Having dined at several other Uchi locations, I was super excited to try Uchiba and it did not disappoint ! The operation runs flawlessly just like any other Uchi restaurant. The servers are attentive, personable, and kind. The food is world-class deliciousness ! They had several of my favorite Uchi dishes and the menu was similar. The ambiance is pleasant without being too formal. The bar was lively and the restaurant overall was booked up. Reservations needed. Dined here twice during our Austin visit, it was THAT good !!

Really good sushi and service a few blocks from my daughter's place in downtown Austin. I was solo for the night and walked in and there was a place at the (sushi) bar. I had some nice plates starting with a bluefin akami crude, some hamachi, some makeral sashimi and some anchovy , yes, anchovy - see pictures - sushi below. All wonderful. I guess the surprise was service. Normally at the bar, you order, it comes, and that's about it. Here, for each plate, the sushi chef took the time to hand it to me, then give a minute or two explanation of what it was, the spices etc. drinks great. Good cocktails and a nice Chablis that fit the sushi. Ambience at the bar, fine. The main restaurant was pretty packed and i don't think that on a Friday night i would have gotten. Table on walk in. Cost, expensive. I think my bill, for a few plates and a couple glasses of wine and an upfront cocktail was like $200. Not somethign for every night, but worth the quality.

On my recent trip to Austin my friend was appalled I had never been to Uchi. So when we saw this spot was walking distance from the coffee shop we had worked at that morning, she "twisted my arm" to go. Wow. What a vibe. It was a dreary Friday afternoon but you could not tll that from the folks sitting at the bar enjoying their lives in Uchiko. From the moment we sat at the bar, our bartender was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us a copy of the lunch menu and then I realized why this spot was the spot to have a long Friday lunch. There are awesome lunch specials and a lunchtime happy hour. There is nothing quite like being on vacation, ordering amazing sushi, and pairing it with a delicious wine that costs $5 with one of your girlfriends - like truly, that is the good life. Our bartender hooked us up with a surprise order of 4 different nigiri - all were awesome. He even sent us a savory mushroom skewer and a complimentary dessert. We had originally wanted their Kinoko nigiri but it's only on the dinner menu which is why he sent us something similar from the lunch menu. I got to try the white wine on the lunch menu as well as the lychee martini (just $7). Since it was raining, we got "stuck" in Uchiko for quite the long lunch, but it was absolutely fabulous. The food quality is incredible. I will dream about the Hamachi Chili forever and must get myself to the Miami location ASAP!

Uchiba happy hour is the way to go! We just ordered a bunch of stuff to split and it was great. My favorites were the edamame dumplings, salmon nigiri, and pork bao. Also the restaurant is so gorgeous like the vibes are 10/10 and the servers were all kind and attentive! I gotta be honest for the price/hype I was expecting everything to be incredible and I'd say everything was good but only a few dishes absolutely wow'd me. It's definitely worth a try if, like me, you haven't been to any of the uchi's. Kinda intrigued to try the other 2 restaurants to see how they compare...

We got a last minute reservation at Uchiba for 9:30pm, they let us come in early at 9 and gave us nice booth seating. The drinks and food are amazing as always - I highly recommend the vice for a sweeter vibe! We also got espresso martinis which were phenomenal. As for the food, the sashimi was fresh and delicious. the a5 with caviar was a well worth splurge. I also loved the scallops for the appetizer! We were still a bit hungry after so we had to get the karaage. It wasn't anything special, the other food items we got were definitely worth it though! The fried milk dessert is always a must!

What an experience. Again, led by my coworker and her advice on restaurants all week, she suggested we go to Uchiba for sushi. After all of the BBQ we had, I wanted to try out other types of food Austin had to offer. However, this wasn't your ordinary sushi restaurant and turned out to be one of my favorite spots in Austin. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the hostess who told us it would be about a 10 min wait and this was during off hours on a weekday I believe. So I can only imagine that this place gets packed pretty fast during peak hours. The place was like something out of a magazine, and we opted to sit at the bar to avoid longer wait times. Once seated, we were greeted by the bar waiter and I honestly didn't know what to order so I let him decide my order for me. His exact words were, "we'll go with something cold and then something hot and I promise I won't break your pockets" and that's all I needed to hear. This wasn't your typical sushi restaurant so you couldn't order custom rolls. They only offered what was on the menu. The waiter proceeded to order the Hama Chili and the pork dumplings which were both amazing! He then gave my coworker and I a piece of sushi on the house and I wish I could remember what it was. After that we were still a little hungry, so we decided to split a Bluefin Otoro Makimono which was excellent! My coworker went with the Ba Burger, which I tried and was pretty good as well. I loved it here and the vibe was dope! Modern, clean and the music fit the experience. I will be back and suggest others check it out. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Uchi is my favorite restaurant in Austin, and I've been eager to try its sister restaurant Uchibā. Finally visited last weekend for girls night out and it was so worth the hype! First off, the interior. Decor is beautiful and the restaurant has a dark, moody vibe. There is a little lounge area with sofa seating by the bar, standard seating, and outdoor patio seating. We opted for a standard table. Kicked off the experience with lychee martinis (absolutely fantastic cocktail!) and some starters to share. Standout items included the chicken dumplings and chicken karaage - both were phenomenal. I ordered a zero sen maki roll (featuring hamachi with a citrusy kick) for my main, and it was delicious. Ended our meal with "fried milk" dessert, which was so much more epic than it sounds. The name does not do it justice. A must try, so creative and unique! A must visit restaurant and an absolute delight!

I had a great lunch at Uchiba. From the moment we arrived, the hostess was friendly and welcoming, and the waiting area was fantastic. Having such a spacious waiting area is honestly such an underrated feature for a restaurant. Our waitress was amazing and took great care of us. She started us off with the yuca chips, which were really good but definitely packed some heat! They were flavorful, but I could only eat a few before my mouth got a little too hot. I ordered the lunch special with the Hama Chili and the Tiger Cry Bao. Both dishes were delicious. The pork belly in the bao is absolutely the thing to order here, perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. Dessert came with a sorbet that was the perfect refreshing finish to the meal. I also had a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc for just $5, which was surprisingly good wine for the price. I did take the spicy tuna roll and karaage to go for my husband. Those were fine, but not quite as impressive as the meal I had. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience and I would definitely come back.

Food was great but service ended up ruining the experience for my party. We came from Houston for a bachelorette party because our bride loves their potbelly; she didn't even get to try it because our server (Astra) dropped the ball & didn't put in the orders before the kitchen closed. Thank you to John (manager) for helping to rectify the situation. Food - most of us took advantage of the lunch special. I tried the Hama chili and karaage plus the pork dumplings. The food was actually pretty tasty. I paired everything with an espresso martini for an afternoon pick me up and it was well crafted. I know they have sister companies in my city so I may visit.

I visited Uchiba for the first time over a holiday weekend in January, and soon after even visited sister restaurant Uchiko. I enjoyed all the dishes I got to try at Uchiba, and how they are incredibly vegetarian-friendly! My bf and I had dinner here during MLK weekend, and since it was an early dinner, it overlapped with happy hour pricing. My bf had a Resy credit through an American Express membership, and we were able to use that towards our bill. We started off with brussels sprouts, and then tried several different small, tapa-style dishes. I was able to try the Nasu bao (fried eggplant), the spicy crispy veggie roll, and uchiba fried milk dessert without the marshmallow/gelatin addition. My bf was able to sample the ba burger, pork dumplings, and wagyu tartar plus marsala. All-in-all, everything was at delicious and served with utmost care and professionalism. With happy hour pricing and the Resy credit, it was quite affordable and well-worth what we were able to try! I'm looking forward to future visits here.

The day was perfect to visit this place so that's a plus. The service was extraordinary, the food was great, and the experience overall was fenomenal. We had the pork dumplings, the crudo, and the spicy tuna. We also tasted the together is better sake. I've been here before for dinner, but this experience during the day was my favorite. We also closed with the banana sundae dessert. So savory and sweet at the same time. The flavors are for sure well thought on every dish.

Food: sushi was amazing! Price is decent especially, during happy hour, but be prepared to spend cause it's so good! Everything was flavorful, tasty, and fresh. The toppings on top of the nigiri paired perfectly. Service: great service, we had Duvy, as our server he provided a lot of recommendations, and was very attentive. Ambiance: the place is beautiful. Although, you don't need a reservation it's best that you so you can be seated right away! We will be back on our next trip to Austin for sure!

Came here on a double date and was really excited to check out their $25 lunch special! You get to choose an appetizer, entree, and get their seasonal sorbet. These are full portions too! They have this special every day. Since I'm pregnant, it's not recommended for me to eat raw fish. I was sad I couldn't have the Hama chili (my husband did though!) but I know it's delicious!! We've had it at their parent restaurant, Uchi. So I opted for the salad. As an appetizer, I thought it was gonna be a small portion but it was massive!! It's topped with a lot of shredded cheese too. It's good but I had to take some of it to-go. For my entree, I got the chicken karaage. Solid choice! I devoured it all. The sorbet was yummy too! I don't normally like sorbets just because of how sour they are but I think the coconut part of it really stood out to me. It was refreshing and ended the meal nicely. I definitely wanna be back! This was such a great meal!

I would say 2.5 stars but I'll land on 2. The first time our server was an absolute nightmare. I honestly don't know why she was called to work at an upscale cocktail bar with such a disdain for her customers. I had a reservation with my husband and our other friend and she just seemed to generally dislike us and anyone else she interacted with. No smile, angry. I don't mind people not having a permanent smile, I can have a RBF myself, I get it. But my husband ordered a table side martini and this comes with a personal interaction with getting your custom martini at the table and I promise you there is nothing she wanted to do less with her day than make a drink at our table, and had no clue what she was doing. She was just potion mixing reminiscent of things I did in the pantry as a kid. She didn't know what to ask that he wanted and was just dumping a little of this, a little of that. He tried to make conversation because she's literally there kneeled at our table doing this, and supposed to be asking for preference on the drink, but not really saying anything. He asked "Do your friends always have you making the drinks because you know how to make good ones?" Her response was a deadpan "My friends are poor." Well. That's awkward. We didn't know what to say to that. When she was done mixing things she realized she hadn't made enough to include a sidecar which is part of this custom drink order. So what did she do? She mixed a bit of this and that again from the random pretty little bottles on her tray with no mind to what was actually being concocted and it was 100% different than what was in the glass. It was even a different color. The drinks made by the actual bar were good, but the server was so dismissive that it was just annoying to ask for anything. The second time we had a different server and he was very pleasant and as attentive as he could be, given the random massive crowd that appeared around our 6pm reservation time. The whole point of Powder Room is to relax and have an intimate, no phone experience, and this requires a reservation. For some reason they decided to let in some random 30 person wedding party or something that had no reservations and just stood basically with their butts in the face of all the seated reservations. It was such a loud volume in there that the server couldn't even hear us and brought the wrong drink. We decided it was too much and left. They did apologize stating they didn't know this was going to happen. Well, you have control over letting people in and this was a choice. I get there was money to be made off a large, random group, but it was at the expense of us as locals wanting to come back again.

I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

My sister-in-law made reservations and we walked down the busy 6th Street to get there until we stopped at an unassuming and unlabeled door. When you walk in, it's a very dark and moody interior with small tables. They led us to a private room in the back which perfectly fit the six of us. Their menu is very creative, with unique names and unique ingredients. I don't like alcohol, so I was super happy to see an entire section dedicated to zero proof mocktails. I ordered the 5 AM somewhere which was a matcha based mocktail. It still had a bitter taste to it, perhaps from the Lyres Rosso. But the entire experience was so creative, led by our server/bartender Martin. He was a lot of fun and made the experience that much better. He was personable and funny and felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. Highly recommend if you're looking for a more chill vibe on 6th Street!

We didn't get to sit near the conveyor belts, but we were ok with it because we were still able to enjoy the decor. Parking can get tight very quickly. We didn't have a reservation, but I think we were very lucky to get a table for 2.

It's a perfect place to stop after dinner to extend the evening with a couple of drinks. Service (James ) was perfect and the cocktails were tasty, elegant and just the right amount of liquor. As for the venue itself: The inside is spacious and elegant. The bar stools are extremely comfortable. In fact, I'd describe them as elevated loungers. The main area is a good size and shape for larger groups. I appreciated that the music was not too loud to chat with your date. The restrooms are very clean and nice. The outdoor area in back was the biggest surprise. They have a nice, covered area with new outdoor furniture that is equipped with a pool table. Revenge is a hidden treasure. I recommend it for a relaxed, elegant evening.

They may not have expected so many people because it took a while to order a drink at the bar. It was not easy to navigate to the bar with the seats and I think another pole like obstruction, but my friend and I got our cocktails (Brushfire, Ranch water, vodka soda, and one other) and enjoyed them. It was hard to hear people talking inside so we went outside to enjoy their outside patio area and easier to hear conversations. Overall, I thought it was a nice bar with a cool vibe, interesting cocktail options, and various types of seating options.
