Thank you for being a "return location" for some of my online shopping! I received a great coupon with my digital receipt from my returns, it allows me to go shopping and get great deals! Staff seem very friendly and eager to help. The store is big, well lit and I was able to bring my small Velcro dog in with me. I'm leaving 3 stars because the lady that helped me find my items was very sweet but the cashier is hateful.

We just moved to Missouri not long ago, I have since drove all the way to Lee Summit to go to their ulta. But for some reason I decided to chose this location instead. As I walked in, the Cashier greeted me warmly. She was ringing out a customer & answering the phones (which were ringing off the hook). I walked the store looking for a few items. I scoured the whole right side looking for comparable products to my favorite MAC eyebrow crayon. The other store associates were in the salon portion talking & laughing. I walked to the back & said "excuse me" three times - but I was not noticed. I then walked up front & asked the cashier for her opinion on products - she recommended the Anastasia brow products (which was a great choice, BTW). I was really disappointed that I was not assisted. When you come to a specific beauty store with beauty professionals -it kind of sucks to be ignored- especially when you have so much you want to purchase but not enough knowledge on certain products. I was super grateful for the cashier, it seemed like she really enjoyed helping ! She even sold me on the new UD Naked Palette at the register. Employees such as her do not go unnoticed, in this situation she was the knight and shining armor to this horror experience. I walked out only spending half of what I planned, Next time I will venture to Lee Summit. read more

I'd like to give zero stars. My whole family knows who Frankie is because he gave me the worst haircut I've ever had in my entire life. Every time I style my hair I scream out, "I hate Frankie!" The most memorable disappointment was when I asked him how much I would have to cut off for my hair to be healthy, he showed me two inches and I said I can part with that, but then he silently cut off 5 inches without any explanation. I have wavy hair and I think he must have zero experience with that texture and type because he really measured poorly and was clueless where it would land once it's dry. Some pieces in the back float above my shoulder when they were once down the middle of my back. It's sad. He left one side obviously LONGER than the other and resorted to convincing me I needed layers- I think so that he could get away with the fact he can't do a straight cut. In a matter of minutes I went from having super long wavy hair past my elbows, to a short fluffy bob, against my will. When I first walked in, I asked for about 15 accent highlights around my face and directly stated I did not want to be all blonde .. he proceeded to foil a partial highlight using a comb to weave through my hair and colored wayyyy more than I wanted - making my whole top layer blonde (nothing like the pictures I showed him) and to top it off, charged it as a "balayage" - which is much more expensive because it requires actual skill to hand paint and place the color in an ombré type fade - which he did not do. The highlights were streaky and overwhelmed my natural color, giving me the exact look I said I didn't want. And to make it worse, at the end of the chop job, he says my hair was never damaged in the first place and that it was dry because it needed moisturizing products and that I probably was using products for damaged hair which have more protein- that can create frizzy hair that appears damaged. So, I never even had to cut the two inches off that I thought I was needing in the first place! Even more, I paid extra for the Olaplex conditioning treatment for which I saw ZERO results and it did nothing for the texture of my hair. I don't even think he really used it except as an excuse to charge extra while also taking a 20-30 minute break while it "soaked in". I went home and bought Maui coconut milk moisturizing products and that made a much more dramatic difference than the olaplex, for a fraction of the cost. And if that isn't the worst part about my experience, the whole time I was in the chair while this horrible haircut was happening to me, Frankie was laughing with the other stylists about clients that don't like him, which ultimately prevented me from speaking out at first because it's obvious they don't care about their clients and make a joke out of the ones who have a bad experience. Even the front register coworkers kept coming back to talk to him and interrupting him like they were having some kind of clique / hang around and gossip session that gave the impression of a complete lack of professionalism that was also reflected in the quality of my haircut. I blame myself because I did go into it feeling it was risky to trust a place like Ulta instead of a real salon but I didn't want to drive far and that was my biggest mistake. Ohhhh sweet make up galore!!!!!! Ulta is a crazy amazing store with every make up brand available from the really elite brands to the more generic. I walked in looking for some loose powder to replace my compact Covergirl powder. The Covergirl wasn't giving me the coverage I needed for my oily skin. I was overwhelmed by the selection of make up everywhere, but a sales consultant soon found me and guided me to what I needed. She suggested I try heir Ulta brand powder which was on sale for 2 for $10. Even though I was only making a $10 purchase, she sat me down in a chair and tried several different colors to match my skin tone. After applying the make up, she even asked another employee to come over and give her opinion on which color looked best on me. Though I wasn't buying it, they applied brownser on my face because I told them I use brownser every day. I felt like they truly cared about my decision. I ended up buying the powder and also a white jumbo eye pencil and a powder brush. Darn it. I was trying to save up some money. I have a feeling that's not going to happen any time soon now that I've been introduced to Ulta - the ultimate make up store. read more

The other popular makeup stores have a new one in town, atleast out my way. Ulta opened this morning with much fanfare. It's the only make up store that sells everything from Revlon to Smashbox. Someone can be having a foundation match with Stilla foundation, while in their bag is a Maybeline mascara. This store is hugemongous. While I am makeup over compensated, Ulta is the other part, the mega over compensated superstore with even a salon. I get my hair done at Beauty Brands (shhh, don't tell Ulta), but am seriously thinking....gel nails here? They are going to start doing gels next week. Ulta is ultraly amazing, in your face (haha, on your face) makeup. They sell most products. You won't find MAC here, but, if you look around, the brands are just as snobbish. They are about the only store that sells NYX. I am interested in NYX cause as a make up artist student, I get a percentage off NYX online. I've not tried it, and liked what I saw. Ulta also has the Luminess Airbrush system. Apparently that's something else I want, or I'd not be mentioning it here. Every high end shampoo, every skin care product, many more products than the other popular makeup store, plus I got tons of free samples. One could spend an entire paycheck in the store. Travel there with restraint, ladies. But do go there and have a blast. The service is great, as crowded as they were, they took time to do a makeup match on me. If you shop right, your makeup won't break the bank. I look for this store to do very well. read more

I've been wanting to visit Ulta for a long time, but haven't allowed myself because I didn't want to spend money I don't really have right now. Yes, they welcomed me when I came in, but after that, I received NO assistance, no acknowledgement of my existence, nothing. I was carrying around an arm full of stuff, but I was invisible. Things were a little ransacked. This was the weekend after Christmas, so maybe that was part of the problem. A couple of times I picked up something I was interested in buying and it had been opened and "tested" and put back on the shelf. This grossed me out a bit. When I got to the check out, the items I picked did not ring up at the price advertised at the display. She stomped away and came back holding the sale display tags and threw them away. She said "that sale ended yesterday, but I'll let you have them at that price." Well, first of all, I DIDN'T PUT THE TAG THERE; 2nd I DIDN'T ASK YOU TO DO ME ANY FAVORS (although, I wouldn't have bought the item if they didn't offer the price); and 3rd THERE IS ANOTHER ULTA REALLY CLOSE TO MY HOUSE I CAN GO TO. So, I probably won't be back. read more

Shelly, the Salon Manager at this location walked me through the steps I would need to take, and the products/treatments they offer to help with my issue. I am leaving this review for the salon specifically. I often come here to the brow bar and get a wax done the hair comes right off no problem the first time in my skin is left smooth. But this time I had to go back to the salon because the person that works at the brow bar was not in today. I just want to say that the person working at the salon that did my waxing was very very nice but the waxed if they use back there is not the same as at the brow bar. So I am left with lots of stubble and I paid $22 for the stubble. Please just go to the Brow bar if you actually want hair removed. I'm honestly thinking about calling and speaking to the manager in asking if I can get another appointment with the brow bar specifically so it can be done right. I said above the salon worker that waxed me was very very nice and I honestly blame their crappy wax for it not being smooth. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE ULTA. I imagine that this is what Heaven is like! It's like Walgreens, Sephora, & Beauty Brands all mixed together. They carry high and low end cosmetics, hair and skin care, as well as tools and perfumes. The staff is always friendly. Awhile back I was searching for a hair dryer, I went to Beauty Brands first and asked for help, and the woman was just like ummmm i don't really know. So then I headed over to Ulta. A stylist came over and gave me really helpful advice. They also carry all price ranges which is nice to compare. Their points program is also really great. During my birthday month, I saved all kinds of money and you get to take it off at the register which I love. Definitely recommend! read more

Manager was very rude throughout my visit. I tried to pick up my order an hour and a half after ordering it but had to wait 20 minutes because my order "was not ready". When I nicely explained that I was unhappy with the customer service as the manager was WALKING AWAY FROM ME she told me she "would be happy to have someone explain to me" how the curbside worked. read more

Showed up 10 min early for my 10am appt. Would not let me in the store until exactly 10am. My stylist never showed, so 20 min later, they offered me another day with a different stylist. Had to get it done todsy. I took off work, had to catch a ride from a friend so i walked next door to Super Cuts and got the best cut and color of my life from the mgr. Later, during dinner, ulta called to offer me 10% off my next visit. Right. Thats not happening. read more

Ulta is not just a makeup store, although they do have a fantastically staggering selection. They also have a salon service there, of which I was a guest yesterday. It was my birthday and I went in for a cut and color with Alyssa. I am nervous when going to a new stylist, as I have long hair, and am very picky. But she did such an awesome job on my color and style. I am super happy with the hairstyle and love the look. Alyssa's specialty is color and she is a true artist. Great salon, and you earn points for the makeup you buy. So like yesterday I redeemed 30 dollars for my haircut and colors I had earned during my double points birthday month. Ulta is Lady Wonderland, a magical surprise pot of everything girly at the end of a rainbow! They give you coupons and they're ALWAYS having sales on stuff. I admit, I got to know the original Ulta cast from when it first opened and they were fantastic fun and always eager to show new tips and tricks as well as make you laugh your fanny off. With the new staff, I miss some of the warmth. I'm sure they'll get acclimated and warm up though. The store is always nice and bright and clean and sale items are clearly labeled. They offer mass cosmetics as well as prestige so you can get your high-end moisturizer and your drug store eyeliner all at the same place. They have Benebabes who specialize in the Benefit cosmetics line and they can teach you all sorts of neat tricks. There is a Dermalogica skincare specialist so you can get facials and treatments for your face right by the salon. Very convenient and they don't try to sell you anything you don't need. They offer the best rewards program I've ever seen. Not only do they give you special coupons, you get points for every purchase you make and those points add up fast. Get your cosmetics, haircare and skincare there and you'll end up with a load of points to spend on ANYTHING in the store, even the high-end stuff. Ulta is like a little escape for some retail therapy. Just don't expect to run in and run out. You're going to be there for a while. read more

This store is very nice, nothing different then any of their other stores. I have had a couple employees. Nothing too bad, but enough to show that sometimes they hire some trashy people. The workers are extremely rude. Plus the prices are large. The girls that work there are snotty, stuck up, and rude. Especially the eye brow lady.
