I've Ubered around. Most recently in Atlanta Georgia and Louisville Kentucky. It looks like we may have Ubers in Athens, Alabama finally, which has been a rideshare desert the past 17 years I have lived here. My sorority sisters and I used a Facebook group called "Loudmouths" for our repeated trips to the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, and had trusted Uber drivers on our Facebook group to take us to and from the three day event. Because the festival is so hugely attended, the costs of everything skyrocket. Uber pricing does too! The Loudmouths helped us a. ensure we were getting a legitimate driver/ride for each Uber we took, and b. ensured we were charged the fees we arranged up front. I was surprised how many unethical Uber drivers there were in Louisville. Color me naive. Several times I nearly entered the wrong vehicle. I was grateful there were three of us to help keep it all on the up and up. My Uber in the Atlanta area was much appreciated! Anytime I have the opportunity to not drive in the Atlanta area is a blessing! This was a one-way trip, the driver arrived on time as promised, and charged the promised fee. It was an Uber win! The app is useful, easy to navigate, and Uber offers Uber Eats where they deliver restaurant meals (and I believe groceries) to your home/business. I do hope its true we have Uber available in Athens, Alabama. Our neighboring sister, Huntsville, Alabama has had Uber for years. Likely Huntsville has Lyft, too. read more

Uber in Paris works very poorly. The GPS often gets your address wrong. The "Berline" cars which are supposed be be luxury like Bkack cars in the US are often cars like Toyota Corolla where Uber Berline in Italy usually gets you a Mercedes or high end BMW. Your pickup address often gets switched for no apparent reason. And often you are asked to walk far to another pickup location instead of the one you requested. For the most part, we had great experiences using Uber Paris. We used it from and to the airport. We used it for nighttime activities, and occasionally other times. With the exception of this one questionable driver, we encountered drivers, who were friendly, helpful and those who made awesome recommendations. At the outset, we were quite pleased that the experience was going very well. On this one particular evening, we had an experience where the driver took a long time to arrive, then pulled up on the opposite side of the busy two-way street and just stared at us instead of attempting to pull up to the actual address. Mind you, we were wearing stilettos, so navigating traffic was dicey and uncomfortable. After finally making our way across the busy street near the trending, novel restaurant, where we dined, we reached to open the car door and the driver abruptly sped off. His actions seemed so calculated, The way he patiently waited for the approach and left as he did was completely insane. The situation was unjustified. Needless to say, we found his behavior both astonishing and frightening. Not only could he have run over our feet, but he also jeopardized our safety by having us cross the busy street to access his car. We were neither reimbursed for the failed dispatch nor his despicable behavior. Aside from that horrible experience, all of the other driver's followed protocol while understanding what it means to work for a ride sharing service. We waited in the rain at Orly for three Uber drivers in order, who did not show up at the ride sharing pickup area, then canceled. They had the temerity to bill us for one of those rides. We walked the 100 metres or so to the official taxi stand where a very capable driver drove us to our hotel in Paris for the flat rate of 36 euros. We will never use Uber again, at least in Paris. read more

I ordered an Uber ride displayed at €11. Upon arrival, they charged me €21 without me ever agreeing to this higher price. If I had seen €21, I would have chosen another service. When I reported the issue, here is their official response: ("We understand that the final fare of your trip was higher than what you expected. We have reviewed your trip and confirm that the final fare is correct. In some cases, factors beyond our control, such as increased traffic during your trip, roadworks, or unexpected detours, can affect the final price of the trip.") In plain words, Uber shows a fixed fare, then charges more, and justifies it with traffic or roadworks: this is a deceptive business practice. I strongly recommend using Bolt, Heetch, or any other competitor that respects the displayed fare. Uber has been relying on its old quasi-monopoly, but with such practices, they're losing it -- and that's a good thing. read more

Uber Paris provides an easy way to get around and allows you the convenience of a Cab, where and when no Cabs can be found. Some of the side street in Paris have very little traffic. Even the major streets seem to have limited cab service at different times of the day. We waited and waited outside Musée d'Orsay and on Champs de Mars and eventually gave up. Instead I opened my Uber App on our phone and we were on the go again in minutes. Now we love the Paris Métro, but sometimes Uber is just simply easier. read more

Put my hotel in app to prebook morning trip to CDG. Used address supplied. No driver in AM though texted "I'm here." He wasn't . . . indeed, he was a couple of miles away. Seems app supplied address incorrect. Wanted us to drag bags two miles in 15 minutes; refused to come to hotel and cancelled our trip. Had to book another from wife's phone. Now here'e the kicker--tried to charge us $50 fee for their address screw up and their driver's choice to cancel. So we disputed. Now here's the kicker: There is no way to contact a human--none. After dispute--within three days--sent a note saying that they wouldn't refund because trip was more than 30 days ago (this coming four days after trip). Once again, you select trip in *their* app. And, once they tell you to f**k off, there is no way to escalate. None. AmEx is, however, refusing to pay, at least for now. I have never experienced such totally abysmal customer service. That said and in all fairness, the second driver, booked through wife's app, was prompt, courteous, and gave us exceptional service. But I am absolutely unwilling to deal further with any company that leaves me stranded on a foreign street corner and then tries to bill for their own screw up. read more

I had rented an electric bike through Lime on the Uber app. The bike was defective and would not accelerate. I only traveled maybe 30 yards and had to pull over and search for another bike. I was charged for this 30 yard ride and trying to get a refund through Lime is incredibly difficult and frustrating. And I still have not received it. I think they will just assume I will ignore and forget about the three to dollar charge. read more

Attacked by Uber driver While in Paris I ordered a regular Uber. Uber switched it to a "cash only ride" . I never heard of such a thing and was not told . I have taken Uber many times. The driver did not speak English and showed his phone that said pay driver €11.98. I thought it was a scam and said no I don't pay drivers and got out. The driver got out grabbed me and pushed me against a wall and was screaming at me . I told him to wait in French and call my family. I'm 75 and medium slender build like the 25 year old driver. When my large 215 pound 6'1" son came out the driver face went from rage to oh shit. The guy didn't notice he was standing on a 2 1/2 inch step as my daughter in law was in front of my son off the step so he was towering over him. Driver said I pushed the cash only button. I paid just to end the situation , reported it to the police and will sue Uber when I return to SFO. Take Bolt ride hailing service instead of Uber out side the US and Lyft inside. read more

The first time I used Uber was in Paris and it worked out perfectly. I was a little nervous about being in France outside Paris and not speaking French. So, using Uber in a foreign land was adventurous. First of all I didnt even know if it was legal! That was back when alot of backlash was occurring from long-established industries like limo, taxi and car for hire businesses. Im happy to report that from the time I used Uber at the airport, throughout Paris, and on my return to the airport(challenging,more on that later) Everything went without a glitch. Uber is a multinational company, as Americans maybe used to being spoiled by options. Well here in France need to be diligent as pricing is terrible. Looking at the Uber app the 2km ride was 25 euros and actually taking a cab was 8. To Uber - fix your pricing 300% over the cab is not acceptable. Not a customer in Europe. read more

Before I knew it an Uber driver was at my door (less than 5 minutes) and when he texted me that he would be here within 2 minutes I immediately told him not to come but he said he didn't get my reply. We used Uber for a few times while in France and the service was terrible, to say the least. Drivers are rude and in two occasions we had to walk 3 blocks to get to the driver! This, even when for the driver would have been easy to just go around. In the US we go the extra mile to fulfill the customer's needs (Yes, I used to be an Uber driver a few years ago). In Paris, if the customer doesn't run, literally, to get the Uber, well then, he/she is doomed! All drivers we had kept talking by phone while driving. Uber Headquarters are located in San Francisco, so we are no strangers to using the service. When in London and Paris, we used Uber to get around town when we weren't walking or taking the train. Since we were traveling as a group of 6, we always needed to upgrade to a larger van. We always got a Mercedes Sprinter Type Van which provided everyone with ample room and when we were leaving - all of our luggage too. Many of our drivers were fun and accommodating, we listened to their music and tried to enjoy the rides as much as possible. I liked having the option to take uber at any time and from anywhere, everything set up as it was at home with payment options and utilizing the same app. Makes it really easy to get around wherever you are in the world. read more

We've been in Paris for approx 1 week and we've taken around 15 Uber trips. We mainly used UberX; once was a Berline. We haven't had a bad experience yet. All the cars were clean, about 1/3 of the time the car was a an C Class or BMW 3 series with UberX. Two main differences between Paris and the States; the quality of car and the drivers. None of the trips we took involved faulty suspensions, squeaky brakes or worn out seats. All cars were vacuumed out. The cars were very clean and nice. Now for the drivers; they all seemed to take on the job as a professional. All we're dressed appropriately; (4) of them had suits. They all seemed to act like a driver, as if this was a profession and not a 1 hour gig. So the Metro is probably cheaper, but the Uber drivers are pretty good here; 5 stars. read more

I was very impressed with Uber in Paris, on my recent trip having used them 5 times, with all experiences being good/excellent apart from one which was very bad, in a new format for my review today, I am going to talk about each experience on a separate basis. TRIP 1 Jamal: My first trip with Uber while in Paris, was very good, I just found it easy to be able to type in the postcodes of where I am and where I want picking up, to request a taxi without having to bother, and use all my data and minutes finding a taxi number and phoning it, and then trying to explain with the language difference, with Uber that's all done for you. The price was quite cheap as well costing just over 12 euros, with a base fair of a single one euro, considering I was in the car for 18 minutes and traveled 6 1/2 kilometers the fair and the time of the journey wasn't bad at all. The driver even let me charge my phone during the ride, he passed me his charger so I could charge it on the back seat, which was nice of him TRIP 2 Walid: This was my return journey from Trip 1 on the following day, I was in the car slightly longer at 20 minutes, and traveled slightly longer at just over 8 kilometers, but I didn't mind this as the trip didn't cost much more at 14.18 euros, and the driver did seem to try and show me the sights. He spoken very good English and seemed really friendly, we talked about how he is training to be a chef and actually cooks pizza, which he said after he saw my pizza boxes to take back to the hotel, he seemed nice enough about it and didn't mind that I wanted to travel with food either. He shown me some parts of Paris I had not yet seen, and told me a bit of information about them, which made it seem really nice to get me to see more of Paris, which was nice of him. TRIP 3 Papi Trip 3 with Uber saw me take trip just over 16km away from my hotel to the Stade de France, for a tour later on in the day at the stadium, which sadly was disappointing, but at least the journey wasn't. Considering the distance, the price was also quite reasonable costing 23.71 euros for a trip which taken just over 26 minutes, I was pleased the journey was quite quick, and the driver helped us get there as quick as possible so I didn't miss my tour and also seemed friendly enough. TRIP 4 Mourad: This was the worst of my Uber experiences in Paris, and perhaps one of my worst taxi experiences overall, the driver was very rude and unwelcoming, it took quite a while to find him, and he expected me to walk to the other side of the stadium to find him, despite him knowing where I was on the phone GPS, he got really angry with me and when I eventually found him, he was on the other side of the road to where he told me he was, which was just outside the gate. He then refused to pull his window down, and then got out of the car and shouted at me and refused to carry me due to my luggage, he told me I had to rebook and he cancelled the journey, as it was over 5 minutes since booking, I was charged a 5 euro cancellation fee. I was very upset about this considering how rude he was and felt he may had been discriminating against me for not being where he wanted me to be, and just seemed rather rude. I knew my luggage would fit, having got the same exact car, an Opel Insignia on the way there with Papi, and it was literally the size of one small bag.and he seemed more scared of damaging his car and extra weight, so refused to carry me I complained to Uber about this, and they were nice enough to refund my money as credit in my account. TRIP 5 Sergio After the disaster with Mourad, I tried to request a taxi with Uber and Sergio got me home without a fuss, he didn't seem to speak English other than the basic Hello, Thankyou etc, but he seemed polite, and smart in his suit and got me home in a reasonably quick fashion, which was slightly more expensive than the return journey, taking longer in both kilometers and time. Overall, Uber is great in Paris with really nice drivers, nice cars, which are more modern, and helps you to enjoy a special, safer service without worrying about the language barrier or getting ripped off, so they do deserve 4 stars and Uber in Paris helps set an example for Uber in other cities, and they deserve a solid 4 stars, I'm pleased to report. Uber have also recently launched Ubereats in Paris, which is similar to Deliveroo and UberPOOL, which is 30% cheaper and they pick up someone else going your direction, which is pretty cool and more eco-friendly too, services currently not launched in most cities, including my home town of Manchester. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE UBER!!! Paris was the first place that I really had first hand experiences with how the app works. I had been part of the rides my friends were UBERing in Chicago, but here, my boyfriend and I got to see how it really works. We used Uber 2-3 times per day and to/from the airport so got to meet a lot of drivers and all of them were so cool and nice and efficient! Uber was a great way to travel and much more economical for us. The airport ride was 35 Euros and we even got a discounted rate for using the Uberpool (even though no one else ended up riding with us! - it is a deeper discount if there is someone else). The only problem we ran into was trying to find the Wi-Fi to get a driver! Great great experience with Uber in Paris and definitely recommend this service! read more

Why is Uber so not dependable. It takes forever to get a cab to actually come... I've lived here for a year and it's a god damn nightmare

I booked my Uber late the night before for a ride on 4/23/18 from my hotel in Paris, The Waldorf Trocedero, to Charles de Gaul airport. The app confirmed and scheduled my pickup for 5:15 am for 45euros. I checked my bank account and $100.07 was taken out. 53.72 is the American dollar for 45 euro. After dealing with Uber online several times, they told me I had scheduled my ride during a "SURGE" time. I didnt see that anywhere and they won't do anything about it. At 5:15 in the morning there is no one on the road! No traffic, no construction, no reason for additional charge. It's a SCAM. WATCH OUT UBER USERS. They don't care about their customers so it'll happen to you too. They didn't care to do anything not even a portion or a 1 time exception. They didn't want to even listen to my issue. read more

I highly recommend Uber in Paris. We used Uber twice in Paris, and our experience was much better than using taxis. Both Uber drivers had nice clean cars, and were friendly and careful drivers. The 2nd Uber driver gave us free water bottles and asked us if the AC was ok. At the time of this review, it's not possible to use Uber to and from the airport. But I highly recommend them for rides to other places. We used Uber to get to the train station in Paris, and also for a ride back to our hotel, when my feet were tired of walking. read more

Overall easy to get an uber anytime of day. I read good reviews here about smartly dressed drivers and clean cars. I didn't have that experience and don't care what drivers wear but do care about actual car. My most recent ride was 35min to CDG. Driver arrived promptly and was very nice (even with language barrier as my French is very limited). Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the car. I get that France smokes like the US used decades ago but the car was so smoky that windows had cigarette grime. I don't care if the driver is a smoker but my preference is not to depart smelling like I am as well. My hair, clothes, and bag smell of smoke and I'm not a fan. Maybe uber will add a non-smoking car option? read more

Coming from NY I use this here and there when I can't get a yellow cab. We had early flight from CDG, so couldn't take train. Our generic unhelpful hotel clerk said he can arrange a cab for 60 euro. Uh ok? Like 70-80$ I don't think so what a SCAM to prey on toursits. Sure enough I checked UBER on my cellphone and my app worked, I did uber carpool and we didn't even pick anyone else up in the way. Came to total or 27 Euro!! That's more like It. I actually think it's cheaper than in NY! Definitely recommend it, as its reliable and you're in control not having to worry about a taxi scamming you as the trip is pre set and you get a final gps map of the route taken to ensure u weren't taken long way ! make sure for a cheaper option you select CARPOOL not any of the other ones. read more

I have to say I was not a Uber believer, but spending 5 days in Paris (8/20 to 8/24) changed my mind. My daughters fiancee used Uber via his iPhone app to shuttle us to different places in Paris for 5 days. The cars came within 2 to 3 minutes, always a dark colored car, very friendly driver, opening up the car doors for us. Some of them spoke little English, but we got to our destinations. The drivers were always dressed in a dress shirt (most of them white) and dark pants, very clean. They always had water available (it was hot in Paris). Payment was done automatically, no fuss with money or credit card. We were able to use Uber to go to the airport Fantastic job Uber Paris!!! read more

I have to say while in Paris, I used Uber often; it was easy, fast and effortless. The Uber app lets you know what type of cars are in the area, I did notice that the UberX wasn't really available I did go with UberBerline most of the time. And that most drivers were anywhere from 6 minutes to 15 minutes away, plus the add allows you to see who your driver is and well as they see a picture of you. I used Uber a bit while in Paris, the only time I had any issues was when leaving for the airport, I had a driver confirm pick up but then 10 minutes later cancel the trip, but no big deal I found another Uber driver and off the airport I went! Absolutely 100% wonderful! My sole purpose in using this service was to get my butt and my I-was-in-Paris-for-a-month luggage to the airport at zero-dark-thirty on a random Wednesday morning. I didn't like my chances of a taxi driving by the tiny side street on which the apartment was located, so when my host suggested Uber, I was game to try it. While I can't speak to getting from the airport to Paris, getting from Paris to the airport was a total cinch with Uber. After signing up (with a great coupon code - don't forget to look for that first!), I installed the app on my phone. The next morning, at 7:50AM, I ordered up an UberPop car for the bargain price of 30 Euros. Yes, 30 EUROS TO THE AIRPORT. I thought I was dreaming when I saw that price, but nope...that's the regular price for a trip to CDG from the Right Bank. Amazing. For comparison, I had taken a taxi from the airport to the apartment late at night (i.e., not much traffic), and the cost at that time was a little over 50 Euros. So yeah, 30 Euros. Awesome. The driver was wonderful, on time (~5 minutes from ordering it to arrival!), and helpful. He didn't speak much English, but that's fine....all he really needed to know was where I was going. We did chat a tiny bit between my paltry French and his English. When the sun began to glare through the windows, he even pointed out the sunshades on his car, which itself was spotless and free of odors. I would definitely recommend Uber to anyone traveling in Paris, and yes, if/when I go back, I'll be using it again for my airport trips at the very least. Merci beaucoup! read more

I am SOOO glad I looked up Uber Paris on Yelp before I moved here to Study Abroad. I most likely would have shied away from using it if it were not for all of the great reviews. It is perfect. Seriously. I have been in both Uber X and Uber Black in the US. Uber X Paris is ALWAYS on the level of UBER Black US and sometimes is even better. The drivers are always professionally dressed. I don't think I have been in an Uber here that didn't have leather seats. They move the passenger seat up so you always have ample leg room. There has been some type of drink and or candy in every car. It is great. It has been a life saver. Sometimes, you just want to ride in a car you know? LOL the metro is exhausting and Uber is always there when I need a break or need to get somewhere quickly. I don't have a data plan, here so I am running off Wi-Fi only. This sucked when I was at the airport. Def. missed my Uber..it is too large for them to find you without a phone call. But I added money to my Google Talk so I can now communicate with the driver if needed. If you pick up location, however, is exact, no phone call is necessary. Give them a try. I fell in love with UBER in Paris! I never used Uber back home in NYC but when we came to Paris the cabs were crazy expensive. We Uber'd a car from the airport and virtually everywhere else throughout the city. Wow, how come UBER can't be this great in the US! I used Uber twice, on my past trip to Paris! We were way too tired from walking the whole day, so we decided to use Uber to save us a trip from the subway! We requested Uberx on both trips, because there was 4 of us. And wow!! Both times, came a nice and shiny BMW to pick us up! The drivers were not very chatty, but they greeted us nicely when we got in and were very fast at getting us to our location! They even had bottle water ready for us in all of the cup holders! Very refreshing after a long hot day! And to top it off! After they dropped us off - they opened the door for us each time! Wow, this never happened to me in San Francisco! Excellent plus! Highly recommend! From the Eiffel Tower to the Latin Quarter it only cost us 13 Euros! Not bad if you divide that by 4 and it definitely beat taking the subway! TOtally worth it! read more

I will be paying Verizon $10 daily to be able to use my American phone in Paris but I am afraid that means the driver will not be able to find me since he can't call me unless he has whatsapp/wifi. Seriously, as everyone is stating Uber in Paris just works amazingly. I imagine it is how Uber worked originally in the US with more of the luxury/black car concept at affordable pricing. It seems most all the US Ubers are UberX and this is probably why. Since I run a study abroad program, sometimes I need to get places quickly and the metro is just not as efficient an option as hopping in a car. read more

Uber is fine going TO the airport. But my experience when I arrived at CDG to go to into Paris was that I had no way to find the driver. And no cell phone -- I hadn't put in my French SIM card. So no way to reach the driver. CDG is huge so impossible to look without some communication. So Uber needs fine-tuning for visitors arriving at a big airport with no cell phone capability. read more

Had a rash of being overcharged in Paris. Quoted one price and charged a higher price 3 times. Complained to Uber and told the driver took a bad route and I was responsible for higher price. Had some great drivers here in Paris, but also had one driver make us get out of his car 1 mile away because "traffic is too heavy". Uber corporate very unresponsive. read more

Hands down BEST taxi service in Paris. I switched to UBER the second it arrived in Paris, after having been ripped off by G7 and several airport cab drivers. I have sat in cabs that the taxi driver apparently lives in, without showering, while eating garlic and onions, for days..
