I had to make a visit to this QuickCare location a couple of weeks ago due to a bad cold…read more I made an appointment online the night before. To save even more time I completed my check-in online the morning of my appointment. My wait wasn't too long at all on a Saturday afternoon. There was just one other person ahead of me. I was seen by an NP. She was super friendly and took the time to explain things to me, even though I just had a cold. She knew I wasn't feeling well based on my initial exam and overall appearance. Unfortunately she couldn't prescribe anything because what I had was a virus. She told me if I wasn't better in 10 days (from the time my symptoms first began) to return to QuickCare. Sure enough, on day 8 of my cold I felt almost 100% better. The NP advised me that I was one of about a dozen patients she had seen that day with the same symptoms. Spring and Summer colds are the worst. Clean waiting room and exam room(s). Ample parking because of its location in a strip mall. In and out in less than 1 hour. Definitely recommend.

Stopped in because of no insurance, two Doctors saw him; one just to introduce herself, the other to give him the test. The second Dr told him the test was negative but thought Todd have had it anyway. The bill was over $600.00 OUCH I wont be going back. Just over $300 was for the first Dr who just introduced herself. Thanks U of I for grabbing all you could get.

We have the best healthcare in the USA right here in Iowa City, and at our age, this is the highest priority. We especially appreciate the blood drawing staff at the IRL Laboratory. They are the best anywhere in the UIHC system. We appreciate the main hospital staff who are willing to come to the clinics of IRL. A huge thank you to the entire IRL staff.

Not only that, but to live minutes away from this location is a Godsend-- as I do NOT have to go to the main hospital for them to get the care they need. (Eek, I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about navigating the parking and elevators.) Additionally, there is free parking at the IRL location. The staff is friendly here. The doctors are top notch. The building itself is well maintained and updated. I love the art throughout, as well. Absolutely no complaints. The fam popped in for flu shots and COVID boosters a few weeks ago (which I conveniently booked online via My Chart) and we got in with a minimal wait. The nurse was wonderful. Going to the doctor isn't always painless-- but this location helps make it more so.

I was also here for another important test and the medical provider (a resident) seemed aloof and disinterested. There was minimal communication through MyChart, just barely enough and in technical (not patient friendly) language. One nurse was kind (hence the two stars), but it wasn't enough and I'd say most of the people I've encountered here, including the security guards at the entrances, were unpleasant. I definitely would not recommend this hospital unless you know or have a recommended physician or unless absolutely necessary. Even though it seems like a huge system with much invested into it, the patient focus and caring (at least from what my family and I experienced) were not there. The bills I received from urgent care for myself and family members also seemed excessive, more or comparative to other systems with much better quality (at diagnosis, speed, and patient care).

iowa city va health care system - fingerprinting office…read more me and my boyfriend drove more than an hour and a half for his fingerprint appointment last week, and honestly, the whole thing was ridiculous from start to finish. he's 20, had his main ID, but forgot a second one. we figured a picture of his social security card or birth certificate would be fine -- it's clearly him, like who else would my very obviously green-eyed, skinny white boyfriend be? but no, the old guy working there was acting like we were trying to fake an identity. wouldn't even look at the pictures, just shut it down immediately. we even went back out to the car, grabbed his car registration, tried that -- no. he gave zero effort to help or problem-solve. just a bunch of rigid, unhelpful nonsense that wasted our time and gas for nothing. when we asked if there was any other option, his only "solution" was, and i quote, "can someone drive it here for you?" ...like yeah, let me just manifest a two-hour delivery of a plastic card. the total lack of awareness was unreal. so we rescheduled for this week. his appointment was at 11:30, but the same guy had someone in his office from 11:20 to almost noon, just talking. the poor customer looked like he'd been trying to leave for ten minutes, but the old man wouldn't stop running his mouth. it's like he mistakes small talk for customer service. now my boyfriend's finally back there, and the guy's doing the same thing again -- way too chatty, no sense of urgency, no professionalism, and weirdly self-important. i don't know if he's lonely or just thinks he's charming, but either way, it's unprofessional and honestly exhausting. it's like he mistakes running his mouth for doing his job. and honestly, the whole vibe of this office matches that -- slow, disorganized, and weirdly proud of it. and againnnn, the whole setup is disorganized, slow, and weirdly self-important for a place that's supposed to be efficient. we did everything right, and somehow we're still the ones paying for someone else's lack of awareness!!
