now and they sent her home the first time cause she was only dilated to a 1. She returned because of the unbearable pain the contractions were causing,. The contractions were 5 minutes apart at this time but they still told her to go home and come back in 4 hours to check her dilation. Upon returning they haven't done anything for her pain, and have said they will send her back home because she's only dilated to a 3.all the while she's constantly having contractions. Oh but let mf crackhead bill show up for the 8th time this week and he's given every luxury and kindness from all the staff. Fuck this place and their ho moms. read more

ED is the temple of doom. They let patients with obvious signs of heart attack sit there for hours. Patients who go in for severe bleeding are told to transfer from bed to wheelchair with no regard to bleeding on the floor. Nurses will say ES will clean it up. Totally unpredictable how your experience or treatment will be. It all depends who happens to he working the shift, whether that be the nurses, dr's, and janitors. If you have a baby be prepared for half the staff to ignore you and the other half to be a different person coming into your room and saying often contradictory statements from the last person. One nurse ignored my wife and newborn nearly her entire shift. Not only did she not bring my wife any medication despite asking repeatedly being asked to buy she also claimed in my daughters charts that my daughter was having symptoms that were none existent that the nurse could not have any knowledge of as she hardly entered the room. The same nurse also never made sure any trays were removed so they began to pile up quickly. There were so many more issues like some woman janitor barging in and throwing bleach water all over the floor of my wife and daughters unswept room and leaving without saying a word but if I kept on listing every awful example of how horrible this hospital is I'd be here for far longer than I care to keep dwelling on the awful experience. In summation, some of the staff are great but its really hit or miss on who you will get and more than likely you will get someone awful. The place is gross and isn't cleaned properly. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone I didn't have a deep hatred for. read more

My wife had broken her arm, so we went to the ER. We were helped quickly in the beginning, but we had to weight for hours to get help. She was in pain and we told the staff we needed something to hold the arm. After two hours she was still in pain and no help. After two hours we got help and the nurses were really helpful and concerned. Hoped they would be quicker, because she was in real pain and could not move her arm. I hope this was just a bad day experience. read more

Other than a few missteps in appointment scheduling and procedure/testing planning, I would not hesitate to use UAMS as a hospital of choice. Every staff member encountered at every level in every department was professional, compassionate, caring, empathetic, helpful, and accommodating to our needs. This is a very large hospital, so parking is a bit confusing the first few times, but on the plus side, the pay kiosks provide 7-day passes for ten bucks if you have a friend or relative admitted and you will be visiting regularly. read more

The patient who was supposed to a fall risk the bed alarm was turned off we came in at 4 am and he was on side of bed with BM all over him and floor no nurses to be found, no bedside manners at all nurse would come in and not even wake up all the way to put pills in his mouth, then when we first got into room it was not clean I have pics, and he is a mersa patient and they come in with vitals signs stuff and place a regular cloth one they used on everyone else and then take to next patient so they could be passing that to your family members, it should be a disposable one so there is no cross contamination!!!!! Also supposed to be doing In's and Outs and it has not once been written down and they have never emptied or offered to help him to bathroom!! I would never bring a patient here again !!!! On Tuesday I went to see my pcp who told me I might have a virus or could be an upper respiratory infection. She advised if I wasn't better in 4-5 days or got worse than to send/leave her a message. On Thursday, I saw my new psychiatrist, who saw me sick and asked me if I needed to go to the er. I said no and we continued with our session. This morning, I woke up vomiting yellow mucus, barely being able to breathe. Coincidentally my pcp is out sick today. As well as other doctors in her office, so the next best thing, since my symptoms are now worse, was to go and be seen in the ER. The treatment I received from two of your doctors and the nurse was not only deplorable but highly disrespectful. The first doctor examined me and remembered me from 3/16. He ordered some X-rays and asked me why I was there since I saw a doctor yesterday. Apparently he didn't like my answer and passed me on to another doctor who addressed me as Ms. Johnson, which is incorrect, and told me I may not remember him but he remembered me. He asked me the exact same question as the previous doctor. Why did I come to the emergency room when I saw a doctor yesterday and I was fine but today I'm reporting I've been sick a week. Again, I gave the same answer. Again, this doctor disappears as well. Then the nurse comes in with paperwork and prescriptions. None of which are for antibiotics. I actually had to ask the nurse what was going on, what do I have? Because my pcp lead me to believe if I was getting worse, it was an upper respiratory infection that I would need an antibiotic. The nurse advised me my WBC was below the normal range so I had nothing going on but a virus. She rushed through the paperwork and actually told me, "if you get worse, don't come back here, you need to make an appointment with your pcp, this was not an emergency and that's all the emergency room deals with". I was in shock and appalled by everyone's treatment. As, she was straightening things up to leave the room, I had to ask her to take out the IV line she had started. She stated she had forgotten it and wouldn't have remembered until she was down the hall with another patient doing something else. My former pcp, Tricia Moses, recommended rheumatologist, Dr. Columbus Brown, because the ones at UAMS were backed up almost a year long wait list. I took his labs he ran showing my lupus diagnosis to Dr. West last week who said she read them and uploaded them into my files. There seems to be a misunderstanding amongst your doctors that I'm apparently so stupid I would take lupus drugs damaging my body when I don't have lupus. There have been tests done behind my back and put in my files by doctors, who aren't trained at running rheumatology tests, stating I don't have lupus. The response I gave to both doctors this morning asking why I'm suddenly sick and what did the doctor that I saw yesterday say. Well since she is a psychiatrist, she simply asked if I needed to go to the ER. Whether she put in her notes that I was physically ill at the appointment is of no consequence since she does not treat that type of illness. However, your physicians have taken a dislike to me off of tests they shouldn't have run without my permission in the first place and tests they don't know how to run correctly Unless they are claiming to be rheumatologist. So off of their own misguided and inflated arrogance, they label me and in their small mindedness brush me aside like I'm some crack head looking for pain medication. I haven't been to your ER since March/April of 2016. Before then would have been in 2015. So since I don't come to your ER on a regular basis, I really can't fathom any other reason that doctors and nurses in your employ would have such appalling behavior and make such inflammatory and uninformed comments to a patient. At this point, since your doctors and nurses have asked me not to return, then that's what I will do. While I can not find the labs I gave to Dr. West on mychart, I will be happy to resubmit them again. Although, I am requesting an apology from the doctors and nurse who I saw today, as there is no excuse for such abhorrent behavior towards any patient being seen in your ER. I have been to various different departments at UAMS trying to figure out a serious chronic illness including: Neurology, Dermatology, and now Rheumatology. The neurologist I see is very often on vacation for months at a time and very hard to get in touch with when she is there. Appointments are rescheduled without approval or notice. Dermatology is a scattered mess who honestly don't seem to know what they're doing when you enter, even when you tell them why you're there. They also have a tendency on not recording your insurance so you end up billed as if you don't have any. Finally, I bring you the latest upset: I went to see a rheumatologist for a serious illness I have been battling for 2 years. ANA came back positive with RNP high. He told me these were "lab errors" and ordered further testing, which resulted in many abnormal results. (You can see them clearly in MyChart and they say "abnormal/high/low") He told me that these test results were "insignificant" and that he wasn't going to look into it, clearly on the fix that the labs must have "errors" again. Perhaps it is my age, but as I continue with daily pain and worsening symptoms, I hardly doubt that should matter. I don't want pills, I want answers. Above all, I want doctors that care about their patients more than their fat egos and money lining their pockets. If anyone asks, I am willing to tell you the doctors names so you can hopefully avoid the same frustration, anger and sadness I am going through at this very moment. read more

This is the worst hospital I've ever been to in Little Rock Arkansas. WS there in the ER last night and sat for8 hours before being seen by a doctor and there were others that had been there much longer than I was one man had been there almost 12 hours before being seen. They do not follow CDC guidelines for distancing they were sitting people in wheelchairs within 1 foot of each other and telling people to sit that close to other people when a patient called them on it they got a very bad attitude with her about it. My cancer Dr told me to go up there and they finally got me in the back I was told point blank we can't take itcare of it in the ER and our surgeons are to busy to come to the ER for something like this and that I would just have to be in pain untill they could do surgery in August am looking for new doctors now. My mother waited for months to have surgery to relieve severe back pain. She was finally scheduled for this past Monday. She was told to arrive at 5a.m. My elderly parents had to drive from an hour away, so had to get up a 3a.m to leave by 4a.m. There was delay after delay, and she was not taken in for her surgery until 4pm! Downright the worst hospital I've ever been to. I've been living in Arkansas for four years now and have several chronic conditions, and since UAMS is the only facility near me which treats one of them, it's more or less where I have to go. Due to the nature of my condition(s), I've had first hand experience with most of the facilities in the hospital and each experience has been frustrating to some degree. The first thing to note is that, overall, communication is *extremely poor*. It takes far, far too long to hear back from a doctor, be that over the phone, through e-mail, or through the "MyChart" website for recurring patients. In one instance, I had to cancel an appointment, and therefore had to reschedule it for another day, and it took *3 months* to hear back from someone, and only after I had literally begun messaging *every single doctor in my contacts once a day for a week straight*. There have been moments where I needed to have a non-emergency procedure carried out where time was of the essence and I never got a hold of anyone until the last moment, and only after we had been less-than-polite to the secretaries at the desks or nurses on the floor while hospitalized. On the subject of the secretaries and nurses, the ones at UAMS are *the* most bored sounding, disinterested, non compassionate and generally unpleasant people I've ever talked with. They sound downright angry with you for calling their desk, as if you're inconveniencing them, and in person they are always, always standing around gossiping. If you press the call button or even physically go up to a nurse for assistance, they are just plain nasty and rude to you because you interrupted their precious gossip time. And communication between staff and patient isn't the only issue. The coordination between the various facilities is basically non-existant. For a patient that constantly has to bounce between them, none of the facilities can seem to keep my records straight and seem to be at times unaware what I've been sent from one facility to the other for. Local pharmacies have also told me what a pain it is to get in touch with doctors at UAMS is. When transferring prescriptions to a local Walmart last week, when we told the pharmacist we wanted to transfer a prescription from UAMS to Walmart, the pharmacist groaned and said, "Oh boy, here we go..." I didn't even have to ask what she meant, but did anyway. "Let me guess," I said, "It's hard to get in touch with UAMS, isn't it?" She said "Yup," and called them up, apologizing that it might take a while. We understood. So, the short version: UAMS is terrible at communication, be that to you, each other, or other completely separate businesses, and for the most part is staffed by generally uncaring and sometimes even rude people. If it's your only choice, to their credit, they'll get the job done... but just be prepared to wait. A lot. read more

I previously wrote about how messed up and unorganized this place is, and how I didn't get to see the real doctor, and the intern I got was terrible. I did see another doctor there later who was nice and seemed smart. I've had ongoing problems with them filling prescriptions in a timely manner. This area of the state requires that you get a prescription if you want Sudafed (even though it's not a law or anything). I use it occasionally for my allergies or when I have colds. I had a prescription last year and it expired. I called it in again, with it being allergy season, and the doctor never filled it. I phoned many times to see what the holdup was, and I was just told they had to leave a note for the doctor. I even asked if the doctor could call me if there was any problem. Finally, I went down there in person and was told I needed to make an appointment to see the doctor, since the prescription had expired so many months ago. Not one person had told me that over the phone. I was really annoyed at how much time was wasted by these people not having their act together. I was just there a few weeks ago about my ears hurting, and I didn't know that there was this problem, or else I would have asked about the prescription then. I had already called it in and just assumed it would be ready. Now I have to waste more time coming in again for no reason, just to get a medicine that's not even prescription. Oh, and the person I spoke to there was not very sympathetic and tried to tell me that Sudafed is a "controlled substance." No, it's not. It's an OTC decongestant. It can be used to MAKE a controlled substance, but it requites a bathtub-full of Sudafed for that. I just need one box! It lasts me months... Stop treating your patients like criminals and get your act together. read more

My wife was two hours away from home needing assistance for loss of vision. All of the staff was helpful and friendly and listened. Then they send over Christian from optometry who was RUDE AND VERY AGGRESSIVE. He yelled at her several times trying to force her to say she could see his hands and fingers. When she looked at the fingers he was holding up he yelled at her. Already frustrated and afraid that she is losing her vision in her ONLY eye that has sight he made it so much worse. He handed her an eye chart and told her to read the numbers. She was able to read it by holding it flat against her nose at an upward angle. He tells her she has 20/20 vision. I honestly feel if he is going through his residency for optometry then he has a lot more learning to do and does not need to be seeing patients alone. The ER staff was lovely but the guy from optometry was a JOKE. My wife is home still no vision but an appointment to see the SPECIALIST in the Jones Institute. read more

Has a 3 month wait list for any patient no matter what condition the patient is in. They did not call when I asked to be put on the call back list. The pulmonary hypertension specialist cancelled my appointment after a 3 month wait so he didn't miss his golf game and moved my appointment back another 2 months. They act like you they're doing you a favor and that their dookie doesn't stink. I wouldn't recommend them to any one with a serious illness. read more

Had lifesaving cancer surgery here. The surgeon and doctors are TOP notch. I was on 9th floor. High risk for falls, but no one would help me get up. The woman that answered the call light was downright rude and crude. Told me I wasn't the only patient in the hospital when I requested help getting up or meds for sick stomach. She would not tell the nurse when I called. Hours would go by and nobody would check on me. The nurses were nice but very preoccupied and said they were overworked. I finally just got up by myself as I could get no help. I did report the call light woman to charge nurse, but doubt it was dealt with. This should be one of the top hospitals in the nation, but there must be consistency from the bottom to the top and this isn't the case. Advice: have a family member stay 24 hours if you use this hospital. read more

I have gone to UAMS Primary Care. My intern doctor whose name is dr.Alzghoul is really not very helpful. They had first assigned me to dr. Jenkins who was just as pathetic as they are interns. Just the lack of respect in the lack of really just basic health knowledge and giving you an exam it's just awful. The front is just about as incompetent as well. I have recently visited ER. I got in real quick no problems with that but once you're back here you see multiple different people checking you in asking you the same questions doing the same things and then they all disappear for a long time they're not even busy. Nothing to say about this place and I'm not coming back to any of them as soon as I can get everything switched over to somewhere else bad mistake it was close to me when I moved here but no, not worth it at all read more

I will use Uams for all of my medical needs. Draw Tharian, Carmen Paniagua, Elizabeth Gath, Dr Xu-Xai and all of the amazing physicians and nurses have increased the quality of my life, when I thought there was no hope. I also work full time at Uams and will never want to work anywhere else! Top employer, very fair, great benefits, love working for Uams! The, "No compassion hospital"...Good research hospital, but they lack bed side manners.

I am speaking on behalf of my brother, he is a patient at UAMS hospital. He is disabled and is experiencing what seems to me to be the most unmeasurable discrimination possible. . He was operated on by a dr who asked my mother if he comes from being inbred, the dr should have looked at his record and known that this disease neurofibromatosis is not a result from incest. The dr's name is Kanaan and I am assuming she is from another country and should know that this type of comment/question is ignorant and intolerable here, and as a dr completely inappropriate. Bottom line, from what he has told me they see him as a lost-cause, they want to pump him with medications and send him home. At one point they old him if he doesn't like his treatment there he can go elsewhere. I don't understand how can they say that to someone who is there to be cared for. I fear that he is being mistreated because he is disabled and has numerous problems that they are avoiding to treat. I am going to the media and disability advocates as well. read more

Financial department has wonderful people who will help you if you have a low income family. ER was quick to admit me and was evaluated and test ordered in a timely manner. Was admitted after not hearing anything for 3 hours with no explanation as to why and wasn't told till a surgeon showed up. Next two days has been a castle to receive any information about my care with me finally threatening to leave before an actual doctor came to talk to me. Lots of miscommunication among team and dealt with rude nurses and doctors when I demanded to know what my treatment plan was. Finally ending the night being told if I leave before they allow me to, they will make it hard for me to receive care in the future. I've been treated poorly and now threatened. All because I need surgery so I can go home to my children. Laying in the bed now against my will with no idea how long till I will receive surgery or be sent home on their orders. read more

Out of the 10 doctors in total that my twins had I only had ONE AWFUL nurse. So I am extremely satisfied because the other 9 were so nice and took care of my children with care and compassion. The one nurse who was just awful denied me my own breast milk for one of my twin that was discharge. The only reason why I asked her for some of my stocked milk was because I live three hours away and still was staying at the hospital. She said "you can pump and feed him that" yeah I can do that.. Or you can give me my own milk and not come back the next day. read more
