I am wheelchair bound. To my discredit, I am just beginning the process for Access-A-Ride. So, this past Easter week, I needed a ride to hear my 17-year old grandson sing a song that he picked for me. I called every source I could think of. Family and friends helped. I finally settled on Yellow Cab (Metro Taxi). A dear friend-my grandson's other grandmother insisted on paying the $72.00 round trip fee. She even included enough for the tip. Joyfully, I scheduled the ride. I told them exactly what I needed.i was assured over and over that there was no problem. At 9:15 am, I was ready. By 9:20, I went downstairs to wait in the lobby of my building, just in case they had forgotten to call me. At 9:30 or so, I called. The annoying AI VOICE told me they did not have a driver at this time, but would let me know when one was on the way. OK. FIFTEEN minutes later, I called again and demanded that pushy voice to let me speak with a human being. This guy didn't know anything. He said the same thing the voice had said. I reminded him that my destination was not close. He asked me to please call back in ten minutes. I DID. THIS TIME I GOT THE TRUTH. THERE WAS NOT, NOR HAD THERE EVER BEEN THE TYPE OF RIDE I NEEDED -- IN THE DENVER AREA!! Then the agent spoke about vehicles with ramps where chairs could be pushed up. I asked if they had that. NO. Then why even bring it up! I have that kind of wheelchair. I only use it at home, but, I would have taken it out for this Important occasion! Well, I let the agent know my BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT. I must significantly up the stars for Yellow Cab due to an incredibly positive experience Thursday evening with one of their cab drivers. I very much regret not getting his name. He was so cool! He drove me to locate my family member's car which we only knew was somewhere along the side of a metro area highway. When we found it, and it was not starting, he helped me try to start it, and when I realized that, for safety reasons, we needed some help from an agency such as the Highway Patrol, the cab driver remained by the side of the road with me (it was dark out by then...) until the law enforcement arrived. The cab driver also remained until the car was successfully started. I appreciated both the cab driver and the kind law enforcement assistance. Ok...I know...I should renew my triple A! read more

On December 21st 2019, at approximately 11:30 at night, while working at Denver Union Station, I was contacted by an elderly deaf individual who needed assistance getting to his home. I was able to find out that the person had money for a taxi on him, and with pen and paper, he requested that I use my phone to order a taxi for him.. I did so, attempting to help the gentleman, and at the corner of 17th and wewatta, a taxi driver arrived shortly. The deaf individual works at a mechanic shop, and was wearing his jumpsuit and jeans. Immediately upon arrival, the taxi driver, and African American male with a middle eastern accent, screamed out of his taxi "Fuck that shit he's homeless I'm not taking him" while myself, my friend and the deaf individual were standing in the walkway, the taxi driver of taxi 6117, sped off and nearly hit us, refusing to accept the gentlemen's money and offer assistance. I called the taxi number several times after attempting to locate another taxi, but the automated system continuously hung up on me. Out of my own pocket, I paid for an Uber to get the deaf individual home. I am appalled, disgusted and furious about the lack of customer service, professionalism, and overall lack of respect, exhibited from this employee who was driving vehicle 6117. I have called the customer service line several times about this issue since the incident, and had been continuously put on hold, only to leave a message. read more

Most unreliable company. The company called to confirm TWICE and when it was time to pick up my disabled brother who was waiting 45 min (in the cold garage even!) ready to go, they didn't show up. I called and the dispatcher said they were looking for a driver with a disable friendly car (which we reserved 3 days before). What??? It takes 3 days to reserve a car?? I scheduled the night before, I got the call to confirm this morning, which I responded to. The time for pickup comes and goes. Now they are late. I call the 866 number only to be told that driver won't be there for another 10 minutes. She says "Okay?" I tell her "NO! NOT OKAY!" I tell her that I have an appointment, and they are going to make me late. As usual in these days where these young people don't know the first thing about customer service, she couldn't have cared less that they caused me to miss my appointment. I called this morning to reserve a wheelchair accessible cab. They took all my information and said that they would have one for me at 3:00, but to call at 2 to make sure. I called at 2 and was told that the cab was about 30 miles away, but would be there when needed. I was meeting them at the repair shop to bring home my son's 400 pound power wheelchair. As I pulled into the lot, I got a call from dispatch that they would not be able to give me a ride today. No one could explain why and offered me a car. I doubt anyone could lift a 400 pound chair into a car. Will never use them!!! read more

I reserved a car the night before I needed it, thinking this would be safer than scheduling an uber (which isn't guaranteed). I got a confirmation call very quickly after and a text w/ my confirmation number for date and time. My car NEVER SHOWED UP. They had my phone number, and I never got a call. I called their number several times until I was able to speak to a human, who told me "something happened to that driver." She offered to send me another driver, but by that time so much time had elapsed that I wasn't going to make it to my destination in time. I had plans, I had a place I needed to be by a certain time, and it was ruined thanks to the complete unreliability of this car service. I would've had better luck with the not guaranteed uber. NEVER GET IN CAB 529! He picked us up at Lola and brought us to our place in uptown. We tried to pay with a credit card and he said his machine was broken but he would take us to get cash. Coming from Chicago, I know the drill. Yes, I know it sucks for them to take a card, but their policy states that they have to. When we tried to get out of the cab when he refused payment, he hit the gas with our door still open. He took us to 7-11 and told us to get cash. We refused and he called the police. The police officer was going to ticket us for failure to pay our fare. Ultimately, we had to pay the fare or go to jail. I checked Yellow Cabs policy and they HAVE to accept credit cards. If their machine is broken, they can call in the card number. I have a complaint in for the driver of car 529 and they have not called us back. I will never use 7's again. read more

In a simple city like Denver, it's complete bullsh*t to pick someone up at a residential location (i.e. their house) and drive them to their destination via some elaborate route in an attempt to squeeze more money out of them and not have them notice. And i refuse to believe the alternative, which is that cabbies for this company are so inexperienced with the geography of downtown/central Denver that they don't know the fastest route from my house to freaking Larimer Square. Gimme a break. The next time a taxi from this company picks me up at my house near 6th and Speer with a destination of anywhere near Larimer Square and doesn't take me there via Speer, but instead tries to take me up Clarkson to 17th or 18th street only then trying to go into the downtown district, and then expects a good tip, I will drop this review to 1 star and refuse to use the company ever again. If there was a way to rate this service lower than one-star, I would. My parents landed today at Denver, and I had advised them to take Yellow Cab, thinking it was a reliable service. Which is why I am motivated to write this review to warn anyone who may think similarly. They took the cab from DIA, and the taxi driver had no clue where he was going. He put in the address in the GPS and still "got lost". My poor parents didn't know the city, and were terrified, as they saw the meter running up into the $$ hundreds. They could see him pulling up the correct address on his phone but he could still not follow directions, or didn't want to. He spoke in heavy accent, so not sure how well he really understood what was going on. But he was also driving slowly, and wouldn't stop when my parents asked him to stop so they could call me for help with directions, in Seattle. The cab number was 5528, and the license plate was 062 QHL. Beware! Although after reading other reviews here, it seems that abuse of seniors and handicapped people, or out-of-towners is a pattern - these taxi drivers are predators. Ultimately, they were charged $95 for a ride from DIA to Lafayette, and this was after a call to the Yellow Cab office, since the actual amount on the meter was well into three digits. My parents, being unfamiliar seniors, didn't have the courage to press further, but I am completely outraged at this attempt to take advantage of people. What was that person on the phone from Yellow Cab thinking, telling the driver to charge $95, instead of apologizing for the trauma and the HUGE WASTE OF TIME that was caused to them? My father is a diabetic patient, and they had arrived at DIA after a long flight. If Yellow Cab doesn't fix the malpractice by their drivers, it is only a matter of time these people end up hurting someone seriously. There is a reason people take Uber. I can't regret enough that I was the cause of this trauma to my parents. read more

If you can get Yellow Cab to answer your phone calls you are in a better place in life than I am. My girlfriend and I decided to hit up ladies night yesterday and decided to give Yellow Cab a call. Never again.... No, really, NEVER again. We called three times total. The first time, nobody answered. The second, someone picked up and hung up. Finally, on the third try, we were able to order a cab. Now, all of this seemed odd to me as it was 8pm on a Thursday. It's not like we were trying to hail a cab at 2 in the morning downtown. Yellow Cab seems to be my go-to cab of late. Is this because I'm kinda lazy? Well, maybe. Because I use the Taxi Magic app on my iPhone, so I don't even have to pick up the phone to call - which is super convenient when I'm out and about or in a restaurant. The app clearly has a relationship with Yellow Cab, although you're given the option to call Metro Cab if you'd like instead - it even upates in real time, so you can see when your cab is dispatched, plus the name of the driver, and you can sign up to pay via credit card so you don't have to hassle with paying on your trip. Although I've never done this - I'm sure it's totally fine, but I always get weirded out about having my card on file somewhere. Anyhow, I've taken more cabs in Denver over the past three years than any other time in my life, and I'd say 9/10 I call Yellow since I'm a creature of habit. No complaints here! read more

Bad cabbies. Got hit by two different drivers in two nights. One tried to hit me with his car after he almost ran me over and knocked me off my bike. The bike lane exists, so best start being more aware of your surroundings drivers. Also, from prior earlier experiences, their phone operators have been rude numerous of times I've called. Use if you must, but they're my last go to service if I've ever have to. Plus it helps to know the city. It's pretty bad if you have to tell the driver, with a gps how to get there the whole way. and that has happened a few times too. read more

You know how you can use a service a few times and be happy, but one bad experience will leave a bad taste in your mouth? Yeah, Yellow Cab was like that for me. I was in Denver this week for work, and used Yellow Cab to get to and from an event. When I called them the first time, they arrived promptly and got me to my event quickly. Then the event ended, and... things went wrong. So, here's the deal. I work for a college and was at a Denver college recruiting students. After the event was over, I called Yellow Cab to come pick me up. I ordered two cabs - one for me, and one for another recruiter I had been talking to that was in from Paris. As in France. As in not America. To be fair, the problems started when the address that the school gave us is apparently listed as a different venue with Yellow Cab. I told the dispatch driver what building we were in, but without a physical street address there were issues. The other recruiter and I walked outside and found a street corner to stand on that was maybe 100 feet off a major street, and I assumed it would be easy to find. Two cab drivers called me, and I told them what corner we were on. One cab came, and I was trying to do a good deed so I put the other recruiter in it because she isn't even from this country and I wanted to make sure she got back to her hotel. Then the other cab never came. I called him and he was telling me what street he was on, and he couldn't seem to grasp that I wasn't from Denver and I had no idea where that street was. I explained to him in as much detail as I could where I was standing (drive down Major Street, turn down this street and you'll see me standing on the first corner). He never showed. I kept calling him and he kept saying, "I'll be there in a minute." Never showed. Finally he admitted he got tired of looking for me and went back downtown where there was business. Yeah, he LEFT ME STANDING ON A CORNER IN A STRANGE (freezing cold) CITY. Fury. Rage. I called Yellow Cab again, and the dispatch woman told me she could not put an intersection in, that I had to give her an actual street address. But the only street address I had was apparently listed as a completely different venue. I was so beyond frustrated by this point, I can't even tell you. How is it possible that Yellow Cab doesn't have a better system in place? Surely I'm not the first tourist to call them. So I called the first cab driver since he had no problems finding us, and he came back for me. I seriously could not thank him enough and I could not have tipped him more. I was so thankful that he came back, otherwise I probably would have roamed the streets of Denver at night in the freezing cold trying to get back to my hotel. So to the driver of cab #472, you are awesome and I will forever appreciate what you did. To the cab driver who LEFT ME (#9225) - screw you. I'm glad you thought making more money downtown (which I was less than a freaking MILE from) was more important to you than my safety. Karma is a bitch. read more

Tried to rip us off. Went from the Crowne Hotel to the Denver Art Museum - a fare of $5.50. My friend swiped her card before seeing the fare and the driver asked for cash b/c the fare was so low. We asked if her card would be charged and he said no, that it didn't go through. So we paid him in cash, just to see that my friend's card was charged $11.70! After talking to the company, apparently the driver ran the card and added a tip! They did refund the money but explained that the drivers don't understand how to use the credit card system - awesome. Apparently, they understand it enough to add a tip to a bogus charge. Do not recommend and will definitely use one of the many other cabs in the city. read more

This company is why people are moving away from traditional cab service, and towards Uber. I took a ride from hands down the rudest driver I've ever met Saturday night. Was unpleasant the whole way, demanded cash upon dropping me off, even though that was never mentioned prior and it was a 50$ cab ride. Such a rip off, I paid a total of 60$ for a awful ride in a dirty car with a rude driver, all of which would has cost me 30$ from Uber, and I can guarantee I would have had better service. Where to start. One star doesn't even cut it. If I could give negative reviews, this would qualify. I'll be brief, but in essence called numerous times for a cab downtown & at hotel, kept us waiting. Then, finally got cabbie & driver didn't know Denver at all; no GPS, and actually went the wrong way on the highway when we told him where to go! Got to destination & had to haggle with driver in parking lot b/c of $20 extra on the meter because the DRIVER went the wrong way in a loop. Can I give less than a Star? The cab smelled like cigarettes covered up with air freshener. He insisted to roll up my window every time I rolled it down and blasted his heater. He was sent by SuperShuttle because my van had a problem, and wouldn't accommodate me well after they informed him. He probably thought he wasn't gonna get any tip. I literally felt like I was suffocating in there, the air was gross! Definitely not the safest driver either and not nice. I'm not from Yellow Cab, but this is just a common sense note. When you get yourself so drunk that you then barf in a cab, the cab becomes disgusting and has to be cleaned before other people can ride in it. The cab driver loses his income during prime time due to this. It is typical to make up the damage you have done by paying a cleaning fee when you or your dog does something nasty in a cab like that. If you cannot or will not pay your fare including any damage you have done, the cab driver has been trained to call the police, and can hold you there until the police arrive. If it appears to you that you are being rescued by the police it is probably only that you are drunk and not thinking well at the time. Very unpleasant experience with Cab1225 and with dispatch. Called Monday November 24 to request a handicap pickup on Thanksgiving afternoon. Was assured a wheelchair van would be dispatched. Called to confirm on Wednesday afternoon. Of course, cab 1225 is just a regular cab dispatched to pick up my stepmother at rehab for a broken leg. She somehow managed to get in the vehicle. The driver rudely asked her several times if he was going to get paid and would not use his GPS to find our house- resulting in a surprisingly high fare. Told driver not to come back to pick her up. Called dispatch, told them not to send a cab for pickup unless it was a handicap vehicle. Of course they apologized for the mistake and said they would send a van. They sent our friend Cab1225 again. He did call first, but with his heavy accent my stepmother couldn't understand him. When he arrived, I walked out to the car and told him we didn't need him since he wasn't driving the handicap vehicle I specifically told both him and his dispatch I needed. He proceeded to swear and yell at me about wasting his time, a show I am sure my neighbors enjoyed. We took her back to rehab ourselves, one way trip of 15 miles for which Yellow Cab charged me $57. My 1 star review is based on several experiences. Let me tell you about last night. We were in the suburbs and planned on taking a cab home. We ordered our last drink and placed an order for a cab on their iPhone App. The app was stuck on "assigning a taxi" for greater than 25 minutes, so we got our tab, paid, walked out and called. When the dispatcher answered the phone, she explained that it will be another 37 minutes. Well, since we waited 25 minutes already, we decided to walk the 2 miles home and CANCEL the cab. For the next hour and a half, we received countless calls from Yellow that our cab was ready. What part CANCEL did they not understand on the APP and directly with the dispatcher???? This situation has repeated many other times. The only time that I had a good experience with Yellow is when I hailed a taxi downtown and there were no other interactions with the dispatch. read more
