Called Uber to arrange a ride from hotel on Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach Fl to the WP Airport at 5:00AM for a 7:30AM flight. Uber app said 1 minute out, driver pulled into the hotel driveway, we were standing there and he drove right out! Obviously got a better option/fare and decide to leave us. We had to arrange a second Uber and rush to make our flight. Obviously, this is a terrible way to do business. Uber should have a mechanism to prevent or at least flag fares that have been made but not picked up. I've recently moved to an area where the USPS does not deliver packages and instead holds them at the post office. I tried to use their courier service to pick up a package since my car is in the shop. When my delivery driver got to the post office they would not let her pick up my package even though the delivery address and the address on the package matched, I also had the tracking number, but USPS would not give the driver my package because it was "for my protection". My driver called Uber support, they told her that I could give the post office my tracking number and I should be able to get the package. The workers at the post office told me "We are not giving her your packages, you need to come in and verify your identity, you can Uber here and get the packages, but we will not give them to your Uber driver. I find this odd since they don't ask for identification when they deliver to your home at all, half the time you don't even see the postal workers, so what's all this nonsense about identification? Also, isn't the entire point of the USPS to deliver packages and mail to your home? Obviously they're useless. Just wanted to warn people in my situation that the post office does not honor Ubers courier service. My driver was very sweet, and I felt like I wasted her time so I paid the full amount, now I'm out $27. Uber should have a warning that you can't get packages from the post office using Uber courier service, it would have saved me money and all of us the headache of trying to get the package... Uber is a breath of fresh air! Measured between a taxi, Uber is golden with its ease of use, nice rides, pricing, and comfortably. I have used Uber more times than I can count and definitely more times than a taxi in my entire life and can not be happier with the overall service! Ease of use is huge for me and made simple by the app you can download, with just a click of a button your driver is on their way with an ETA, picture of the driver, license plate number, and star rating. GPS uses your pick up location (always make sure this is accurate) then you can enter your destination or leave it open. No talking to dispatchers or trying to figure out your location, just a very nice- ease of use trip! Nice rides can not be more of an understatement. You can always expect a newer car (less than 10 years old) and for it to be clean, free of trash, cigarette smoke, and any unwanted smells. I have rode in multiple luxury cars and there are options on the app either for UberX or UberXL which is dependent upon your wants and car size! Prices on both are still much cheaper than a taxi. Pricing really can not be better for a car service/taxi-like service unless it was free. Uber is always atleast 40-50% cheaper than a taxi no matter where you are going. The drivers will even pickup/drop off multiple locations or wait for you if you just need to run inside somewhere quickly. Also, if you ever have a mistaken charge simple email Uber or write in the Feedback section of the driver and they will get back with you quickly. As an example, Uber needs to develop a system which keeps old model cars with sunken unpadded rear seats ( you feel the springs) off the road. Even with my fat behind, my ride back from Miami last month was a horror. My back hurt from all the bouncing around in a sunken back seat. Uber, get that car off the road! And drivers shouldn't over- odorize their cars with flowery scents. It makes me nauseous. That's what happened when I went to Port Everglades last Friday. And the cream colored carpeting was stained. PARENTS BEWARE!!! I have a 32 year old disabled son. I tried an experiment a couple of days ago. I added my son to my account and showed him how to use the APP. He was taking UBER from the Stadium Grill to our house. It is a 10 minute drive at 10 pm. I drove him to the venue to play poker in a poker league. I was notified when he ordered UBER. I noted that he had to wait 9 minutes for the driver. The driver showed up after the 9 minute wait. He arrived home in about 10 minutes, which is normal for that time of night. After the driver left I received a notification that I was charged $46 for a very short ride. I further noticed that the company charged me $31 for the ride and an additional $15 for a "scheduling fee." I am sure everyone reading this has waited about 10 minutes for an UBER. That is fine, but how can you possibly charge money for a scheduling fee. That is outrageous!!! Why would anyone agree to pay a fee for arriving at a specific time and then end up waiting outside the restaurant for 9 minutes? The company has been very evasive in their replies to my request for a refund. In the past I found them very accommodating. Not any longer. Also, I showed my son how to request an UBER. I was having a discussion with a few coworkers about how great Uber is & I suddenly realized that I never wrote a review. Wow, I know I am behind in my reviews, but I should have written this a long time ago. Yes, I am aware, Uber has its share of controversy. And with good reason. But for me, Uber has been spectacular. I am a nervous driver, so I drive slow, what can I say? I hate driving and I get sleepy doing highway driving and I hate driving in the rain. I know, your probably thinking, this is why Britt is still single, she's a real treat. But I get scared when I drive fast. Uber is my friend and we have a close relationship. I am loyal to my friends, especially Uber. In fact, Uber escorted me to our xmas party at Kuro and like a good friend, was waiting for me by the time I walked out the door. I am a lady on a budget, so I always pick the Uber X level which is the least expensive way to go. The cars have all been clean and new. You can upgrade to the higher levels, which include Uber XL, Luxury or Luxury SUV. When you put in your destination, you can compare the rates before you pick your level. Sometimes I sit in the front, sometimes in the back, it just depends on how chatty I am and how my initial contact with the driver is. Quite a few drivers have offered me bottled water which I appreciated. I have nothing negative to say about any of my trips. I love Uber. Uber is all done on the app. No money changes hands. Tipping is not required, in fact when I have tipped, all of my drivers made a point to remind me that it is not required or expected. I still tip every driver regardless of the no tipping policy. Every driver thanked me and told me how much they appreciated it. I am aware of the price surges on holidays etc. In my opinion, pay the surcharge and be safe. I never experienced a price surge so I can't really comment on what the percentage is. I find the app very user friendly and most of you know how technically challenged I am. So with that being said, if you haven't tried Uber, give them a chance. Most of my drivers have showed up in about five minutes. Give yourself extra time if requesting a car during rush hour. Like us, Uber drivers get stuck in traffic too. I love that once you request your car, they send you a picture of the driver along with the vehicle information. I also love the idea of the drivers rating the passengers as well as the passengers rating the drivers. My favorite part of the app is seeing exactly where the car is located as well as the clock that is pretty spot on in determining how long it will take the driver to get to you. So I finally tried Uber and must see it was pretty much everything I was expecting. Going out New Year's eve and I was sure of one thing, this ol boy wasn't driving. My driver Luke was very nice professional and pleasant but knew zero about payments..told me I could tip if I wanted and did not offer me a water or anything I had heard about from other uber users..the fair was 17 dollars from my house to mizner and 17 back...a little pricey in my opinion but it beats driving. not sure I would use it again I don't know how to rate my driver or if I paid.. The app was so easy to use, and the response time from pay to a phone call was so fast that I forgot was I was doing. My driver, Clifford, was great. He described his vehicle..said he was minutes away. I said where we stood, he rolled up & we hopped in. Plenty of room for 2 of us and bags. UPDATE from my July review....Uber is back in Broward County!! July review... Uber made ALL the difference in our vacation! Last year, we visited Fort Lauderdale beach and paid an exorbitant amount for substandard transportation (no AC, longer routes, poor communication with drivers, forcibly requesting more tip money, etc.) with the cab service. We were even stranded at a Publix for almost two hours by the cab company who both, refused to come back and get us and told us they were already there and didn't see us! So this year, we (reluctantly) tried Uber....and we were shocked at the difference! This was our first time using Uber, and we were impressed that every vehicle is tracked by GPS and is made available for your view in the app. Most pick up times were around five minutes, but we never waited more than a couple minutes for our drivers who picked us up right at the entrance/exit. All of our drivers (David, Diego, Carlos, Lawrence, Michael, Grecian, Jose, Alfredo, Robson, and Keith) were 4.8-4.9 star ratings, on time, polite, accommodating, and had cars that were kept clean and detailed. It seemed like all of the vehicles that we rode in were either new or purchased in the last couple of years. If you count all of the names listed above, that's TEN total trips with TEN different drivers and ALL of them were great! I can't say that I've ever had ten consecutively decent cab rides. Another source of anxiety with the cab service was the fare. I would try to google map the distance and estimate a fare, and even ask the driver for an estimate..At the end of the ride, the fare was always higher than the estimate. With the Uber app, it automatically gives you are fare range estimate based on your pick up and drop off locations. Each time, it was an accurate estimate of my actual fare. Uber drivers stand out from other services because they WANT to work...The drivers make their own hours, so they're not forced to work a crappy schedule when they'd rather be doing something else. The Uber drivers were happy to take us to where we needed to be, and to chat along the way. We never felt anxious about our ride/route and felt that we would safely arrive at our destination, and gained the confidence in this service that never failed to pick us up. When my husband and I added the total cost of our Uber trips, and we actually had to double check it because it was far less than what we spent on cab service last year. Unfortunately, Broward County is shutting down Uber service on 7-31-15. Not only will the county lose this safe and reliable service, it will put hundreds out of a job or force drivers to travel to other counties to find work. Please help save this service and sign the petition (action.uber.org). The cab service could easily improve its methods, but chooses not to do so. Without any competition from Uber, the cab service will continue to provide substandard service without penalty. Let the customers have a choice! Should Uber be permanently discontinued, we will definitely look into vacationing at other beaches that provide Uber and peace of mind for us. read more

So, we're a little late to the Uber party, and with all of the Uber controversies that have plagued the company, I was a little hesitant to finally start using the service.... But, with tickets for the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival, I figured that if we were going to indulge in both the food AND wine, that it would be better to avoid driving. (As it turns out, we ate more than enough to render all the wine and beer that was consumed pretty much ineffective, but it was still nice to not drive & avoid worrying about how much we should drink.) Getting picked up from our condo took about 5 minutes & our driver had a nice, very new looking Honda with candy bars and mints for passengers. I've found that taxi drivers in South Florida tend to compete for the honor of being the WORST possible drivers with an almost comical disregard for traffic laws, so it was a pretty awesome surprise to have a driver who was essentially the textbook definition of a good driver. Seriously, they could use him for a DMV instructional video. Lane changes smoother than polished granite, acceleration as gentle as a tropical breeze.... He even managed to avoid splattering a group of intoxicated beachgoers who decided to leap into oncoming traffic along A1A right in front of his car. Not even a middle finger went out the window in the classic Florida salute...he was cool as a cucumber. Our ride back home was equally good, and our driver Edgar had little water bottles in the back for thirsty riders. It took one minute tops for him to arrive, and our 29 minute, 7.8 mile ride on a Friday night came to a cost of just $12.23. We tipped both drivers, and both seemed a little surprised to get tips, so I'm guessing that most South Florida Uber users don't tip too often. read more

I've used Uber numerous times for business trips, primarily getting from my home to the airport and the return. My town does not have a taxi service and reservations for black car services are hit or miss, depending on the time of day. To put this into perspective, on a recent trip from Bergen County to LaGuardia was $68, while a previous trip with a black car was $160.From Newark to home with the airport yellow taxi service was $150, while Uber was about $45. Friendly, courteous drivers and clean cars. The last car had dual charging ports on the back of the passenger headrest, making it easy to recharge my phone. Haven't had an issue. Uber's safety policy regarding COVID is pathetic. They say they require drivers to wear a mask, but in reality, a majority of the drivers arrive with no mask, and have to be asked to put on a mask. Often the driver will not, and as a rider, you have a choice... ride in an unsafe vehicle with an unmasked driver, or cancel and pay Uber a fee for cancelling. I understand whole-heartedly why this company offers you your first ride up to $25 free - because once you try it, you immediately commit to never again taking a taxi and to never again having to argue about who's going to be the designated driver. I was a bit skeptical and nervous, but was blown away with how easy this process was. I downloaded the app and entered my information. Within a couple of minutes of requesting a ride, a super clean, new-looking Honda arrived (way cleaner and nicer than my car). With peppermints and snack-sized Twix bars in the cup-holders, for passengers (score). He was a safe, laid-back driver (way safer and more laid back than me). The whole ride from Pompano Beach to downtown Fort Lauderdale was a whopping $13 - I had one other person in the car, so that cut the price in half. Payment was done automatically through the phone ahead of time, so no awkward or delayed exchanges afterward. I did give him a couple dollars for a tip - Uber insists you don't have to, and he seemed genuinely surprised to receive it, so I don't think it's actually expected. Which is nice as well. Took an Uber from the FLL airport to the Atlantic Hotel on Friday January 29 abound midday. It is important to know that due to tensions between Uber and the govt/airport officials, you must wait in the area outside baggage claim that is reserved for "commercial passenger vehicles." I've always been an advocate for safe driving. As people who make mistakes you never know what situation you may end up in. Whether it's out having one to many or stranded somewhere without your car, uber is there-well most recently, since Broward had to fight to get it back. I can't say in all my uber rides I've had a bad driver experience. They are usually very polite, arrive quickly to the house and have decent cars. However my most recent uber trip was very disappointing. I originally called for an uber to get to the bar bc I planned to have many cocktails. From my home to Wilton drive cost me $6.50 bucks. I decided to stay out for about 3-4 hrs. When I knew it was time to head home I opened the app, the normal options popped up to select your price, then I pressed continue and a warning alerted that it was surge pricing and I would be paying 2.8 times the miles. I was in shock... Why wouldn't the app alert you ahead of the night that you had only so much time before you were charged so much. This was quite unfortunate, I would of just stayed out longer if I knew it would cost me nearly $20 bucks to get home. Listen I can't say I didn't get home safe, but I don't like price surprises. This app needs to be up front with pricing. Also I've noticed that the drivers seem to always take longer routes to get to the destination. I find myself giving the drivers directions that are the quickest. I shouldn't have to do that uber, you should already know how to take the shortcuts. read more

I take Uber regularly from airports. My last experience was awful. My driver had no idea how to even get out of the airport. Went around the airport twice and then in the opposite direction of my destination. To make matters worse he didn't speak any English, he spoke French creole. Which I don't speak at all. His GPS was in French and he didn't understand how to navigate it all. I put on Waze and had to give him turn by turn instructions. Which was ridiculous since we didn't understand each other. It took an extra 30 minutes to get to my destination and I was late for a meeting. I felt unsafe leaning over the drivers console to direct him. I requested a refund from Uber because of my experience and my late arrival and they said no and were not apologetic.They saved 35.00 and lost a customer for life. I believe everyone should have a chance to make a living but an Uber driver should be able to communicate with their passengers and be able to navigate from an International airport, read more
