DONT DRIVE FOR UBER!! They CAN rip you off!! My UBER HORROR STORY! Waited about 40 mins at Detroit Metro Airport drivers waiting area and finally got a ride. I pull up to customer and FAULTY UBER APP tells me to get customer pin. Customer says he doesn't know what I am talking about. The FAULTY UBER APP then says enter last 4 numbers of customers phone. NOTHING! Ride won't start on app. So to give this customer SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I tell him I will call customer service on Uber to fix this while we drive an hour to Flint. BIG MISTAKE!! While waiting 10-15 mins on hold customer starts complaining on having to pay 95.00 to Uber because Delta won't fly into Flint. Then Uber answers my call and then disconnected the call!!! Another 10-15 hold time and Uber answers and says wrong 800 number for this issue!!! You kidding me!?!?!?! 3rd call on our 10-15 minutes of waiting and the freeway shuts down!!! Major truck fire!! So while "customer service" puts us on hold about 5x approximately 5-10 mins at a time they finally fix the faulty app and it says ride has begun. 22 miles from Flint and 3 hrs later!!! I drop off customer and I am paid $22.00 for over 100 miles of driving and 3.25 hours in my car! Now customer and I are both upset. So 40 rides all 5 stars and this guy gives me a 1 star because of UBERS PISS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! It gets worse. I send 3 HELP DESK requests and 2 weeks later UBER says it was my problem not theirs!!! Needless to say I will never drive for UBER again nor do I recommend ANYONE do it! Their app clearly shows I picked a customer up at Detriot Metro Airport and drove him to Flint and dropped him off 3.25 hrs later. I also sent UBER the link to the MLIVE article showing the major truck fire that closed down US23. MY FAULT?!?! Uber Ann Arbor is a little more dicey than other locations, most notably Detroit, where I can always find an Uber Black ready to pick me up and whisk me out of town. Unfortunately, there's no Uber Black in Ann Arbor. (Or if there is, I have yet to find it.) This wouldn't be so bad if the UberX drivers had cleaner, more operable cars, and more skilled drivers who know their way around town. The few times I've used UberX in Ann Arbor, I've always experienced an issue. On my most recent ride, my driver stunk like body odor, and drove a beat-up minivan with a barely functioning air conditioner. This made the long drive from Ann Arbor back to DTW airport pretty unbearable. I've come to expect far more out of Uber than this. Most of you know I'm a HUGE fan of Uber -- UberX, UberXL, Uber Black, and Uber SUV. I use all of them for business and personal travel all over the country. And most of the time I post a glowing 5-star review in whatever city I happen to be using them in. Ann Arbor, however, is an Uber anomaly that will hopefully fix the kinks over time. I will start by saying I have never used Uber or Lyft before. I had no idea what to expect. I downloaded the app, filled in my information and waited. Ten minutes later a car pulled up and I climbed in. As we drove we talked. The trip was pleasant and expedient. If the need arises again I will definitely use Uber again. read more

Ann Arbor Uber sucks! The nerve of this first driver "Louis" I ordered car from Blake Center. I just exited the Michigan Flyer from DTW. I watched on my phone as the driver drove further snd further away as I waited in the cold. Initially , he was 2 minutes away, then 4 and 7. He went way up to the u of m hospital area(Fletcher)I called his number, and no answer, straight to voice mail, twice and that was not set up. Temperatures near zero and snowing. Then I cancelled and called a cab. Several minutes later another driver, "Don" said I'm on my way. I said I called s cab. He sounded angry and hung up. I was never notified that another driver was coming. All "Louis" had to do is be honest and let another take the call. Greed gets no where. Then, they still bill for canceling with no way to report, rate or comment on inappropriate drivers. In addition, Uber overcharged anyway. Green Cab service was actually cheaper. Plus more experience driving in ice and snow. The one star is because the phone set up was accurate and I could see the drivers movement as he avoided the initial pick up. You need better customer service, even here in Michigan. I know, I just spent 2 years in Manhattan. read more

I was using Uber frequently after having moved to Ann Arbor in the fall of 2015. However, a recent event has left me shaking my head in disgust. Uber marketed that they were going to have an Ice Cream Delivery Day....even sent me a friendly reminder. When I tried to order the ice cream delivery, the driver knew absolutely nothing about it. I found out later that you have to install an application called UberEats for the ice cream delivery; but they did not tell me that in advance AND they did not even tell their drivers the event existed! So there we were on the phone, the driver and I - he said, "I don't want to cancel the trip because they will penalize me." I replied, "I don't want to cancel the trip because they will charge me." We left it in limbo for awhile. I did notice later that the driver cancelled it. I went online to find our about the ice cream delivery offer, which was SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN THING. That is where I found out that you had to install UberEats, and I verified on their website that the offer WAS available in Ann Arbor. It was a one-day event. So I installed the UberEats app and tried again to order the Ice Cream Day delivery. I like for things to work the way they are advertised to, and yes, I can be persistent. The app on my phone said, "This is not available in your area." Now, they had marketed it directly to me, and their website stated very clearly that it was available in Ann Arbor. I looked all over for a phone number to call Uber and get this straightened out. They do not have a phone number - and the driver told me that even the drivers can not contact them by phone! - so I sent Uber an email, asking that the driver not be penalized and explaining that the UberEats app does not work in Ann Arbor, despite being advertised as live on their website. Since then I have been receiving 3 or 4 emails every day from Uber, with different messages from various administrative employees. Some of them scold me for using the Uber app and insist that I install the UberEats app. One promised me a $10 credit to try their service again. And today, two days AFTER their Ice Cream Day fiasco ended, they are still sending me emails encouraging me to order the ice cream, saying that this is just one of their occasional fun events to reward their customers. An ice cream delivery is simply not all that important, of course, but I had looked forward to it, and the fact that Uber made an offer and then did not honor it makes me feel very uneasy about Uber. I would have given a one-star "EEKS Methinks not" review, except that I have used Uber in the past and the service was acceptable. Some of the Uber drivers were indeed very nice. Some of the cars were well-maintained and clean, and others (as described in the review by Christopher K. above) were substandard and smelled of tobacco. Most of the drivers have been quite nice. The last email Uber sent me today was telling me to download the UberEats app and inviting me to order the ice cream for Ice Cream Day (which ENDED two days ago). I replied by asking them not to email me anymore over this issue, reminding them that Ice Cream Day is OVER, telling them that I am uninstalling UberEats because it does NOT work, and stating that I expect them to provide me the $10 credit they promised. But, since they have proven themselves to be unreliable administratively....next time I will call Lyft. If anyone from Uber reads this, please take it to heart that you need to honor the offers you make or simply do not make them. And please do clean up the communication glitches in your offices. By the way, the Uber driver also said that there is no way for your drivers to contact you by phone. That IS a problem. I cannot imagine having an employer and not being able to talk to that employer. Now I feel sad for the drivers. read more

Never showed up to take me to airport. I received a confirmation email that they would be coming AND notification that morning but they never camp. Then acknowledged that they didn't and gave me a $10 credit! I had to drive myself and pay to park at $192. No other choice at that point. Customer service NOT responding. DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE. Use Lift, taxi, metro car . Shame on you Uber!! read more

Uber out of DTW does not maintain a consistently high standard for their cars, drivers, and customer service as compared to other cities where I use the service. On my most recent ride, the Uber driver had terrible body odor, his car smelled, there was trash on the floor and the rug was soiled. It is safer to take a shuttle or another transportation service than risk getting assigned my driver in a grungy car with noxious odors overwhelming your senses. Uber just fucked me for the first time this evening. There's a way a driver can drive right by you and then cancel the trip. Uber then charges u $5. When the next driver picked me up she informed me than this scam is fairly prolific. Drivers do this scam on a regular basis. read more

When I was on Google maps one of the transportation options was uber. It also said that the 1st ride would be free for rides up to $15. I had never used them before so I decided to try them. When I c l8cked on that option I was prompted to install the app. Nowhere was I supplied with a discount code which surprised me. I figured that since It was clearly my first ride & that I had been prompted by the ad, that it might apply the credit at the end when I was charged. The ride was $12 and at no time despite having been specifically pulled in by the ad was I supplied with a code, nor was my ride credited. I emailed customer service, imagining that they would apply a credit, etc. I had ridden with Lyft many times befire and they are very generous with coupons, credits, etc. and I rather expected similar treatment from Uber. The response I received asked for the code. I responded by again explaining that the promotion I was offered did not supply me with a code. Basically I kept getti g the same email 6 times with the same response. It was so frustrating. I couldn't call because there is no phine number for Uber. I was finally so incredibly frustrated that I gave up. It was ridiculous. I told the bot or whatever was generating the emails how I felt and that I would never use Uber again. I got the SAME email response I received the other times asking for the code which was never supplied to me. AAARGH. I'll go back to Lyft. I've never had any trouble with billing, etc. with Lyft. read more
