Yes 1-25 was backed up so we suggested cutting through down town, but in a 45 minute window (yes 45 minutes to get from DU to Zengos) we almost got plowed by a firetruck and schooled on "how fly" us Wifeys are by our driver who only "knows hoodrats". All this magical transportation cost us a mere $135. Yes. You read that right. $135. We took a cab home and it cost us about $100 less. So f'n ridiculous. Never again. read more

I used Uber New Year's Eve and attempted to get a car before the midnight rush. I had a car on its way, and then it somehow got lost on its way. I watched it on the map and it disappeared. When opening the app, I then received a receipt charging me 20 or so dollars. The driver never even attempted contact. I then requested another car, what choice did I have? But, by this time, the app insisted I had to accept that I would be charged DOUBLE because cars were being requested off the charts. I contacted the company the next day, because I thought it was unfair my first car never arrived at the regular rate, but then I had to request a car that was now double. All they did was give me a 20 dollar credit for in he future. Big whopping deal... They give anyone a $20 credit. Keep cab companies in business and avoid uber! While most companies were trying to get people home safe on New Years, Uber's only care was how much money they could scrounge from people. They did reverse the 20 dollar charge on their own. And my 40 something dollar ride home became a whopping 80 something dollar ride home. read more

Absolutely awful. We were picked up from Washington Park ten minutes after the time promised. We told the driver the address where we were going, and he proceeded to go in the exact opposite direction. Luckily I was looking at the map on my smartphone and caught this. Next thing we knew, we were on I-25 South toward Colorado Springs. We had to direct the deiver on each turn to get to the hotel in a town we had never visited. BE CAREFUL!!! Uber apparently partakes in price gouging and doesn't bother to tell you about it until after your credit card is already charged! I used Uber this past weekend to get home after having a few beers at the Rockies ball game (didn't want to drive, but was by no means drunk). What should have been a 20 minute ride and $50 MAX fare turned into a $309 car ride!!! WHAT?!! I disputed it with the company and they informed me that they charge a "premium surcharge during peak times to ensure adequate drivers on the road." They told me that they would not be adjusting my fare due to the fact that their pricing is "transparent".... except I never agreed to such a charge nor did the driver mention a word about this "peak time surcharge" in the 30 minute ride home (did I mention he took the longest route??). I could have FLOWN home for that much money! Or stayed in a hotel, a very nice hotel... with room service. $300+ is simply TOO MUCH for any car ride, and the fact that they charge up to 5 times normal rates during times when people need it most is outrageous. Furthermore, the person I spoke to told me "It is absolutely within your right to choose not to ride while fares are increased." How is this good customer service?? Are you suggesting I walk 12 miles home? Or sleep who knows where? What a rude comment. I'll never use Uber again... and I'll be telling all my friends not to either. read more

After reading the love em or hate em reviews, we were skeptical but thought we would give it a try after dinner Friday from 1st and Broadway (center of the Denver universe). After trying for 25 minutes to get a text reply, we gave up and got a cab. The website didn't load well despite trying on two cell providers (TMobile and Verizon). Once you download there app your one click away from big charges. I tried using the service after I checked there low listed rates, but when I tried to use it only one type of car was available so I clicked on it to see the rate immediatley a driver was dispatched and I was being charged. I figured at 30 off it would still be reasonable, but annoyed how easily my kid could accidently rack up charges so figured I wouldn't use it again. Then at the end of a trip that was 45 dollars by cab costs me 110 dollars! The driver was great, but the low rates others describe don't exist. When I tried to log on to see what I was charged for my password which I know was right won't work, and when I email them since they have no phone number listed, I don't get a responce... I recently had the below experience with Uber and was beyond disappointed that no one ever called me when I was trying to get one of there drivers who was under the influence of drugs or alcohol off the road. Below is the 3rd email I sent to them. I am beyond disappointed that no one has called me. I wanted someone to call because I was sincerely worried about the health of others. Your driver did not belong on the road and I did not get his license plate number. I knew you had his info and wanted to call the authorities to get him off the road before he injured someone. That is why I contacted you multiple times. I have friends and family that drive for uber and I often use the service but after today I don't know if I will be able to use it going forward. Here is the breakdown of my ride. After requesting the car which was only 4 minutes away I saw the car spinning in circles on the map and not getting closer. I thought this was a glitch in the app but when he arrived he said he had been stuck in a parking lot for 10 minutes and could not get out. I had to sit in the front because he had stuff in the back seat. I quickly noticed he was visibly intoxicated or had a disability... He was swerving all over, ran a red light, and on multiple occasions did not have either hand on the steering wheel while showing me the app on his phone and looking at me. At this time he was rambling incoherent nonsense. We were on the interstate during this and on multiple occasions would have gotten into an accident had I not yelled that we had a car in the lane he was merging into and so forth. At this point I am trying to figure out how to get out of the car. Once we got off the interstate he went the wrong direction twice and I asked him to just pull over. It's unbelievable that no one got back to me in a reasonable amount of time. You could easily have a law suit. This guy was obviously never screened. We thought this would be a good way to go to the Broncos game so downloaded the app and had a car pick us up. Cost us $22 to get there with a $30 discount for first time use. Clean car and polite driver. When he dropped us off we asked him where we needed to be to get picked up after game. He said, "right here same place as this is where all the taxis and services picked up their customers. We later found out this was a blatant lie, as Uber has not been allowed to go where the taxis are and they are prevented from picking customers up at that spot. The issue arises when the game is over and I call Uber to pick us up. As I tap my way around the Uber App to get picked up I notice that the price will be 2X's the cost as it is a "busy" time. OK, we need to get home right. By now the taxi line is about 3000 people deep. I get a call back from the Uber driver and he tells me he can't get to us as he is being stopped from getting to that area and cannot pick us up. I ask what the heck I'm supposed to do now and he says to call another Uber driver to see if he can get to us. I do that and am told the same thing from the second driver. Taxi line getting even longer now. I ask Uber driver how close can he get to us as we really do need to get home. He says to get away from the stadium and call another Uber driver. OK, the 3rd time is a charm hopefully. Talking with the 3rd driver, he tells us we need to go about 10 blocks to an intersection that he knows he can pick us up at. We go there even though my wife has had surgery on both knees which are bad and half this walk is up a steep incline. When we get to this intersection we see the police are making all traffic move along and is not permitting anyone stopping for loading passengers. The cop tells up no one is permitted to do that and that's why he's there, to prevent it. We call the 3rd drive and inform him of this and tell him we will be in the 7-11 parking lot across from that intersection. Finally we connect and (sore, tired) wife and I are in a vehicle. By the time we were able to connect with the 3rd driver and get him to where we all needed to be the fare had gone up to 3X's the price. He drops us off and sore knees, weary us get out with a $188 charge for the ride home. I have deleted this app and will never use Uber again. We believe the driver on the way to the game knew very well what the experience was going to be like for us after the game but didn't tell us the truth. The second driver wasn't too excited at all to make much of an effort. The last driver who got us home was pleasant but even an offer of a couple of 4oz waters wasn't enough to satisfy us enough to use Uber again. Beware using. read more

We got to our destination and then I got an email saying that instead of $9 my fare had been adjusted to $25 with no explanation. I come to find out that the suburb and are meant for four passengers so I was charged more than double for the extra people. Think twice before using UBER as a service. The first couple of times I used it I thought this was a great service because the app allows for easy access and payment. But over the last few times we have used the service, they have tended to price gouge towards the end of the night. They say that this is based on a demand issue, but other industries are not able to raise their prices by 10x's within two hours (e.g., gas stations) even though the demand might allow for it. First time using this service and all I did was open the app and call a car. I had a promo code that was worth up to a $30 fare. I couldnt drive and I had plans with someone so I used uber and the code! Well watch out! You end up getting a car that charges $3.20 (no notification of this) instead of the standard $1.25, or whatever. ITS THE EXACT SAME SERVICE. No foot rubs, no chilled drinks. Normal taxi comes and picks you up normally and drops you off normally except they charge you 70 instead of 30 (approxiamately). Screw me, right? When you contact customer support they'll say ,"sorry for the confusion, better luck next time or be sure to not make that mistake in the future" I have my email exchange saved. They take advantage of people because it was surprisingly easy for me to get screwed on this and I was forced to eat a much stiffer bill and they literally just left me on the side of the street. I cant afford just dropping an extra 40 for literally nothing. Of course you cant post reviews on their web site, so here is the next step. Oh! A supervisor finally contacted me after the exchange with the first rep and she said since it WAS my first time, I get $5 credit. PFFFFT!! We asked him to take a certain street because I needed to stop at a store but he said he didn't know the area and had to take the highways because it was where his Tom Tom told him to go. When we wanted to go back home Uber just kept saying it would be 2.75 times the regular rate because they were busy. They already overcharged us on the way there now they want $55 to take me home? I flagged down a Metro cab and including tip I paid $20 for a plesant ride home that included a stop at the store I needed to go to and the Metro driver drove the streets I requested. I was trying to schedule a trip to the airport, while I was setting it up, the app crashed. I opened it again and scheduled my trip like normal. Next thing I know I get a call from an uber driver outside my door. I had no notification, nothing in the app. Apparently when the app crashed it scheduled a trip for that time. So the driver cancels, and I think that's the end of it. No, the cycle repeats with two more drivers. No notifications, nothing from the app, just me explaining to the uber drivers in my driveway that I have no idea what is going on. After three the cycle stops thankfully, but I realize I have been charged almost 20$ in driver fees from the three drivers having to cancel. Now I think, there must be a way to contact uber but no. Their online support has no chat, email, or decent way to contact them directly, just drop down tabs of faqs, which I spent probably an hour going through to try to find a way to get in contact with them. Googling how to call uber brings me to their website again, claiming they have 24/7 phone service, but the page is for an outdated app in which the feature is no longer present. Im praying I can somehow get in contact with them on one of their social media pages, but we'll see how it goes. At the moment I think I'll be using lyft from now on. read more

UBER screwed me over on their surge pricing. I understand why they do it - but in my case I booked a trip the night before for an early morning pickup to ride to the airport. When I booked the night before, they gave me a quote of $29-$39. I went to bed with knowing that I had my transportation arranged at a reasonable price. Five minutes before my driver arrived, I received notification that surge pricing was in effect (at 6:30am on a Saturday morning). The total charge ended up being $72. What options do I have at that point? Call a cab ... which could have delayed my arrival to the airport? Wake up a neighbor at 6:30 am on a weekend? Drive myself and pay for parking? I have used UBER many times with minimal issues.However, I consider this incident to be extortion. They quoted me $29-$39 and then gouged me for $72 at the last minute. I complained and they provided me with a refund of $18 ... should have been a "one time courtesy" refund of at least $32. Also, they failed to acknowledge that I booked the night before and they provided a significantly lower cost. Wow! What a rip off!!! We took a 11mile ride from Uber Black car at 5:30 pm to the First Bank Center in Broomfield, Co on Oct 31 for $53.00. Our return trip was $369.00!!! We have friends that are charged almost $800 one way. Uber drivers should be more upfront with the max amount we could be charged before we get in the car. We had good rides, drivers, cars for several trips and then it turned bad. My last experience was heading to the Denver Airport and the app showed only "SUV" or Black Car available for the ride at 3 p.m. in afternoon. Don't know why there were no other vehicles suddenly available. Also, the Fare Estimate app didn't come up that time and gave me no idea of cost. It cost $35 coming in so I didn't worry. It ended up at $121 -- crazy high fare. Cab is also high at $80, but this was outrageous. Also, the drivers kept telling us that their money had just been reduced with Uber. I don't want to hear that. Also, I understood the surge period, as we had to pay 4.5 times the amount after going to a movie and snow starting. But, that's also unfair. I live a couple of miles south of Denver. Uber has become the #1 way I get in and out of LODO. Easier than finding parking, and either the same price or less than parking. I always get into conversations with the drivers and always find them very friendly. A couple of times have had drivers not be able to find me when they're picking me up, even though I'm on the front steps of my house, and have had to call them and direct them. They're human, not perfect, and can make mistakes. But they've never been rude about it. Only once did a driver report me and my husband as not showing up and charge us, but we easily straightened that out. I've had taxi cabs flake out on picking me up, and even a car service to the airport, and Uber saved my ass. All in all, I prefer using Uber as my main alternative mode of transportation. read more

I have been using Uber for about a year with excellent experiences until the last couple of weeks. (Note: This has nothing to do with the drivers, who have been universally excellent.) 1)A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Uber app to order a car, and was informed that my credit card was no longer valid, and I would need to go into my account to update the information. I was in a hurry, so had to take a regular cab. Couldn't they have sent me a text when that became an issue? And, don't try to go to their website to update your card information when that happens. The website is entirely for drivers or potential drivers, nothing for passengers. It took me a couple of false tries to find that out; I ended up figuring out how to do it from the Uber app on my phone. 2)Today, I took Uber from University Blvd. south of Cherry Creek to my doctor's office, which is near 6th Ave., east of Quebec in the Lowry area. When I came out and tried to bring up the Uber app to go home, it wouldn't open. I tried many times, making sure I was connected to the Internet, even turning my phone off and back on. Nothing. Again I had to take a regular taxi. I have to say that my 3 star rating (not 4 or 5) has to do with a touch of uncertainty now about whether there are places in Denver where I won't be able to use the service. read more

I worked for Uber and here's my story of why the company sucks! I went to pick up a rider after he had his dog swim in the green belt and wanted to get in out of the rain and get a ride home. I asked, "Hey man, is that a service dog?" "No, man he's not can you take us anyway?" "No, I don't want a wet muddy dog in my car, call someone else they might be able to pick you up," I replied. His response, "Well actually he is a service dog and you can't turn me away because Uber makes you take everyone with a dog, service dog or not." I responded, "Well, not me sorry man tan interior again call someone else." He then proceeded to punch my side mirror and I drove away. I contacted Uber and let them now that I had a customer assault my personal vehicle and described our interaction. They immediately disconnected me from service and told me that he was right and I can't discriminate anyone with a dog service or not and let me go. Now, I am dog-friendly and I have given rides to people with dogs numerous times, but I didn't want a non-service muddy and wet dog in my car. Thanks UBER! You suck! read more

But they charged twice me even though I'm not traveling in uber. As u are all aware that they are going to charge by taking the credit or debit card info. They simply do the transaction whenever they want. There is no proper response also. There is no customer support. They only communicate via mails. After our son highly recommended using Uber, we decided to give it a first time try. Texted for a car at the airport and one arrived promptly in 10 minutes. Very nice SUV and nice driver got us to our hotel for the same price as a taxi. We texted again at the end of our visit and a car arrived in 6 minutes to our downtown hotel. we could see on our phones where the car was. Very, very easy to use. Biiling is all done automatically and tip is included. We travel frequently and will definitely use Uber wherever available. We only wish it was available in more cities. I've only used Uber once and the driver apparently tried to rip me off. He sent me an email receipt for one price immediately after the ride was over. After I submitted a good driver rating, he sent another email receipt for almost twice the original amount. I emailed Uber and sent them copies of both receipts. They refunded me part of it and said they would investigate it but I never heard anything further. I don't know what to think about it and I'm not sure I will use Uber again. read more
