This is my first time coming to this location. There was a perfume that was suppose to be in stock here that I wanted to smell. I walked in and went straight to the perfume section. I didn't see the one I was looking for so I sprayed other perfume. An employee came up and asked if I needed help. I told her no. After that she just stood next to me and watched me. This made me feel uncomfortable. I've never had this issue at other locations. I asked her where could I find a product she said it's over there in the middle. I thought she would have shown me. It wasn't close by the perfume where I could see it. So I asked someone else. I'm not sure if the employee in the perfume section was told to stay in that section to watch customers but you all need to figure something else out so customers do not feel this way. Then there was the other employee that rung me up. She seemed irritated after I declined signing up for a credit card. She just gave me my total she didn't mention that I had any points. So I informed her that I had points and a coupon. She kept giving me the total before I could get the barcode for her to scan. I will not return. read more

I'm currently on crutches due to a broken ankle. I'd placed a pickup order so I didn't have to hobble around the store trying to gather things. When I arrived, the associate told me my order would not be ready until tomorrow and immediately stormed off to a back room. Since it's hard for me to get out of my home, I decided I might as well pick up the items while I'm already here and cancel the pickup order. Absolutely no one on staff offered to help me in any capacity. I ended up only being able to get 2 out of the 4 things I wanted due to my physical limitations and trying to be respectful of the store closing time. It would've been nice if the worker who told me I'd have to return for my pickup order offered me any sort of assistance. Really disappointed in the workers and their lack of consideration. Chastity was extremely rude and unprofessional. Did not help me whatsoever and was too busy swatching an eye shadow pallet instead of helping me with my birthday gift. She then just pointed to the gifts and when I grabbed one and started walking out the store she screamed at me to come back so she can scan it. This store is huge! Probably the biggest Ulta store I have ever been too. It was nicely organized and the salon was very busy. I tried to get my mom a hair cut but they said it would be an hour wait for it. I asked her to put my name down and we shopped around and then came back only to find out she didn't put her name down at all. Then there were no tester strips for the perfume so you can try it out which was a bummer. Kind of bummed out that my mom wasn't able to get a simple hair cut. Oh, Ulta! How I love you. Hair products, nail products, drug store and high end cosmetics! I am obsessed. I could easily spend hundreds of dollars here (and I nearly have when I've needed perfume and my Murad face products!). Some of this stuff isn't cheap but for every can of $20 high end dry shampoo there's a $6 can of PSSST available as a cheaper alternative. Love that you can get both! Love their selection of OPI and Essie nail polishes. Love their make up sets/kits--both their own brand and the fantastic sets they sell of stuff like Urban Decay, Tarte and Stella. I basically have every color of eye liner you could ever want thanks to an Urban Decay set! This particular location may not carry everything in lines like Benefit but they have all the basics that I need (like blush and highlighter). Basically any beauty product I need they have and I love being able to do all my shopping in one spot like that. The salon is a nice offering that they have, although I've never used it. They have great sales and using my Ulta rewards card gets me other perks on the regular as well. In short--this place is the bomb. And if you're ever wondering "What should I get Annette as a gift?" It seems that every time I go in here and purchase something that has a "free gift" promotion, the free gift is out of stock....even on the Monday after the promo starts on Sunday. How does that happen? Why advertise it as if there are plenty for everyone when in fact, there isnt? Thats lame. Or worse, I have to ask about it at checkout...It comes up on the register so why isnt it offered? I've been told to go ask for it at other stores, showing my receipt? Inconvenient. This is a really great beauty store. They sell high-end cosmetics, hair care, perfume, colognes and nail polish but there's a catch... They also sell the cheaper drug-store equivalent brands we've all come to know. It seems like Ulta's always having a sale, which is another reason I love them. Always sweet buy one get one deals on stuff that's never on sale at other places. I've also been to their salon. It was an enjoyable but expensive experience. I had a gift card from my amazing boyfriend to pay for my $90 cut and color... Otherwise, I don't think I could justify the experience. If you love makeup, you'll love Ulta. read more

I went in for a couple products and I was not satisfied with my service I needed help and a manager walked over just to be the worst of help I could've received ever. Honestly I don't know who needs to speak to her but it sure does need to be ASAP!! Please be aware that this woman is a MANAGERRR and she's not one bit kind to her customers. She was rude throughout my whole process she was following me throughout my whole shop there I was checking out some perfumes and she kept her eyes on me the whole time I'm with my son and I've been a customer for quiet a while now I honestly felt discriminated because there were white people all around and nothing was going on with them the manager herself was white and I did ask her for help and I repeat all I received from her was attitude and pure rude and disgusting actions. I don't know if it was because of her pregnancy or what but that should be no excuse. If it's her hormones then she should've and could've stayed home the whole time instead of going to work to only have a stinky attitude towards customers. Shopping experiences in Ulta sometimes is hit or miss. This time it was a giant hit. I loved the recommendations that the girls gave me. Christiana (I think that was her name) was so helpful and found me things that I didn't know that I wanted. She didn't steer me to the most expensive, but made recommendations based on what I wanted to spend. Several of my purchases were because of samples I was given in a previous trip. I like that. After *many* visits to this location, I've been reduced to having to order from Ulta online, because this location--the closest to me--is a real horror. In fact, I had the single worst customer service experience I've ever had there recently. I was looking for a specific item in the circular. My DH and I wandered around, couldn't find help, and finally, I asked someone in the high-end cosmetics area. She didn't reply when I asked for help--she was talking to another employee, and I think I interrupted them. After an uncomfortable pause, I said I was looking for a specific item, and I began opening the circular to find the page. She tore it out of my hands--yes--and began flipping through fast, making sighing noises. Found the item, and she took off walking. Fast. Until she was passing the line for the registers. She saw someone waiting in line that she knew, and she stopped to talk. I don't mean that she said, "Hey, Mary! Good to see you! I'm helping a customer, but I'll be back to catch up, okay?" No. She said, "Hey, Mary!" And the two started talking about Mary's job from a year ago and EVERYTHING SHE HAS DONE SINCE THEN. A full on conversation. While this employee has her back to me. She never once turned around to acknowledge me, or apologize--nothing. I'm standing there, going from bewildered to uncomfortable to truly angry. At that point, my DH sees me standing there too long and he grabs someone from the other side of the store. She knows where the item is without a circular, comes my way, takes me to the item--the first employee saw me leave and didn't say a word--and puts it in my hand. When I got in line myself, Mary was finally at the registers and the employee passed me by, saying, "Sorry! Glad you found it!" While this was the WORST encounter, every other time I've been, I've been ignored, or when I ask for help, I get no real interaction--they look, maybe they find it, maybe they don't. Oh well. Ulta is a combination of Sephora and the drug store - the products they sell run the gamut from high end to cheapies. This is perfect for a girl like me, whose cosmetics collection includes products from both ends of the price/quality spectrum. Last time I walked out with a $50 bottle of Stila foundation, and a handful of store brand 99 cent clearance eye shadows. Love it! Their selection of drugstore brands (Cover Girl, Revlon, etc) is much wider here than what you will find in other grocery or drug stores. The selection of higher end product lines (Stila, Urban Decay, etc) is decent but if you are exclusively looking to shop these higher end cosmetic brands, you might be better off at Sephora in terms of selection. The #1 hack for getting the most from Ulta is to sign up for their rewards card. You don't even really have to carry it with you, they can look it up by phone number. Each time you shop you get points for every dollar you spend, and they add up fairly quickly to get you back small rewards like a few bucks off. Let them sit and they can add up to serious savings later down the road. By signing up for their rewards card and store emails, you'll get coupons in your inbox each week that will save you $2.50 here, $3 there. This is where you really get ahead of buying your products at any other store. They have a full selection of fragrances (again, ranging from celebrity inspired perfumes up to Coach and Burberry scents) for both women and men, as well as an entire side dedicated to hair products and their in-store salon. I only come for the make up, haven't tried the hair stuff yet. You can also grab all your beauty "extras" here - make up bags, hair accessories, blending sponges, brushes, etc. Ulta is your one stop beauty shop, for whatever your budget may be. The coupons and reward points can't be beat. Stop buying your makeup anywhere else, and buy it here instead! read more

This Ulta, by virtue of it's size (small), has less to choose from. I have never seen the same employees in there twice, and those that are there are not that knowledgeable about the products. The employees tend to chat more with each other than the customers and their needs. My daughter lives in Houston, Texas, and I have visited her Ulta. It is large, well stocked, and the customer service is incredible. One is greeted at the door, and the employees know the products in the store and can intelligently discuss them. They'll even take the time to apply products, that would rarely happen in Allen Park. The whole store should be taken to task and the staff trained in product knowledge. Most importantly, they should take time with the customers. One always senses that they take pleasure seeing you go out the door! read more

That's what I came here for: BareMinerals Buxom Lips lipgloss in Dolly. That would have meant that I would have walked out only paying $18+tax.... I love that Ulta has salon and high end brands as well as drug store brands. It's a one stop for sure. If you sign up for the rewards club (free) you'll get regular coupons and discounts. I go here a ton. I wear Bare Minerals and besides Sephora this is the only other retail store you can get them from. I love the combo of the high end make up and the cheaper over the counter brands. Which means I can get all of my makeup needs in one place. The salon is also awesome! I called a few days ahead to schedule an appointment before heading out of town for a weekend. Mandi cut my hair. She did a great job. I enjoyed talking with her about our mutual love of the city of Detroit. She thought I had a group-on...but I didn't so I got the extra condition treatment for free because we both love the city. I wish I wasn't moving away in a month so I could there again to get my hair cut. Maybe I'll have to stop by for a trim before I leave the D. read more

The customer service at this place sucks. I was there today and when I got in line there was a customer having a big, long conversation with the clerk about points. The clerk clearly didn't know what she was doing. It reminded me of this time last year. Why does Ulta put brand-new retail staff on the register ALONE during the holidays? By the time the customer finally asked the clerk to speak to a manager, there were 6 people in line (and this whole time, the phone is ringing off the hook and no one is answering it). Finally another employee happened by and started to ring up the waiting customers. Why do you only have one person at the register during the holidays? Is no one watching how many customers are in line? I almost spent more time in line than I did finding what I was looking for. The only reason I went in the store is because you can't get physical gift certificates online; you can only get virtual ones. Even when it's not the holidays, the service sucks. Yesterday evening was my first time going to this Ulta location on the hill. I went in specifically for eye cream to reduce dark circles. One of the consultants that worked there (Belinda) helped me navigate my way through the store to find what I was looking for. She also gave me suggestions for other products that I might be interested in using if the product if I'm not satisfied with the product that I purchased. She was very nice and professional. So I appreciated that! One downfall though, but really not worthy of knocking down how many stars I wanted to review the store for, the cashier asked me if I wanted to donate money toward Breast Cancer. I told her no. As I already donate, but that wasn't her business one way or the other I suppose. She said you can donate your change and make it even for the amount that you're getting back. I believe my total was like $7.40 or something in that estimate. I told her no again. So she still actually put the change as a donation, and gave me back $2.00. Is it that serious over $.60, no, but that was still tacky and unprofessional in my opinion. However, since I was rushing out of there and didn't have time to really say anything, I let it go. I'm not sure if the cashiers or consultants period receive some type of incentive for how many donations or credit cards they have customers sign up for, but her approach seemed that maybe that is the case. Just seemed very sneaky to me. But that's a reflection of that specific staff member, and not a reflection of the entire store. So I'm sure if I am in need of more skin care products, I will definitely drop back into this store location! read more

Wish there were a star less than one. I got the worst haircut of my life. Serves me right for going with someone I didn't know. Below I've included the picture I showed her next to the cut she actually gave me. Anybody see any similarity at all?!? My hair was shoulder length when I walked in, so there was plenty of length to at least give me the layers I wanted, before she chopped it all off. I told her I wanted the longest layer to hit mid-neck. I guess I should have specified that I meant DRY, because she proceeded to hack off my hair to just above mid-neck length, soaking wet. Took her about 7 minutes to finish this half ass cut. And look at the bangs I asked for! Right. There are no bangs. I feel like I may have gotten my hair cut by some random girl pretending to be a stylist. There are random pieces that are longer and shorter. It's a disaster all the way around. The good news is it only cost me $45 and, being the doormat I am, I also tipped this imbecile $10. I am too nice (read: cowardly) to confront anyone in person, but hopefully this review will save someone from having this experience themselves. Never again. read more

(Maybe because it's the holiday season and they're out of stock?! ) I struggled to find a consultant for a few minutes, when I'm used to being greeted and asked if assistance is needed within the first few moments upon entry into the store. When I did, she asked that I wait so she could grab a clerk from the register. They seemed to be short handed today even though the store wasn't crazy busy. Do not get your hair done here! She took the time to hear what i wanted- simple trim and some highlights. Even had a pic of what i wanted. I appreciate we discussed pricing first but she basically said what i wanted would cost $230!! I was shocked. Told her no way- it was way too expensive. Then she said "well, thats the highest in case something goes wrong"! WHAT DO U MEAN IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG? So you mess up my hair and then id have to pay the price for it?? Then she goes "well how does $160 sound".... honestly that was the price i was thinking it would be originally but the fact that you can just alter your prices based on my reaction left me feeling annoyed and like i was being taken advantage of. Feeling super uncomfortable at this point i said to just proceed with the haircut for $38. It came out okay (or so I thought). Hating my entire experience, i quickly rushed off not taking the time to really evaluate. Even if i had, why would i want you taking the scissors back to my hair?! No thanks. I got home and was able to fully evaluate the situation. I will never be going back here for hair services. And now i will have to go somewhere else to fix the horrible, uneven, choppy layers. read more

I agree with many of these other reviews. The customer service is lacking. I went there as a walk-in. The workers acted like I was an incredible inconvenience, despite the place being empty. They were short with me and rude. They didn't even offer to set-up an appointment. They just snarled and told me to come back at a different time. My boyfriend tried going there for a haircut about a month later. He had a similar experience and said he'll "never go back to those snobs." You cant help but take in all that is girly walking in here. Now I'm no make up or personal product buff, but I use bare minerals so I'm here every so often. I try to stick to that section of the store because if i venture off its bad news, I could be in there for 20 minutes and spend a weeks paycheck. The young ladies have always been very helpful with answering questions and helping me find the correct color match, no matter what I'm looking for. They offer plenty of perfumes, lotions, hair care products, skin care products, and quite the variety in brands of makeup. There is also a rewards program through their Ulta card, and usually a free sample of some sort with every purchase (yesterday was mascara and eye liner of some sort that they're promoting). They offer all the necessities a girl could need to feel like a rock star, or queen for you girlier than myself gals. read more
