When I called the help line, I was on hold for 14 minutes only for a recording to come on and say "thank you for calling Uber, blah, blah, blah" it repeated itself again then said it could not hear me and to call back. Tried calling back, was on hold for too long and hung up. They will only help by sending a message, then take a day to respond with something that is not helpful or ask you to send them the information that you sent in the original complaint. read more

Used to be reliable. What happened? It takes more than a half an hour to reach a driver only to be connected with a kid driver who cancels the ride suddenly and leaves me stranded, sometimes in the Arizona heat. Every know and then I will actually be connected to a driver who will actually accept the ride. But I have a greater chance of going through 2 or 3 kid drivers who will abruptly cancel the ride. Avoid Uber if you have to be anywhere at a certain time. I am repeatedly having to call and tell my boss I will be late for work because I cannot count on a reliable driver anymore. What happened that they always "have to" cancel when they are 2 minutes away from picking me up? I even saw one girl drive right past me and cancel the ride, and I had to wait in the 112 degree hear with my 70 year old blind mother waiting for someone who was an hour away to finally pick us up. I'm fed up with being late for work because drivers will not accept the ride. I recommend Lyft instead. read more

Taken über plenty of times and always happy and satisfied. Even impressed about their growth and branding. However, once you get taken financially advantage of the taste has turned sour. Took a five minute ride down the street and was charged $70. I get the surge but $70 for five minutes. A 30 minute ride would've been a car payment. Reached out to Uber and spoke with two different representatives and they stood behind this robbery. Horrible follow-up. My first bad Yelp review. Well my last review got reported by some ahole (yeah Yelp censors can screw themselves and I'm not sorry) but I'm writing one again to say... Bottom line: UBER in Phoenix is great! I got rides from both a black car at the airport and an UberX later in the day. Both of my drivers were very polite and helpful. One of them was even from my homeland DC! The pick up at PHX Sky Harbor is outside the baggage claim near Door 7. Don't request your car until you are near the door because I requested on the wrong side of the room and he got there early. They're everywhere around here and the rates are awesome. Way better than a cab plus the cars smell good and the drivers speak English. No hassles, just a nice time with no cash needed. I want to write a warning that when you use a promotional code listed below in the tips, you are using someone's personal code that earns them free rides for their own benefit. Awesome referral service on Uber's part but not permitted by Yelp. Considering Yelp allows people to create empty profiles to promote their Uber code, I posted mine as well - and my long detailed review was deleted. Leave it to yelp to target elite members and allow non-active users to prosper. If you want to use a referral code, use it from someone who you actually know or want to support, NOT a fake profile troll. Guess what though... people used my short-lived code and I got a bunch of free rides anyway. The Uber talk thread inspired me to write this review. I'm a fan of Uber and here's why: + Easy to use app, which allows you to order your ride with a variety of choices....from a regular car to a black car, it's all there. + Easy to interpret and all inclusive price (tip included). + Drivers are friendly.....with over 50 rides, I have yet to come across a bad driver or one with a bad attitude. + The app will tell you the wait time and graphically show you the progress of the driver. + If you have to make a change to your pickup spot, you can text or call the driver directly and make changes on the fly. I've had to do this a few times after a Suns game when they closed off the streets around the arena and I didn't realize that until after I ordered the car.....we just walked a couple of blocks over and texted the driver our new location, all went well. + Your receipt is emailed to you....this makes turning in expense reports EXTREMELY easy....some cab companies don't have receipt printers in the cabs or oftentimes they don't work. Uber made me miss my first ride & a very important appointment. They say my card is invalid, yet it worked fine elsewhere. These "virtual" service things have no customer service and no way to fix the problem. Also the fare estimate was same as a "real" taxi and pickup time was same too. Horrible customer support. My account was hacked and I notified them. While my credit card did not allow the charges (thankfully), Uber indicated that they would do nothing to correct account issues because several similar trips had been taken. Interesting fact, the trips in question happened in England. I notified them that I had never traveled to England. That fact did not seem to matter to them. Do not use Uber if you need to rely on them to get to the airport. I scheduled a ride a day before my planned trip. I received a notification a driver had been assigned. At the time of my scheduled pick up I waited 10minutes only to receive a notification that no driver was available. Since I was going to the airport for a previously booked flight this was a major issue. The $10 credit for my inconvenience is of little use when trying to make it to the airport. Do not rely on Uber to meet your travel needs, they are unreliable, unprofessional and have no understanding of how their failure impacts their customers. read more

First time using Uber and wasn't sure what to expect. Its a neat concept for both passengers and drivers, but seems weird that drivers are only loosely affiliated with the company. It was sort of going out on a limb to give an unknown individual trust with my safety and time. But, I'm glad I tried this out. Its a very simple registration process in which you give them your name, number and provide the method of payment on your phone or computer. Using your phone you input your location and they give you the estimated time of arrival. The time quoted to me was fairly accurate but not to the exact minute. I'd suggest adding 3-5 minutes to the quoted time to be safe. Receipt is emailed to you and driver lets you know how much will be charged to the card on file. No money is exchanged and no tip is pressured on you, although for the money you save using them and provided service is good, its definitely cool of you to hand the guy 20% in cash if you have it. Even after a generous tip your fare is likely to still be cheaper than a standard taxi rate. There is currently no way to add in a tip on the card they charge just as a heads up. A real friendly guy named David picked me up in a nice Lexus suv. From start to finish he was very helpful, super polite and extremely friendly. He was also very aware of his job and didn't treat the ride as a casual lift from point A to point B, he genuinely cared that I arrived as quickly and safely as possible. I was amazed at the final rate to the airport for $12. Overall A+ experience and will definitely use Uber for future rides. I just hope that other drivers will live up to the same experience I had today. read more

Love Uber so I gave all my children and grandchildren my "personal promo code" (riob4) for $30 off first ride and I entered my payment information into their phones. So when they use my children/grandchildren use first there first ride I'm supposed to get A reciprocal $30 ride credit... I got neither I got billed for the trap over $30 and received no referral bonus as promised. I did all of this to keep both my children and the streets safe. I'm an Uber loyalist!! I've used Uber in Phoenix a handful of times and in San Francisco and San Diego as well. My Phx Uber drivers have all been absolutely stellar. They know where they are going, their price comes in at or under the estimate, they're friendly, the vehicles are spotless, and they even offer bottled water. But here is why they get five stars: I recently reviewed an Uber ride in SF 3/5 stars. Not a horrible ride, but not great. The driver didn't really know the best way to get to the destination as one could plainly tell by the map of the route actually driven. In my book this is normal for a taxi, but NOT for Uber. I received an email the next day acknowledging the issue, telling me how they would attempt to prevent this problem in the future, AND gave me a $5 credit towards my next Uber ride. Uber provides a service and has top notch customer service to back it up. I wish all companies would do this! Lastly, the improvements they've been adding have all been welcome additions, such as the ability to split fares between people and the addition of UberX vehicles. I have not experienced any problems with the app on my iphone, which is icing on the cake. Do yourself a favor and start using Uber to get around town. With UberX, the prices will be even cheaper! read more

"Wait time" they call it. Guess what Uber? That's what taxis do. Uber is a great way to get from one place to another. It usually costs about 35% cheaper than a taxi and is faster that a bus or shuttle. This is when demand for a ride is high in a certain area, so they charge more. No worries if you don't know what this is because we you go to rrequest a ride, you will receive a pop up message that indicates the prices are higher now and you accept before proceeding. You get to also meet wonderful people when using Uber. The conversations and experiences you get to encounter are wonderful and really make you feel like you are part of a community. Über riders beware of Price Surge. Today what normally is a $9 to $11 ride from central Phoenix To Sky Harbor Airport cost me $43.00 due to Price Surge. I had accepted the charge thinking it was minimal. However it was nearly 300% increase! My driver was even horrified for me. I didn't have time to play with so I took the ride. I have used Uber a lot but am now going to a competing service that says it doesn't do price surges. I suspect that with Spring training games out in Phoenix Uber thought they could price surge even at 7am in the morning. I'm most disappointed in a service I used to rely on. My phone died after the last guy bailed on me so i had to walk to a convienance store where they called me a taxi who showed up promptly. Took my first Uber ride today. I did read all of the Yelp reviews online and some had me a little hesitant to try their service. I did speak to my son (an Uber user) and he assured me that it was safe and less expensive than a taxi service. I took Uber for an out-patient procedure so time was very importaant. Called Uber and they arrived within 3 minutes! I also called Uber for a ride home after my procedure and once again they were there within 5 miinutes. Hit & miss, you never really know. Many great drivers..but there are many different kinds. The following I have specifically had as drivers, including, but not limited to: *the "lost boy". They don't get paid just by ride but the time plays into the price as well. Every driver has gps not just by way of google maps or waze, but thru the Uber driver app. There's no excuse. They get lost. Miss the exit, oopsie, I didn't realize...and blasé blasé..For instance, at this very moment I'm in the very situation I just spoke of. My driver missed the exit. And then proceeded to laugh about it. I'm in no hurry, but if I needed to get to the airport and already running behind, well you can see how it might screw things up. Which prompted me to write this review. They make money by getting lost and taking forever. 2-the Creep - this one guy picked me up, tried to flex the entire 20 minute ride home and then got offended when on his words I "didn't ask my Uber driver up to my place for a shot of vodka" 3-the scary driver- not as in frightening but just skiddish and unsure of whether to go 49 or 51 so he constantly engages the accelerator, playing footsies with it, making you carsick.--again, this is the situation I am dealing with as well. Not only did he miss my exit but he's keeping me nauseous after I've repeatedly asked him to stop it. Maybe he thinks I'm someone else because I'm starting to think it's personal. 4- the quiet one - this guy is always okay with me. He keeps to himself, speaks only when spoken to, except for a hello and confirmation of passenger name and a goodbye. 5- the tour guide -- dude I live here; thanks but I got this..and I didn't ask, so there's that. 6- the forced conversationalist--this one obviously feels you won't tip him or rate him well if he doesn't ask you a ton of questions etc.."how is your day..." and pointless crap nobody cares about. Look dude I know you don't give a f about my day and I damn sure don't care about yours so let's just keep it moving. I'll tip you if you shut up. I scheduled a pickup for the following morning for a 5:15 am ride to the airport. I received a confirmation email along with all of the updates on the app. With less than one minute before our driver was to arrive, I received a notification that the driver canceled and they are looking for a new driver. Within one minute, I received another notification that there were no drivers available. We will never trust Uber to get us to the airport, or anywhere for that matter. read more

Well, that was easy. Someone gave my friend the link to sign up for Uber (I already had one). Our ride to the airport arrived within 5 minutes, his car was air-conditioned to the appropriate frostiness to withstand the 114 degree temperatures outside, he was very polite and chatty and told us a little about Uber works, we arrived safely and well ahead of our scheduled departure at the airport, and because of the $25 sign-up bonus, it only cost us $6 including tip for two people. Uber! I can't tell you how much I love this App! I am a religious Uber passenger, and with my nights out trying food and martinis around town, this is the app that get's me home safe. I use it for getting to the airport as well. Slightly more than a dirty, smelly cab ride, Uber gives you the option of either a towncar/SUV or UberX which is something I haven't tried yet, but is personal vehicles of new Uber Drivers. I can't tell you how many times I have had a cab come for me and not show up because they find someone else on the way. Uber app makes it so easy to have a car within 15 minutes all which you can see on your app where they are on the way. I will never take a cab again! Remember the tip is included!!! read more

Epic failures the last two time with Uber for pre scheduled 5AM pickups. Last two times Uber driver has cancelled 10 minutes after scheduled pickup and Uber was not able to replace driver for 20 minutes. If you live in the North West Phoenix you are better off with private car service until ride share is able to serve the area. read more

I am very disappointed in Uber and will NEVER use them again. I was given a promo code for an event. 2 rides up to $25 each ride. I added the promo code and received an email stating my promo was ready to use. I entered my 2 trips and my cc was charged instead for the full fare of each ride. I've spent the majority of today dealing with Uber help and they have refused to credit me and state the trips aren't eligible for the promo. I was hands on in planning this event and therefore am well aware of the promo. I really can't believe the lack of customer service and the inability for me to contact them in any way other than through help. I will be using other methods going forward as I personally don't support companies who make it a point to be greedy and make it inconvenient to work out difficult matters. read more

My 5 star rating is for the drivers I've had. User's app is easy to use and generally reliable, but there is really no customer contact with the company. I've several friends who drive for Uber and lyft. Neither company seems to give a fig for their drivers. Their views being that there will always be more people to drive so who needs to pay a decent wage. TIPS are not included in the fare. Treat the drivers like your friends and their cars like your dad's. Don't spill food or drinks, don't attempt to smoke. Don't expect drivers to provide waters, candy, gum or other"extras" if you're unwilling to TIP! As Uber does not provide these, don't expect the drivers to pay for it, especially on a $2.80 fare. Cost breakdown: $2.80 fare Gas- $0.35 Insurance - $0.97 Upkeep - $0.67 -------------------------------- Total: $1.99 So I guess the $0.81 is the TIP huh?? Not to mention time and frustration let alone vehicle value depreciation. So remember the next time you climb into the back of some poor uber driver's 2016 car you don't put your dirty shoes on their seats, you don't spill your soda or drip big Mac sauce all over the back of the seat. Tip your driver for putting up with your drunk butt and getting you home safely and saving you the cost and embarrassment of a DUI. Oh and FYI, uber charges passengers $200+ for vomit clean up! This is the most awesome practical transportation service! A friend left me stranded at the airport. Uber became my transportation best friend. I got a trip estimate, made my arrangements on the internet, immediately got a call from my driver, and he arrived to pick me up within 5 minutes. Don't make the arrangements until you are ready to be picked up. They are fast!!!! I also watched his route to my pick up point on the apps map. The driver was awesome and the complete experience was amazingly comfortable. I give UBER 10 plus. Don't waste your money or time on frustrating taxi's any longer. Uber beats the taxi prices hands down! UPDATE!! Okay, I became a driver for a short time. Eye opener!!! My viewpoint of my experience: I feel they overcharge customers and underpay drivers. The predetermined fee, I believe is based on the longest route which the customer must agree to and pay for. The driver, I believe, is paid based on the shortest route. Drivers must agree to their BS. Passengers will cheat the hell out of you and never blink an eye and they slam your car door. They rarely tip even if you go the extra mile to offer them water. Frequent Uber user in SFO, DC, NYC, and Dallas. Yesterday was a mess at DFW due to weather. 12 midnight put in request for Uber and updated App asks for destination. Driver called me to confirm and said would be there in 5 minutes. After 10 minutes I looked and the entire trip was gone and out of App. Driver had looked at the short trip and he CXL it. I called him three times and threatened to complain to Uber. Finally called me back and I was in another car and he lamely said he had a tire issue. He Cxl the request and abandoned me. The new driver Al told me he had heard of this a few times as Uber expands it's driver fleet. I reported to Uber support and they said the would give me a $10 credit. I gave them driver phone number to reprimand, but who knows. The expense account will get that credit and no good for my hassle.
