If you need a place to repair devices, consider this place adequate. The clerks were super friendly and got through occasional lines of customers. It's a small place, where the front does minimal sales of accessories and pushes hard on Asurion's monthly coverage plan - but respectfully. The staff keep it clean, it has seating. You won't feel uncomfortable standing or sitting. The service was fairly quick for the repair I needed. And they got my old iPad looking brand spankin' new. The parking lot is small because it shares the small lot with other suites in the strip mall. If I needed another repair, I would highly consider a return to this location. read more

I brought my phone in for a charge port repair. When I picked it up, it had no service and didn't recognize the SIM card. Instead of trying to fix it, the tech told me to go to my carrier to have it fixed! I did and the carrier confirmed that UBreakIFix had damaged the antenna. I went back to the shop and was told that the tech who had worked on my phone had left and I would have to come back the next day! Overnight, the screen began to show bruising that ended up covering the screen entirely! (See attached picture) When I took the phone in the next day to repair the damage the tech had caused, I was told they would have to order the parts they had damaged! When I expressed my frustration at the situation, the tech became very angry and emotional and threatened to not fix my phone if I kept 'disrespecting him'! So unprofessional! I ended up keeping my phone and filing an insurance claim with my carrier to get a new one. I will never return to UBreakIFix. The techs are rude and incompetent. read more

They told me to take it to a 3rd party to see if it could be fixed. I called this store first and since it's near me decided to take my phone here. I dropped it off and was told it would take about 2 hours and they would call me when they were done. I got a call about 1 1/2 hrs later, went back to pick up my phone and they got the SD card out but the phone wasn't reading the SIM card. The gentleman told me no charge! Really? No charge? That was incredibly sweet. They are super helpful & friendly and also have a good deal for all the electronics in your home. Beware. I can not prove it, but "coincidently" my phone screen was repaired, and on the same day I got it back, it only worked on wifi(barely). I have been unable to make or receive calls, texts, etc. I was told to visit an att store for new sim card. Longer story short, after two physical and one esim it was found that this phone needs replacement. Asurion points us to att, and att points us to asuion. Be careful which location you take your phones to for insurance coverage. You will be left on your own, like me , to figure this out. Why even have insurance if they will not cover possible damage from the provider. read more

I really regret taking my beloved iMac here. All I wanted was a memory upgrade. Normally I'd do this myself, but because removing the screen of an iMac is a delicate process, I decided to let the pros handle it. Before bringing them my computer, I gave them a call to get a quote and a time estimate. I was told $80 and 72 hours. Sounded great! I took it over on May 20 and was told I'd hear back in 72 hours when it was ready. By May 23...no call, text, nothing. Ok, a little annoying, but the next day I gave them a call to see what was up. Apparently their dedicated Mac technician had a family emergency the day I went in, and would not be back in until the following day. So during the past 4 days that I thought my computer was being worked out, it was actually just sitting there, and no one thought a courtesy call was warranted. I understand that emergencies happen, but given how much people depend on their computers these days, I can't get over how incredibly unprofessional this was. They should have at least let me know so I could either take my computer back home until they could handle it, or let me take it elsewhere. Given that the technician would be there the next day, I decided to just get over the annoyance and keep waiting. 72 hours AFTER the 96 hours I'd already waited, I get a call from him. He informs me that the display was broken while installing the new memory cards. Sigh. Again, I get that mistakes happen, but this is on top the first annoyance of having it sit there untouched for 4 days. They ordered the replacement part, but it would not arrive for another week. More waiting. While I appreciate that they took responsibility for the mistake and did not charge me for the replacement, this is starting to all feel a little ridiculous for a memory upgrade. FINALLY on June 5 they let me know it's ready. At last. They reiterate the issue with the display and let me know that I have 90 days to come back to them if there are any display issues, but this does not include any physical breakage. Cool, works for me. They still charge me the full $80 despite all the issues, which did leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, but I just wanted my computer back, so whatever. I take it home and everything is fine and clearly way faster than it was before...until I use it for any real length of time. Browsing the internet - crash. Working on a spreadsheet - crash. After several crashes I finally called and asked them if this could have been caused by the display. Without so much looking at it, the guy over the phone told me it was not a display issue, so they would not be responsible. Huh. Funny, since the error reports say that it has to do with an issue related to an external monitor. Funny that this has NEVER BEFORE been an issue in the 1.5 years I've had this computer. Now what was once a perfectly functional (albeit slow) computer constantly crashes and freezes. On top of that, it was a 2.5 week process because the staff is apparently incapable of basic professional communication. Maybe this place is fine enough for basic stuff but I would NOT recommend for anything complicated or anything delicate. read more

When I got there the girl didn't even see my screen she just quoted that it would cost $180 and she said the colors on the screen would permanently be distorted "but it wasn't that big of a deal" like yea right why would I pay half the price of the phone for the screen to still be broke. Great service. I took my iPhone X screen to be fixed. It took 2 hours, and my phone looked brand new. I also purchased a new screen protector that came out to $20+tax. The employee installed it for me right there, and did it perfectly. Only one customer is allowed in the store at a time due to COVID-19; however, parking is right in front of the store so you can sit in your car and see what the line is like (if there even is one), and wait in your car. Dealing with Ubreakifix has been quite a frustrating experience. I originally shipped my Google Pixel 3XL to their Stone Oak location. For about three weeks, they did not acknowledge the receipt of the device. Upon contacting the Customer service email address, they kept promising that someone would get back to me. No luck. Sent another email and after two days, Ray got back to me informing me that the phone would be fixed within 24 hours and shipped to me. He did call me the next day to inform me that his technician had tried two different charging ports and that it appeared that the main circuit board was the problem and that since they did not have the part, he was going to take the phone to their Alamo Heights location. Ok. So, then, I get a call from him again saying that the technician at the Alamo Heights location had tested the device and it was in fact a bad charging port and that they had replaced it and that the phone worked fine now! However, instead of $79.xx, the repair was $120.xx. Anxious to get my phone back as I was using a backup phone, I agreed to the repair, and then, they charged my credit card twice! Upon receipt of the phone back, I found out that it did not charge. I tried 3 different chargers with 3 different cables and no luck. I wrote back again to Ray asking for a refund and got a boilerplate response that their repairs were covered by a 90-day warranty and that I should bring the phone back into the store that fixed the phone! I asked for the email address to the Alamo Heights location and never heard back from Ray. So, I wrote again and again to the Customer service email address and they assigned my case to someone that would help me resolve the issue, Jessica M. She responded back with a curt response and I asked if she was even aware of the entire history of my repairs. She wrote back again saying firmly that she would not issue any refund and that I could take the phone back to the store that repaired it. In the meantime, I had responded to a follow-up satisfaction survey and given a poor rating and got a call from the Alamo Heights store manager who wanted me to change my review as he said that he was doing me and the other store a favor by taking on the repair!! I explained to him that to me, it didn't matter which location did what. As far as I was concerned, it was Ubreakifix that had performed poorly. So, Buyer Beware, folks! read more

This review is for the Broadway store (across from Central Market) and particularly for the store manager, Sergio. I wanted to get the battery replaced in my BlackBerry Key2. Not too many of those around. All did not go well at the beginning of the process, but Sergio hung in there and kept working on it over a period of almost two weeks. (In the meantime, I got an LG/Tracfone at Best Buy for $10 to see me through.) After ordering parts a couple of times, Sergio got it working and offered some other very helpful counsel about using the phone. DO NOT GO HERE! Total rip-off. They replaced my screen, I paid for the more expensive because when I did the cheap one in the past my phone was malfunctioning. Immediately after my phone started going haywire. The screen shattered within a week. They refused to fix it because "I broke it myself". I had my iPhone for years without the screen breaking and this one broke from a drop less than 2 feet off the ground. This place will end up costing you more money in the long run. Great customer service, I was quickly helped out in the store within a minute of entering. I explained the issue with my iPhone XS and a continuous boot loop, he quickly took it to the back and took it apart returning a few minutes later. He told me water damage had caused the issue to the Face ID portion of my phone which I knew to have been the problem upon doing research prior to arriving. I was happy to get an honest answer to my problem. He explained two options to me, replace the screen due to the Face ID being a part of the screen or he could disconnect the Face ID module for free. I was excited to go with this option which allowed me to back of my photos. I will take my business back when I need to replace my screen, thank you guys so much! read more

Yesterday, my iPad charged, as always. Then suddenly last evening, it wouldn't accept a charger. Now, in my house, this is on a par with a major fire or other catastrophe. I went to the Alamo Heights location within minutes of their opening. It seems that a part of the tip on a charging cord had broken off, thus precluding any other chargers from entering. They removed the minuscule broken-off bit within minutes --AT NO CHARGE!!!! Seems they charge if they have to replace parts! Who knew? THAT is what I call excellent customer service. I have had such great luck with this place. Yes, they fixed cracked screens with quick turnaround, but TWICE they have saved me from having to buy a new phone. The first time both AT&T and APPLE Store had told me that my 5C was "too damaged to be repaired". I stopped by the store and a young lady pulled a broken piece of something out of the charging slot and it's been working ever since! It's my back-up phone but it still works. Today I took my daughter's Samsung in, not knowing what she might have done to it to make it "go all black". The young guy took it all apart and put it back together. It's working. Both of these fixes were done for free. Both times I fully expected that I was going to have to buy a new phone. This is the first place I go for phone issues. I had to fix the screen on my Iphone 7 and I choose ubreakifix because the reviews and also I found information on their website that they're using high quality parts. I'm really dissapointed. I got my phone with the new screen, although it was done fast, the colors are way different then I has before. I went back to ubreakifix to ask why the colors are different, if they change any settings. Come to find out, they do NOT use Apple parts. If they would be up front that something like that will happen, at least I would have a chance to pick between this company and Apple. I never had to fix my screen so I didn't know that it's possible to get a screen which is not close to original. They said that they can put back my broken screen or I can keep this, and they can give me a glass protection screen. I got caught in a rain shower and had my iPhone stored in an exterior pocket, with the power port up. Naturally the port got a few drops of rain in it. The phone functions were working fine, but I couldn't recharge it and the battery was already at 20%. After several attempts to dry it out, I brought it to the Broadway location in Alamo Heights (San Antonio) Employee Zoe P. greeted me warmly and listened as I told my tale of woe. She explained their process of running a diagnostic to identify all the issues and then telling you how much it will cost to fix, if you want to pursue that route. When Zoe looked at my phone, she asked me if I had put it in rice, which I had. She said there was a grain of rice in the charging port. I was going out the door with the work order in hand when I asked her if she could take the grain of rice out and try to charge my phone. She readily agreed, took the phone in the back and removed the rice, brought it back to the front counter and plugged it in--and it started charging! Alleluia! Zoe told me that if there were any other problems to bring it back, but two weeks later it's working great. Zoe didn't charge me for removing the rice and she was very gracious. As a bonus, the three large information posters about caring for the battery and the display were very informative and I discovered some of the ways we attempted to dry out the port actually depleted the battery even further.
