No question, it's the best gym in West Los Angeles. Great classes, clean facilities and locker and…read morepool.

This facility is small but has the bare minimum in terms of equipment, showers, sauna, pool. The…read morecycling room was a selling point to paying almost $200/month, yet half the bikes don't work. When you ask the employees, they say "I don't know, I don't really cycle". I'm not sure what that has to do with knowing how to use the equipment at the gym that you do in fact work at. The staff is the primary reason I decided to cancel my membership. They are simply bodies in a chair. They won't help, they don't say hello or greet you, they seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. They act like you're interrupting their personal conversation when you need to buy a water or ask literally anything. Cycling classes come and go without wiping the equipment. The cleaning standards here are 7/10. The best selling point here is the pool. It's nice to swim indoors, but there are only 3 lanes. Also, the cycling instructor, (Bernard I believe?) is the reason this gym gets a third star vs 1. Overall, the staff not knowing how equipment works, saying you're SOL when none of their bikes work, and being overall rude and unpleasant really kill the energy here more than I imagined. When I first signed up, I felt like it did not matter if the staff was rude- but here we are. I would rather pay less, knowing i'm going to get sub par service. If I'm going to pay almost $200, I would expect cleanliness and employees who know anything about the gym.

While he practiced or competed, I would walk the area to pass time. I had not been back for a good while. Today was a perfectly cool and partial cloudy day. The husband and I decided to pack up our lunch to have it outdoors. We read about some of the improvements that have been made at the SC Sports Complex, so we thought it would be nice to have our lunch there and explore. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived, which was such a stark change from when I used to drive here with my son. Parking was very easy. The park is clean and very well maintained. The familiar spots are unchanged --- Dog Park, Aquatic Center and Gymnasium. The new/updated sections were thoughtfully constructed and designed -- Bike Park, Basketball Courts and shaded picnic areas. We noticed a volleyball court by the dog park which we don't remember seeing before, but it also didn't look new. We were super excited to see that The Rink is being built. We'll definitely be back to see that when it's done. There aren't any clear walking paths -- we just kept wandering around to explore, sometimes having to backtrack to get to another area. It was an enjoyable time nonetheless, especially when it came time to have our lunch while admiring the lovely views of SCV.

This place doesn't have a bench but surprisingly has decent equipment- there's free weights, lots of cardio choices, a room with mirrors and punching bags, an outdoor space that is pretty nice and has equipment. The bathroom has a shower and the facilities and equipment feel new and very clean which I appreciate so much. There are even two meeting rooms for students to take calls or do work in. Just sucks about the parking otherwise I would come here all the time, but good news is the parking fee keeps the facility pretty empty so seems like it's easy to get a good workout in.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this gym. In the past I worked out at the Wooden Center, but…read moreit's just too hectic, crowded, and -- honestly -- smelly for my tastes. I then paid a higher fee to work out at what was the "South" rehab gym which was small but empty. It was nice being able to watch whatever I wanted on the tv, but it was not so nice needing a spot from the student worker. The new KREC gym has everything I need from an equipment standpoint. In the weight room, there's a squat/pull-up rack, bench press, dumbbells up to 80 lbs., and machines for all the leg musles and upper body push or pull movements. (See the pics I posted.) I'm not huge on indoor cardio, but for those that are, yes -- there are only six standard treadmills. However there are a host of other cardio machines -- ellipticals, stairmasters, yadda yadda yadda; I think maybe 20 machines total. If you're a treadmill junkie and they're all full, use something else or run outside. It's good to cross train! There is some equipment in the courtyard for olympic style lifting along with some weight balls, rowing machines, and racks for pullups, crunches, and lower back lifts. The gym is still in pretty new condition, so it's pretty clean. And from what I've seen, the customers are good about wiping down equipment before/after using. As a staff member with a parking pass, I can park real close to the entrance in Lot 36. Oh, and the fee for KREC is the same as any other single zone. Yay!
