Taking an Uber to Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Aéroport very early one morning.

Uber Paris provides an easy way to get around and allows you the convenience of a Cab, where and when no Cabs can be found. Some of the side street in Paris have very little traffic. Even the major streets seem to have limited cab service at different times of the day. We waited and waited outside Musée d'Orsay and on Champs de Mars and eventually gave up. Instead I opened my Uber App on our phone and we were on the go again in minutes. Now we love the Paris Métro, but sometimes Uber is just simply easier.

We've been in Paris for approx 1 week and we've taken around 15 Uber trips. We mainly used UberX; once was a Berline. We haven't had a bad experience yet. All the cars were clean, about 1/3 of the time the car was a an C Class or BMW 3 series with UberX. Two main differences between Paris and the States; the quality of car and the drivers. None of the trips we took involved faulty suspensions, squeaky brakes or worn out seats. All cars were vacuumed out. The cars were very clean and nice. Now for the drivers; they all seemed to take on the job as a professional. All we're dressed appropriately; (4) of them had suits. They all seemed to act like a driver, as if this was a profession and not a 1 hour gig. So the Metro is probably cheaper, but the Uber drivers are pretty good here; 5 stars.

I was very impressed with Uber in Paris, on my recent trip having used them 5 times, with all experiences being good/excellent apart from one which was very bad, in a new format for my review today, I am going to talk about each experience on a separate basis. TRIP 1 Jamal: My first trip with Uber while in Paris, was very good, I just found it easy to be able to type in the postcodes of where I am and where I want picking up, to request a taxi without having to bother, and use all my data and minutes finding a taxi number and phoning it, and then trying to explain with the language difference, with Uber that's all done for you. The price was quite cheap as well costing just over 12 euros, with a base fair of a single one euro, considering I was in the car for 18 minutes and traveled 6 1/2 kilometers the fair and the time of the journey wasn't bad at all. The driver even let me charge my phone during the ride, he passed me his charger so I could charge it on the back seat, which was nice of him TRIP 2 Walid: This was my return journey from Trip 1 on the following day, I was in the car slightly longer at 20 minutes, and traveled slightly longer at just over 8 kilometers, but I didn't mind this as the trip didn't cost much more at 14.18 euros, and the driver did seem to try and show me the sights. He spoken very good English and seemed really friendly, we talked about how he is training to be a chef and actually cooks pizza, which he said after he saw my pizza boxes to take back to the hotel, he seemed nice enough about it and didn't mind that I wanted to travel with food either. He shown me some parts of Paris I had not yet seen, and told me a bit of information about them, which made it seem really nice to get me to see more of Paris, which was nice of him. TRIP 3 Papi Trip 3 with Uber saw me take trip just over 16km away from my hotel to the Stade de France, for a tour later on in the day at the stadium, which sadly was disappointing, but at least the journey wasn't. Considering the distance, the price was also quite reasonable costing 23.71 euros for a trip which taken just over 26 minutes, I was pleased the journey was quite quick, and the driver helped us get there as quick as possible so I didn't miss my tour and also seemed friendly enough. TRIP 4 Mourad: This was the worst of my Uber experiences in Paris, and perhaps one of my worst taxi experiences overall, the driver was very rude and unwelcoming, it took quite a while to find him, and he expected me to walk to the other side of the stadium to find him, despite him knowing where I was on the phone GPS, he got really angry with me and when I eventually found him, he was on the other side of the road to where he told me he was, which was just outside the gate. He then refused to pull his window down, and then got out of the car and shouted at me and refused to carry me due to my luggage, he told me I had to rebook and he cancelled the journey, as it was over 5 minutes since booking, I was charged a 5 euro cancellation fee. I was very upset about this considering how rude he was and felt he may had been discriminating against me for not being where he wanted me to be, and just seemed rather rude. I knew my luggage would fit, having got the same exact car, an Opel Insignia on the way there with Papi, and it was literally the size of one small bag.and he seemed more scared of damaging his car and extra weight, so refused to carry me I complained to Uber about this, and they were nice enough to refund my money as credit in my account. TRIP 5 Sergio After the disaster with Mourad, I tried to request a taxi with Uber and Sergio got me home without a fuss, he didn't seem to speak English other than the basic Hello, Thankyou etc, but he seemed polite, and smart in his suit and got me home in a reasonably quick fashion, which was slightly more expensive than the return journey, taking longer in both kilometers and time. Overall, Uber is great in Paris with really nice drivers, nice cars, which are more modern, and helps you to enjoy a special, safer service without worrying about the language barrier or getting ripped off, so they do deserve 4 stars and Uber in Paris helps set an example for Uber in other cities, and they deserve a solid 4 stars, I'm pleased to report. Uber have also recently launched Ubereats in Paris, which is similar to Deliveroo and UberPOOL, which is 30% cheaper and they pick up someone else going your direction, which is pretty cool and more eco-friendly too, services currently not launched in most cities, including my home town of Manchester.

But the customer service left much to be desired... I travelled with G7 wheelchair accessible taxis twice, the first time (from train station to our hotel) was ok, no issue - there was only 2 of us with little luggage. The second time a few days after (from our hotel to CDG airport) was pretty disappointing. We booked one day in advance, was confirmed through the phone that the taxi would be sufficient for 3 people (one on wheelchair) and 6 pieces of luggage - we were very specific and repeated our request many times. The time came and the taxi showed up was barely enough for 2 person with 2 suitcases. The taxi driver complained non-stop - how was it our fault??? The third person in our group had to catch another taxi. The most annoying part was when the taxi driver refused to take my own suitcase but took my friend's (the one catching the other taxi) because my friend's was smaller and lighter. My friend who was a small girl was able to carry my suitcase so how could the driver - a big strong man - not? So rude and lazy!!! We needed to get to the airport on time so didn't have time to going back and forth with him. So in the end my friend had to carry my suitcase with her on the other taxi and left hers with us...

I highly recommend that you avoid using this company if you value your safety…read more My girlfriend and I had gone up Paris for the day as I was proposing to her. The day was amazing and everything went to plan, until the journey back to the airport. There were no trains from Paris to CDG airport so we were stuck at Gare Du Nord station trying to find a bus. After several failed attempts we decided to get a taxi so as not to miss our flight. Google Maps suggested Chauffeur Privé and said it would cost around 45 euros. So I downloaded the app and managed to find a taxi driver nearby. After we booked, he called to say he was nearby. He came in good time, despite some traffic and confirmed that we would get to the airport in time. I was happy with this, but I was soon very alarmed by his driving. I know that Paris has a reputation for erratic drivers, but he was beyond that. On 4 different occasions throughout the journey he nearly crashed into other cars. On two of those occasions he raced after the cars and wound his window down to hurl abuse at the drivers, gesturing and swearing. While doing this he did not have his eyes on the road. We felt very unsafe. He did get us to the airport on time, but we were a bit shaken up and it was not a nice end to what had been a lovely day for us. I then learned that I was being charged 75 euros for the journey which I find appalling as I was quoted a cheaper price. I complained via the app and was at first offered an email apology. Then after expressing my dissatisfaction again, I was offered 5 euros of credit to my account on the app and 200 loyalty points. I explained that I have no use for this as I was only visiting for a day and will not use the app again, but they didn't seem to care and said they could do nothing else. I also think 5 euros is a disgusting offer as they had hiked up the price so much in the first place and also showed how little they care about the safety of their passengers. If you value your life and your money, use another company such as Uber or a local taxi driver. If you use this company, you'll probably live to regret it, if you live at all! André

Welcome Pickups came onto my radar when airbnb, seeing I had an upcoming reservation for a Paris lodging, offered Welcome Pickups as a means of transportation to that lodging. It worked out so smoothly that I went ahead and booked through them again when I needed to return to CDG Airport. On both ends of the journey my driver was easy to locate, arrived on-schedule, helped with baggage, and provided a most comfortable trip to and from the airport in a clean car being safely driven. One direction ran €52, the other €54. The convenience? Priceless. I notice some unfavorable reviews of Welcome Pickups here on yelp, but not for their services in Paris. In Paris, my experience is that this company operates professionally and responsibly. I'd happily use their services again, when next in Paris.

The Uber service in London and Paris were lacking with long wait times and plenty of cancellations. The taxis were available in most cities although very expensive. During the second half of our European adventure we began using the Welcome Pickups service to provide transfers from our hotel to airport and vice versa. The transfers went seamless in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Ireland and Scotland. Each driver notified me through WhatsApp twenty-four hours prior to the pre-determined pickup location and included a photo of the vehicle, name and phone number of the driver. In addition, the driver monitored my flight progress taking into consideration of delays to prepare adjustments for pickup or drop off times. The drivers notified me upon arrival, which was always fifteen minutes early at the hotel curb or waiting in the immediate area. They introduced themselves and assisted placing all bags into their vehicle. During the comfy rides, each driver was chatty providing a brief historic education of the area. What a difference with Uber or Lyft drivers (if they actually show up) who merely get you from point A to point B with zero verbal interaction. The transfer service was approximately $50.00 per use. Tipping of course is always optional, especially in Europe, but we gave 5€ every ride. Since I never heard if this transfer service I was hesitant and a non believer thinking it would be the same as other ride share companies in the States - I admit that I was wrong. I highly recommend Welcome Pickups for long or time sensitive rides throughout Europe and will definitely use them again and promote it's A+ service to friends and family.
