My local location did not have the part that I needed, so I called and scheduled an appointment with the North Hills location. I live about 25 minutes away and was given an appointment for about 40 minutes after I called. Perfect. I drove out to the store (again, 25 minutes), arrived, and they said something to the effect of, "Our Samsung system is down so we can't do anything. We can get you in on Tuesday" - this was on a Wednesday. No real accountability. No real apology. Just a "too bad for you" essentially. Stuff happens. Systems go down. But 1) Why did was their call center not aware of the issue? The appointment shouldn't have been scheduled. 2) Why was it going to take 6 days before they could squeeze me in when most of their work is same-day? 3). Why didn't the location call to cancel before I drove almost an hour round trip? If you live near by and are on a flexible timeframe it might be worth using them, but the lack of customer service and clarity is concerning. read more

EXTRAORDINARY! SHAWNELL IS THE BEST! * AN ASSET TO UBIF! * After 3+ days of Verizon Wireless (VW) screwing up my S22 AND my usage plan, I made an appointment with this location for 4:30pm. Candidly, I was late in arriving -- due solely to THE most significant issue that I knew of hampering my phone AND MY LIFE! As we all know, when cell phones and computers work properly they're phenomenal. However, when they don't work optimally they're a nightmare! THE most significant issue? Without notice, my Android Auto (AA) and Pandora would shut down repeatedly while driving, often long distances. Both would then begin to work again, only to stop working again -- and again and again! As a sports official, I am often on the road traveling to areas of western PA that I am not familiar with. I CANNOT be late. My "temporary" solutions were to stop on the side of the road, where I would disconnect my phone from AA and either hook up my Garmin GPS or use MapQuest on my phone. Four days ago, my "issues" were greatly compounded when I discovered that just eight days into my billing period a TM from VW told me that I had used all of my data for that period. WHAT? In 25+ years of being with VW, I had *never* used all of my data for the month! After hours of phone calls, a VW rep added an extra 2GB to my account for $15. Less than 24 hours later even this data had been used! IMPOSSIBLE!!! The result of such? My internet access slowed down dramatically. After numerous visits and phone calls to Mitsubishi, VW, and Samsung, I was "cleared" to receive a no-cost visit to UBIF! On my way there, wouldn't ya know, my AA stopped working. SURPRISE! Therefore, I was late. Angry and anxious, I arrived at UBIF just prior to their closing for the day. Even so, Shawnell -- my HERO in this tale, even though she might be a bit late to pick up her children -- listened intently to my woes, deciding that THE issue was I had a data plan of only 2GB. "You've got to have an unlimited data plan with all the driving you do," she said. Yes, this story has a belated happy ending! The inevitable solution was EXACTLY as Shawnell exclaimed! An unlimited data plan was added to my VW account. I'm exhausted, but due to Shawnell's extraordinary patience, knowledge and professionalism I am calm and fully loaded with data! THANKS SHAWNELL! Should be called "ubreakibreakMORE" Call up, I was very specific with my model number..Said they have replacement screen, I say are you certain? they say YES..go there no screen..3 days later they have screen so go there "2nd time" and drop off " a perfectly functioning phone" with cracked screen. Then go there "3rd time" and pick up phone with new screen, then have to return phone because phone constantly reboots without function, drop off phone "4th time" pick up phone which is totally broke and will not function again. "5 times back and forth" They gave me a replacement used iPhone in exchange, but didn't know the thumbprint is inoperative because it is a repair and home button and mother board are assigned to each other at factory. Took original initial iPhone to "Apple" tech to find out they ruined the mother board through faulty repair procedure.."It had missing screws, missing shields and damaged connectors and resistors..Bottom line is they DO NOT KNOW what they are doing and I could have repaired this probably doing it my self..I'm out my favorite iphone and have another with a non working thumbprint...I am through with this place never to return and will just take the hit and move on... read more

Extremely disappointed in service or lack thereof. Instructed by Samsung to use UbreakIfix (authorized service center) to expedite my battery replacement vs Mailing my phone directly to them(21 day process). I explained this to the young man, he flat out told me," Samsung lies a lot and my phone battery is too old to replace." He never even looked at my phone or checked availability online. Gave me the impression that my phone was not worth his time. That's OK because I didn't have time for poor customer service. Fast forward to March, called UbreakIfix 1 800#. They suggested I go to another UbreakIfix store. This store was able to have the battery shipped to them in 2 days and then replaced my battery that day. GO FIGURE! These two stores are like night and day. Now that I know UbreakIfix are independently owned. I will either go back to the professional UbreakIfix or Best buy where they also offered to order my phone battery. There are better options than this store. Just call around. It wont be to hard to figure out. read more

4 stars only because the assistant manager doesn't know how to speak to customers and doesn't know to call his GM about issues. Shawnelle (I believe) is the GM and she is wonderful. She is getting me a refund on my insurance while she looks for the part for my laptop (wasn't in stock and I couldn't wait.) I've sent people to this store since I worked at Verizon Wireless, and they repaired my iPod until they stopped making the parts for it. Never had any issues with their repairs, and all my customers have left happy. 5 stars for the GM and the staff that do the repairs. Minus one star for lack of communication from her AM. read more

uBreakiFix looked into two separate issues for me. First, they determined the issue with a laptop that would not turn on and then helped me to house the hard drive in a external case making sure the unusual external hard drive housing was appropriate. Second, after some water damage, Josh was able to clean up the inside of another laptop so it worked. Both times the service was reasonable, within a week, professional, and friendly. I observed the counter staff person going above and beyond in dealing with unreasonable expectations one time - calling all the other locations to see if a part was in-stock after the people went to the location they did not call and looking up the address of the location that had the stock and even volunteering directions to the other location from this store. All of this was done in a friendly and helpful way. read more

my son's Nintendo switch stopped charging. we brought it in not knowing if they would be able to help. Their staff is very personable and kind. We left his switch in good hands. We received notice that his repair was completed, in the few days it took for us to get there Shawnell stated she attempted to charge it for him so that it would be ready to go when it was picked up, and it still wasn't charging. They shipped it back out for repair express, with no added charges and two days later we have a switch that is working as good as new. I am very happy with their service. read more

This is a small location and all customers have to wear masks - no problem I can do that. yet NONE of the employees wear them. when questioning the staff over the phone - Manager Shawnee grabbed the phone off her employee and became irate and stated she had a medical issue so I assume that allows her to not follow the rules and be abusive to customers.She actually stated she didn't have to listen to this and Hung up on me. This is in ANY business considered a code of conduct violation which means she could be dismissed. Her lack of compassion , leadership skills and just plain rudeness clearly shows she should not be in any customer facing role. I feel for her employees. DO NOT go to this location. STAY AWAY! We brought in a working iPhone 7 with a cracked screen and left the store with a new screen and a completely inoperable phone!?!? Ten minutes before arriving at uBreakiFix, we had diagnostics run on it at Best Buy and it came out in total working condition. So, we know they broke it. And the only thing they were willing to do was take off the new screen, replace it with the old screen and refund us for the screen they put on. ABSOLUTELY NO REIMBURSEMENT FOR BREAKING THE INERTS OF THE PHONE!?! We will NEVER do business with them again! We shall see now if corporate will offer any compensation. Ugh! read more

My nightmare at uBreakiFix began when I bought a new gaming laptop so that I could have some entertainment while I was on the road for my job. Long story short, I tried to set up a dual boot with Linux on it and while I was doing that I screwed up the hard drive partition table. After attempting to do a factory reset on it (a process which Acer makes next to impossible, but that's an entirely separate 1 star review) and after failing to do a fresh Windows re-install from a USB thumb drive that I had used successfully many times on many desktop PCs over the years, I decided to seek the help of a "professional". Searching my area I found the uBreakiFix shop, which I had a positive experience at before (at a different location) when I had to get my iPhone fixed. So I get to the place and I take it in, and I tell the "tech" (and I use that term very loosely since he appeared to have zero technical knowledge, or at the very least, less knowledge than I had) that it needs a reset to factory default. He tells me that he can take care of that just fine, then tells me that it will be over 3 WEEKS!!! to get it done. I told him that was an unacceptable amount of time to wait for a very basic software reset, and that if it was going to take that long to complete that I would find another shop. He then tells me that if I sign up for this thing called "Asurion home plus" (its pretty much one of those protection insurance scams where you're billed monthly for repairs that you don't even need) that not only could he repair it for free under the plan, but that I would also have higher priority in the line and that I would be able to have the laptop repaired by the end of the week. I knew it was a scam from the outset, but I reluctantly signed up for it since I didn't want to wait 3 weeks to get my laptop back. So he signs me up for it, and I wait till the end of the next week and go back to pick it up. When I went back on Friday to pick up the laptop, the woman who was working the counter that day (seemed to be handling customer service/management, pretty sure she wasn't involved in the tech stuff at all) told me that laptop repairs were MINIMUM 3 weeks, so it most definitely wasn't done yet. I told her that i was an Asurion home plus member, and that when I signed up for that the "tech" told me that it would be only 1 week, since it was a software repair and they didn't need to order any parts for it, which didn't seem to make much of a difference at all. While I was standing at the counter I heard a voice (presumably the first "tech" but I couldn't see him since he was standing in the back) say to me "I'm working on it right now, I'll call you when I get it taken care of", which I assumed since he was working on it at that very moment, would be another day, maybe 2 days of work. Another week goes by with no call, so I stop back into the shop to find out what is taking them so long with my laptop. The same woman from the second time was there, she told me that the "tech" had ran into some kind of problem with it, but that he wasn't in the shop at that particular moment so she tells me that he'll call me when he gets back in ("about 15 minutes", she said). About 45 minutes later I received a call from the "tech" who told me that there was a problem with the drivers (duh!) and that he couldn't load Windows on to the drive. Then he tried to pull the whole "Hey, you were going to put Linux on this thing anyways right? Why don't you just forget about Windows and just do that?" After I tried to explain to him that this was a GAMING machine and therefore needed to have Windows on it, this guy actually says to me "Oh well we can't load the drivers on to the hard drive that's currently in your laptop, but we could put a new drive in to it and then load the drivers on to that and somehow that will make it work". I told him that aside from being idiotic (he never quite did explain how he could load drivers on to a new drive that i would have to buy, but not on to the BRAND NEW one that was already in my laptop) it was unacceptable to replace a brand new part and that if he couldn't handle it that I was taking it someplace else. I went to pick it up today, over 3 weeks later, and not only was it NOT fixed, it was actually WORSE than it was before! Before it was booting up with a Windows error code, now its not booting up at all and its reporting "no bootable drive". So I tried to go in to the BIOS to see what's up with my drive and it turns out this "tech" put a password onto it! Why!?!? No matter now, the laptop is currently in the hands of a real professional at a laptop shop down the street who is going to get it going for me. I'll have a review for the second shop once the work is completed but until then, avoid uBreakiFix like the plague. They have very little (if any) technical experience and seem to only be in the business of selling protection insurance scams. Would give them 0 stars if i could. read more

My daughters phone had gotten ran over by her friends mom by accident, I had went there because it was closer to my house than anything else, when we went there at around 7pm, they said to come back in the next day and they would be able to fix it, but we had to call our insurance number. We called and spent an hour on the phone. They had said to come in the next day because they only took anything before 4. We came in the next day and they couldn't find our number from when we called. We called again and they said they couldn't find the part for my daughters phone when the lady had the part in her hand about to fix the phone. They sent us to a different location and when we went there they said they couldn't fix it because "find my iPhone was on" my daughter has had her phone fixed before while having find my iPhone on. They said we had to go to apple to turn it off. They were avoiding everything to not fix my daughters phone. I don't recommend going here. They also said it would cost $30 because we had insurance for it. After that we called again a few hours later and they said it would cost $350 to get a new screen!!! read more

AVOID! We made an appointment online to get my sons screen fixed on his phone. We booked the appointment on Saturday for that coming Tuesday. The appointment time was 6pm and estimated cost was $49. Fast forward to Tuesday and my husband arrives to the location. He was instantly told that they don't accept appointments after 5:30. When asked why the website allowed us to make an appointment at 6 then, the associate said "that's an error on the website". The associated then said they don't know if they have the part we needed in but he would check anyway. Now when we made the appointment, the website asks what type of phone so we figured it meant that they would have the part in stock. They did have the part though. Now the nail in the coffin, when told we would have to come back another day since it was 6pm, the cost would be $179+. What?! The website said estimate cost $49. We could understand a small discrepancy due to factoring in labor and all but an additional $139+?! That's false advertising. What irritated me was the fact that the store had my husbands information for a few days prior and could have called to let him know about the appointment time and an updated cost. We will never get our products serviced here and felt the online world should know the horrible business they are running. read more

I walked into this business today with my desktop Mac. First, as soon as we walked in, an employee screamed a few choice words because he had to wait on another customer. How dare we walk into a place of business needing a service they provide!!! ‍‍‍ Secondly, I received an estimate the last time I was in there getting my phone fixed on our computer. So, we explain the situation again and he refused to even look at the computer, giving us a completely different explanation of what was wrong with our computer. (I was at a couple places getting prices for our issue. That is how I knew what was wrong with it) so, I kindly asked again if he would just look at it to make sure he was unable to work on it.....he gave me the run around again and told me, "go buy another computer". I guess you have to catch some of their employees in a good mood to have them do their job. I mean, I understand it might be difficult to fix a computer, but that is your job and on top of it, they advertise this. My opinion, call first and see what type of mood the person that's working that day is in before wasting a trip. FYI. I took the computer to one of the stores I got an estimate from and they are fixing it as we speak. It costs a few more dollars, but at least they were willing to fix it. read more
